The building itself was unbearably hot and I felt sorry for the staff working in those conditions. However, she was very friendly and efficient. Tables outside had lovely views but could have done with a wash-down. Coffee was good.

We ordered a flat white and a hot chocolate. I was surprised when they turned up in disposable cups. Not very green ! It is only a small place, surely they can wash up a few cups ! Both drinks were barely warm and I sent mine back to be heated up. It came back hot but I left it. It was obviously made with water and not milk. It was a watery, tasteless liquid, not the hot chocolate I was expecting.

Visited for coffee and cake early afternoon, Limited choice of either a muffin or carrot cake. Tea served in disposable cups with plastic lids. Disappointed that plastic spoons are in use, for RHS, I would have expected a more eco friendly approach. Surrounding area appears to be undergoing some transformation, the lavender beds need finishing, very dusty as lots of bare patches. Hopefully this will improve once planting is finished.

This Cafe opened about 3 Years ago and in a number of ways it checks all the boxes. It’s surrounded by beautiful surroundings including the Heather gardens. However, we had great expectations of the Cafe which, at face value, looks awesome. The fact it that it is or could be. The downer is that the pricing is off the charts plus doesn’t have any ordinary food, most mortals like especially the younger (under 10’s) generation. For example the Salads alone look like this: Oak smoked Jasmine Scottish salmon served with garden vegetables and herb salad £12.95 Torn spring chicken, cauliflower cous cous, roasted courgettes and sprouting broccoli salad £12.95 Heritage tomatoes, fine green beans and Sussex Slipcote salad £11.95 Allotment summer vegetables and carrot salad £11.95 So, the cheapest (for one) is nearly £12! We’re all for healthy eating and applaud this but a Menu with no real alternatives seems short sighted. We love Wisley and the area around the Cafe was sublime. But please cater for a wider psychographic and demographic!

Someone needs to learn some basic nutrition. What a lovely setting, but after trekking all the way out to this end of Wisley for lunch, we had the choice of 3 salads, but with no protein such as chicken, fish, veggie bean protein, or any carbohydrates. So literally just a plate of vegetables. Not my idea of a well balanced meal, and ridiculously expensive. The open sandwiches looked ok but at £8 each for one slice of bread and a slice of beef we passed. It equates to £16 for a full sandwich with nothing on the side. Someone needs to learn how to put together a main course containing protein, carbs and veg.

Cannot complain about the service. Excellent. The menu is pretty limited. The Cold poached salmon with peas, mint, basil and aioli was excellent too. But expensive. The Roasted Mediterranean vegetables and hummus was on nice bread but not really good value, and the humus was spread on one slice very thinly. We would not go back!

For the second time having walked the length of the garden they have run out of cream teas on a menu that comprises cream teas, three types of sandwich and two cakes. At 2.00 on a Saturday afternoon we thought we would be OK. Can’t comment on the food, we have never managed to get there in time to eat it. If you want to certain of getting a cream TEA I suggest you get there for lunchtime.

I wish I had read some of the reviews before we decided to choose to walk to this cafe for lunch. Menu is certainly very limited, but we chose a roasted veg and hummus open sandwich and a salmon and creme fraiche open sandwich. At £7.95 each, it was disappointing to see the meagre amount of hummus and creme fraiche smeared on one slice of bread, with a small amount of roasted veg and an ok amount of salmon. What was exceptionally disappointing was the second slice of completely bare bread placed underneath the first. Luckily we only wanted tap water to drink (I hadn't at this point looked at prices of drinks!) Staff were perfectly pleasant, and I had no problem with the price of the food, but there should have been more of it. The best part of the experience was walking to and from the cafe. Not recommended in comparison to the other places to eat at Wisley.

The Stone Pine Cafe offers table service provided by the Company of Cooks. It occupies the ground floor of the old Director's house that lies at the far northern end of Wisley. Customers may sit either in the lounge with soft furnishings or on the popular large patio that looks towards the Heather Landscape - currently under re-development. Guardians of small children would probably wish to choose one of the other cafes as Stone Pine and its menu will appeal more to those who want to eat and drink whist also enjoying the calm ambience of a friendly well run facility. We arrived at 10.30am for just coffee and a rock cake and greeted warmly by the manager who is keen to deliver the highest standard of food and service. So be prepared to pay a premium for the speciality high teas and light lunches. I can foresee at the busiest time of year it could be frustrating waiting for a table, especially after a longish walk. However, as a way to spend an hour this was a most enjoyable experience.

I've read a lot of reviews before deciding to write this one ! I visited Wisley for the first time this week - loved the gardens, truly exceptional. Wanting refreshment after a couple of hours exploring, I headed to the Cafe by the Glasshouse...... well, it was packed and noisy with children everywhere, and yes, I hate too admit it, but I don't have kids, so don't especially enjoy all that comes with other peoples ! So I abandoned any idea of eating here, and set off down the River Walk which led to the Stone Pine Cafe. Quiet, secluded and spaces to sit outside. Yes, prices were on the high side - but for me, to have somewhere quiet to sit was worth it. I ordered the open smoked salmon sandwich - delicious, plenty of salmon on good bread with lots of dill. Also had a pot of Earl Grey tea which gave me at least 4 decent cups of good tea. I wouldn't spend that sort of money everyday on lunch, but as a one off, it was very good and I enjoyed it.

