My daughter organised afternoon tea to be delivered to my home for my birthday as a surprise. Stepney Hill weren't really doing deliveries at this time but still agreed to do it as my daughter lives in Liverpool and wasn't able to see me on my birthday. The tea was lovely and the staff went above and beyond to do this for us. Thank you Stepney Hill X

What a shame we have such a lovely location for a tea room on our doorstep and it let us down again! Nobody noticed us arrive then there was a debate in the kitchen about if we had just arrived or not. Then a girl came out with a scruffy piece of paper which turned out to be the menu. Why can’t there be a decent menu on the table so we can peruse it on arrival? The tables were sticky and hadn’t been wiped. The couple near us complained they had been waiting 40 minutes for their breakfast, so this didn’t fill us with confidence and we ordered a simple sandwich and tea cake. The young lady brought our order out but forgot a knife to butter the tea cake, so off she went for that. Then she asked if we wanted sauce and we asked for salt and pepper, so off she went again and returned with ONE sachet of each. After all this backwards and forwards she forgot serviettes so I ended up with bacon on my hands and nowhere to wipe it. This young lady really did make hard work for herself and almost wore a path In the floor. Sorry to say I think these basic things were down to the inexperienced young people working in the kitchen, whilst the lady clearly in charge was doing her best to keep things going, they let her down. No interest in the service side of things. Why not have salt and pepper, serviette and cutlery already on the table? Covid regulations are pretty much gone everywhere now and nobody cares anymore. This place has huge potential to be a great tea room with breathtaking views in a prime location, unfortunately we won’t be returning now and will have our meet ups at Betton farm.

We had an enjoyable lunch here yesterday. We have passed the tea rooms on the way to Scarborough many times and today decided to stop for lunch. The food was good and served quickly. The tea rooms were clean and tidy but some of the seating looks like it needs replacing. Prices average. Definitely recommend and would love to return.

Came here for breakfast to give it a second chance after a not thrilling first visit a few years back. Hubby and I are locals so like to support local businesses. We pre-booked but need not have worried as only one other table occupied. We waited ages for our breakfasts which were unremarkable. Tables were quite close together and I faced the wall the whole time, wasnt amused!! Enjotyed the peace and quiet until staff (and owner?) came in for their break. I am not squeemish (being an ex nhs worker and also owning animals) but I dont appreciate listening to talk of worms in sheep while I'm eating. Also area was not covid safe, tables not far enough apart, waitress too close. We actually ordered our christmas meat whilst there - wish we hadnt. The price was way over the top and meat no better than a supermarkets. We wont be back.

Arrived for a nice lunch and to take full advantage of the eat out to help out. On arrival we were told no dogs were allowed inside the tea rooms so we had to sit outside which was a beautiful view. On leaving there was dogs in the tea room which was frustrating. Service was very poor the young girls didnt inform us of the till service, we waited over 40 minutes for sandwiches and a brekfast the drinks took a while to come out aswell. The quality of food I was not impressed. Hair found on milk shake and hair or some form of string from chicken was found in the baguette. This was taken off the bill and cant complain at the price due to being half price However under normal circumstances I would have not paid the full price. Extremely disappointing and doubtful we will return in a hurry.

Visited the tea rooms on 12th August with a friend. We were served by an efficient waitress, and our afternnoon tea arrived after a short while. It alll looked beautifully presented .My cheese and onion sandwiches were delicious,as was the generous slice of Victoria sponge.I have had scones at several places,I have to say these were the very best ever, served with small pot of jam and cream. The pot of tea was a decent size too unlike other places. To this end,Stepney Hill Farm is in a beautiful location overlooking a stunning view,it is spotless ,welcoming and well run. They also have a seperate butchers which sells top quality meat and vegetables.

Fantastic afternoon tea for 3 organised by family in Manchester and delivered to us in Seamer by Stepney Hill Farm. Superb selection of fresh sandwiches with fresh salad and crisps. 3 different large pieces of very light and fresh cake. The final piece in the jigsaw were 3 large, light and still warm fruit scones with jam and clotted cream! Superb - well done Stepney Hill and the Tyson’s and thank you!

