We went with friends for the Sunday lunch. Loverly roast with a good choice of vegetables, great Yorkshire puddings all lovely and hot. Very good value & excellent meal. Definitely will be going again

Great relaxed atmosphere, always a warm and cosy place. Good selection of Cornish ales with the usual mix of uk brewed foreign lagers. Bar staff (Issy) super friendly too. Good to see sausage and mash back on the menu after about 2 years of absence.

Came here every day for either lunch dinner or drinks waiting staff go above and beyond to ensure you have the best dining experience nothing is too much trouble constantly cleaning the tables as required bar staff friendly overall excellent dining experience every time all positive food excellent carvery good value and very tasty excellent views

Amanda was great, really friendly and helpful... food was served really quickly and was good quality. Good sized portions! Views are awesome here too!

Visited on a Tuesday evening with friends. Had a lovely round table with views out over the bay, beautiful. The food and drinks were really good and very fair prices. I think what really makes this bar stand out over others is the staff, so professional but friendly and attentive, I would highly recommend.

A great place to go for a drink, meal or evening of music. They do a great pub quiz on Sunday evenings, which we attended while having dinner there. Lovely, friendly and helpful staff. A particular mention for Amanda, who is always attentive, and helped us with our table booking. Issy too, always cheerful and welcoming with a great sense of humour. We enjoy all our visits here, especially New Years Eve and Valentine's Day.

We have visited 5 times in the past 9 days, 3 times for eating alongside events. Each time the various food orders have been delicious, served just as you would wish, hot very tasty and nicely presented. Great friendly staff especially the lovely Issy who always has a smile, a joke and knows what we want to order! The Rocket Man event was so good, loved Lees absolutely brilliant performance with costume changes and fine rocking music. Quiz nights have been fabulous fun and our guests doggy enjoyed all the dog treats!

Birthday lunch with friends. Always come here for our birthdays lunches. Lovely staff very friendly and helpful and always accommodating.

Fantastic beer garden with great views of the Atlantic. A fair amount of picnic tables in various sizes and plenty of room inside. Delicious food with vegetarian and vegan options. Good varied choice of drinks. Welcoming bar and serving staff. Efficient and friendly with a smile and a cheery greeting.

It was really good service and our bartender Ellie was really great and proactive. Our drinks were made quickly and chips arrived promptly.

This place has great views and ample seating outside and inside, big shout to Ollie who managed to get us a table for the England game, also great chats with him, really pleasant lad. Food was great ate here for 2 nights fish and chips and chicken burger highly recommend also jam and cream scones in the afternoon :) Its at the quieter end of town which was great. We weren't staying at the hotel but would recommend a visit to the restaurant. All in all a pleasant stay would definitely come back

We shared the veggie thin crust pizza. It was delicious. Really pleasant staff, brought our drinks for us to the table after getting our table number and ordering what we wanted at the bar. Interested after our meal in what we thought of the food 👍 Other meals coming to the tables looked really good and generous in portion. Lovely view over cliff tops of Newquay and the surrounding Coastline. They have DJ nights and live music advertised as you walk in. Plenty of room and space around your table and we could bring in our dog. We came on a Thursday eve and the place had a good buzzing atmosphere.

This place had been recommended for Sunday lunch but when we arrived at 3.45pm they had sold out. We chose food from then main menu, my partner had fish which she enjoyed and I tried the pastie ploughmans which sounded good. The pastie however was tiny and the little bit of meat in it was gristly. I chose not to say anything as the place was busy due to the football being on. We will try another time when we are down here but remember to go a bit earlier if we fancy the roast.

Myself, my wife and girls opted to find a place to eat. We had our dog so googled some pet friendly restaurants and stumbled across this gem. From the moment we walked in we were greeted, served for drinks and placed at a table outside in the sunshine. The girls food and ours came out quiet promptly and was amazing. The kids fish and chips was a good size portion. The girls finished with a icecream. All in all we had a great experience and will be in again.

