Stopped here with friends for a couple of drinks and found the beer tasty and prices very reasonable, ie cheap. Would recommend a visit to thirsty punters.

Three of us had a lovely meal here today the service was very good and the food was delicious. WE had chi ken strips to start which was tasty.We had lamb shank ( generous portion), gammon (juicy and tasty, and Hunters chicken ( delicious,). Relaxing atmosphere and attentive staff,thanks!

Six of us had a late lunch to celebrate a birthday. The food was tremendous and the staff were very attentive and did everything to make our visit a pleasurable occasion.

Excellent service, I had a running tab, our waiter was superb, tall with ginger hair...he really did go out of his way to help with my order..more than happy 😊... I had braised beef, mash and peas followed by caramelised cheese cake with ice cream, and a J20...for £24. The atmosphere was great and we had a laugh with other diners.. And the car park is free!! Equipped for wheelchairs and you can take well behaved dogs on a lead to the bar area....10/10 from me!!

What an experience! A thankful saviour in being in a low maintenance relationship was of course, the Rose & Crown pub. Typically, our calendars didn’t match to celebrate our anniversary this year on the day and being the pub-goers that we are, this delectable, quaint and welcoming Greene King pub/ restaurant is certainly the place to be. Arrival and decor - This is quite a small pub compared to most. Majority of its interior lends itself to a pleasurable designated dining area. To my knowledge, it’s a free-for-all, except for busier times when bookings can be made. Failing that, you can still dine in the main ‘boozing’ area. The pub is kitted out with plenty of seating and screens. Outside is a beer-cum-smoking garden/ area, with shelter. Shortly after arrival, straight in the with the drinks - two pints of Level Head (one of which is pictured). Kudos to Greene King (referred to as GK from hereon) for brewing this intriguing light and hoppy beverage that satisfies with every sip. I often frequent other GK pubs but I’ve only developed a true relationship with Level Head at Rose & Crown - just one (1) of many reasons to return. On to food (pictured). What better way to celebrate than with some proper good pub grub. Impressed with the quality of the food at Rose & Crown. Their menu differs to many other GK pubs that I have visited, more refined options and offering quality items compared to the subpar deep-fried bar snacks available at sister pubs. It is evident Rose & Crown pride themselves on being a restaurant over being a full-time boozer and it shows in the quality of their meals. To Start (to share) - all pictured: Houmous, Pesto & Bread (toasted Rosemary Focaccia) Chicken Strips - with chilli & herb garnish, tossed in East Coast IPA hot sauce with garlic & rosemary mayo and crumbled stilton. Mains (not to share) - forgot to photograph Halloumi: Katsu Chicken (Crispy breaded chcieknw with Katsu curry sauce, served with basmati & wild rice and chips. Topped with a chilli & herb garnish Battered Halloumi & Chips (w/ tartare sauce and garden peas (mushy if you’re mad) Divine. Often one of the party has an issue but on this occasion - we didn’t. Everything was hot, fresh and the portions are outrageous, stuffed! The Katsu dish was the real winner for myself, however, the wife was stunned by the preparation of halloumi. She presents herself (lies) about being a vegetarian although I label it as a ‘flexitarian’ and is often subjected to halloumi sticks or ‘fries’ and they’re awful. Rose & Crown offer large pieces of nicely battered halloumi - and the chips complimented it perfectly. The tartare was left, fussy eater. Staff; Incredible service. Ed & the team are, as on the tin (board outside) are welcoming! Each member of staff I have engaged with has wholly interacted and The atmosphere is much brighter compared to a few years ago before I moved away. Glad to be back in the area and enjoying this excellent pub. Additional points for their incredible playlist - it certainly satisfied our ears; everything from Genesis to Floyd to Clarence Carter. Concluding. I am yet to find a fault with Rose & Crown. By far the best GK I have been to and all the qualifying criteria (see above) gives it the perfect 10. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we will be returning very soon. Rose & Crown, texture like sun 👍

Went for Sunday lunch, one of the best roasts I've had in a while. Home cooked Yorkshire pudding and gravy. Plenty of meat and the roast beef cooked just right. Excellent value for money. Polite and friendly staff finished off our visit, will definitely be back.