My friend and I visited Stepney Hill Farm for a pre-birthday lunch. It was a fine, sunny day and the views from the restaurant were absolutely stunning. You can even see the sea!!! It was fun watching the sheep climbing through the fence and "mowing" the lawn outside the window - very amusing. The decor is lovely. The friendly staff are efficient and polite. I ordered a toasted sandwich, which was lovely, and my friend enjoyed a chicken baquette. Lovely presentation. My friend secretly requested a piece of cake for me with a candle in. Delicious and beautifully presented. Would highly recommend a visit.

My mum and I visited this cafe earlier in the week for lunch. The setting is lovely, with fantastic views. The menu is very extensive, with a huge choice of hot meals, light bites, sandwiches, baguettes, paninis and cakes. We both had a hot baguette. Portions were big and the food quality excellent. The service was also quick and efficient and we thought the meal was good value for money. We will be back again sometime I'm sure.

Lovely setting, unfortunately weather was dismal so couldn’t see the landscape. Staff friendly. Had afternoon tea, it was nice but would have been much better if the sandwiches hadn’t been three little fingers of bread with very little filling, had prawn and one had only two prawns inside, crisps were obviously the end of the packet, saying that the coleslaw was lovely and creamy, the scones were good and the cake was delicious, would have rather paid a little more for proper sandwiches with more than one choice of fillings, like a variety.

Visited the tearoom as I had heard good reviews, and enjoyed a wedding in the barn. Lunch for 4. A very long wait for a pot of very weak tea, followed by a longer wait for food. One meal was the wrong one of 2 similar options. Sandwich came in mouldy bread, which was returned (and replaced, despite a clear instruction to not bother with a replacement). The table and cruet sets and cutlery were grubby and in need of a good wipe down. The background music let down the atmosphere, but was also not loud enough to mask the staff conversation in the kitchen - customers can hear what is being said about them! Thankfully not charged for the unwanted sandwich, but did have to query the charge for a portion of chips which never arrived. Very disappointed.

We have been to the tea rooms here many times and the food has always been spot on, but today we were left pretty annoyed and disappointed. Thought I’d treat my mum to a Mother’s day afternoon tea as I’ve seen people get it from here before and it looked lovely! I knew it would be busy with mother’s Day but the way that laid the tables out didn’t work! I had people pushing past my chair constantly through our afternoon tea, the afternoon tea itself was a stale, sad looking sandwich, a scone (which wasn’t fresh) and shop bought cake.. again my fathers cake was also not fresh. The staff were rude, I’ve been several times and thought the blonde lady (who is always there) very rude, there was 40 people in the tea rooms today then staff on top. The tea rooms are far too small for this amount of people. Was left really disappointed, expected a lot more from here, but I think they tried to take on too many people at once and in the end it was too much for them - won’t be coming back again.

A midweek late lunch call. Everything was fine but nothing special. It was above mediocre but nothing really warmed me to it. Staff were pleasant and attentive. Toilets were basic but clean and fresh. Tables and chairs again basic. Called at the adjacent butchers on the way out and found their pork pies (which I ate later) quite good with a thin, crisp pastry and lovely tasting pork meat with the right amount of jelly. The restaurant is fine if you’re passing by but not the sort to make a special journey for.

My friend and I called in around 10.30 am for a drink. Had a table by the window with lovely views. Ordered two coffee's, a cheese scone and teacake. The waitress was very pleasant, explaining she wasn't very good at cappuccinos, which we sent back, black coffee's instead that's fine. The cups were chipped and handles cracked, we don't mind. The teacake OK, cheese scone with icing sugar sprinkled over fork and spoon to give decoration on a wooden board looked good, unfortunately my friend couldn't eat it as it fell into a pile of crumbs and was so dry. I did tell the waitress, and didn't pay for the scone. The ladies wc had one damp towel to dry your hands on. It wasn't the best experience, sorry!

