Fabulous place. Went there last night for dinner and it couldn’t have been better. The pie was fabulous - and served with a delicious gravy and plenty of chips (no measly half portions here!). The wine was lovely and very reasonably priced. And the people working there were knowledgeable, polite and all-round smashing. We will be going back very soon.

not bad used the cheap lunch menu £ 26 for cou0le of meals, one burger and chips nice, I'd stick to good old fashioned plain chips mind and a cauli veg pie and chips gravy lovely meals nice but nothing to write home about but ok I do wish they would pressure clean the flags do look grubby!! and then seal them brighten up the rooms! furniture looked a bit shabby...but main menu looked expensive for a pub.. overall 6 out of 10 might return on a good day.

Only one Malt whisky on offer, but a lovely NZ Sauvignon Blanc. Also no non dairy milk alternative to offer for tea or coffee, strange in this day and age... Need to pay attention to the basics. Other than that, food looked lovely. We will give it another try as it looked like new owners.

This was really outstanding, especially for the price. I came here a few times under the previous management and it was ok, but fairly basic pub grub. The new food though is really, really good. I went for a hot honey chicken burger, which was absolutely great and genuinely these were some of the best chips I've had anywhere. I eat out a lot and often pay substantially more for food that is not on this level. Looking forward to my next visit!

Quirky place on the side of the canal, with a steep turn up from the main road, but large enough car park. We ordered a Sunday Lunch sharing platter, it was a few more quid than 2 individual Sunday lunches, but we're celebrating, so why not. Sadly disappointed in the amount of food, half of it must have been less than a normal meal, unless it's usually served on a tea plate. It left my partner hungry. Was more mashed potato than anything else. The taste, quality, and quantity was medíocre, nothing to rush back for. What a shame. We were given a time slot to be away from our table, as it was booked for a 2nd sitting, so you can't stay and chat there, which feels a little unwelcoming. Nicely situated for a walk along the canal afterwards, but you probably can't leave your vehicle after you've left the premises.

We recommended by some friends to give this pub another try, it was bought by a chain some time ago, and when we visited it was rubbish. The newish owners have done wonders with the menu, lots of choice, with different meals plus the standard classics. Specials board mostly sold out, always a good sign of quality, dog friendly always a bonus, good choice of ales, friendly staff. We had the spicy lamb with Yorkshire chorizo stew, mash , crispy kale, toasted ciabatta, brisket and red wine pot pie, handmade rosemary chips, mushy peas, and beer and onion gravy. We managed to get a table, but it was very busy. I recommend booking, plenty of tables, and I think they have more upstairs. You can access the canal at the rear of the pub to walk into Hebden Bridge after eating, outside seating is available at the front and rear of the pub. Will definitely return so why not see for yourself, congratulations to all of the team for a lovely lunch, pre Strictly.

Family of 4 (pre-booking) visited today for a much needed Sunday lunch, very little room for improvement, mains and deserts went down a treat. The portions are excellent and exactly what you expect from dining out, with a perfect balance between quantity, quality and cost. Staff are super friendly and the atmosphere is subtle and welcoming, dogs are welcome also with treats and water ready to accommodate the fury friends. Will definitely visit again, highly recommended.

This is a lovely pub. The ambience is great, as is the service. However, on my latest visit, I was not impressed with the heavy consistency of the ciabatta or th e chips, although plentiful, were overcooked or precooked and not heated up properly as they were dried out. A few weeks later I have not had a reply discussing the issues I had. Disappointing!

I arrived a bit late for lunch around 3pm. Unfortunately, despite being ravenous the food was disappointing. Perhaps had I arrived earlier the meat, which was dry and tough, would have spent less time being kept warm and losing its moisture. The cauliflower cheese was also lacklustre being more bechamel than cheese, but the large, crispy roast potatoes and flavorful gravy saved the meal. The purple sprouting broccoli was perfectly cooked, as were the roasted half carrot and half parsnip, if only there was a slightly larger portion of them. The service was great—friendly and attentive staff. The pub is a lovely spot to sit outside by the canal in good weather. I would return for a pint by the canal-side but would not recommend a visit for food.

Fabulous canalside restaurant / pub. The food is delicious, and the vegetarian options exceptional, the cauliflower and smoked cheese pot pie, to die for. Ate there with friends who all had meat options, and everything was spot on. Delicious, hot and homemade chips. Good selection or beers and wine. Enjoyed it so much we went for lunch a day later and the same experience. The cauliflower and pototoe burger with butter bean hummus another veggie delight. Dog friendly and a nice fire for the chilly days.

