Melis Restaurant in Milton Keynes

Excellent Turkish food. I visited with my colleagues recently, and it's a regular restaurant we visit - although the first time for me. I think the ambience could be improved a bit. Perhaps some slightly dimmer lighting and a bit of a refurb, but overall a very minor criticism for what is an excellent restaurant.

The staff were lovely and welcoming. Especially Harun who went above and beyond to ensure we had a delightful time. The food was great as always and really satisfying. Would highly recommend for a great night out

I think i have discovered my favourite food to be Turkish. it has never dissappointed me so far. Melis is a lovely restaurant that is clean. The staff are very pleasant and treat you with lots of care. the food tasted really good and the liver dish was the best. My only ctriticism would be that the bread gets really hard quite quickly. Nice spot to enjoy some good food. The price was reasonable.

There was 5 of us from Scotland in last night the food was amazing and the price was very good we had fantastic service from Harun he was very friendly and nothing was to much trouble for him even tho we kept changing our drinks would definitely recommend and will definitely be back in when we are back down, thank you 🤓😜

We went into Melis by chance for lunch when on the way to MK Gallery. We had an excellent set lunch, served by very professional and friendly staff. The portions were good and the value outstanding. I have to say lucky MK residents you have a first class Turkish restaurant.

Visited Melis as a birthday treat. Was expecting great things after reading reviews on trip advisor. Got a Chicken Pide for starters which was nice. In additional portion of Lamb Chops. Unfortunately, they were bog standard fairly tough chops. For mains we were recommended the Chefs Specials. I went for the chicken dish, Tavuk Dolma and my wife the lamb dish, Kavurma. Both were incredibly disappointed. My dish was basically a Lamb Karahi. The Virgin Mojito was easily the worst I’ve ever had. Pure sugar. All you could taste. The service however was spot on and the establishment is nicely decorated. It even has a prayer room inside where we were able to pray after breaking our fast. I would give this restaurants a second chance, but this time go for something on the grilled menu.

There were some inconsiderate dinners during our visit, although not the fault of the restaurant, I feel they could have challenged them and perhaps asked them to leave. These where loud, using profanity drunk wasteful etc

Wow, not something you come across every day, very very authentic and I would highly reccomend the Kunefe so leave some room for dessert. Everything was perfectly cooked and wonderfully flavourful so a must try.

I came in to enquire and spoke to Zareen at the bar, she made me feel very welcome 🥰 and Sayed and Yafet answered all my questions. Exactly what you want when enquiring. I came back later on in the week with my friend and the food was amazing- large portions- loved it! 🤩 The staff are very professional and quick especially Raj. I wanted the rice pudding but they did not have it, instead of declining he quickly made it himself in little time for me which was very sweet! Thank you to all the staff and the chefs in the back ofc! 😊

Cosy place, good big portions. Good value for money

Got the shisha lamb was excellent im completely full was very nice extremely nice workers fast food they forgot chips instead of rice but within 20 seconds they gave me chips and I kept the rice one of the best places to go if you have money

Today was our first time visiting the restaurant ,on that account we didn’t know how things work out in there.By the end ,We really enjoyed the food and members of staff were very friendly and polite , except one ( Romanian guy tattooed on neck)👎🏻 .On the arrival he was the first member of staff whom we met so we asked him where can we take a sit and if there is any chance to have a table on the teracce - he approached us in a very rude way , he couldn’t even explain to us properly that there is a smoking (shisha) area outside so unfortunately we will need to find a table inside the restaurant because our baby was with us as well .Very displeased with “the greeting experience “, however it could be a 5/5⭐️ place to have lunch/dinner with friends/family .

I was expecting great things for the reviews online of this restaurant but unfortunately my meal was very small and disappointing considering the price.