Came here for lunch with a friend (11/08/2018) and was utterly disappointed, despite there only being 2 other tables in, our order of steak ciabatta and kofta took around 40 minutes to come, not that much of a problem as neither of us were in a rush, when it did turn up my friend was told the fryer was broken and the chips to go with her meal would be out shortly, which they were not and by the time they arrived, everything else had been eaten, this and the fact my friend had to ask for mayo 3 times, eventually getting a portion of around half a teaspoon is not great. The food itself was good and enjoyed by both of us. After mains were finished my friend ordered a coffee while we decided on sweets, no sugar was brought so she went up to the counter to ask for some, after standing at the counter and being passed by the lady working there, she eventually went behind the counter herself to get some. Nobody at any point asked if we wanted any desserts so I went to the counter to order a piece of cake for my friend and an apple crumble and custard for myself, I was told that the apple crumble was now rhubarb crumble, which was fine, a few minutes later the lady who took the order came to our table to let me know there was no custard either, so my apple crumble and custard had turned into rhubarb crumble and cream... fine... except when it came it was hot on the outside and freezing cold on the inside.

After waiting over 30 minutes for or meals to arrive mine was given to another customer I then had to wait another 30 minutes for another meal to be prepared. The diet coke the children had was priced at £2 each but had 69p displayed on the can, I know they need to make a profit but be discreet. I would have understood had it been busy but it wasn't and all the apologises we got were mumbled by 2 young girls who were clearly untrained and unsupervised although there were adults in the kitchen not once did they come out to sort the mix up out. A lady and her son were still waiting for 2 sandwich and chips when we left they had been waiting well over an hour. We won't visit there again and I doubt the others there will either

On another visit we ordered afternoon tea after waiting 40 mins we were told they had no scones but we could have a teacake or crumpet with no discount applied. The restaurant was busy and , luckily, we had booked. We had to wait for our friends as we were early and Tiffany asked us if we wanted a drink whilst we waited. She was extremely busy serving teas and meals but had everything under control. When our table was assembled Tiffany quickly took our order and the meals arrived together and were very hot and clearly freshly prepared. We all enjoyed our choices and were left to eat except for Tiffany checking that we were happy with our food. She also quickly cleared the plates when we had finished. We enjoyed our get together and chat at the table. The room was warm and pleasant and every table was occupied. We had a very pleasant lunch and the choices available are quite sufficient to cater for most people's tastes including a vegetarian option. Tiffany was a credit to customer service as she engaged with us and other customers and was on the go non stop for the time we were there. All credit to her as a restaurant is only as good as its food AND front of house serving staff. A pleasant greeting with a genuine smile goes a long way!

I visited a couple of days ago with a friend and as the sun was shining for once we decided to sit outside - unfortunately the tables on the terrace had been cleared away but the lovely waitress unlocked the door especially for us and took our drinks and food all the way out to the table in the 'gazebo', even though it took her two trips. My scone when it arrived was beautifully presented on a board with a decorative dusting of icing sugar and it tasted even better with a lovely crunchy top. The view is spectacular outside! The 'specials' menu inside looked lovely and I'd definitely like to return for lunch.

