I've been coming here for about 10 years only ocationally but it never disappoints the cake especially the carrot cake with cream frosting is the most delicious cake seriously every mouthful is a literal pleasure the place it's self is so cosy with log burner and comfy sofa the people are so friendly and welcoming. I also recommend there restaurant in Honiton the yellow deli again here high quality and great service. Thank you from Rebekah, Michael and Fred

Well off the beaten track and not especially well signposted but it is well worth seeking out. The menu is very limited to one sandwich offering, which is really excellent, and a few cake options, that were good but a little on the stodgy side. A good range of teas and a very tasty apple juice rounded things off nicely. And you pay, whatever you think it is worth.

Take a moment to relax. This is not a typical tea room but a place where you are "hosted". Great tea and a toasted sandwich.

I feel the word ‘sect’ is rather strong and can give the wrong impression! I have visited Yellow Deli, Honiton High st, I found staff to be very friendly and efficient! No pushing of beliefs!! People need to be careful of unfairly labelling those who perhaps choose a life simply different from most!!

Had a very pleasant cup of tea and muffin at this establishment. It’s owned by a religious cult called the ‘Twelve Tribes’. Nice people on the surface, but when probed on subjects such as homosexuality I’m afraid all the reports I have heard about this religious cult, proved to be true. They are virulently homophobic. All decent fair minded people should avoid this establishment at all costs. Honiton is a marvellous small Devon town where everyone is welcome and treated with respect. The ‘Twelve Tribes’ have no place in our town.

Food is okay, but they bombarded me with religious stuff that was absolutely not acceptable in a restaurant setting. Nor is it right to push their life style on people who are trying to just eat a meal.

1st time visit. Rosina was very helpful and friendly. Warm log fire, excellent food and coffee. Will be back asap. Worth travelling from Exeter for this experience. A summer visit to take in the country views is an absolute must.

I used to live there. There tea room is a way to recruit vulnerable people. They use kindness to draw people into their lifestyle. Once you become a member there are harsh rules and berating methodology to make you feel guilty for your “sins”.The use of child discipline is beating the children with thin rods on the hands legs and bottom. Do not be fooled by the good food, drinks and craftsmanship of their business. It’s all a lie. I would never recommend this place for any reasons

I plan events for a Honiton charity and we arranged for a tea & cake afternoon to take place at Stentwood Farm. As always they did not let us down. The service and quality of the cakes was outstanding, nothing was too much trouble and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the event. The setting is lovely and the people serving were friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this venue not only for a group outing but also to pop in for tea and cake or their amazing steamed sandwich. You only pay what you think the meal is worth!

Lovely little gem hidden away, a limited menu but you only really need their steamed beef sandwich anyway - delicious. Cakes are yum and tea served in quaint teapots and old fashioned cups. Friendly staff - Naomi was lovely and remembered us from last time. Looking forward to going back.

I have never come across a place like this in the UK, a community run cafe / bakery doing things their own way. The result is a really great little place that not only offers good cakes and the most amazing steamed sandwiches, but has a proper friendly and cozy environment. This is the antithesis of trendy new hipster joints catering to the whims of fashion; no vegan fad driving this place, or overpriced coffee that has been brewed in a kids chemistry set, just a focus on doing everything well. The reviews speak for themselves and reflect the comments from other guests there at the same time as me. Even the donation payment idea is quite different to just about every other cafe, and shows the attitude and confidence of the people running this great place.

After saying we would visit for lunch for a very long time we eventually did!!!! and not disappointed. My husband and I both had a pot of tea with our salted beef steamed sandwich. We also had a piece of carrot and dairy cake, yum yum. It was delicious and have recommended Stentwood to a lot of friends especially the steamed sandwich. The other option was soup for lunch. My only very slight comment is that perhaps a pannini or welsh rarebit or ??? added to the lunch menu. We will be going back again sooner rather than later!!

The wife and I went into day after passing by a number of times. We have had their cookies a few times as my wife does occasionally delivered there for her work. We only had tea ☕and carrot cake as it was mid afternoon, best carrot cake we've had in a while and the tea was just perfect. Others their were waiting for sandwiches which were very nicely presented and looked wonderful, perhaps next visit. Very impressed their "what it's worth " policy for the tea room, along with the visitors book for comments. Lovely and quite location hopefully we will be able to sit outside to enjoy the surrounding area.

I can’t believe that I used to live locally and had never come across this bakery and tearoom. Everyone was so welcoming, the log burner was roaring away, it was really pleasant and relaxing. I had a huge slice of apple cake with cream, which went down a treat, even if it took me an hour to work my way through it! Having read rave reviews of the carob brownies we took one away to try and suffice to say went back to take some home with us. Note opening times are Sunday to Friday (10:00 - 17:00) and there’s no freshly baked food from April 1st to 7th, but you can still go and relax with a drink and maybe get to sample a brownie if there are any left during this time! Go seek it out if you’re in the area.