Wife and I ate here on Saturday 5th March, St Pirans day.We had come in for a drink on the Friday and really enjoyed the singers they had to celebrate the weekend of St Piran so we decided to go back on Saturday to have food.The menu was a typical pub menu and my wife opted for Cod and Chips. I ordered Scampu and chips and when the 'waitress' brought out food she dropped some of my scampi on the floor. Obviously she was new and young and had no experience of what ro do as all she did was laugh and walk away, I even had to pick the food up off the floor myself as she ignored it.We felt rather let down and probably wouldn't eat here again or recommend the placeAlthough there was an excellent pint on Tribute (while it lasted)

We visited at 10.45pm on Saturday night (12/2/22). We ordered a drink and we were informed it was last orders in 10 minutes. No problem, we only wanted the one. Sat down about 10.50 with our drinks and at 11 on the dot it closed up. We were told by the barman that it was ok and we didn’t have to hurry. One minute later another member of staff arrived and asked us to leave via the hotel entrance. Then as soon as he left a lady appeared and demanded we left. It was 11.05 at this point.

Following visits on a previous holiday to Newquay we were looking forward to visiting and having a few Rattlers and tucking into the delicious pizza. After arriving around 3pm we were told no food being served until 5.30. We settled down to a few drinks looking forward to pizzas later. Double checked a bit later on food time to be assured 5.30. As 5.30 almost arrived we were then told we couldn't get any food as reservations were full (although the place was virtually empty). We were pretty disgusted at this point as we could have gone elsewhere sooner had we known and not been misinformed. Extremely disappointing

Sadly whoever oversaw the dining room, micro-managed, kept chasing his staff around undermining them. It was was very distracting. Despite his over-controlling manner, experience was disappointing. I left without ordering dessert, and extra drinks as did the table next to me, because he had instructed staff to set up for breakfast and was following them around checking up on them cleaning, so people who were half way through dinner got ignored. I felt for the waiters and waitresses but sadly it didn't actually get me dessert or extra drinks. Shame because you think it will be wonderful with access to beautiful view but poor atmosphere in dining room and very average food.

My mussels were lovely, and my daughter's scampi were big and delicious, but my husband's burger was a bit dry. We asked to be seated outside to be covid cautious but were told that outside was shut, however the table we did sit at had panels to divide us from other diners. Beautiful views, slow service, but i think that's pretty normal in the pingdemic staff shortage.

I wouldn't recommend this place for food unless there is nowhere else to go. The view from the restaurant is amazing, but the customer service is not great. The waiter spilled a beer on our table and didn't bother cleaning it afterwards. Food was very average.

Great family place to eat, great value family menu and good quality food and prompt service. Thanks to the female manager who found us a table and saved our evening! We ended the night watching the sunset 👍

I have eaten at Steam for many years and have enjoyed numerous good meals but I have to say that my most recent visit was dreadful from start to finish. As soon as we entered the restaurant we felt like we weren’t welcome. The lady on the welcome desk was quite rude and all of the staff we dealt with seemed totally uninterested and cold. Our waiter made us pay for our food at the table before we even received it, which is totally bizarre for a table service restaurant. When our food arrived the chips were totally over cooked, the veg was cold and the rest was average at best. I understand that covid has meant some restaurants may have less staff available but this is no excuse for utterly terrible customer service. I would have complained but to be honest, I couldn’t get out of the place quick enough. I will never go back and judging by most of the recent reviews, I’m not the only one.

After visiting this restaurant/bar when on holiday in Newquay for the last 30 years, we were extremely disappointed this year. The first couple of days we were allowed in but after that were informed we had to book on the app. We tried several times without success even although the place was more or less empty when we walked past. We normally like to sit in the beer garden late afternoon when we leave the beach, however, weren't even allowed to do this. It was very very unwelcoming with doors shut and beer garden locked. We won't be back as we have found some much better places to eat and drink.