Chose so called award winning steak and ale pie. Pastry ok but filling very poor, mostly gristle and gravy. Left most of it. Very disappointing

Great service as always..Sunday roast is fantastic!!

Nice spot, interior felt cosy. Attitude of older member of staff was pretty disagreeable. He incorrectly processed our order and added a tip to the bill without our knowledge. It's was only when querying where our food was and trying to work out the costs (it just didn't add up!) he supplied the bill and said "I owe you this" and put a pile of change on the table. Hmmmm. Just imagine, every customer having a quid or two stolen on every order- that's quite a retirement fund. Menus and condiments pots filthy.

Just a quick review to say how much I have enjoyed going into the rose and Crown watching the European football championships. You can find a seat to watch a game on the 5 TV available. Thanks again.

We have been going to this pub for 20 years plus from when Amanda managed it in the good old days! but today I had the worst meal I have possibly ever been served - to say I was disappointed was an understatement. I had ordered sirloin steak medium, I literally had to saw through it due to the gristle and sinew that ran through it, I showed the waitress who asked if I would like another - which I didn’t as the first one had put me off. I demonstrated the sawing that was required and she too could see it was not good. Rather than waste it I took it home for the crows that frequent our garden and they too rejected it! The menu has also greatly reduced with limited choice these days whereas previously you had things like salmon and Yorkshire pudding wraps (not together! ) time to look for an alternative venue. Having gone twice a month for years, today has just put me off which is s shame.

Good value for money 2 meals for 13.99. can recommend the katsu chicken.

Called here never again. Ordered fish chips peas . Fish wasn't cooked peas were stuck to plate like paste chips were over cooked . Service had to go the bar to order another drink . Sat waiting for someone to clear plates that never happened. Nobody offered dessert menu. I would not recommend this place to anybody

There appears to be a decline in standards at this venue. Previous visits have been unremarkable as the overall experience was of better than average pub dining. However, this last visit was a poor reflection of Greene King standards. The wait for starter was reasonable, yet the food was Luke warm, the mains was a further hour of waiting for 6 dishes. The venue was not particularly busy. Had I been a secret shopper I would have marked down the presentation and quality of the foodstuffs. No ‘check backs’ from the server. A sign stating ‘full table service in this area’ is not fit for purpose as refilling of glasses were not offered at any point. Overall a lousy visit from a previously enjoyable food establishment. Until word is going around that the food and service has improved I shall not be visiting the Rose and Crown in the near future. Please get good again because it’s a lovely pub.

Great food and excellent service. Called in Easter Monday & they were able to seat us immediately. Decor a little dated but the menu choice & the quality of the food more than make up for it. We will be back.

Sunday dinner was an embarrassment,seeing that I had took 2 family members whom just moved to bury.no potatoes, only frozen deep fried cheap ones, the 3 slices of carrots was cold,the broccoli was limp. If you're going for a cheap mid week meal for 2 under £14.well that's what you expect. But Sunday roast no.if the kitchen staff is registered has a chief then all I can say is shame on you. There was food stains on the walls ,very dirty inside and out.some lovely places for Sunday roast in bury ,my advice is look elsewhere. May haswell put are money in the bin.

Arrived at the rose and crown and was greeted by a surly lady who showed to our seats we ordered food and when the food arrived we could tell before we even tried it it was not fresh and the lasagna we sent back as it was rock hard ( probably warmed up too much) the other food we ordered was absolutely horrible we will avoid this place in future

Not been for a while. Wasnt too good last time. We thought we'd d give it another try today. Looks like new management/staff. It was frankly the best steak and ale pie ive had in a pub. I am leaving a very happy man. Well done. Be back next week😊

The menu was varied and the food was very good however the service was appalling. After arriving and being shown to our table we were left to fend for ourselves. We had to go to the bar order and collect wine. We had to go to the bar and request someone took our food order and ask for the bill and pay at the bar on the way out. All the other tables had to do the same. A sign on the wall says 100% table service but there was none. Couldn't leave a tip as we received no service.