We had our wedding in the barn at Stepney Hill Farm and it was the best decision we made throughout the entire wedding process. We are from South Yorkshire and we wouldn't have made our guests drive over 2 hours unless the venue was worth it - it totally was!We had the entire wedding in the barn (including the ceremony) and only 60 people for the entire day and night. So although the barn is big, it's also very adaptable.Food - we had a 3-course meal but wanted it to be informal so we went for sharing boards for the starter, beef carved by our guests for main and a choice of desserts. The food was amazing and received so many compliments on how plentiful and delicious it was. The team - one of the reasons why our wedding was so relaxed to organise was because Kaitlyn and the team at Stepney Hill had the best attitude ever, it was very refreshing to meet people that had a can-do attitude without costing a fortune. Kaitlyn was so accommodating and let us create a wedding that suited our personality perfectly. Although the team were very relaxed, they were also very professional and genuinely wanted us to have the best day. They worked very hard behind the scenes on the day to make sure that we didn't even notice things being moved or set up. They had no noise level restrictions, the last song was 12.15 so didn't finish too early!, bar prices were very reasonable, allowed us the barn for the full weekend & very responsive to new/different ideas. We could go on writing lovely things about Stepney Hill Farm as they created the perfect day for us - and we are very particular/picky couple :-) Other people we really recommend: R&O Sound & Lighting, New York Brass Band, Hearts & Flowers, Binnington Blooms, WOW weddings for the drapes.

We have just held my daughters wedding at Stepney Hill on Easter Monday and what a fantastic occasion it was. I must admit to feeling slightly sceptical when she told me she was marrying in a barn! I could not have been more wrong. The staff at stepney were all so professional and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. With the help of Wow Weddings and my daughters creative ideas and flower arranging skills the barn was transformed into a unique and magical setting which suited the happy couple perfectly. The 3 course meal was just fantastic! Top quality roast sirloin of beef roasted on site and individual joints carved at each table by friends and family who donned chefs hats and aprons! The DJ and disco had everyone up dancing. Also a fantastic surprise when the New York jazz band appeared playing for the first dance and then entertaining us with live music - They were brilliant. Clearing away the next day was easy and trouble free. If you are planning a wedding or any type of event here you really cannot go wrong. The beautiful country side and the sunshine topped off a perfect day. Thank you to everyone involved at Stepney Hill you really helped to make Sarah and Lee's wedding day one they will Never Forget!

Arrived at 3:20 to be greeted by waitress saying "kitchens are closed". I asked if we were ok to just have hot drinks. Waitress responded "Do you know what you want?" - we hadn't even sat down at that point. The waitress looked dirty, her top and skirt were covered in food and crumbs. Sat at a table which was also covered in crumbs, as were the chairs. Waited 10-15 mins for waitress to return to take order. Drinks and cake were served in adequate time, were well presented and very nice (the only positive of the visit I'm sorry to say). The purpose of our visit was to have a look at the place with a view to booking a birthday party. At 4:23 a lady (possibly the chef/cook) came through and quite aggressively said "we closed an hour ago". We asked what time they closed and were told 4:30. My Mum said well it's not 4:30 yet, to which the woman replied, "well you have six minutes then". We were extremely shocked by the aggressive nature and got ready to leave. At this point the waitress came through to take our money. I said that the closing times were not clear, and she said that lots of people had said the same. I suggested that the opening times sign on the actual door to the tea rooms could be filled to make it clearer. She responded very bluntly and said she would pass that on to the manager. All in all, I have to say the staff we encountered were extremely rude. We will not be holding our function there, nor will either of us be returning to the tea rooms.

My daughter's meal, well her lamb was mostly just fat. On the plus side, the vegetables were nice. When my husband went to pay the bill, he was asked if everything was satisfactory, when he said no it wasnt and proceeded to tell the young girl why, she just said 'oh'. Needless to say we will not be returning.

We pre ordered for the Sunday lunch. My family all had roast chicken served with yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, mash, and lots of dishes of different vegetables and gravy. I had a gluten free vegetarian main (stuffed red pepper with savoury rice filling, gluten free vege gravy and vegetables, potatoes . Then for desert I was pleased to find that they also had a choice of gluten free deserts. I had apple pie and cream.Other family members had coffee and walnut cake, vanilla cheesecake and peach cobbler. All of them were delicious and homemade. Large portion size. I would highly recommend going . In the summer it would be a nice to sit outside the views are stunning.

