Walking through Chinatown and first noticed the amazing smell so decided to go in and ordered a tonkatsu donburi and a side of kimchi. Now eating it I'm not even mid way through and this is some of the best food Ive had. The kimchi is perfectly crunchy and has a pleasant spice and the donburi has soft sticky rice and crispy pork belly. Definitely recommend to anyone.

First things first, Stixs is now at St Andrew's St, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 5PE. On to the food. I've eaten here several times in the past few months and it's always good. Kimchi jigae is spicy and warming, tonkatsu broth with ramen has some excellent pork. Kimchi rice with bacon and fried egg is a great bowl of comfort. And it's all very reasonably priced. I hate to recommend as it'll encourage people to come here but by rights, people should be queuing out of the door for a table.

Fantastic food at reasonable prices. The service was friendly and quick. The only bad thing was the very loud music being played!

Fantastic little place to meet your ramen and Korean fried chicken cravings. Great food, served quickly in simple surroundings. Staff are really friendly, and encourage you to try new things, which I’m glad they did as it was delicious, and I wouldn’t have ordered them without the recommendation.

Stixs used to be at The Stack in town, and early last month it re-opened in St. Andrew's Street, a mere stone's throw from the Chinese Arch. We popped in one weekend lunch time and were shown to a table straight away, as it wasn't busy at all. Once sat down it immediately became apparent that they are using some of the worst seating known to man. It's as if they do not want you to stay long! The seats were deeply uncomfortable. In fact, a Spanish couple who arrived some time after we did, and were sat near us, also seemed to comment on this, as they both folded their jackets, placed them on the seats, and then sat on them. Anyway, our order was taken quickly, and between us we ordered the Galbi with Kimchi rice bowl, the Tonkotsu broth with belly pork, the chicken baos, and some Korean Hot Glazed chicken wings. The Tonkotsu ramen dish arrived quickly, but, as time went on it dawned on us that the rest of the food was going to take some time. In fact, it was a good 15 minutes before the rest of the food arrived. If we hadn't have started on the Tonkotsu then it would have gotten cold. Why they couldn't have cooked the Tonkotsu so that it came out later with the rest of the food I'll never know, but I suspect that it might have something to do with their deliveries. Every few minutes or so you could hear the food orders beep, and a food delivery dude appearing at the door every 10 minutes or so. I think they prioritise the deliveries over in real life customers. Now, the Tonkotsu was very nice but not as good as somewhere like Nori in Jesmond which I think has the best Tonkotsu in the NE. The pork was soft and had that melt in the mouth texture, the ramen was juuust on the right side of being al dente. When the rest of the food came, they too were found to be very nice. The baos were great and packed full of veg and a slab of fried chicken, with plenty of French Fries. The Galbi was frankly amazing, and the chicken wings hit the spot. The damage? Just under fifty with drinks, so about average for town these days. Oh, and staff were very friendly. Now, I want to go back, but the timing of the food coming out was not great, and the seating is awful. It is also dark in there. When I told a family member that I had dined there, the first thing they said was "How did you find the seats?" Not "How did you find the food?"

This is the best place for Korean and Japanese food in Newcastle hands down. I have recently stopped visiting other Asian fusion restaurants in Newcastle due to many of them increasing their prices, which are not reflective of the quality of the dishes they serve. Stixs offer incredible food for amazing prices. Their Tonkotsu ramen is full of umami and incredible value for money. I would also recommend the Tonkatsu donburi as well for the same reasons. I’ve been twice in the last week alone! Couldn’t recommend this place highly enough!! 🍜❤️

We visited Stix when it was a street food stall in Stack a year or so ago,and when we saw on social media that they had opened a restaurant on St. Andrew's street, just of Newgate street in Newcastle city centre we had to try them out again,we certainly weren't disappointed, the staff were lovely and warm, the food is fresh and tasty,we went for the chicken pieces with spicy sauce and the coating was crispy and very flavoursome This place needs championing as a local food hero, get yourself down here, you will love it

Personally find that it is not easy to get decent ramen in Newcastle. The tonkotsu ramen is here is really quite good. The broth is thick, flavourful and has enough depth. The ramen came with 2 large slice of pork belly that was made similar to the chashu that you normally find in ramen. I need to say that the pork belly are impressive, soft, tender and "melt" in your mouth. The watery centre egg is to the dot as well. Considering I had them on takeaway, hard to have any complains on the food quality. In terms of price, I feel it's on the slightly pricey end. Price is is attached in this review for those interested. I had the pork belly donburi as well. Slightly on the sweeter side but the rice and pork belly are up to standard. Last but not least are the Korean fried chicken. The only dish that I felt that didn't meet the typical baseline standard. While the chicken are still crispy, chicken breast strips are used and breaded, losing that authentic texture of cut pieces of chicken. I don't think what was served can be defined as a piece of chicken, at least by Korean standard for such dish. The spicy hot Korean sauce was also on the sweet side for it to be the authentic "spicy yangnyeom" flavour.