I was here with my partner for a meal. I had not been here before but have been to many Turkish restaurants. My main meal was chicken shish which was £18.30. I was expecting two or three skewers of chicken for this as a main meal but it was only one skewer - a very small portion. My partner had salad with added chicken and their meal was quite nice. Strangely, I saw another customer with chicken shish and they had a massive portion. Perhaps they thought as an out of towner, it didn't matter what my meal was like? I don't know but it was the most disappointing Turkish meal for a hefty price. The waiter also tried to automatically add a service charge to the bill.

We recently had a meal at Melis for a party of over 20, Yafet was fantastic making sure we had everything we needed and nothing was too much to ask for. The food was brilliant as well!

Loved the food 😋 salmon and seabass dishes ..the warm bread and dips were delicious. Very welcoming and family atmosphere..Thankyou so much for your kindness ..I shall definitely revisit with my family .

They have very tasty Turkish grills, so good for lunch or dinner.

Food is average, starters vere bland, could not eat it, returned, told the waiter was bad, they still charged me for it. Wasn't even salted. Extremely pricey... No napkins on the table, no salt, had to keep asking them to bring.. The worst was the atmosphere - extremely loud due to a large group of teens... I could not hear my husband opposite... Like is there a manager who could speak to them... It felt like gypsies wedding in there... People from kitchen in and out crossing from the main room in dirty uniforms... Disgusting place I will never visit again

All the food was delicious...best sigar burek i ever had. Mocktails a bit too sweet. Service was amazing. Staff are so friendly and attentive. Thank you to the beautiful turkish lady who spoiled us with yummy homemade goodness every time Turkey scored. Teşekkürler <3

I had an extremely disappointing experience. During my meal, I found a hair in my dish. Understandably, this was off-putting, and I brought it to the attention of the manager. Instead of apologising, the manager was incredibly condescending and insinuated that we must have dropped the hair ourselves. He accused us of finishing the food before noticing the hair, even though we had only taken a couple of bites. I refused to pay for the dish given the situation, but the manager threatened us, insisting on bringing the plates back to prove we had eaten the food. This behavior was unprofessional and completely unacceptable. Not only was there a lack of basic customer service, but he also failed to take responsibility for the issue.

I'm not a fan of Turkish food, but it was superb here. It's a bit noisy, as most places are these days, but the service was good and reasonable prices for the quality of the food.

What a fantastic place. We had a group dinner for 12 people and all the food came out at the same time and hot. The staff were very attentive and we all enjoyed our food very much. Yelda is the owner and also the head chef. She personally thanked us for our visit and we told her that the food was absolutely top drawer. I highly recommend this fabulous restaurant. Thanks again Yelda.🤗

We had a lovely family meal at this restaurant and they were very comforting with allergies we had on this table. I will also name Sophia she was very lovely and had good customer service.

Don’t usually leave reviews but me and my husband visited Melis for the second time this evening, what an amazing restaurant. Had a lovely lady called Sophia serve us and she was brilliant, so friendly and accommodating. Food so fresh and delicious, great atmosphere. 5* for sure.

We ordered a platter to share. Everything was delicious. Especially the grilled meat was so juicy and mouth watering. The portion was really good. Enough for 2 hungry men. I liked the atmosphere and the Turkish music in the background. The food came in time and the service was good too. And the price is great too.

Great food, I recommend the Mix Shish. Lamb was so tender. The bread they give at the start was fresh and the dips were beautiful.

First visit here and loved it. Fantastic food (we ordered the 2 person sharer - so much meat we took half back with us!). Great service and the staff were v friendly. Highly recommended

Great service by the staff! The food was good but I couldn’t eat some of the meat they served and when asked to change to something I could eat they declined. The salad was amazing, they also served bread with Humus, Cacik ,Antep ezme Spinach tarater, Yougurt patlican salad and Patlican salad I couldn’t eat those not that they were bad but I am not used to Turkish food of that sort. I enjoyed the rice, lamb ribs, chicken and drinks. Glad to go back again!

Well, im sorry but didint find anything worth 4.4 stars, came to smoke some Sisha at about 16:10, got welcomed without any welcoming, got told that they are not open yet and they open only after 17:00🤔🤔🤔even though they advertise differently, thx for wasting my time guys 💪

We had a fabulous time and immaculate food, the hospitality was exceptional especially from Raj. He was very welcoming, he did an amazing job and would highly recommend this place. Would definitely come back again. All in all, the service was brilliant.