Such a lovely warm welcome, beautiful environment. freshly prepared food, attention to detail.....and the end result was absolutely delicious! We got five sandwiches for the gang at the office... everyone LOVED them... and all agreed it deserved the fice star rating.... (there were also a few envious looks from the staff who brought their own lunch....) I would highly, highly recommend... and cant wait for my next visit :) Thank you x

We went to the tea room to have lunch. We were greeted very friendly, but a bit overwhelmingly ( personal introduction, staff sitting down at table etc). Apparently it's the British headquarter of the Christian sect the 12 tribes, which is good to know before you go there, I believe. That having said, we had a very interesting time and challenging conversation. The drinks were good, the food decent. They did not want money for it and gave us stuff for free, which made us uncomfortable, but still, it was nice. All in all an experience we won't forget!

I learnt about Stentwood farm when I gave two of the members of the community a lift near Wimborne. A few weeks later while travelling to Cornwall on a family holiday, I decided to take my children to visit the farm and buy bread, the welcome I received was, gentle, friendly, caring, interested in us, happy and relaxed. After purchasing the bread we decided to have a cup of tea and a steamed sandwich. The bread and food was excellent, we also bought biscuits and superb fruit bread, some how i must get the recipe! I have promised to return because I want my wife to enjoy the experience and it really is a lovely warm friendly place. I feel I have made friends with the people at Stentwood, it is unique in the best and nicest way. If you are passing nearby please visit, or make a special trip as long as you leave some fruit bread for me.

This is a real gem....so worth a visit; the location is charming, the food is fabulous, the people are welcoming and genuine. They bake their own bread and cakes and these are so superior to other options around (anywhere)... It is an unusual payment system whereby you pay what think it is worth, going back to our roots.... (based in common law but not observed elsewhere). I have to say what we ate was worth the equivalent of what we would have paid in any London Restaurant and far superior in taste, presentation and service...

This tea room is open every day except Saturday between 10 and 5, it is run by a community known as the Twelve Tribes and is different from a typical tea shop in several ways. Firstly the tea room really feels like the heart of the home, with a log fire, sofas and a few tables, so none of the usual commercial efforts to create a homely feel are needed. The community work together on the farm, bakery and tea rooms in a friendly and genuine way, which leads to a gentle, homely and welcoming ambience. Finally there is no menu or price list rather a 'For what it's worth box' where you are invited to contribute what you can afford. We sat by the log fire and managed to resist the selection of delicious looking home made cakes, opting instead for tea and the steamed, salted beef, cheese and tomato sandwich, which was first class. The Common Loaf Bakery (www.commonloaf.com) is located here and the excellent range of handcrafted bread 'made the old fashioned way' is sold in markets and selected shops in the area. www.commonloaf.com/tearoom

We visited on a rainy, windy Sunday, arrived and were greeted by a very sweet lady who allowed us to choose a table and then told us their food and drink options. There are about 3 tables downstairs with a mezzanine above, and 2 sofa's by the fire. Drinks are the usual tea, coffee, herbals teas etc. Food available was various cakes, soup or their special steamed sandwiches - onion bread roll with salted beef, cheeses and tomato with a side of crisps. Having seen one customer's sandwich arrive we decided to go down that road :)The coffee was brought over as we waited and we were also spoken to by one of the members of the community who asked where we were from etc. The sandwiches arrived and my god, they are amazing. My boyfriend said it was the best sandwich he had ever had!The sofas by the fireplace were now vacant and the lady asked if anyone would like to move over there, so we did. We were brought more coffee and talked into trying their vanilla cake with ice cream, again very delicious. The man we had previously spoken to joined us and we had a great conversation - he explained the groups ethos and their plans to open a cafe in the town (which would be a great idea IMO as Stentwood is a bit off the beaten track). At no point did any of it get cultish or uncomfortable. At the end of the meal were were told that there is no price structure as such - you pay for "what it's worth" and there is a box for our donation along with their guest book as you leave.I was very very pleasantly surprised. It is a beautiful home / tearoom and you are made to feel very welcome. And those sandwiches - awesome!

First came across this tearoom due to traffic diversion and what a fantastic find, a friendly service excellent food and drink even the very unusual concept of paying what you thought it was worth. On our first visit we had coffee and cakes which are all made on site and too good to resist, recently on our second visit we tried the steamed sandwichs which although sounding odd were really tasty [a meal on its own], on this occasion we were able to buy some of the bread to take home from the onsite bakery fantastic. Now weather has got colder looking forward to another warm welcome on our next visit to sit on the comfortable settees by the log fire and taste more of their wonderful menu.

I was in two minds on whether to review The Cuppa Cabin. On the one hand it is a very unique place that serves great coffee and cakes and yet on the other Im worried it will get super popular as more and more people visit this wonderful place and it will get much harder to find a parking space!! This is literally 5 mins away from me and yet amazingly this was my first visit. I had looked at the place as I had driven past numerous times and thought it looked just like some sheds in a car park. How wrong I was, it is like a mini theme park when you get there, a collection of cabins with an eclectic mix of antique furniture, books galore and oddities, like a cross between an amazing junk shop, an old book store and Enid Blytons secret garden. I half expected to come across some pixies flying around. Anyway great coffee, lovely cheery lady and tasty cakes (pastries and other savouries are also available) what more could you ask for ?
