Unbelievably bad service all round with so called staff and management that gave us an ultimatum to either behave or leave the premises…when all we did was ask the staff how long we would need to wait to be served as we had already been waiting for 20 minutes and nobody came or apologised so we left not having a drink or any food We will never be going back…I suggest the staff are sacked or re trained either way we will never be going back to be treated like naughty school kids..my advice to anyone going is don’t .

Very, very disappointing visit. I have been a regular visitor, often weekly to the cafe with my daughter in law and grandson. Previously the staff were really helpful and pleasant. Today the Manager decided that my 13 month old Grandson's prepacked meal could not be heated in a microwave "on the grounds of Health and Safety!" Previously, this has never been an issue. Further more, high chairs were no longer allowed in the Conservatory for the same reason. Obviously families are not wanted, despite our being regular customers.

Came here on a Tuesday afternoon with husband and daughter. The food was lovely, expensive but I felt worth it. However, the lack of service really let them down. As soon as we arrived and were waiting to be seated a young member of staff came up to us, then walked away having taken a call on his mobile. After a few more minutes got shown to our table and given menus. Less than a minute after sitting down we were asked if we were ready to order. Said we needed another few minutes. It then took another 10/15 minutes before anyone came over for our order, and that was only after us chasing this up. Our food arrived after a reasonable time but not at the same time as our daughter who had to wait 10mins after we had our food. After we'd finished we again had to attract attention to get the bill after waiting a while. We had the afternoon cream tea with unlimited tea and coffee. We were never asked for if we wanted a refill or if everything was OK. If the service was improved this would of been 4 / 5 stars but the lack of any service really let them down.

One of the better garden centres that look after the plants shrubs and trees. There is a large selection of outdoor furniture as well as plenty of supplies for pets and wildlife. The food section is bursting with a fabulous array of deliciousness. There is a cafe that is very popular and has been extended fairly recently. One star has been removed due to the overpricing of some of the products. edit. Halfway through October and the Christmas products are filling the shelves and racks. It is clashing with the Halloween stuff, and before you know it the Easter Bunny will spring in through the front door!

Went for breakfast yesterday. 2 bacon butties and 1 scrambled eggs on toast. Little packets of butter too cold and hard to spread. Bacon was obviously not fresh, it was hard & lukewarm. The scrambled eggs were awful. Overcooked and cold (the butter wouldn't melt on them at all). Asked for them to be replaced and another dish of slightly warmer but still overcooked eggs came. They were like eggs that had been left out on a buffet for ages. They gave a refund but hard to attract the attention of staff once you'd paid.

We went into cafe yesterday we have visited before and was allways satisfied we ordered two chicken club sandwiches which we have had before and enjoyed this time though it went downhill the sandwiches arrived and had egg mayonnaise on both of them which wasn’t on the description and not told by the waiter when asked about this the gentleman said it’s a new menu and should have been told about it it is still not showing this on the menu I think with the allergy situation it should be stated clearly he said they had to wait for the new menu sheets to arrive but surely they shouldn’t serve it before it is to be fair who puts egg mayonnaise on a club sandwich anyway ? The gentleman dismissed us and wasn’t interested just a good job we weren’t allergic to it

This is the first time I had been here. It looked nice, quite busy. We were sat down quickly enough. A bit of a delay before we were served. Not an extensive menu to start with. I asked for a baked potato, no baked potatoes. Then I asked for a steak sandwich, no steak. It was busy but not a bank holiday or weekend. So left with limited choice then. But we could have been told this when we sat down. I ordered a club sandwich. It's not something I usually have, but I didn't enjoy it. It wasn't warm. A lot of very thick white bread and an unexciting salad. We had to wave to get attention for cakes after. I wasn't brought a knife or jam with my scone. No apology when I went and asked for jam. The wrong milk was brought to which the reply was "but you asked for..." what happened to the customer is always right. Most of the staff were lovely and polite. A lot of young staff, probably inexperienced.

My friends and myself went to Summer seat garden centre cafe today We went to the counter to order our food but were told to sit down and someone would come and take our order which we did We sat in the conservatory as it was a hot day. After waiting about 25 mins my friend got up and went back to the counter to say we were still waiting to be served and she was told That area is closed so we got up and moved inside. Sat down and waited another 15mins mean while 2 of the staff were scrubbing the floor at the side of us with a very strong smell of disinfectant around us My friend got up again and went to the counter and asked someone to come and take our order the waitress came but we had no menu so she brought a drinks menu but we also wanted a food menu I ordered a cherry scone and when I cut it in half there was half a cherry in it which I told the waitress and she barked back at me I'll change it if you want I declined as I had had enough by this time. I got up and went to the counter to asked the assistant for some hot water saying please and thank you She never said anything to me at all just banged the teapot on the counter One thing is the staff in the cafe should use some manners and be polite to people when they are spending money One thing for sure is we will not be back and looking at the other reviews alot of other people won't either It was too much trouble to serve customers 😠

Had lunch today with my mum and my sister at Somerseat Garden Centre. Over £60 for 3 lunches of poor quality and the most appalling service. Waited a long time for food and when it arrived I realised why as they boil their vegetables for a good hour until nice and soggy 🤣 Terrible system of a waitress coming to the table to take your order and pay immediately, meaning you have to do that every time you would like another drink or coffees or desert. Staff uninterested and didn’t look like they enjoyed their job to say the least. Dirty tables everywhere which we pointed out to the waitress who said it wasn’t her job. Then took over 30 mins and 4 attempts to get our table cleared and order coffee. My sister actually left. I mentioned the food wasn’t great (I was being polite) and the waitress who I’d expected to say “ oh I’m sorry what was the problem” simply replied “well did you say anything” Just a shocking overpriced experience I won’t be repeating!

