I hate to sound is if I'm giving a bad review but there's nothing special about this restaurant. It's very busy due to it's location in the xscape. I've been here twice and both times the food is very lacklustre and just not having the genuine Turkish flavours. While certain side dishes were great the main courses like steak or usual Turkish grilled meats cooked by this establishment don't do Turkish cuisine justice. While the staff were competent and pleasant, I recognized a few of them during my time working at Indian and bangladeshis restaurants in Milton keynes which leads me to believe these staff may not be time served Turkish restaurant staff. This restaurant has great potential but the authentic Turkish flavours in the food just aren't there.

One of the Best restaurants we've been in. Food fantastic & authentic. Accommodated a sunprise for my sons Birthday . Staff brilliant & full on a Wednesday evening at 19.00. Would definitely return.

This is a large and comfortable restaurant with plenty of friendly staff. There is a large choice of starters and mains, at the usual prices for Turkish restaurants- a little high especially for the kebab dishes. The mixed chicken and lamb example came with a decent salad and a large portion of chips. Unfortunately the amount of meat couldn’t be described as large. The meat was dry with zero succulence making it difficult and not enjoyable to eat. The T bone steak was very expensive at £32 but was very large. The way it was presented was good too. The person who chose this was very pleased. The final dish was chicken in garlic and tomato served on top of chips. This was a generous portion but apparently lacking in any flavour or spice. There are so many Turkish restaurants to choose from and I would place Sumac in the middle of the rankings.

Found plastic running through one of the kebabs which my partner choked on! The restaurant nearly killed my partner and all they did is say next time we come in they’ll give us a free main course… The panic we went through because of their poor standards was totally unacceptable! We will be taking this further.

Food was first class and reasonably priced. Service was swift and courteous. We sent our compliments to the chef. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

The service is really bad. I ordered a corona (Didn’t check that it was not on the menu), to which the waiter replied, ‘This is not an Indian restaurant’. Felt really offended. The food is good, but the staff needs to be trained

Absolutely disgusting and racist me and my sister came in for a some food after having a bad day ourselves, we sat down and told us we had to pay before we eat because of how we looked , yet they never asked anyone else in the restaurant the same , so we got up and left I’m honestly shocked

What an amazing restaurant! The service, the food, the decor - such a beautiful place. If we could eat more we would have. The portions were just right for each person. Each dish was full of flavour and presented beautifully. The staff went above and beyond for us all. They were so kind and patient with all of us. We will definitely be back again. Thank you guys

I visited Sumac Lounge today with my family, including three children, and had an exceptional experience. The food was absolutely delicious, deserving a full 10/10 rating. Each dish was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The service was equally impressive. The staff were incredibly accommodating, helpful, and considerate, especially with our children. They went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed, making our visit truly enjoyable. We will definitely be returning to Sumac Lounge. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience with top-notch service

A absolutely fantastic, Wonderful Turkish restaurant in the heart of MK in the Xcape, So delicious food and the portions are big, Proper authentic Turkish 🇹🇷 food, Great customer service all staff are very attentive , The atmosphere is great with a amazing ambiance, Lovely decor too. We were in there and celebrating my son’s birthday and I would say it’s probably the 10th time I have been in here to eat and gets better every time. Never had a bad meal in here and now it’s become my favourite Turkish restaurant in the UK.. Never mind Milton Keynes !! I highly recommend this restaurant and believe me I have eaten in some of the finest restaurants in the world!!

Abdur Rahman was an amazing host and a great member of team in Sumac Room. Always attended to our needs and made sure we was well looked after. Another brother who’s name I did not catch (Afro hair with white shirt) was also great with his service and made sure we had everything we needed as we was a family of 12 with children making sure the kids was satisfied too.

Today, my family and I enjoyed a wonderful lunch outing. The food, service, and overall atmosphere were excellent. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming, attending to our needs without any issues. We look forward to returning for another visit soon.

Wow our 1st visit here and have to was really impressed, so on that premise will most definitely be returning very soon. The food was absolutely spot on, really full of flavour and generous on portion size. We went for the lunch menu, pick 2 courses for £14, and what fantastic value for money that was. We had complimentary bread and dips served with our starters, the bread was warm, the dips were chilli, and the other a garlic both excellent. The wife had Falafel for her starter, mine was Sucuk a spicy Turkish sausage, both full of flavour and well presented and cooked to perfection. Our mains were Mediterranean Stuffed Chicken, filled with Feta cheese, spinach, Spring onions served with a creamy mushroom sauce, along with choice of rice, bulgar, fries or mashed potato. I had Chicken Chokertme which was sauteed chicken, cooked with garlic, tomato and peppers, with choice of fries, rice, bulgar or fried potatoes, this was served on a yoghurt base absolutely fantastic flavours. The food was served piping hot, and all cooked fresh as ordered, would highly recommend a visit to this restaurant.