Boxing Day 2016. We had been up from Devon visiting family and had decided to take a drive down to the Scarborough sea front. It was a cold and windy day, so we were reluctant to step out into the weather as my son, who is 6, has a congenital heart disorder and is prone to infections and is sensitive to the elements. Because of his condition, he is on diuretics which assists his heart in its workings, but also makes him prone to peeing quite a lot. While driving along the seafront, we didn't stop anywhere as it was quite busy, and eventually decided to head away from the crowds to find a place to have a cup of tea and possibly a piece of cake for the kids - we also had a 5 year old and a 2 year old in the car. On our way up the hill, we were promptly told by our son that he needed to pee, and that it was urgent. He can get quite anxious about this due to the underlying genetic disorder he suffers from. We kept him calm and told him we'd find a place to stop if he could hold it for a few minutes. He continued to remind us of the urgency around each bend as we looked for a restaurant, tea room or pub to stop at. We saw a place on the right saying tea rooms and we quickly turned in thinking we'd been saved. Little did we know that we would regret this last minute decision very quickly. We drove into the small car park of Stepney Hill Farm which allowed us a view of the front of the tea rooms. There was a sign saying 'closed' but we got my son out anyway, hoping that they would let us use their toilet. We were wrong. My wife quickly got him over to the other side of the car park, behind a shed where he had the wee he so desperately needed, on a small patch of grass. There was nobody else around. The next few moments happened without warning. A woman with long dark hair came storming out of the front door of the tea rooms and launched into an aggressive tirade of abuse at my wife. Her vitriolic outburst seemed out of place considering what was happening, but as much as my wife tried to explain to the woman(who we now assumed to be the owner) that we were desperate due our son's special needs, she was not having any of it. She repeatedly called my wife 'a stupid woman' - over and over and over again. All 3 of my children promptly burst into tears, fearful that their mum was going to be attacked as this woman got closer and closer to us. She stopped within inches of my wife, still calling her a stupid woman. My wife, in a desperate attempt to defend herself, told the woman that our son had special needs, and that we would have potentially been customers, to which she loudly and defiantly replied: "I don't care about your son, you shouldn't have come here!"We bundled everyone back in the car, somewhat fearful for our safety and quickly left the premises. I urge anyone with the slightest bit of compassion and integrity to avoid this place at all costs. This woman is a hateful person with clearly no ounce of caring or consideration for others. They way she treated us is emblematic of what she puts into her business and customer service, which is worrying for the public in general.

We came to Stepney Hill Farm for lunch while staying in Scarborough. It is quite a small place but the views at the back are beautiful. Service was ok, it wasn't busy but we had to wait a short amount of time for our order to be taken and the waitress was not particularly welcoming. We ordered the poached eggs, an award winning sausage sandwich and children's ham sandwich. The reason why I want to give it a 5 is because the food was so tasty and the bread fresh and homemade is was delicious, however the drinks were not as hot as i would like and the lukewarm service did let the place down slightly.

We came here one morning for breakfast. There was another 2 tables with people on so not very busy. We were lucky to get a window seat to look at the beautiful view. The waitress that was very inappropriately dressed came over after a few mins to take our order. A uniform for all staff would look so much better. She came across as tho it was far too much trouble. I ordered a chicken BBQ baguette and the other 2 in our group both had full breakfasts. When the food arrived we were missing a sausage from one of the breakfasts, this was replaced quickly however. The BBQ baguette had no BBQ sauce on it and the coffee was so hot I had to wait until the end to drink it and when I did it was very weak. Both breakfasts were very nice and a good size for the money. Upon paying the person at the till had no idea what we had ordered so we had to list everything in order to pay. The toilets had no towel to dry your hands and the soap was empty, being so early you would think they would be full to start with. I wouldn't go back here unless things changed quite dramatically.

