Tina offered very friendly and efficient service. Great food. We willcertainly come back at the earliest opportunity.

We love dining at The Sun, which is why we chose it for our special celebration. Been here many times, it's one of our favourites! We all enjoyed a three course meal, incl. Sunday Roast which was delicious and so were the desserts!! The only negative was, our side order of cauliflower cheese was missed, but tbh none of us could have managed it with such generous portions. Our experience was enhanced by the friendly and efficient service of the staff, especially the lovely Leah - we had a few laughs with her 😊 which is always nice.

Fantastic food, great value. Our meal was delicious. All the staff are wonderful (particularly Elli). Highly recommend. 10/10.

We popped into The Sun on Bank Holiday Saturday lunchtime, 5 adults, 1 child and a baby. No booking. There were 2 functions. We were seated promptly, served impeccably, the food and drinks were excellent. The manager was alert, on top of everything and the server of our table was efficient and extremely polite. We came away really impressed.

This was a flying visit for Sunday lunch while passing through the town and we were well impressed. Really good choices across the menu, happy & smiley service, prompt delivery of food and drinks. The chicken menu is a speciality but other meats are available, the gammon meal was excellent. Didn't have time to linger but will visit again.

We booked the function area for drinks and food for 30 people after a funeral and we were not disappointed, a big thank you to Hannah and the team you are all amazing, definitely 5 Stars for the welcoming, service, food and drinks. Nothing was too much trouble, Thank you once again Karen & Paul x

Great local within walking distance. Good all round venue; nice decor, good menu selection, attentive staff and food served on hot plates.

Who knew what a little goldmine we have on our doorstep. I’ve lived in the area for 52 years and never been in. A friend suggested we meet there. To my surprise it was lovely! Hannah, the assistant manager made us extremely welcome and made some good suggestions of what to eat, where to sit etc. the chef advised us on the best choice for what we picked to eat. Steak sandwich but have it lightly toasted) The food was lovely. Hannah was very helpful and it was pretty busy with a real mix of clientele. I felt very welcome. Plenty of space between tables. We weren’t rushed. Hannah also told us about the fabulous Sunday lunch they offer so will be booking in for a meal soon. The menu has a lovely balance d plenty to choose from. Try not to be put off by the slightly dull exterior or the reputation from the late 80’s early 90’s the pub is completely different now. I’m disappointed in myself for not having visited before. Booked a function pack in the front room for a family get together. Service from first point of contact through to the event was excellent. Food on the evening was lovely and plenty of it (sausage rolls in particular get a shout out). Management and staff great and work very hard. I would happily book future events here! Thank you

Great pub run well but music definitely to loud don’t get it sit at a table music belting out went in there with olds really struggled to hear each other and pub was quiet , went there again yesterday log burner had a candle in it 5 degrees outside should be used as an attraction again music to loud . Suggestion ask customers if the music is louder than needed , background is good overwhelming a conversation is most definitely not

Good lunch in this pub. I had the rotisserie chicken with chips and coleslaw. Chicken was excellent - tasty, perfectly cooked and a good size. Chips were good. Coleslaw was dry but I improved it by adding mayonnaise. Cluckless burger went down well too. Oil and bread dips starter was shared. OK without being outstanding. Bread arrived warm which was good. Friendly service although she did not know what the soup of the day was. Why not? Shouldn't this information be imparted at service? A drink each and total bill including tip was £45. Cards accepted.

Hannah and the Team could not have been more welcoming Lovely food in a relaxed atmosphere. So pleased that our local has improved hugely and is now our ‘go to place’ when we need somebody else to cook after a stressful day.

Heard that this was a place to visit, so went with friends to experience it. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our seat. Our hostess, Hannah, was very knowledgeable about the menu and made some good recommendations off the menu. The food was excellent, very hot and very tasty. Pricing was very reasonable. One of the best restaurants outside of London and Highly Recommended

I met my old friend for lunch and was impressed by the refurbishment. Great choice of colours, really good use of space and comfy chairs. I was greeted by Ellie, our lovely waitress. I recognised her from a previous visit, which was nice because she was as friendly as I remember. While I waited for my friend’s arrival, Ellie was so professional- warm, kind and attentive. The food was delicious. I wish I’d taken a photo of the chicken, mango & sweet chilli wrap and chips - the flavours were amazing, and the chips were perfect. Then just look at the pics and see why we were tempted by the desserts. A fantastic lunch with a lovely friend, made perfect by Ellie and the other friendly staff.