I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. Not only did they charge an outrageous £4.69 for service, but when I requested to have my leftover food packaged, they merely handed me some empty boxes. While the food was tasty, it certainly didn't make up for the lackluster service. Won't be returning anytime soon.

Delicious food, excellent service!

Visited Sumac room for a quick bite to eat. Was seated quickly and at first service was fast. Had hot meze sharing plater for starters which was okay. Then for main I had chick shish and my partner had a mixed grill. The adana meat on my partners plate had very hard bits inside which put him off eating, so he ended up not eating half of his food. When questioning the waiter he told my partner that this was bits of bone and that it’s common in this type of meat. Yuck. Waited ages to get someone’s attention for the bill. Staff standing around chatting. When we got home both myself and my partner had very bad diarrhea, obviously caused by the food. Will not be returning.

My girls and I went for Iftar (to break our fast during Ramadan) the service and food was amazing. The restaurant and toilets are very clean. The staff were lovely. I recommend! 10/10

Waiter had a lot of attitude unfortunately. Food was awful have eaten at several turkish restaurants and this was definitely the worst chicken was fatty and undercooked. Should have left when I realised how many people were leaving their meals. AVOID!!!

Dine here on Wednesday for the first time. The food and service were great. It was also busy, so had a nice atmosphere. When I got the bill, I asked the waiter, why there was a 25% discount, he said it’s a Wednesday promotion. This was great as I wasn’t aware of it, other restaurants tends to never give the discount unless the customer mentions it. So it was actually really nice to see this on the bill.

I visited Sumac Room with my friends and another time with my family. This time wanted to try the delivery option. Food arrived on estimated time. We received more food than ordered. Quality of food excellent as in the restaurant. Definitely order or visiting the restaurant again.

An unknown gem, hidden away in the depths of the Xscape they have a good menu that isn’t massive so makes choosing your dinner much easier than some other Turkish restaurants in Milton Keynes. Staff were friendly and responsive to any request. Good layout with a variety of seating options both booths and tables. Complimentary break and dips to start and food came out promptly thereafter. Very good experience overall.

To be honest - Not very good. Main course came out before the starter. Food is average. There was a 10 minute wait between my food and my kids dishes. Atmosphere is ok, the restaurant is looking a bit tired. There are better Turkish restaurants around. After all of the above they still charge a 10% tip automatically. Definitely not be heading back 😏

Amazing atmosphere, especially the music and decor. Food very fresh and full of flavour. The garlic and chilli prawns were some of the best I’ve ever had. Nice variety of cocktails and wines too. 10/10 will be back!

Celebrated a friends birthday here and had the best evening. Service was outstanding and staff were so friendly and accommodating. We had a few different dishes and they were all impressive. The chicken beautiful was delicious and we all had so much food we even took some home for lunch the next day!Also cocktails and mocktails went down a treat! We will definitely be back next Wednesday as they have an offer on Wednesdays 25% off! Thank you sumac, you are now our new favourite restaurant!

We were hoping to make a walk in reservation last night. We were told it was a 45min wait, however, they wouldn’t put our name down for a table. We would have to come back in 45mins and see (and we could find ourselves in the same position then). The reason they gave was they didn’t want to disappoint us if we had to wait longer, however, they did disappoint us as we wanted to eat there. The waiter/manager was rude and obviously had no clue how to run a restaurant!

The place is nice and the staff are smiley the food was ok but my partners food was bland and the rice was uncooked, the mojito was also bitter. It's a bit overpriced for what you get. I'm not sure I'd go back

This place is awful, smoke from the establishment meant the whole shopping centre had to evacuate numerous times while we tried to visit escape room opposite.

It is the second time at this restaurant when I order online at home, I wait 1 hour and then they call me and tell me that the order cannot be honored for various reasons. After you wait 1 hour for your order to arrive, they do something like this, It is inadmissible to do twice like that!!! Which restaurant are you?????

We have been to this restaurant multiple times and always enjoy a great meal. Super good portions, tasty food & really chic & comfortable surroundings. However, tonight was outstanding. Our server Ali really excelled in great attentive & kind service. He couldn’t do enough for us. Drinks continuously flowing. I commented to my husband I thought they had changed the dinner plates … they are more like a platter!! The food is just so colourful & flavoursome. They really are an outstanding Turkish restaurant probably the best I’ve been too in years.