We called in on our way home. We sat by one of the Windows which has a lovely view over their farm and the crematorium. We weren't after a full meal so once we had looked at the menu we decided to both have cream scones. One we asked for with strawberry jam. When they arrived it was a diy job. Cut your own scone apply the rather poorly whipped cream and a pot of jam. All served up on a plank of wood with some jam drizzled on it. Well I tried to carefully cut my scone and due to it being left out to dry for a while, it turned into a big mass of chunky crumbs instantly. My wife who made a point of asking for strawberry jam was given blackcurrent instead. As unimpressed as we were we didn't complain. Even when I got the bill which should have been £8.40 in total and was charged £10.20?Won't be going back in a hurry. It does have a lovely view but don't bother with the scones and definitely keep a close eye on what they charge you!

Bit of a gem. Situated in corner of car park for butchers and bakers, it looks like you are intruding on a farmers courtyard but don't be deceived you definitely welcome inside. The entrance is not directly into the cafe (it's much more than an road sign saying Tearooms) but keep going to where you see one of the tables, once in the room look to your right and an enormous black board is filled with the menu which changes regularity. The food is freshly cooked and uses the meat from the butchers. It all says home made and I don't doubt it for a minute. If the weather is nice, although they are only picnic tables, the view down the valley is worth sitting a little uncomfortably. The other plus side to sitting outdoors is you don't get the smoke and smells from the kitchen which can unfortunately permeate into seating area. The good and view are worth a stop. Maybe like me, you will become a frequent flyer .

Yesterday myself, my daughter and granddaughter visited the tea rooms and had a scone with BUTTER, supposedly. But the butter was margerine, and not a good quality one, the waitress was non apologetic and said it was butter. Then another lady came and said they dont buy margerine, so what do they bake with!!!! Now I can tell the difference, it was dark orange and greasy, and tasted awful. If it was supposed to be butter then it was rancid. So warning, dont have buttered scones. To add insult to injury the other lady said it was definitely butter and walked away, giving me no chance toreply. Now I had my birthday celebrations at xmas and my granddaughters birthday party in May, but never to go back again . By the way the scones were beautiful, even without butter/margerine.

I attended one of the Xmas party nights held at Stepney Hill Farm this weekend and was very disappointed with all aspects. Apart from one xmas tree in a corner there were no other decorations, the tables were bare no crackers etc. The price was £17 and for this you got a pork or turkey sandwich with stuffing and two roast potatoes served on a paper plate! The sweet was a paper bag which you could fill with penny sweets! Unless you stood next to the fire the venue was very cold (dancefloor and toilets especially). By the end of the night you smell so badly from the smoke from the fire and you are covered in a layer of ash. I had worn a dress but every item of clothing needed to be washed (don't wear anything decent). Finally the disco was not brilliant. A very expensive and disappointing night.

Went to Scarborough this weekend for my wife's birthday, stopped in Travelodge but decided not to have their breakfast and go for something of better quality so we chose to drive out to Stepney Hill. I opted for the large breakfast at £7.95 my wife had the regular at £5.95 and my 5 year old boy had boiled egg and soldiers at £2.50. The views are beautiful but I have to say that I felt the breakfast did not represent good value for money. The large is more like a regular and the regular more of a small, my little boys boiled egg came hard boiled so he could not dip his soldiers in which they did change and apologise for. The food was of a good standard but I felt that at just over £20 inc drinks we had not really had a wholesome breakfast and so sadly will not be returning.

Bought my Mum here for dinner with the family. I wasn't really sure at first as quite a few people criticised the service here and said the food was average, but was finally persuaded by my Mum who said that all her friends said it was a friendly place and the food was well worth it. With that said, we all called, booked a table and then trooped up to the restaurant. When you first arrive you get to see the view down the valley, which is very impressive on a good day, and the kids run off in to the small play area set aside for them (after checking out the animals in the sheds around). When we went in to the restaurant we were greeted by the daughter of the owners and seated at a large clean table and the drinks orders were taken (don't be expecting a large wine list here, the focus is on the fresh produce you're about to eat), menus handed out and then the drinks delivered. The food here is of an excellent quality, there's no need for fancy presentation, etc. as the quality of the food speaks for itself (although it is well presented on plates that make you feel like you're having Sunday dinner at home!). It's an eating place that feels comfortable. The service is good to, friendly, chatty, efficient, but not interfering or interrupting. One tiny tiny complaint, the house red wine is fine and all, but with a meet that good then there should be some good wines too (St. Emillion, Paulliac, Graves). They're not that expensive nowadays, but would perfectly go with the meat.