This is the latest catering venture at the RHS Wisley Gardens, opened late last year. The ground floor of a house on the edge of the Gardens near the Bird Hide and the Pinetum has been converted into a small cafe, offering a limited range of open sandwiches and salads, or a cream tea. The quality is good, but the prices are quite high. There’s seating for 16 inside and 30 on the terrace outside. The staff were very friendly and the service was efficient. Pleasant enough experience, but noting special.

We just popped in here for a drink as we had been walking in the sculpture and Bird Hide area of the garden. It was a nice day so we sat outside and ordered a tea and a coffee. Both came to £8.50. (£4.25 each). The tea was fine and there was enough in the teapot for 3 cups! The serving staff were pleasant and polite. It was a nice area to sit and overlook but I do feel the prices are a little on the pricey side. There is enough room to expand the outside seating area and I would have thought by reviewing prices on the menu, it would attract more people ....and, who, would be more likely to return!

Reading other reviews I have to admit that I wouldn’t recognize the place. We very much enjoyed two excellent salads, one with smoked salmon and a lovely variety of garden vegetables, the other with heirloom tomatoes, green beans and “Sussex Slipcote,” a light feta-like cheese. Both were delicious. Either one alone would have been enough for two to share. Prices were perhaps a bit high, but not outrageously so given the very high quality of ingredients and preparation. Service was prompt and friendly, including quickly moving us indoors when it started to sprinkle. In fair weather the outdoor seating is very pleasant and will be more so as the lawn and garden landscaping of the area in front of the Stone Pine Cafe, including a new national heather collection, develops and matures. The indoor seating area is warm and inviting. We will look forward to returning upon future visits to RHS Wisley.

Yikes! Where to start? What a disappointing waste of money and inconvenience. With my parents and two young children we walked a long way to the cafe expecting it to have the better food and also that the table service would be easier with children. When we arrived we saw that the menu was small, which would have been ok, but more importantly it was very expensive with nothing suitable for my children who aren’t fussy eaters at all. They were not able to make anything else for them so they had the Mediterranean ‘open sandwich’, seeing as the alternatives of horseradish or dill creme fraiche was a stretch for them, but they could hardly get even the bread down.

I failed to heed the warning signs on three counts and kick myself for not walking out straight away. The café looks attractive and it is some distance from the alternatives. Having seated two grandchildren who were expecting food we felt it best to soldier on.

This little cafe in a house could be so much better! The website says that you can only book 72 hours ahead for lunch. Evidently this isn’t true, as when I asked about it, the Manager said I could have booked anytime. So, we settled on coffee and hopefully a scone. I asked the very young man who served us, for 2 decaf coffees. He didn’t know if they had it, he would ask. Then the Manager came out and said she had organised it. A small cafetière arrived ,which we thought was very small for 2. We couldn’t have a scone without the “cream tea” for £12.95, so opted to share a piece of cake. Then I saw that another table had 2 small Cafetières for 2 people. Eventually, I asked why we weren’t given 2? A feeble answer .... she thought we wanted to share one! There was enough coffee for half a cup each. The cake was fine. It’s quite expensive.

If you check my reviews you will see that I am not a serial complainer. We are long term members of the RHS and visit occasionally. Today we were on our way back from family in Liphook and had decided to call in and see the gardens. They were beautiful and the craft fair was lovely. Ticked a box and vaguely justified our ongoing membership. One the way out we were peckish ahead of the drive back to Brum and called into the Stone Pine Cafe, a magnet for those, like us who had to park in the furthest car park and have the longest walk.

We visited RHS Wisley after staying with family in the area. After walking through the gardens we fancied a snack and drink before leaving. We called into the cafe which offers sandwiches, salads, cakes hot and cold drinks and limited alcohol.

Had walked around the gardens to get to this point, had lunch en route, and wanted a cup of tea. Thought this looked attractive and chose a table outside, asked for a pot of tea for two without really looking at the menu to be honest. Was absolutely horrified and amazed to be charged the total of £8.50 for one pot of tea with two cups, which amounted to 1 1/2 cups of tea each. Must be the most expensive sit down for a cuppa we have ever encountered anywhere else in the UK or abroad on our travels. Even more annoying was to pass a small kiosk on the way back to the entrance, which sold teas at a much lower price, run by one of the waitresses from the very same Cafe. The management must be raking in at least 300% profit!

I can’t remember the last time I felt so outraged about such poor value for money. £27 for very poor quality coffee for four, with two of us having cakes (extortionate price -£7.95-for one of us having the ‘selection’ - three small/tiny portions).

Such a great concept - an intimate and peaceful little cafe where you can book a table away from the busy and noisy main Wisley food areas. The salads are excellent - large, packed with salmon / chicken respectively and full of interesting grains and seeds. They also came with complimentary crusty bread and butter, a carafe of tap water with ice / lemon and a selection of oils and vinegars. Service from the small and friendly team was excellent.

We came here to watch the rugby but left pretty quickly. Dirty toilets and rude bar staff, when asked why the beer is being served in plastic cups, we were told that only regulars get glass. One way to ensure that I don't become a regular I suppose

The food was absolutely horrible. Only just this side of edible to be honest but we were hungry and the place was packed so didn't want to raise a fuss

Very disappointing visit as used to be a lovely pub. No precautions in place for covid - no details being taken from visitors and just 1 small token bottle of hand sanitiser on the bar. Big groups of very young people (made me feel old in mid-30s!)with no attempt at social distancing. Toilets were dirty and smelly. Won't be going back!
