WOW!! The bestest, highest quality food! Loads of character, warm and hugely friendly. Worth travelling to Aldershot for!!! I’d go so far as to say, the best thing to come to Aldershot by miles. Really made mine and my partners my day out perfect. The Chef is simply amazing. The quality of the meat, pies and Liquor is first class. These guys are a hit and are going to go far.

Do not expect a direct copy of the Mansies recipe. The owner makes her pies on the premises and they taste great, especially with the liquor. I had two steak pies, mash and liquor and thoroughly enjoyed it. The drinks are limitless and the owner even gave me one of her Yorkshire teabags as I like strong tea. They also offer other varieties of pie which were also delicious according to other members of my party. The surroundings have been designed to look like an old fashioned pie and mash shop with marble tables and benches, but without the sawdust. I recommend a visit. Pity it's located in the Wellington centre rather than on street as I'm sure it would bring in more trade.

Pie & mash regular diet growing up in London.since moving to suburbs 40 years ago had to rely on internet & deliveries. Staffords pies are among the best I have tasted, real liquor, good mash, even chilli vinegar all at reasonable price, well worth the visit

Visited Stratford to give it a try was disappointed. Had the chicken and mushroom pie with mashed potato and gravy was excellent. Then I received mince pie and ice-cream which was free. Staff were very friendly and the place was very clean will definitely be back.

I can’t say it matches the Tooting pie and mash but it’s lovely to see something British and traditional! Could do with extra liquor and a bit thicker but I can honestly say the service and friendliness of the staff will make me return!! Especially when treated to some free jellied eels!!

I also grew up in London and had pie mash and liquor every week. I wouldn’t say it’s the best I’ve had but as close to it you are going to get this far from London. Overall quality was good and authentic. Will be going for more.

Worst pie and mash ever had. Pies had no gravy. Liquor was rubbish. Nothing like manzes or harrentons

Growing up with pie and mash, ie portobello rd, Shepherd’s Bush and a long gone(50years plus) in Lille rd fulham, the last chance I had in last year was tower bridge rd, so when I found this to be open near me....yes,yes! Ah, no. Very lukewarm. I’ve been twice here, so it’s not a one off. Mash is ok. I’m not a huge lover of mash though, but the pies? Well where has the meat gone. The liquor is close(ish). At manzes, tower bridge last time, it was fair to say theirs was anemic, so even the so called “best”get it wrong. Look, for people who like pie and mash,it will probably work sort of. It’s not Arments/manzes etc, so look at it slightly different that it’s a shop that needs refining with the heat and pies and be thankful this isn’t another Costa

Good old fashioned pie and mash shop. Authentic style so if you are looking for some type of trendy millennial style cafe suitable for snowflakes then I’d go elsewhere

So, the shop is cute and clean. The pies are like a tesco own 4 pack basic pie, mash is mash and gravy is like any gravy granules gravy. For a ice cream scoop of mash and a basic minced meat pie with thin gravy ... should’ve stayed home. Get a better pie and portion for the same amount at the pub. Poorly heated up as well. You go to the till order, then get shouted your order when it’s ready, a little bizarre considering no one else was in the shop and the pricing for cheap food... not sure what the woman was being paid for. Everything is paid for separately as well, and served on large plates, so the more you have the pricier it gets. I wouldn’t say it’s worth the money. Had to add salt and pepper as was pretty tasteless.

Finally went for pie & mash today in the new shop in town. I used to go to pie & mash shops in the east end of London growing up and walking into the shop was like going back in time to my childhood. The restaurant was spotless, the staff were friendly and the food was amazing. Next time it’ll be double pie!! Fabulous place.

I'm very glad this place exists and really wanted it to be good as the Hairdressers next door is great and Aldershot really needs new business so i was looking forward to supporting it. The place itself is quite nice inside, but the layout is a little strange. Feels a bit cramped and the route to the till is not the clearest. Service is a bit surly, but that doesn't really bother me. The main disappointment was the pies. They were OK. Just OK. They tasted like when i have tried to make pie at home, and i am not the best at making pies. They are a very flat and the pastry is a bit soggy. It also stuck to the bottom of the tray and was quite tricky to eat. Wasn't a great deal of filling in them and they don't look very appealing either. I've never had "proper" London pie and mash, but when you compare them to other modern pie outlets, such as Pieminister or Square Pie they are not even close. I understand these are more costly, but they are far better value. So overall i think what they are doing is a fantastic idea and wish them every success, but the fundamental thing is they need to be serving good pies and unfortunately they are failing at this.

Popped into Farnborough for a quick few items ....noticed a Wimpy which I have'nt visited for more then 30 years. Service was quick burger and a tea cake cooked to perfection. The restaurant is super clean with spotless floors and tables compared to a MuckDonalds...table service was absolutely perfect with no hovering about which I hate. Will return in the near future and prices very reasonable. Certainly took me back to the 60's / 70's. Rather have a Wimpy over a MuckDonalds any day. 5 stars *****