Really poor meat. Chicken was gray sinewy even for dark meat and the pork was slimy, rubbery and undercooked. Sauces were pleasant.

The fried chicken from here is the best I’ve had. So crispy and cooked perfectly! Both the soy and the spicy sauce are delicious. Also had the ramen a few times which is lovely.

Love 💓 the fried chicken sometimes I have to get 2 portions because I can’t pick which flavour to get I love the sticky Korean and the sweet soy it’s far to hard to choose between them. Iv tried replicating at home but it never works out as good as there’s iv been sent some other dishes by mistake no fault of stixs tho Deliveroo sent me other people’s dishes because I opened them they wouldn’t take them back but I tried them and got to say I’m not very keen on there pork poke bowls or there broths but 5*s for there chicken 😘😍🥰

Ordered a few meals today and the chicken was out of date and/or left in the back for ages! Salmon was off and smelt bad! called to complain about this and got no resolve. when told that the cooked meat has probably been left in the fridge for a while..there was no denying of this and they had no response when this was asked. There was no taste at all and soy sauce was poured over the chicken, probably to mask the smell! Nothing was fresh - not even the rice in the poke bowls! AVOID!!!

Amazing food! The best fried chicken I have had in a very long time. We ordered the salmon sushi burrito (new favourite), chicken teriyaki rice bowl, pork belly bowl and sides - all very nice too! Service was excellent by the owner who knows what he is doing. Quick service and the food was worth every penny. I would recommend anyone to go!

The food isn't bad by any means, but it's nothing special and it's pretty expensive. I ordered ramen and a can of pop for £15... The pork belly was very tasty but you don't get much, and honestly the broth and noodles were no nicer than the cheap ones I buy in tesco for like 80p and same goes for the serving size. It's just not worth it in my opinion.

The fried chicken here is the best I’ve ever had. There are a number of sauces and flavours available, the sticky Korean is my favourite but they are all amazing. The fame bowls are very good as well but honestly the chicken is phenomenal.

This is the first time I’ve been to Stack in general & after having a look around all the various food options on the upper level (bearing in mind it was a Friday & even though the weather was cold the sun was out so this place was pretty busy) I decided to go for the Korean option & order from Stixs.I went for the Teriyaki ‘Chicken’ Rice Bowl which was reasonably priced at £6.50. I didn’t have to wait too long & fortunately with this place they give you a device upon ordering which vibrates & flashes when your food is ready to collect – so if you want to wander off & wait at your table you can do – which is better than some of the other places where they yell out your order number. The food was a ample portion size (loads of rice) & there was quite a bit of soya sauce at the bottom of the bowl… however I was served duck & not chicken. Which explain why I thought the meat was a bit tough & upon further examination I noticed the skin underneath the Teriyaki sauce was different as well. However – barr this ingredient variation – the food was nice & I wouldn’t mind going back to try something else from the menu.My friend also got the same dish as me but he went for the Teriyaki Belly Pork Rice Bowl & according to him the rice was nice but unfortunately the dish tasted ‘a bit greasy’ overall (which might have been due to the fact he got pork & not another type of meat variant).

We recently visited Bangrak Thai for a company meal with 17 people. The experience was fantastic from start to finish. We were seated upstairs in a large, comfortable room that provided a perfect setting for a group gathering. Instead of opting for a set meal, we ordered from the menu, which allowed us to enjoy a variety of dishes. Every plate looked amazing, and the quality was consistent across the board. I personally had the tom yum with prawns, and the chilli beef—both were excellent, bursting with authentic Thai flavours and perfectly cooked. The environment was warm and welcoming, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and efficient, ensuring the meal ran smoothly despite the size of our group. Highly recommended for both large groups and smaller outings. A wonderful spot for delicious Thai food and great hospitality.

Been here for over 10 years now and very fond of this place. Never disappoints. Reasonably priced, friendly staff and extremely delicious, soft baked goods. They offer a variety of personalised birthday cakes and me and my family have been getting them every year from Breadpoint without hesitation, as the western cakes have always been too sweet for our tastebuds. Soft, light, fluffy and not overly sweetened, the birthday fruit cake (cream with almond slices on the sides) is their signature staple and 100% worth trying. I love their matcha roll, vanilla roll, egg tarts, custard pineapple bun and char siu buns. I've also been to a London bakery in Chinatown recently and the quality is on par with each other. I hope one day they can offer a slice of pandan cake too.
