Fantastic staff and B&B . Stayed for 1 night the accommodation was lovely very clean and well decorated. We took our two dogs and they were made to feel special ( the breakfast sausage for the dogs was great our dogs loved it ) . Our breakfast was very tasty and well presented. The honest bar was another great idea and sat by the inglenook fire with our glass of wine was a nice end the the evening . We stayed in a suite upstairs with a beautiful view and our dogs sat for ages by the french doors watching the rabbits 😂😂😂. Overall will definitely go back for longer next time .

We attended our friends wedding here a couple of weeks ago....and what a delightful weekend it was. The Strand Hotel is a gorgeous little gem of a place. The staff were so lovely and friendly. Nothing was a problem. The hotel itself is charming, quirky rooms full of original character. The level of cleanliness was excellent and the food top quality. Its certainly a place to escape to and chill out. Would definitely recommend it. It's also only 5 minutes drive away from the lovely little place of Rye.

Billed as charming and 750 years old. It is interesting and very pretty. However the smell of the room gets to you straightaway. Whilst one can overlook the very tiny room and practically every thing else tiny, and the low and slopping ceilings (comes together with the history), the smell is dreadful and opening the small windows don’t help. Breakfast was hearty and in a garden setting, most picturesque. Not recommended beyond one or two nights (principally due to the smell).

This visit booked two rooms Hastings and Battle, modern well equipped bathrooms, fluffy large towels, hairdryer, most comfortable beds with the best pilows and linen. Fridge worked well, tean and coffee makings provided.

Had a great weekend here. A quaint and quirky B & B with masses of character. Relaxed and welcoming service. Plenty of facilities in the rooms. The breakfast wasn't great - not v hot and not v well cooked - but that was the only downside. The location is great and v quiet.

We only had breakfast when we stayed but they also provide afternoon teas and Saturday eve meals. Breakfast was lovely and service excellent.

We came for the weekend to get away from London and couldn't have had a nicer stay. The house is an old Tudor build with all the original beams and the bedroom furniture is all antique, giving a real sense of atmosphere and history to the trip. Breakfast was really delicious with local honey and apple juice, a selection of fresh fruits and cereals and an organic cooked breakfast made to order. Nothing was too much trouble for our two hosts, who made us feel really welcome. Plus the surrounding countryside, coastline and the proximity to the beautiful town of Rye make Strand House an ideal location. A well deserved 5 stars!

Gorgeous food, intimate dining, faultless service. Nothing to dislike. We were made to feel very welcome and the food was all locally sourced.

We effectively "took over" the Strand House Hotel last weekend for our wedding on Saturday, and five days later, we are still buzzing! Having stayed with Mary and Hugh before, once we had decided earlier in the year to get married, there was really only one place that we wanted as a venue. The location, the house, the ambiance, the service, the attention to detail, everything about this hotel deserves praise. With 28 people, we were just about at the maximum to be accomodated and served with style and professionalism without being crowded. The planning and prior arrangements were made so much simpler by Mary whose "can do" attitude was amazing. Always what seemed like an instant response to emails, (we swear the lady doesn't sleep!), and literally, nothing was too much trouble. Over the whole weekend we were fed with the most tasty and varied selection of food, with a choice selected by our guests on arrival. We can honestly say that nothing was too much trouble, and with the ceremony actually taking place at the hotel, all we needed to do was to turn up! We were guided, instructed, collected, directed - everything to ensure that all went smoothly, which indeed it did. With many of our guests staying over on the Sunday as well, it was clear that they were very reluctant to leave on Monday! A fabulous, fabulous weekend, and our massive thanks to Mary, Hugh and their great staff. We look forward to seeing you on New Yer's Eve!!

Staying in Winchelsea we wanted a good meal within walking distance & opted for Strand House on the strength of the 2 good reviews as it sounded abit special. So glad we did!! Strand House is an amazing building, ridiculously old & the perfect place to cosy up. We were a little early so were welcomed into the lounge & the joys of the honesty bar whilst we waited. Mary's menu (with great vegetarian options) was seasonal, locally sourced and freshly cooked to order, and she is an exceptional cook!! Great combinations of flavours, perfectly cooked & presented. The service was also excellent & we really liked the intimacy of the venue & the personal service touches. Incredibly reasonable prices considering the quality of the food & the lovely venue. We will definitely eat at Strand House again!

We had a very cosy and delicious dinner at Strand House for Valentine's. We were staying in Rye and were looking for somewhere romantic for dinner. Highly recommended. Unsure of what the bedrooms are like but you will definitely eat well!

When Mary cooks at the Strand House, you are in for a culinary delight. Four of us dined with her this week and we had a wonderful meal. WE were not residents as we live locally. Scallops in a delicious brandy sauce, followed by a fillet of beef tender and cooked to perfection. Her Bailey's ice-cream dessert was superb. Charming service, lots of laughs and the warmest of welcomes by the hosts. Not to be missed.

Wonderful Sunday lunch, with great service and ambience. They even very kindly rustled up some final pieces of pork left from the day's roast to add to our delicious tartiflette. Thank you!

Disappointed with our visit. Was recommended by a friend. So decided to take my mum for her birthday. Afternoon tea was very nice. Cakes on stands looked very nice. Lovely crockery and the tea room was very pretty. On arrival thought it was very pleasant. Unfortunately the staff let it down. Didn’t feel very welcome. The two young ladies who served us were friendly and the other lady who brought out afternoon was nice. Unfortunately one member of staff was rather frosty. Had booked for 2 but had to take my toddler last minute and was made to feel this was an inconvenience as had to sit at a different table and told had to leave by certain time. Looks like a very nice place and food was good but service greatly let it down. Don’t think I would visit again due to this.