Second attempt to eat at Steam on our family holiday. We went to book earlier in the week but saw on the website that outdoor tables were not bookable, but first come first served. Went in the next day to be told that we couldn’t sit outside without a booking, and couldn’t book there and then as they were full (despite indoors being empty). We then booked for dinner later in the week, specifying an outdoor table (as we’re not all fully vaccinated yet and don’t feel comfortable eating indoors). When we arrived we were told that they were only serving their pizza menu outdoors, which seemed fine until we went to order on the app and found only four pizzas on the menu (and two of those were margaritas). Ordered regardless and then had pizzas delivered to table in takeaway boxes with napkins - apparently no plates allowed outside. When I asked for cutlery to cut up our kids’ pizza, I was told by a member of staff that I didn’t need it! Eventually tracked down some cutlery from a different member of staff. I completely understand having to have restricted menus etc because of COVID short staffing, but these rules make no sense and aren’t stated anywhere until you arrive. We technically had a booking inside (if we’d wanted it) so why restrict the menu outside? And even if there is a good reason for what seem like somewhat arbitrary rules, the rules should be made clear when booking so you know what you’re getting. Disappointing this time, especially as we’ve had very good meals here in the past.

Usually very good, unfortunately tonight the starter ‘red pepper hummus with flat bread’ for £7 had no flavour and the portion size was half as big as about 6 weeks ago on the last visit. Also no prawn crackers with the Thai curry as said on the menu, no question asked as to how the food was all night. Had to ask for service every time. Usually good but tonight was poor.

Booked a table only for us to be told that our table is no longer available due to somebody at the hotel taking priority. Don't bother booking, don't bother going.

Food was nice and served quickly. The staff were lovely a special mention to the two young lads who were running around and doing the lion's share of the work when were in! We will be returning when we come back to Newquay Newquay.

I went into the steam with a couple of my friends and when we asked for a table of 4 they said “you better keep walking and find somewhere else”. All we wanted was a quick drink and we got denied like that. Awful front of house service will definitely not be returning or recommending to anyone!

Great service, food and drink with brilliant views over the bay. We enjoyed cream tea, the scone were warm, cream and jam aplenty. We also had dinner, a great menu and outstanding food which was as good as the view with excellent service too

Due to the amount of people staying in Newquay every restaurant was booked, we were very lucky to get a table at the Steam Bar. We were met at the entrance and shown to our table. Due to recruitment issues which is the same for most places at the moment they have a small team of 6 so only book what they can cope with and provide a good service, they said they would normally seat 200 but everyone would have a very long wait and they didn’t want that for their customers or put their staff under pressure. This also means customers are spaced out feeling safe.Well the staff were lovely and the service was spot on, the Pinot Grigio is delicious, I had the steak which was cooked to perfection, my friend and the fish pie. The view from there is stunning and we watched the sunset. Being a local I am very lucky and my friend had been down for the week and now wants to move Down.Wishing all the Team at the Steam Bar all the best and hope they have a good summer. I will be back with friends and family.

Simple menu fairly priced. Prompt service from friendly staff (app ordering) Spacious, clean and well Covid managed. Ordering app could do with a few tweaks such as order a drink with (no ice)

Other places in town were fully booked but we walked in here to find that they had availability. Good COVID precautions were in place and we settled down to order.We had already downloaded the St Austell app when we were at another local pub so we were straight on to that. We ordered drinks at first (no Guinness unfortunately) and they arrived quickly. We then ordered food and I had some lovely mussels in a creamy sauce and my wife had the Hunters Chicken which she enjoyed too. We enjoyed another drink and went on our way.Our dog enjoyed it here too, especially our left over chips.

Booked a table for 3 adults and 3 children. Greeted at the entrance and shown to our table. Well spaced out. Ordered drinks and food via the app which was easy to use. Kids had pizza..which they loved. Burger..fish and chips and hunters chicken for the adults. All lovely and served to our table by masked staff. Very covid secure. Felt safe.