These tea rooms are situated on Stepney Road on the right hand side as you are leaving Scarborough. You will need a car though, as this is a very steep hill, which only the fittest pedestrian would attempt. As the tea rooms sit on top a hill, you are rewarded with spectacular views, quite possibly the best views in town.Be careful driving in to the tea rooms, as the private road is in need of resurfacing, and there are pot holes full of water! The cakes, scones and sandwiches are huge, too big for me, I’m afraid. Everything we had though was very fresh and tasty. The wooden seats are very uncomfortable, and do not encourage you to linger for too long.Opening Times are; Monday to Sunday 10.00am – 4.00pm.All food is home produced and the tea rooms serve a daily selection of:Sandwiches – Baguettes- Paninis – Jacket Potatoes – Afternoon Teas Cakes and Biscuits. Full English breakfast is served all day.

We went 'on speck' without checking on Tripadvisor, and were very impressed with the fantastic view and cleanliness of the tea room. We ordered a regular breakfast and a baguette which took quite a long time to come, but were well presented and delicious when they finally arrived (there was no one else waiting to be served at the time). My husband usually has a larger piece of bacon when he has a breakfast out, and there could have been more filing in the baguette, but they were sufficient and tasty. The toilet was super clean, and after having watched the powerpoint presentation several times whilst awaiting our order, we went to the butcher's and bought a meat pack for £15. We have only eaten the rump steak so far (you get two 4oz steaks), and it was absolutely top notch. The butcher was flexible, and substituted extra sausages because we are not burger eaters! If the rest of the meat pack is as good as the beef, we shall be more than happy.

We had our wedding evening party at Stepney in the barn last year and Ashley and Nicola couldn't have been more helpful. It was perfect, they did everything they could to accommodate what we requested. The barn is a great venue, really flexible. Since the wedding we've been a lot for breakfast (fantastic) and dinner (themed nights are ace). The food gets better and better. Recently we had a surprise birthday breakfast for my Dad's 75th and again, it was brilliant. We made some last minute changes to the guest list and nothing was a problem for them. All the food was served at the same time, all cooked to perfection. We now don't buy meat or eggs anywhere else, the butchers is brilliant, always service with a smile from everyone. I wrote a review a while ago that was less than complimentary and am so pleased to say that this visit was perfect!A friend and I went today for afternoon tea, as our usual place was closed. We were apprehensive as our last visit was disappointing but I was adamant we should give it another go. The afternoon teas were FABULOUS! We both ordered cheese and onion chutney sandwiches and they were lovely, great sweet chutney and the bread was soft and tasty. The coleslaw was homemade and delicious and the chips (added extra) were huge, chunky, homemade and beautiful!! Our scones were so fresh, they were still warm and were complemented by fresh whipped cream and a little jar of jam. We were too full to enjoy our slices of cake but they looked fabulous and we were able to take them home. Food was ok. Price was a little steep. Service was nothing to write home about. BUT what was really annoying, after paying by card and leaving, was being chased down on a busy pavement by a member of staff saying the payment didn't go through - tried again and again, then another card and the another card with the staff member carrying the payment machine saying all declined when none of them should have failed ! Because golden grid has been established for such a long time you'd have thought they would have sorted this problem out but apparently not ! it's not like it would cost them much to get better devices with better reception but no they can't be bothered. SO be prepared to be chased down and embarrassed.

We had a lovely lunch with family today, enjoying the view from above and the sunshine. However, when my food was being served, the sizzling from the oil in it landed on my husband's coat. When we asked for the bill, I explained the situation to the lady, who by the way was the person who served us the food, and she barely apologized. I would expect a better handling of the situation...