This is a review of the Cafe only not the Garden centre itself. First let me say we have been fans of the cafe at Summerseat for many years, even when you had to queue up for drinks and food. It has always been great food (not an extensive menu but with the specials you'll always find something great and tasty for lunch), very reasonably priced and the staff are just superb. Like any place from time to time you find small issues but they have always been more than willing to rectify them. About two months ago they hired a new Manager, we were told by the Manager on duty today that the new cafe manager is Ollie. I am sure its not Ollie as the Ollie we know has been there for ages and is really professional, but accept there could be two Ollies. Since the new manager has taken over the service and food have rapidly deteriorated, and prices hiked. The menu is much more restricted and if your vegan or can't eat fish (like me) there not a great deal going on. On arrival we asked for the conservatory, it was sunny after all, every spare table in the conservatory (there were only four/five occupied) was full of dirty pots. The waitress was happy to clear it though. Not the first time this has happened recently. We went about a week ago and same thing asked for the conservatory (we had already clocked it was nearly empty and the same lady manager told us it was full), so we walked in and it wasn't it was just full of dirty tables. We waited about 1/2 an hour (maybe a little longer) for two bowls of soup and a sandwich and only then it arrived because the lovely waitress went and chased it. When it arrived it was cold, the soup was tepid at best, the club sandwich had been stood there for a while as the toast was stone cold. We tried our best to grab the attention of someone but most of them are just running around trying their best to cope. As it was nearly three we decided to leave the soup, who wants to eat cold soup, neck the cold sandwich and get the heck out. First though my husband decided to get up and ask the waitress to knock the soups off our bill and explained why. He asked for an email address so he could write to someone and let them know the issues that we consistently see when we visit and she said she would speak to the lady manager on duty, who came to speak to my husband. Although apologetic she said that she was not allowed to give out her managers email address. I won't repeat what my husband said, but I think it culminated in something about her manager being the worst sort, sitting in his ivory tower behind his very important desk, unwilling to speak or engage with customers. We paid our bill and left on the way out we counted that there were more dirty tables than customers in the cafe. We know that staff are leaving because of the environment, the one's who have left have told us. What has gone from a lovely local cafe with decent service, decent food and reasonable prices has gone to an overpriced cafe pretending to be a restaurant with overpriced and poor quality food. Its shambolic, chaotic and disorganised. Its not the fault of the waiting team, apart from some leavers they are the same they have always been. Sadly, after years of visiting we have decided we won't be going back again. We left our telephone number for the new manager to call us. Let's see if he has the courage to step out from behind his desk and get some real customer feedback. Such a shame. Update - I've just been on FB chat with Jacob (nice lad), after saying he would take my complaint and pass it onto higher management, he was then told by the management that he couldn't take my complaint and should direct it to the manager on duty. We did but she was as much use as a chocolate teapot. Seems that Summerseat Garden centre really are not interested in customer feedback at all.

Same as other reviews , standards and service have dropped. Waiting a good 15 minutes for them to take our order. Then another 30 minutes before we were served our food. Pulled beef burger was sent back because it was cold. The bun was soggy, even the fries were cold. Staff didn’t even seem that bothered. The replacement burger came back within 5 mins. Seemed like they just reheated and changed the bun for a fresher one. Prawn avocado sandwich was bland and the bread was not fresh ( seemed like it had been sat there for ages. Very expensive for a cafe, more like restaurant prices. Underneath the table was covered in dog hairs, not just from today, they looked like they had been there for some time. We arrived early afternoon , received a friendly greeting and we were then seated quite quickly. Once at the table we then waited to be served, unfortunately due the length of time that had lapsed we had to ask for our order to be taken. The menu was limited, but had the type of choices that suit a Sunday afternoon meal. We ordered drinks, starter and mains..the starter arrived quickly and was really nice, however we had to ask for our drinks, but unfortunately didn’t received a positive response from the waitress, just a stern look and a ‘I’ll ask’ response, the waitress didn’t return to update how long the drinks would be…the drinks arrived a minute or so ahead of the mains..we had ordered Sunday lunches as our mains, and to be honest when they arrived i wished I’d ordered something else,.. the roast potatoes were undercooked, more like boiled, the Yorkshire pudding was soggy and undercooked and the thinly sliced beef was underwhelming and not very tasty.. I left a sizeable portion of my meal and i did intend raising it with a member of staff, but at the point the waitress (same waitress as earlier) cleared some of the table she just picked up the plates, didn’t ask about the food, just walked off…overall not a great experience…