I did try to book this hotel for our recent 3 night stay in Newquay, but it was fully booked. However we had dinner in with friends in their restaurant & were pleasantly surprised with the menu, quality of the food & the prices, which are very reasonable at less that £25 per head, including all of our drinks. I had mussels as my main course, which came with a large chunk of warm, freshly made bread, absolutely delicious & there was so much. The service was good & friendly. The next time we visit Newquay we will make sure we stay at this hotel & dine there again.

Popped into Steam for an afternoon drink in the garden with the dogs, we always visit when we’re in Newquay as we love the views of the Great Western Beach. Now with the COVID-19 restrictions an app is required to order and pay for drinks, only trouble is it just will not download unless you sign in to the pub WiFi, lots of people were having the same problem, we were there 20mins before we could order.That’s only a tiny hitch tho as these safety measures are essential and all the staff were ensuring everyone was safe.Great service, clean and safe

Even though the menu is limited the food was so nice staff were lovely very friendly we didnt have a front sea view but we sat watching the waves crashing against the cliffs so very pleasant evening 😁

Good food and nice staff. They offered a water bowl for our dog straight away. We are inside and the service was good. We had hunters chicken and the scampi, I liked the chips as they felt home made!

We went here for lunch. We asked for a sea view table and that is exactly what we got. The view of the beach was second to none. The staff were really friendly and extremely helpful. The food was delicious. We had scampi and chips (which were amazing), the yellow Thai chicken curry (superb) and the pitta with hummus and salad and fries. When we asked for the pitta with no hummus, they changed it with no trouble at all. I had read negative comments about this place but I can honestly say that it was perfect. We really enjoyed our lunch with a fantastic view. Thank you

A real disappointment. Plain sauce, ingredients cooked all separately. Tasteless rice. Boring... 6 pieces of veg. Does not remind me of a good curry. And that was one of two vegan option here. Do not recommend as for a vegan food. Way too expensive comparing to the quality :(

The pizza was made from a basic pizza base which was also burned and the "tomato base" was a plain passata with poor quality of ingredients. Very Poor quality for the price also in times of covid the tables have been left filthy by previous customers

Arrive before 8pm time slot. Two orders from our table, one arrived over half hour before the other despite ordering at same time. Finished meal at 9 pm due to long wait which is understandable at this time. However unable to order desserts as kitchen closed at 9pm, should have been warned and customers should be served a full meal. This scheme should not enable poor customer service.

ordered our meals at 8-40 arrived 9-25. When finished couldn't order a dessert as kitchen was closed !!! Food was sparce and my steak was cold. Service poor. Wont eat here again.

Visited to have a drink and look at eating later or following day to be greeted by rude unhelpful staff who when asked didn’t want to engage about future bookings, thank god as it was not what I expected don’t get confused with Great Western and Best Western hotels the later (Best Western) is who you need to stay with!

Im local and have eaten and drank here for years, I will not come here ever again. You cant get a signal outside for the new app they require you to use to order food or drink. If you cant order on the App you have to sit inside,You get told where you have to sit as all other tables are reserved, you can't get your drink from inside and take it outside because they WONT ALLOW drinks to be taken outside if you have been given a designated table. St Austell Brewery needs to get their act together if they want locals to visit their pubs and restaurants because i wont be visiting any in the future.

Previously we have always enjoyed The Steam Bar at The Great Western Hotel with its glorious views from the garden but not this time. Due to Covid there are the usual and acceptable formalities on entering. We were advised that it was app and table service only. We immediately responded that we could not get the app to work, so were shown to a table inside - in the middle of the large and deserted 50? table dining room. We asked to sit by the window, so still have a view but were told no, they (all 10?), were reserved. Everyone else was allowed through to the garden. We soon noticed that people were coming in from the garden to order as the app would not work for them - poor signal being the main reason. Wish that we had kept quiet and done the same. We had one drink and left. It was mid afternoon, no-one else sat in the dining room, or at any of the so called reserved window tables. Some common sense is required.