I visited the Sun today with family. Whilst the service was good the food was average and they had run out of a lot of things (including chips!) which seemed odd as we got there when it opened. I paid for a regular scampi which came the same size as the smaller bite meal. Sadly I don’t think we will be returning soon as it was expensive for the meals we had.

On a visit to Hoddesdon last weekend we went to the Sun for lunch on Saturday. The service was poor and the food when it arrived not a great deal better. I had fish and chips and it was a question of ‘ hunt the fish ‘ in the batter. My wife had the same and hers was not cooked well. When I mentioned it to the waitress and manager all they said was ‘ I’ll tell the cook’. Very poor.

I came here for a family meal as we were in the area. We were served by Diane. The service was excellent, we were made to feel really welcome and well looked after (especially as we came with 3 young children). The food was excellent and came out hot, the kids meals came out warm but not too hot which is excellent as it meant they could eat straight away. overall the experience was really welcoming and the food was delicious.

Scampi in a basket for less than £10 couldn't finish it all very generous portion. Cod and chips the same huge hot and fresh. Parking was a challenge today as busy with a festive booking. Lovely service from bar and table. No problem running a tab kept things nice and simple. Comfy seating so ideal place for friends to catch up.

We have dined here before and had a good meal so we didn’t hesitate about booking here again. Unfortunately we had to wait 20 minutes for our table and then 3 of our meals had something missing which was rectified quite quickly. The food was tasty and the atmosphere was good even though it was very busy.

Our meal at The Sun, I suppose, was a mixed bag, but I think generally warrants a three star.

Probably the best all round food I have had in a chain pub. Service was a bit slow at the start, but once we ordered it picked up and could not be faulted. All our meals were very good and all eight of us would go back.

The staff were friendly and attentive,our grandchildren enjoyed their burger and macaroni cheese followed by a 99 ice cream. We had the rotisserie chicken,nachos and chicken salad all well cooked and tasty. Enjoyable evening had by all.

We booked for 6pm and on arrival the place was quiet but by 7pm it was buzzing however fairplay to all the staff we were served fairly quickly and all the meals were excellent.

Came here for dinner with my partner and our youngest. It was a nice sunny day so we sat outside (not the most picturesque of places – right on the road, but was nice to be able to sit out rather than in!).

I went to the Sun pub to have dinner yesterday evening . I ordered SeaBass with potatoes and vegetables . The Seabass was a bit slim and it could be The sauce on the fish i did not like ,the fish could go under Grill it would be better, but the vegetables was just right nice and the potatoes was good.The staff was nice and friendly. The pub look homely atmosphere .

Called in Sunday lunchtime without booking and given a table for 5 straight away and made to feel welcome by the staff. We all had a very nice roast dinner, I especially enjoyed the beef brisket, my only criticism would be that the roast potatoes were overdone and slightly burnt, I would give 5 out of 5 if they had been better. The price was average around £20 per head with drinks. I would definitely recommend a visit.

I've eaten here several times over the last year or so and have always been pleased with the food and the service. The servers are always pleasant and there is a good menu. Ideal for a quick lunch in a nice atmosphere. Well done to those that run it - you're doing a good job.

Flew in here a few weeks back for a very quick bite. Had a jacket potato which was ok, it was the garnish that made me chuckle... all it was, was the driest piece of cucumber i had ever seen. Don't bother with that next time guys. The pub its self is very nice and clean, with a really nice décor and big comfy chairs. I will return at some point but only for drinks. staff are lovely.

The food is very good. Top quality pub grub. Reasonable prices too. Would definitely come back, if in the area. Coleslaw to die for. Very fresh. Gluten free option too.

We visited for a family meal on bank holiday Monday. The service was really good, and our food was great. We had to send a meal back as it wasn't very warm, but staff went above and beyond to resolve the situation and rectified very quickly. We enjoyed our visit so much, we stayed for three hours. W would definitely visit again.

Not a planned visit, called in on our way home. Managed to get a lovely table with very comfortable chairs. Liked the layout and that the tables aren’t on top of each other. The decor is lovely. Very good service waitress was lovely, food excellent, my husband had Stinky Pete Burger which he really enjoyed and I had Toad in the Hole the lighter version which was plenty and cooked beautifully. Would definitely recommend.

Went there as a last minute thing as everywhere else was fully booked. Nice restaurant, tables not all on top of each other. Meals were massive, couldn't eat all of mine which is very unusual. I had the beef in the massive yorkshire pudding. Had starters mains and shared a dessert. Reasonably priced with 4 drinks just over £50. Would go again. Recommended.