We visited during the week so it wasn't too busy. The very friendly and polite waiter took our order. All the drinks came except a tea. I questioned this with a lady waitress who informed me quite sternly "they won't have forgot, it will be in the queue" waited 5 more minutes, food had arrived and finally the waiter came back to say they'd not put it through the order, their error! The male waiter then came back and charged me for the tea and put it through the system. I thought considering this was their error, they may have apologised and brought it complimentary in view of us now being part way through our meal. I found this a little unprofessional and disappointing. Not the service you would like or expect 😒

The spinach is a joke and just chucked on the plate wet. It’s just a massive disappointment it was horrible

Absolutely brain dead and shocking service yesterday 13/02/24 in the cafe. We arrived at around 1:50pm and were seated quickly enough. We were handed menus and the specials, so no problem there. That is as good as it got. We were sat waiting, and waiting and waiting for the lady with the tablet to take our order. This never happened, we soon realised that everybody in front of us in the waiting queue had been served, as well as the people stood behind us in the queue. We then noticed other people who had been seated 10 minutes after us had been served to… At this point we realised that the cafe was run by lemmings, where every member of staff has one single job to do and they do not navigate off this one job. They are so focused on their single job, that they are unable to see two customers sat there with menus on the table looking around waiting to be served. A simple “Have you been served?” by any member of staff would have rectified the error, as it was pretty obvious that we were not on the ladies tablet to be served, as she passed our table on multiple occasions to take orders and collect payments. Not once did she have the common sense to look away from here tablet to see if people were waiting to be served. This particular lemming failed at her one and only job, which was to take customer orders. At around 2.20pm we got up and left. I wouldn’t be surprised if our menus are still on the table, as the lemmings dare not navigate off task. To the lemmings at Summerseat Garden Centre Cafe… break off from your one task and take a look around to see if customers require assistance.

We enjoyed a strawberry tart and a cherry Bakewell slice with a latte and a cafetière of coffee. Service was pleasant but a bit slow. It was late on a Saturday afternoon though. I’d go back.

Went in for breakfast and we were both disappointed. Overpriced for what it was, hot drinks were served in very small cups, extra items which had been ordered were just thrown on the side of the plate Also, disappointingly, they won’t allow you to swap items on the full breakfast, most places allow this as-long as it’s reasonable however it was a straight ‘no’ from the staff here. We won’t be going back.

My husband nearly tripped over another near the toilet Also where is the line drawn on sizes of dogs just put a downer on our visit

The restaurant really does need to sort itself out. Food is good when it comes but you get shown to your table then wait..... A long time..... No managers directing servers or order takers, which means people get there orders taken out of sync, which can be very annoying when you have been waiting a while, and some just walks in and has there order taken. Come on guys, stop penny pinching and get this manager floor walking service back on. You don't want to get any more bad reviews and look after your customers.

Whilst I understand that dogs take priority in some peoples eyes we do not wish to see dogs sniffing the food displays in the deli area. Or indeed owners feeding their dog a sample of scotch egg left out for us humans to try!! Put us off and therefore Summerseat G C lost a sale! In the Restaurant area dogs allowed too and not all owners keep them quiet unfortunately 🙄.

Cafe has gone severely down hill recently, very long wait times and when we wanted to order more drinks and a dessert each we were told someone would come over which they didn't after 25 minutes of waiting we left. Used to be really good I don't know what has changed.

Service poor and slow, servers glide along with a smile but don't see you. Order and pay 1st, so you can't run away when you see how bad it is. Xmas dinner complete RIP-off. Cold plate, cold food, shredded Brussels, limp carrots, white roasties and 'swipe with a knife' of mashed potato to top it off, 2 pieces of Turkey settled in a puddle of light brown coloured water. Can't use the word 'gravy' just not in that category. Didn't ask for cranberry ! Service so bad my husband had to go and look where our order was at the service counter. Absolutely terrible. Don't go, don't pay for substandard food and service, too expensive, We deserve better

Twice now with a month we have driven half an hour parked up to be told .... "We've stopped serving breakfast, we're just doing coffee n cakes. BECAUSE WE'RE BUSY". For such a large substantial restaurant cafe this is really inconvenient and poor consistency. It's now given me a feeling of relying on this place to eat ...is a bad idea

Wrong order for one meal scrambled egg burnt tasted horrid and to top it off served by the older lady (lots of reviews about her and her attitude issue) hostile, unfriendly and should not be in a position where she is dealing with the public. Horrible experience wont be back again its put me right off!

Afternoon Tea Treat to brighten up a cold damp winter day. Pleasant welcome with a smile from greeter and server Jannet T, who explained the options and format, swiftly delivered. Salmon and Rocket wrap, beef sandwich, egg mayo sandwich, two fruit scones with jam and coffee flavoured cream, luxury chocolate brownie, bakewell tart style brownie (different!) and bottomless tea and coffee. Not exactly what was on the menu - but all very tasty, fresh, delicious and all in-house production No hurry, relaxed atmosphere. Tracy sorted the bill, ensuring our voucher processed correctly. Very pleasant afternoon, thanks to Summerseat Garden Centre.