Most staff- we found on our visit - Were really lovely and appeared to work hard to keep the virus protocol in place - but The manageress here is rude ignorant and doesn’t possess any people skills. Altho things in place re the virus she makes customer morale deflate with her rude attitude - as if everyone hasnt enough to contend with - she needs a lesson in hospitality. There is also one member of staff who walks around as if shes chewing a bee - miserable - only one who wears a visa and seems it gives her a right to be unfriendly and with attitude - best just to go to this place just for the views and not much else.

Possibly the worst food I’ve had in my entire existence on this planet. The service was super sarcastic and the staff had no personality. The food was literally vile, I would never ever ever wish it upon my worst enemy. I would rather eat the sand from the beach or the seaweed from the sea. Disgusting. I wish there was a 0 star option. 1 star is super generous.

Been there before and stopped for a drink but were unsure we received the right wine glass amount we ordered on the app. Made the mistake not to flag it straight away and when we did were approached by first a patronising waitress then an agressive and rude manager stating he was never making any mistake. Well .. the mistake was ours to stop there. Rude and no idea of customer service and no our glasses were not filled to the level we paid for on the ordering app. PS tables were filthy covered in food obviously no idea of COVID requirements and regulations either. Not coming back ever.

On arriving the lady was very welcoming & helpful. We placed our order and sat looking out to sea. The view was lovely. Other customers came and sat by us with a dog not a problem if she had had it on a lead. But the dog next to it wasn't happy it was there so they ended up having a bit of a scuffle between them. One of the waitresses come to ask us if we wanted any sauces she came back with said sauce and more or less threw it at us she wasn't friendly at all, if she didn't want to customers they should have put her somewhere else. While waiting for our food another waitress was talking to the customers with a dog she then stroked the dog and then went behind the bar and served customers that was a no no on many levels. Especially at this present time with the Coronavirus. The meal arrived but wasn't the best partners steak dry & slightly over cooked on the griddle that left a taste of charcoal. The waitress who was unfriendly asked if our meal was ok we told her it wasn't she asked did we want another one but partner didn't he didn't eat any more of the meal she tuted and walked away, went to pay the bill and they charged us full price. Not an enjoyable meal what so ever. A birthday to forget

Dont buy the garlic bread.....was looking forward to a nice fresh baked dough with garlic butter..... but no just shop bought pre cut slices with no flavour very disappointing at £3.Cajun chicken burger was nice and I had the rump steak and was cooked to perfection.... friendly service....had to ask for a clean glass after they handed me a dirty 1 with the bottle of wine I bought...Nice place could do with a bit more touch of class about it as has so much potential...always visit here when same stay at queen victoria hotel

We popped in for a drink for a friend's birthday, the bar was empty and I checked what time it was closing, got told it was 11pm and it was now 10.15pm so ordered a drink the lady was rude she didn't want us there no manners and kept glaring at us until we left, no wonder the bar was empty with that service.

We were battered by storm ciara and needed heat and food. Just the place! Lovely staff. Delicious food. Cornish rattler, perfection! Super views too.

The Sunday lunch was excellent and watched them go out for a couple of hours, the last plate looked as good as the first. Braised brisket succulent and tasty. Big portions reasonable price for sea view dining. Staff very polite and helpful.