Always great food, great value for money. Whether it be a work lunch, family meal out. Good value for money and excellent service

Hope the current managememt team stay. Went through a rough period a few years ago. Now, its back to its former glory. Food is good, tasty and hot. Staff are polite, attentive and very helpful. Beer is crisp and cold. What more do you want for a Sunday meal. Cheers me up going here.

We are regulars here and the reason we keep coming back is good food, great service, and a great atmosphere in the pub. Bex and Ed make everyone feel welcome. Good wine list and selection of drinks. The food menu is quite extensive and there is bound to be something on the menu that will appeal to everyone. If you're looking for a casual meal out or a place to meet friends and have a chat, I highly recommend The Rose & Crown Bury.

Pay attention to the menu! 2for1 is not as it seems. It used to be on pub classics, but now, you have to look for the little icons to qualify. Felt a bit cheated.

Great little pub with great food, this has to be one of the best mixed grills I've had you get loads of meat and the rest of the food was spot on.

very kind bar staff and lovely bar food at a very reasonable price the publicans were very kind to let us park an aunts car there after she had problems with it.

We visited friends locally and came here for dinner and drinks. If you’re just looking for decent value pub food then it’s a great choice. It doesn’t pretend to be a posh place and the prices reflect this. The staff here are better than some of the more expensive places, helpful and attentive. We’d recommend the pie! Only one negative, no squid, please stock up as it’s only frozen! We will definitely return.

This is fast becoming our goto pub. They have some excellent lager on draught always served cold. The food is absolutely amazing fresh and piping hot every time. The staff are always attentive and friendly. Amazing little pub.

Every time we come on a Sunday, always greeted very warmly and happy, the staff here are always outstanding, this is one pub I’m comfortable going to without being judge, becks is so friendly and will chat openly to you. I had one of the worst meal ever served to me. It was supposed to be pea and courgette risotto and for an extra £2.50 topped with King Prawns. What I got was a dish of pea risotto minus courgettes but with chopped raw green and yellow peppers and red onions.On top of that was a 8 small shrivelled hard little pawns totall inedible. I complained to the waitress who apologised profusley but thats all. I was ablle to eat the rice but nothig else. I regret very much not sending the dish back to the kitchen and refuse to pay for it. I have been to this pub several times before taking various friends but after last ights meal I shall not be back and neither will my friends.

APPALLING. THE OWNER WAS STERN AND RUNNING AROUND AS THOUGH SHE WAS SO BUSY AND THERE WAS HARDLY ANYONE IN THERE. SHE PLONKED OUR FOOD ON THE TABLE WITHOUT SAYING THE PLATES WERE VERY HOT. A great service! I rang ahead to book a table only 45 minutes before we needed it as there were 5 of us The table was ready for when we arrived. I ordered all the food and drinks on the app, it was very easy to use. The food was lovely, served quickly and hot. The staff are very friendly and helpful. This is our go to place. We have also previously attended on quiz nights and I have never seen any trouble, a great family friendly place to go for all age groups.

This place has gone down hill over the years, the service is terrible. As we entered there was a fight between 2 customer's - definitely better viewing than coronation Street. Staff refused to provide clean glasses with prosecco. Food was incorrect. Overall we felt like an inconvenience to the staff. We did attend on quiz night, the quiz master was the only friendly member of staff in the building. Would not recommend this place to anyone expecting any customer service. There are plenty of lovely other local places with friendly atmospheres and excellentservice (eg juniper and vine, Duke William, swan etc).

After coming with my 7 month old daughter I asked if she you would warm up my daughters food to be told they couldn’t as it’s their policy so when asking the manager REBECCA if I could see the policy I was greated with eye rolling and sighing very bad customer service never will I go there again

Went here 6th Oct for works do(50th) The staff went above and beyond to make it remarkable!!! Nothing to much trouble. They did us a buffet, which was amazing. We will definitely see you soon. From all at Social Care.

Just returned to our favourite place for lunch/tea on a Saturday and from arriving to leaving food was tasty and plates hot, table service great staff so nice and accomodating huge improvements. First time back and felt normal will return.

The food here is shocking. Such a shame because it is a nice pub and the drinks were good. They seriously need to sort out their food offering & get a decent chef in!