Had a lovely dinner here, the food platter were tasty. Love the salad and the dressing is just perfect! I have asked a slice of a birthday cake for my husband and they treated him for free,which was a nice gesture. Staff were 👍👍

Definitely have the Turkish tea and have the strter hot meze prawns. Bread and chilli and garlic sauce is delicious. Service is slow.

Been to many turkish restaurants over last 3 years, always order largest platter available, this one was probably one of the worst for 120£ bill. Very disappointing in terms of portions, no lamb chops, no traditional fat style rice but plain skinny pilau, no chicken donner or meat donner, god knows how they got 2.1k reviews 😢

The Turkish BBQ is eye-catching, with good service from staff, good quality food, and reasonable prices. I ordered grilled chicken, mutton and salmon to share. It also came with bread and Turkish special sauce. It was really delicious😋

Don't waste your time with this place! My recent delivery meal experience fell well short of expectations. Upon receiving my order, I discovered several missing items, which was disappointing. While the restaurant did send out what was missing, they arrived cold, diminishing the overall enjoyment of the meal. This oversight and subsequent delivery of cold replacements left me unsatisfied, especially having visited and ordered from here on a few occasions. Crazy how quickly standards can fall

I loved it very much. Presentation, taste, service, all excellent. If you want to explore this kind of food, I recommend the hot and cold sharing platters, both.

Very disappointing visit. Four of us visited without booking a table on a Saturday night. A table was very quickly made which we appreciated, and we sat down and decided what to drink and eat. When the waiter came to take our order we were then told that the licence had expired so they could not serve alcohol, and that a sainsburys was around the corner and we could get drinks from there and drink them in the restaurant. We accepted this, ordered food and two of us went in search of sainsburys. After a ten minute walk we found it, and by this time there were no cold beers or any cocktails to drink. So we took the long walk back to the restaurant without anything to drink. When we got back to the restaurant whilst waiting for food we had to order table water 5 times to actually receive a drink of something. By this point as it had been over 30 minutes waiting, we needed more water. Again we had to ask 3 times for another bottle of tap water. Food was good but the overall experience was very disappointing. The bill came with a service charge, which I do not believe for 4 people should have been automatically added, therefore we removed it, as it was not deserved. On first impression the place looked and smelt amazing, but we left extremely disappointed.

😟 Beware Nut allergy !!☹️ servers are not aware of nut allergy. Bread has sesame seeds ( no alternative) , and I am extremely allergic to humous.🫣 only found out when about to eat . Sadly no manager in sight and be prepared to take risks. Cocktails were very very alcohol light ! Be extremely cautious

Went there to celebrate a friends 18th and they were very welcoming and after an initial mistake with the food, they were quick to rectify this and gave us some of the food for free and organised a special birthday cake and baklava. Lovely servers and big shout out to Christian. Would recommend

Excellent Turkish restaurant, great service, really good lunch menu

Un lugar muy bonito y acogedor. Perfecto para ir en familia, yo fui con mi novia y a ella le encanto, a ella le gusta mucho todo lo que tenga que ver con Turquía, es bueno si tu eres fan de la comida mediterránea.

Probably the best lamb kebap I have had in the UK, the meat just melted in the mouth. One tip, we had a pide to start to share between two, unless you are very hungry, DON'T. They are excellent, but a full meal in themselves. WE are used to the pide served in Turkey which is a mini boat shaped pizza size, not 18" long. Try the Turkish wine (Yakut) , reasonable price and as good as the European or antipodean options.

Nous avons fêté l'anniversaire de mon marie à Petit Corne Biche (Arbonne-la-Forêt). C'était vraiment excellent. Accueil très chaleureux, les vins et les repas délicieux. La salle avec la cheminée est très jolie. Nous reviendrons avec un grand plaisir dans ce restaurant.