Went for breakfast with my friend today. Started of okay. Waitress came over quickly and took our order for breakfast and coffees. I’m dairy free so asked for lactose free milk or oat milk she said they only had soya milk, I declined and said I’d have ordinary milk but take my medication before hand. Bizarrely she then brought us over the bill before we’d even got our coffees. Coffees come, latte is spilled all down the side of the cup and the teapot is absolutely filthy but still we got on with it. Breakfast comes and she told me the Chef had made me mushrooms with no butter as usually they are cooked in butter which she did tell me when I was ordering so I was happy enough with that. Food was lovely but after 10minutes my friend had to go up to the bar to ask for sauce as we weren’t offered any and nobody came back to check to see was everything okay with our food. My friend wanted to order more food but our waitress was nowhere to be seen so she managed to catch a different waitresses attention who was was walking by and ordered it. We both work in a hotel ourselves, my friend is a f&b manager and I’m a waitress so I don’t know if it’s different level of customer service we work at but our original waitress definitely has poor customer service skills. I still can’t understand why before we even got our coffees as to why we would have the bill slapped down on the table when there was always a possibility we would order more coffees etc. It is a beautiful place, the food is lovely and reasonably priced but the customer service definitely needs some attention.

We had a great evening at the Steam Bar. There was an excellent group playing (I think they were called Jukebox Protocol) We had a table booked for approximately 19 but only 18 arrived so we had a family member sit with us at the table but he was asked to move out as he was not eating. We said the meal was paid for but the very rude (acted as a manager made him move outside) She was very rude to me my family and other members of our party. We had a great evening. The band was good. The food was acceptable for the type of meal. The rest of the staff were very pleasant and very helpful it was just this restaurant managers manner it was awful. She spoiled our evening for me and my family. She shouldn't be with members of the public as her manner in the way she spoke to us was totally out of order. I run my own business but I wouldn't last long if I spoke to my customers like this. I hope management read this and try to answer it but this women should not be in a responsible position.

Met up with our parents who LOVE this place for a few drinks. Lovely place, friendly staff and also the most amazing pizza. We ordered the ‘size up’ for sharing between four of us and it was light, delicious and massive, the smaller one would probably have been enough. Definitely worth a visit.

Customer service could definitely be improved, ginger man I think was the manager spoke to me with terrible attitude, He was quite rude.

Popped in for a dinner the other day and had the thai green chilli which was very tasty and it was a massive portion too, rice coooked to perfection. Service was good and smiley,,,, Amazing location overlooking Great Western beach..thank you guys

Ate here a couple of times, one for Lunch and once for evening meal. Lunch had a £7 cheese sandwich, may sound expensive but well worth the money, trust me. Evening meal had the Thai Green Curry and have to say best I have had outside of a Thai restaurant. Part of the Great Western Hot and Dog Friendly.

A delicious lunch for 2 adults and an 9yr old child. Fish and chips were fresh and delicious. Child had a smaller portion of the fresh, battered fish and thoroughly enjoyed it!

It's a regular place for us to visit when on hols as it's an amazing place for a chilled drink in the sun with fantastic views. It dog friendly too so win win! They have a fab live music session on a Friday night too which can be outside in good weather which is perfect for a chilled drink relaxing in the sun! Next time we go we want to have one of their lush looking pizzas, someone on the next table had one which looked delicious plus it was massive & even did half & half toppings! Love the place & it just keeps getting better!!

Called in for tea with the teenagers as we do every time we come down to cornwall.the food is not cheap but the beer garden at the back is such a lovely place to eat .we can soak up the views from our seats while eating or food .I had mussels with bread and fries (the fries don't really go)which I enjoyed very much at the cost of $16 and the others had hunters chicken at thirteen pounds so bit more pricey but everyone enjoyed it so it's worth it for a treat .great play area for younger kids too.very relaxed staff.

If your this side of Newquay. It’s gonna be hard to find a place that serves breakfast before 10. We have a booking elsewhere so had to eat early. Fab that I found this place that opens at 7:30 am !! Yet it isn’t advertised on google maps etc when I searched. The waitress was prompt. Bill given. Food arrived in about 10 minutes. Can’t complain!! I’m sure there would be lovely dinner and tea here, yes it’s a chain but hey it’s reasonably priced and the view is a bonus !! I’m quite fussy but you get what it says on the tin. Thanks for breakfast guys.