Sadly, when this place changed hands we were promised a whole new experience. Ok, so the massive tv screens have gone that is a point in their favour. I booked a table and it was ready for me so that was a good start, What wasn't obvious was what I was supposed to about ordering my food and drink. There are still signs up from the previous owners telling people where to order food that isn't true anymore. So, I went to the bar and ordered eventually as there clearly weren't enough bar staff and one of them seemed to be in a day dream. I went back to my table and then was told that the meal I had ordered had sold out. Surely with today's technology that should have been made clear to the person taking my order. Ok, these things happen. So I ordered a fish sandwich. What arrived was actually ok but, the fish barely covered half of the panini it came in. I have been told by friends that they weren't very impressed either. In their defence, they are a very new team of people (some of whom need to b let go of) and hopefully the service will improve but, they need to upgrade the food if they are hoping to attract locals rather than one off tourists. I will try again in a few months time and hopefully they will have ironed out most of the issues mentioned here.

We haven’t been to Stubbing Wharf for some years, and only visit Stubbing Wharf when we visit are daughter who lives in Hebden Bridge. I take it that there is new ownership, well the food is amazing specially the rib eyed stake, it’s a pleasant pub and not to expensive. I have dropped it 1 Star for a remedial thing that should never happen, and that was the food came with a chipped plate. But this did not take away from the good food. This is the second time in a week I have been to Stubbing Wharf, this time was for a Sunday roast, wow this is how food should be full of flavour and not stingy on the portions. The week before we went to a pub/restaurant which is above Todmorden, That place could learn a lot from Stubbing wharf. That place left out vegetables are saying that they run out in the morning. There are potatoes, was one small spud, cut in half, A spoonful of mash, a large Yorkshire pudding gravy and meat and some greens. When we left Stubbing Wharf we knew we had a lovely Roast like we have down inthe West Country. When we return to Hebden Bridge to see are family, Well I know where to come next time.

We've been coming to the pub for the last 4 years and use it as a base for walks on the canal. We always stop and have drinks and food after our walk, and generally, both have been very good. We've recommended the pub to lots of friends and they've used it too. Yesterday, we brought my elderly father for lunch and couldn't believe the change in the few weeks since our last visit. Firstly, the place was filthy. The carpet under our table was disgusting, and as we found out that the people on the next table who were regulars to the pub had noticed it too, and having seen this, they were refusing to order food. The toilets are a disgrace and in need of renovation. I ordered the chicken tikka masala from the menu, and it was a microwaved meal with four pieces of chicken and the tiniest nann bread ever that was like cardboard and inedible. My wife's Hunter's chicken was well below par too. I really didn't want to complain as it was a treat from my father for an upcoming birthday meal. The barman, who is always very nicely confessed that the food was microwaved meals and would remove the curry from the bill and this was without my father knowing, thankfully he was at the toilet at the time. It's very disappointing as we love going, but we won't return until it hopefully changes the way the food is cooked and the place is cleaned.

The pub is situated on the canal with nice views, a good seated outdoor area and it is dog friendly so you always see a lot of cute dogs which is a bonus ! The food is so good here, each time i try to get something different - myself and my partner got the smothered chicken burger with an extra chicken burger on each and they were huge ! The chips that come with it were lovely and we got beer battered onion rings which were extremely reasonably priced at 1.99 and delicious ! My father in law got the mixed grill which he said was amazing, it was a massive plate of food and he added peppercorn sauce which he said was the best he had had. For dessert we chose the brownie duo which comes with ice cream - the brownie is huge and i must admit i was never keen on brownies - before i tried this one ! My father in law chose the crumble of the day which was apple and cleared the bowl. Fantastic service and great location for a pretty canal walk to walk off the fantastic food!

Very poor experience. Food was disappointing and when we spoke to the waitressshe was disinterested. I emailed the pub giving detailed reasons for our disappointment and had no reply. Definitely would not recommend! Despite having booked we had to wait over an hour for our food.

We recently held a private family event at the Duke of York, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. From start to finish, Ellie and the team looked after us with the upmost care and professionalism. The food was excellent. All our needs were catered for seamlessly, making it a truly memorable occasion. Highly recommend the Duke of York for any special event.

This place looks lovely but that's as good as it gets. We booked and arrived on time. The waitress took us to a table but didn't say anything. The table wasn't clean, no drinks menu. We waited for over 15 minutes before we had to be asked to be served. The waitress was horrendous she didn't look interested and got our drinks order wrong. The main meal was good but we hadn't even finished our food before she tried to take it away. It then took us another 30 minutes to get the bill and another 20 minutes to pay. Overall: not great, the staff need training in actually serving people... Another good course would be... How to greet people.

I came here for a pint with my partner on a Saturday at 4pm. We were able to find a table and I got served at the bar quite quickly. Prices are good compared to some other places nearby. Nice vintage pub decor and a good selection on beers and spirits. Some cocktails are available on a 2 for £12 deal. And there is free WiFi available.
