Dined in, kebab and rice with salad. It arrived cold. Absolute shame, it got cold so quick that the diner was stuck to the plate, due to the fat drying up and setting to the plate. I just sat their with my friends and enjoyed the get together rather than the food

Try not to eat too much bread the main meal won't be enjoyed, otherwise great food

I had a disappointing experience at Sultan Sofrası recently. We chose the restaurant because the website clearly states that it closes at 12 AM. Arriving at around 10:20-10:30 PM, we were seated and began placing our orders. While deciding on drinks after ordering our main dishes, a staff member, who appeared to be Bengali, rudely interrupted us. He strictly demanded we hurry up, saying, "Make your order ASAP because we don’t have time," without any courtesy or even a "please." This raised a simple question: why were we allowed to sit and order in the first place if they were in such a rush? When we pointed out that the website indicates a 12 AM closing time, his behavior became even more unprofessional. He flatly refused to take our order, so we had to ask for the manager. The manager eventually took our order, but the entire interaction left us feeling unwelcome. To make matters worse, the service continued to lack basic hospitality. For example, after finishing our starters, no large plates were provided for the main dishes, which is a standard at most Turkish restaurants. The food itself was overly salty to the point where it seemed intentional, adding to the disappointing experience. Finally, when settling the bill, there was no "thank you" or acknowledgment from the staff, which is the least one would expect after dining out. Overall, the experience was far from what we had anticipated. Poor service, subpar food, and rude Bengali staff make it hard to recommend Sultan Sofrası.

Really poor service.Specially that Bengali waiter don’t even know how to welcome their customer.If your website states that your closing time on Thursday at 12am then why you denied it and said closing time at 11pm why??And even we asked them are you open while we entered in restaurant.they said yes and let us seat.after while taking order waiter was in rush to taking order.!you can’t push your customer to order quickly or even you are nearly closing time you could ask them nicely but he doesn’t even said please before rushing.and denied that closing time isn’t at 12am.they don’t even give us plates for main course we had to ask for plates..! Lastly food was salty.we are not new customer we went there before and that time food was really nice that’s why we went again..Very disappointed..!

This is my regular go to place for Turkish food, and I’ve always enjoyed the experience. The food is consistently delicious, served very quickly, and the staff are usually very friendly and welcoming. However, my visit yesterday felt quite unusual. While the male waiter was exceptionally friendly, the tall lady waiter who seemed like she might be a family member of the staff or perhaps the manager came across as rude and abrupt. It was disappointing, especially since I came with my elderly mum, who also noticed her strange behavior. To make matters worse, it was my daughter’s birthday, and the atmosphere felt off. For the first time, we decided to leave quickly without staying for dessert or the traditional Turkish tea we always look forward to. It’s a shame because I love this place and don’t plan to stop coming altogether, but this experience has made me rethink how often I’ll return.

The food was beautiful and the atmosphere was nice. The prices were reasonable. Iskender kebab was very delicious, as were the pastries. The employee, Arina, was very kind and cooperative. The restaurant is Turkish and serves Turkish sake as well.

Best Turkish food in east London

Absolutely delicious Turkish food-we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Hummus and mushrooms for starters with warm bread and some fantastic dips. Husbands lamb chops were perfectly cooked as was my lamb and chicken. The rice and salad are beautiful accompaniments. The service was great too -a lovely young lady served us. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

Every time I get take away food fantastic but the salad is awful because they put salad ready-made inside the container which always goes off and stinks they don't pull fresh salad inside the container is two days old. When I ask him to give me fresh salad he refused.

I have been a customer of this place (takeaways mostly) for a good few years now and today I decided to go there for a meal (twice before setting in for a meal too). Was greeted by a lovely waitress, she set me down and gave me the menu. When I was ready to order this other waitress came and I asked her if I could have the £ 19-something item consisting of chicken shish, lamb shish, adana kebab with rice and salad, and whatnot. I asked her if I could have ribs instead of Adana kebab to which she replied "No I cannot change anything" I said I'll pay extra but she again said the same thing to me and I thought her customer service was a bit rude because of the way she said that to me without any explanation to why it cannot be changed. I normally take takeaways from this place and they always changed the item for me as I paid the extra difference. So disappointed in the way I was refused because I loved the food in there. I'll never come to this place again. This review is not about getting other people not to come here as I wouldn't do that.. the food is extremely tasty there so I'd urge people to go there. I'd only ask the management to cater to customers who are willing to pay the extra costs and train their staff members.. thank you.