There's nothing not to like about Steam. Great location with great sea views, inside or out. Great St Austell brewery beer, Pizzas are excellent, really good food and excellent service.

We visited this fine bar several times during our stay nearby and have to say the it's on a great location for views of nearby beaches. The staff were very friendly especialy issy. Looking forward to returning next year.

Lunch in the sunshine but more expensive and not such a nice view as the sister pub. Outside area is all smoking which is a deterrent for me and the children's area not suitable for the very young.

Steam is basically a pub restaurant, but is excellently located on the sea front, with great views across Newquay bay. It can get a bit hot if you are sitting next to one of the large windows, but there is plenty of other seating. The deal is odering food and drinks at the bar having noted your table number. Bar service is pretty good, even at quite busy times, and food is prepared pretty quickly. For lunch try the seafood platter, which is very good value. We did order a meal that included the local lobster, but what was brought to the table had no lobster in it. I pointed this out to the waitress who promptly went to the kitchen, and returned with two small bowls full of lobster claw meat. She did offer to take the whole thing away and bring two fresh meals, but I thought that would have been gratuitous - the food was pretty good anyway.

Drank in here many times during our week in Cornwall and had a light meal. Lovely pint and really dog friendly with staff offering us dog treats and water bowl. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Went here 3 times as likes so much the pizzas are loverly price ok the views are amazing fabulous to see the SUN setting , very very busy but goes dead around 9.30ish but I think that's just newquay, the only thing I'd grumble about was the 3rd time we went waited over an hour for our food had to ask twice and still didn't come and when it did it wasn't that nice so I would stick to pizzas .

We went to Newquay last weekend for a weekend away and ended up staying at the travellodge around the corner. We brought our dog thinking that it was a dog friendly hotel but we found out that the dog was not allowed in the restaurant or bar and we were not allowed to leave the dog unattended at any time meaning we could not eat or drink in the hotel at all.

Extremely Unprofessional staff. They all looked unhappy and moody. Customer service was awful. Didn't serve my partner, waited 20 minutes at the bar on a TUESDAY AFTERNOON!!!!! Extremely dissatisfied. Won't be coming here again. Waste of money. Wouldn't give it even a 1 star.

Visited for breakfast on Saturday morning The food is always reasonably priced and to a good standard Service is always friendly and quick A great place to start the day, overlooking the sea Good value and recommended

We were lucky enough to get window seats overlooking a surprisingly blue sea and golden sands. The place was clean, the staff were efficient and our meals were pleasant. Well worth a visit.

I was looking for somewhere in Newquay to enjoy a meal whilst bringing my dog along. The views were great, but unfortunately my burger was like it was something my canine friend has for breakfast. Saying that, the other peoples food looked delicious. I’d still recommend this place - just not the burgers.

I ate in here for 2 nights and although the food I had, Pizza, was very good I was forced to have the same thing 2 nights in a row due to the lack of other vegetarian options on the menu

Breakfast beautiful sat looking out over the bay. So much food could not finish it all off. Nice staff

We went in for a late lunch, I opted for lasagne a new dish to them & it was scrummy. Came with garlic bread & salad which was perfect. Hubby had pie his favourite which he had with chips & he loved. Staff were great, checking we were ok & even getting us a top up drink as we were mid meal when our drinks ran out! They also brought our pooch treats to keep her happy. We love this place & go whenever we are in newquay. Just wish they had dog friendly hotel rooms!! #perfectstay

Not visited for a while. As locals we do have a big choice. Thought we,d pop in for a drink and check how the change from train to pirate ship was progressing (this is the children's area of the beer garden). The area was still cordoned off as work is still on going. We ordered a pint and a half of Korev this is a local brew which is very nice. £7.15 sounded a bit steep so checked the price list situated at the end of the bar area . The prices here stated Korev was £4.10. One of the bar staff was just leaving the back so I questioned the price..she said oh that price list could be different to what you were charged its changed. Firstly a 65p rise in a pint is extortionate.. the price list on the wall should be changed accordingly..and in my eyes is misadvertising. Will still go back as we love the beer garden and the views..but not as often as we,d like to.

