We've been here before and it's a really nice, friendly atmosphere. Staff are always great, polite and accommodating. The pub is situated on the canal with nice views, a good seated outdoor area and it is dog friendly so you always see a lot of cute dogs which is a bonus ! The food is so good here, each time i try to get something different - myself and my partner got the smothered chicken burger with an extra chicken burger on each and they were huge ! The chips that come with it were lovely and we got beer battered onion rings which were extremely reasonably priced at 1.99 and delicious ! My father in law got the mixed grill which he said was amazing, it was a massive plate of food and he added peppercorn sauce which he said was the best he had had. For dessert we chose the brownie duo which comes with ice cream - the brownie is huge and i must admit i was never keen on brownies - before i tried this one ! My father in law chose the crumble of the day which was apple and cleared the bowl. Fantastic service and great location for a pretty canal walk to walk off the fantastic food!

Myself and my partner came here today. It's in a great location along the canal with lovely scenery along the way. The staff were all very friendly and attentive and the food was excellent and portion sizes are really filling. The menu has set deals which are cheaply priced and everything else was also equally reasonable. The starter, main and dessert were brought out with impeccable timing. Lovely decor with a comfy, cozy vibe and the music was relaxed. One of the staff members saw that we were watching f1 on one of our phones and put it on the tv for us. Thank you, we will definetly be back next time we come to Hebden Bridge.

Rather a disappointing experience. Having been to the Stubbins for many years, it seems to have gone down the pan. Two weeks before Christmas and the place was cold! I fully understand that pubs need to make a profit but, no heating on and, a lovely inviting open fire unlit? Ok, a member of the staff did light the fire but, not until 12.30 ish, shurely the heating etc. should have been on scince 11.00? The food was ok, nothing special. I for one will find a different place to eat. Such a shame as it used to be a cracking pub ☹.

This is a lovely pub situated next to the canal, with great beers and lovely staff. I'm afraid however, that the food is patchy at best. Both of our meals were sub-par. My pasta was bland, as was the meat pie, which was served with potato that tasted like Smash - remember that from the 70's? 😳 The gravy was solid. ☹️ I'll put it down to bad luck/bad day, because so many of the reviews here are fantastic. There's far better in Hebden - go find it.

My friend and I had a lovely meal this evening, here, for my birthday. It's a cosy pub and the food was delicious but what stood out to us the most, was the wonderful waitress. From the moment we arrived, she welcomed us and served us always with a smile. She was polite, friendly and working so hard single handedly serving everyone. Called in Friday evening for a meal. We were a party of 3, there were around another 5 people in, it's a shame really as it's a nice pub. I understand why it's not full due to the excessive price of the alcohol. Food was ok, albeit the burgers were massively overcooked. The Eton mess desert wasn't Eton mess, it was ice cream with squirty cream on top and a strawberry finely chopped on top of the squirty cream, the meringue was a quarter of a meringue nest perched on top, disappointed to say the least. Food prices were reasonable for the quality and limited choice. Probably wouldn't eat there again.

We had a bit of a strange experience here. The positives are that the food was good and there were loads of vegan and vegetarian options. When I asked about gluten free options (there being nothing obvious on the menu I got the reply that the potato skin starter was the only option. We were about to leave when I noticed steak on the specials board. Yes they could do that without onion rings which was great. They then served it with onion rings! After an apology they took the rings away. As the server left I asked if they had any mustard? "I don't think so but I'll check". Sadly I did not see him again until after the meal. Other tables had baskets of condiments I later noted. Then as we were finishing our meal someone added gammon steak to the specials. No doubt gluten free. I have given them the benefit of the doubt with three stars , but if you are on a gf diet it is best avoided. Oh, and there was an aggressive gsd making life difficult for anyone else who had a dog. The customers fault, not the dogs and the landlord did not know what to do . I downgraded to two stars when the response showed that they had clearly not read the review suggesting they will not address the issues.

Very surprised at the quality for the price, and the kid’s portion was massive! The baguettes were fresh and fully loaded, the chips were proper (double or even triple fried, certainly not frozen) and the salad was fresh and well presented. Service was fab and the setting was lovely. Worth noting that there are two outdoor sections, road side and canal side, I would definitely recommend canal side. We chose here to eat as it gave us a perfect loop to play/walk/ eat with our 3 year old and 3 dogs in tow. We parked at hebden train station (only 50p an hour make sure to take change) and then walked 5 mins to Calder Homes Park, the park had a great variety and was really well kept. We then took a nice stroll down the canal looking at the narrow boats and arrived at stubbing wharf about 25 mins later (google maps will tell you it’s 15 min walk but there were geese and boats and flowers to admire so those with little ones just need allow that extra time). Service was quick at the wharf and it was pleasantly refreshing to have a selection of non-alcoholic ales on offer. Will definitely recommend and visit again!