I was there on Friday the 31st of may Food was very chewy I ordered 6 wraps The lamb and chicken shawarma where very greasy and chewy and the falafel was uncooked Had to throw it away I will never use it again I wouldn’t recommend it

Great place for a celebration! It was a very last minute booking but we were graciously accommodated. We were a party of 25 and they really gave us a great service. The icing on the cake was the food! Delicious!!!! We will be coming back again

The chicken shish was so disgusting it tasted like the grill they cooked it on, they saw that I didn't eat my food and did not even offer me anything else as a good gesture the staff was very rude and they tried to pull a sneaky one and keep quiet after you pay them and not give your change until you ask for it. AVOID THIS PLACE! Went to that place 17/05/2024 time was 16:45 there was tall guys he very rude asking for manager tall kitchen guys said he is onwer of the restaurant very very rude guys I never see he just try to attack me to avoid this place there are so many restaurants in East London why would I go? he can't even speak properly

If I could possibly describe this place in two words... Absolutely Abysmal! I was highly recommended this place by a friend, but after this appalling experience I am left questioning his taste buds and his level of self respect. What should have been an early red flag was the fact that the staff completely disregarded our group once we turned up, with half the restaurant filled with empty seats. Once we were finally seated, to say the level of service was appalling would be a complete understatement. I was completely ignored on multiple occasions by multiple waiting staff, while they would address the needs of the table right next to us instead. They even sent some of our food to the table next us, which the customers had to pass over to us without the staff even batting an eyelid. I would understand if the restaurant was extremely busy for these rookie mistakes to be made but it was barely half full. ...And don't even get me started on the food. The lahmacun was probably the worst I have ever tasted (and I've had cheap takeaway lahmacun), with it tasting like it had been sweatboxing in that refrigerator for a good day or two. No crisp, completely soggy middle and lacking any last bit of flavour. The mains were no better. I had to look at my phone to see the date to make sure they weren't playing an April fools joke on us when those sad looking fragments of chicken and Lamb shish came out. To add insult to injury it cost roughly £20 for a plate. Which got me questioning, did I just pay £20 for salad? The audacity is truly unreal, especially when you have other local Turkish spots like Adana (Bethnal green) which provide a far greater level of quality for a significantly cheaper price. I really have dug deep to try and find at least one good thing about this restaurant and I think I'd be pushing it to say the very least their wet wipes were of adequate quality. That is as far as I can go unfortunately. Overall, I'd have to say I would go as far as saying I'd rather go to Maedah Grill than to come back here, and Maedah is the equivalent to running a marathon with no legs. So save your money and spend it at a place that values you as a customer and not just your wallet.

I honestly do not understand how this place has a 4.2. I’m actually baffled. I never write reviews but felt the need to after this experience. My friends and I went here and it was BAD. I rate wherever I go based on 4 things. Customer service, price, taste, and portion size for the money. For starters, the customer service was actually insulting. My friends and I have never experienced anything like this before. We walked in and asked for a table and the person that seated us rolled their eyes when they saw us. They asked if we had a reservation which we did not. The place was barely half full and till we left there were still many tables available. So they couldn’t have been mad if they had tables reserved. Also they would have said if they had tables reserved. So I didn’t understand the face the person made when seeing us. Do they not want customers? Once we sat down my friend tried to call someone over and they saw my friend but didn’t even bother attending to him. They attended to others instead. Including the table that was sitting right next to us. My friend called out to the same waiter multiple times. This waiter looked at my friend and ignored him everytime. Price was daylight robbery. And it goes hand in hand with the portion size too as it was not worth the price compared to other Turkish places like gokyuzu which is far better for the price, portion size, taste/quality and customer service. £19.95 for a mixed shish only for the portion size to be tiny and not even taste good. We all looked at our plates confused and were disappointed with the taste and could not believe we were being charged this much for something so below average. Summary. Horrible service, taste was bad. Lacked so much flavour. Way overpriced. Portions were small. Not worth it at all. Just go to somewhere else honestly.

We have ordered lahmacun but it was the worst lahmacun I have ever seen. Have tried some and only managed less than a half to eat cause it was not cooked and thickest dough you can see on lahmacun. I am not even mentioning salad they have sent with it.

I booked two week in advance due to Ramadan I didn’t want to rush. I arrived my table was already. We quickly ordered our platter. As food was taking time I thought I’ll quickly pray, they have small court yard at the rear as soon as I started to look for pray area other brothers joined around 10 of us guy prayed. Welcome Bread is really tasty. We ordered platters for 4, Food was juicy, hot, fresh and most importantly tasty. Spice and marination was spot on…service was friendly and the atmosphere was great, decent place to have a meal. We fancied ice cream for dessert they’ve run out with kids option on ice cream, so we come out crossed over the road and walked in to dessert shop to complete our evening meal 😀