Four of us had lunch here today, the restaurant was really dirty - both the table and chairs we were sitting on.

This was once the dullest and least attractive venue in Newquay...but today, it is up there with the best. Superb views of the ocean and the local beaches, free WiFi, helpful and friendly staff and a decent menu all add up to a memorable experience. Sitting outside on the terrace, on this almost unbelievably sunny, February day, it seriously felt like Summer. Highly recommended.

We Visited the steam grill on 12/09, i had red thai curry which was delicious and well prepared, my husband had steak ale pie which he loved. It wasn’t very busy as it sometimes is and the weather and views were breathtaking which was perfect. Excellent service from Emily, Lucie and the lady at the bar whom we forgot to ask her her name. Highly recommended. Thank you for a great meal and friendly service.

We were meeting friends in Newquay for a chat and catch up, who we had not seen for several years.. As we were staying nearby and had passed Steam a couple of times and thought it looked a good place for a coffee and have a view of the bay we settled to go there. Luckily we managed to get a table by the windows and had a great view.

This place serves a really decent pint of Korev but is seriously overpriced and as a local there is little reason to come here. Food is okay but once again massively overpriced

We ate dinner on a cool and wet night at the Steam Bar in the Great Western Hotel in Newquay. Nice modern place but lacking atmosphere. Great views over beaches and Newquay. Service was good but food a bit slow in arriving even though it was not busy. I had fish and chips and spouse had Crab rarebit plus two Tribute Ales. I think it is a St Austell pub as that is the beer served. Nice food and beer. All for GBP 32.

It's a regular on our list to visit when in Newquay as we loved the views & our pooch is always made so welcome (as are we). We ate here twice this weekend & can highly recommend the cajun chicken burger. It's a gorgeous butterfly breast not reformed rubbish. It comes in a lovely fresh brioche bun with mayo & I upgraded to sweet potato fries to make it perfect! My hubby had fish finger butty & that too was lush. I've never been disappointed so worth a try in my book. Enjoy!

We visited the Steam Bar several times during our week long stay in Newquay!

We chose to eat here because the resturant whuch was our 1st choice was fully booked. We usually go for 'small businesses' type of resturants, not chains. The bar was busy and the food area was like a huge dining hall but we were able to get served quickly and by friendly members of staff. The food was very good and cooked beautifully, there was plentiful choice. Its true to 'not knock it before youve tried it' in this case, we were plesantly surprised.

We have eaten here loads of times. We always come here at least once when we are in Newquay. The food is nice and is always reasonably priced. The service is fine for a bar. It does lose a point because when we went the card machines were not working so I had to go out again and get some cash from a machine.

But we were very pleasantly surprised! Food was incredible, service was great: friendly staff. Food served until late, and the views are magnificent! We would definitely go again. Good value for money too!

popped in for a quick drink before heading home one evening.. The guy behind the bar ( could of been the manager) was really helpful in helping me choose a Gin...great selection.

We had mixed opinions on the food, best summarised as 'specials board was great' but 'regular menu was average'. Long wait for food but they did pre-warn so that's okay. Some tables have great view, large outdoor area as well.

We've had breakfast there and dinner more than once. Get out the back to eat because the bay views are excellent and possibly unbeatable.

If the staff were any slower serving drinks they'd go backwards or I'd of died of thirst. Great views though of Newquay from the rear Windows or outside on the beer garden/patio, which is quite big.

Had a nice evening meal here as a family of five with two dogs. The food was good and priced competitively. Amongst our meal selection were the local muscles which we thought were especially good. The staff were friendly and the view is great, especially at sun set.