We’ve been a few times over the years and always enjoyed the food .traditional country pub , next to the caneL so popular with dog walkers. We thought the Covid precautions were good and felt safe . Service was good. Generous portions I had steak pie , served in the pot with a flaky pastry top and hubby had cheese and leek pie( about £12 each ) cooked fresh , both served with chunky chips and fresh mixed veg. The food was, as always, decent pub food. We enjoyed it. However, the place did not feel at all well ventilated, the one-way signage is insufficient (many customers leaving by squeezing past people queueing to get in), and there was no system whatsoever for the women's toilets. Also, the waiting staff need to remember to allow customers to remove their own drinks from the trays. We'll be back, but probably not for some time (post-Covid, probably).

I went with my family on Thursday day time as we were in search of a nice pub lunch. I remember coming here before for drinks and thought the food looked good. We shared the garlic mushroom starter which was great. For mains, my mum had the gammon which came in a very generous portion, my dad had the wharf burger which he said was delicious and I had the battered haddock sandwich which was very filling and tasted great. We were full but couldn’t resist dessert where we got a sticky toffee pudding and a malteaser cheesecake to all share. They were delicious. Pub was very clean. On the whole Staff were very friendly, we only had one issue. We were sat prior to meal, canal side with our dogs waiting for our slot on the Hebden Bridge Cruises and we were sat on one of the benches. A Bar Man came out to place ash trays on the tables, looked at us, sighed and shook his head. Why? goodness only knows. If he had of asked I could have told him we had a table booked for later. Let me start by saying that the food was excellent. However, the service was lacking. It is table service only, and We were promptly shown to a table upstairs, in the back corner. We were served our drinks and food in a timely fashion, but this is where the service went downhill. I appreciate that things are difficult in the current climate, but at no time were we approached to see if everything was ok, or more importantly, if there was anything else we needed. Like maybe a second round of drinks. After we finished eating, we waited another 10 minutes before someone came to clear the table and enquire if we wanted anything else. After waiting over 20 minutes with an empty glass, I just got the bill and left. Sad to say, I probably won't go back until things return to some semblance of normality.

We visited a couple of weeks ago in search of a proper roast dinner. Our table was book for tea time. We stood around waiting to be seated for about 5minutes. It was our first visit & I highly doubt we will be back. It’s safe to say we were disappointed. The gravy resembled chocolate sauce and tasted like it had been made from a cheap version of bisto. 2 small roast potatoes that appeared to have been deep fried & not at all crispy, 2 small slices of beef, a bought in Yorkshire pudding & a dish of basic veg. Disappointing. The veg soup starter was more like a grainy purée. My cappuccino was lacking in coffee. We didn’t hand around for dessert & we ended up ordering a take away later that evening.

Our waitress, Kate, took the food & drink order promptly but the pub was then faced with a challenge - a large group, post-funeral, arrived. They'd all pre-booked food but needed to buy drinks. This can put any kitchen off its stride and, understandably, our food orders were delayed. We had been enjoying the 'on offer' IPA beer in the meantime, while chatting with fellow customers. When my wife's chicken breast dish & my pork belly choice arrived, I was very impressed with both the generous portions and the quality of the ingredients. . Absolutely delicious & clearly freshly cooked. Kate offered very genuine and kind apologies for the delay, even though it did not spoil our meal or the whole experience in any way. This is a brilliant country pub with staff who genuinely care about the food they produce, and the people they serve. A jewel. Thanks again, Kate. We will certainly return on your next visit to Hebden. Highly recommended.

This is a cracking place survived the floods and has come back well. Better now the fittings are a bit more weathered. The food looks good and the beer is good across the board. Perfect location. Just the staff are a bit young and inexperienced. It’s good they employ young people just there’s a certain naivety and lack of intimacy which perhaps discourages locals. A small thing in that the pub is not aimed at locals but just a fraction more emphasis on the punter would be good. Otherwise a really good pub still

we were at Hebden Bridge for a 4 night break in august and ate twice at Stubbing wharf. They had a great range of ales and it was fantastic to sit outside in the sunshine. The food was of a high quality and the steak was a particular highlight. would recommend and hope to return at some point.

We went with the family for lunch. Food was great, corned beef pie £7.95 just enough for two of us with a smaller appetite. Our son had beef wellington (a normal size portion quite large) daughter-in-