The atmosphere and decor is really nice. The service was fine. Unfortunately the food was bland and basic. I love Turkish food and have tried nearly all in MK the food and one cocktail here was a disappointment. I ordered what I always order (chicken bayti) it was quite bland and the rice was unevenly cooked and had lots of hard, uncooked bits that were inedible. Also we had Mojito that was very bitter and unlike the mojito we had in another bar after. No one came to check if the food was ok. We didn't complain because we were really hungry and didn't want to wait. It is quite expensive for what you get and compared to other Turkish restaurants but if the food and cocktail was better it would have been worth it. I wouldn't recommend and sadly wouldn't want to go back.

Went for dinner with colleagues. It’s a nice place with lots of options. Took a while to decide what I wanted. Didn’t like that the white rice was dry without any sauce and curry to go with it.

We had a great night, the food was fantastic, and the cocktails were lush.

Went in to this place for a dinner. A family of four. The food was smelling a bit off and we raised this with one of the waitresses. She looked very terrified to approach one the managers. The manager refused to recognise that the food was abit off. We left the resturant very disappointed.

High value lunch menu and excellent service.

Tried dinning here tonight after a film at Cineworld. Restaurant was not overly busywe were seated at an unset table and the server said he would set it for us. We browsed the menu and decided on what we wanted. After 5 minutes or so, 3 more tables were seated and within minutes they were served with drinks and food orders taken..... Have we become invisible!? After having been seated now for more than 15 minutes and not even a drinks order taken we decided to just get up and leave. As we were doing so, one of the servers tried stopping us, with a PDQ machine in hand, as if we were walking out without paying.... We hadn't even had an order taken. He asked if everything was "OK" to which I replied it wasn't, and all he could say was "Ok thank you, have a lovely day"!! Absolutely shocking and downright rude. Will definitely NOT try this place again.

Friendly service with a smile. I like the fact the waiter explained each part of the meal. Clean fast paced and all round an enjoyable experience. Only recommendation I have is bigger tables, I couldn't fit all my food. But maybe I'm a pig.

A lively restaurant with a great atmosphere, fantastic staff and amazing food. I had the Lamb Shank which was falling off the bone and melted in the mouth. My husband had the Seafood Linguine and said it perfect, especially the calamari. We went for a birthday dinner just the two of us but is the perfect place for couples, big groups and the whole family.

Went on Thursday and from when we arrived the waitress was so lovely, she really wanted us to have a good time and you can tell she enjoys her job. We ordered the set menu, OMG it was fantastic! The meat was delicious and cooked so well. The Cole mezes that was served was also delicious. The only slight criticism is that the bread was not fresh, but we had plenty of food so wasn’t worried.

Me and my daughter went there first time not accomodating despite being only 2 people and resturuant been not too busy. Was immediately turned away however people infront and behind us were served immediately. Not sure if it was intentional but we won't be returning.

Went for lunch as a family of 4 last weekend for lunch for the first time. The lunch set menu was excellent value with great choice at only £12 per head for 2 courses. The food was really tasty and the service just right. Will definitely be back.

Walked in by chance pre cinema,.got a table with no booking. Loved the Byzantine Bramble cocktail. We had hummus, ezme, bread. Mains- king prawn casserole and chicken chokertme. Good service, food didn't take long and was really tasty. We'll definitely be back.

The best restaurant in Milton Keynes! I have been there at least once a month for the last year. Nothing beats it for me. Delicious food, huge portions, excellent service, gorgeous interior, friendly and buzzy atmosphere. I could not fault it in any way. The staff treat customers like royalty and the food is a real feast! I just wish I could afford to go there every week. The chicken shish is 10/10!

Beautiful restaurant with amazing food and fantastic waiters. The service really was great with happy, smiling & friendly waiters (yes, all of them). Food is 2nd to none, truly delicious. The atmosphere and outfit of the restaurant itself is aestheticically pleasing and relaxing. Go!!!

Ordered stuffed chicken breast which was supposed to be a “chefs special”, wasn’t stuffed with anything at all, was extremely dry and bland, tasted like boiled chicken. Food arrived to the table within minutes of ordering, so not fresh at all. Paid over £40 for 2 people for the crappiest meal ever. Contacted them on their contact form on their website and they never replied. Never returning and don’t recommend at all

Great Turkish food and drink. Most of our party went for the set meal - the amount of rice and meat you get for the money is incredible. They managed to service our table of 11 perfectly last minute. Will be visiting again.
