The food was phenomenal and my waitress Tilly was so lovely and helpful. Would definitely recommend checking out the surrounding woods also. Can’t wait to go back!

Ordered two breakfasts, one with scrambled eggs please. Can't have scrambled eggs. Why not? you have scrambled eggs on toast on the menu. Yes but you can't have them on a breakfast. Obviously never heard of the customer always being right. Anyway drove a mile up the road and found the Fourways Grill. No problem with scrambled eggs here. Lovely breakfast. Thank you Station House Cafe, without your pettyness I would never have discovered Fourways. Guess where I'll go in future.

Appalling sevice this afternoon. After checking cafe was open until 5, I set off on a long walk with the intention of getting a bite to eat & coffee. On arrival at 3.45pm I asked if they had any sausage rolls and was told kitchen was closed. I asked for a coffee and was told the machine was off but they could make me one on the other machine as it would be just the same (it wasn't- it was weak and tasteless). When I asked so what time do you close? I was told depends how busy we are, if its quiet we just shut! Ok, so what time are you closing today. About 4.30. So i have time to finish my drink as visit the ladies? Sure. At 3.58 I finished my drink and went inside to be told sorry cant use the toilets as the floors are wet after cleaning (health & safety) At this point i left to walk back towards the car, cutting my walk short as i was hungry and needed the loo. After 28 years of visiting this cafe its a goodbye from me.

Pros - large menu - local bits and vegan options. Staff were polite Cons - just about everything else. Expect an hours wait for food (small kitchen, so I understand a bit of a wait, but when you’re the only people in there and just getting one small item, I’d expect it to be quicker). The cakes were very dry and not that nice. “Rich hot chocolate” was about 2 scoops of powder followed by hot water and no milk. It was undrinkable and translucent. I threw most of it down the drain. I feel conned from it being £4.20!! The only pro was that there was a nice amount of cream on top. They definitely have the ability to steam milk as there is a coffee machine!! I’m glad I gave them a second shot but I wouldn’t recommend it. The one in Delamere forest a short walk away is also pricey but significantly nicer.

friendly service clean cafe great to stop at when you have been walking through the forest, last time we were there there was a minimum spend limit of £5 dogs allowed if you sit outside and water bowl for dogs provided the food has always been well cooked and hot there is a small car park for you when you use the cafe and it is still a working station

Have been going on and off for years, we went today just for an ice cream we were charged £2.50 for a small ice cream cornet. We regularly went up for an ice cream just for a run out but at those prices won’t be going again

I enjoyed a generous and tasty all day breakfast and there's a big menu to choose from, good cup of coffee, wide selection of cakes - more choice than the cafe down the road in the visitor centre and a nice seated bit outside bordering on the station for if you're with the doggos. Loved it!

I have reviewed this business before but as an update it seems to have changed hands since and no longer allows dogs inside, it now displays a no dogs sign. The food is also not as good for example the fish finger sandwich was basics bread and fish fingers and that was it rather than previously having salad etc. I also had cake and didn't realise til I'd eaten it that I could have had custard for the same price too. Hopefully it will change hands again as I regularly visit to walk my dog and it was previously so welcoming.

Female staff member on the counter today not very friendly, quite abrupt really! Ordered 3 portions of toast and ‘preserve’ at £2 per portion so £6!!!!!. Be warned, don’t order toast or a breakfast sandwich because it was the cheapest, thinnest bread that they could use. Total rip off and the ‘preserve’ was one of the cheap plastic packets that costs pennies. Beware the high prices, I really don’t mind if they use quality ingredients and the service is pleasant but you won’t get that here!

A couple of years back I had a quick bite to eat here - nothing to write home about and the interior was a bit tired. Visited today and it’s quite a transformation. The inside has been given a lick of paint and the staff - mostly youngsters, uni students on holiday - were cheerful and positive. The food range looks bigger and better than previously. My walking partner had smoked salmon and scrambled egg on a bagel. Thumbs up! I went for an old style bacon butty. I got exactly what I asked for - bacon and white bread - but it was a bit pricey (over 3 quid) and lacked imagination. First of all the white sliced bread was the sort my nan used to use 40 years back. Surely, they can stretch to a nice rustic doorstop! The butter was likewise very average - cheap quick-spread variety. The bacon was good and saved the experience. And that was it. For the price you would expect a little dash of “extra”. Maybe a few crisps on the side of the plate. Or a handful of salad with a dash of balsamic vinegar. Now that would have made the whole thing stand out big time. We had some cake and that was excellent and seemed to be homemade. So I’m positive - but for a few pennies extra in costs they could turn this place into a food destination.

Four of us met up here for a light lunch. The food was average and I felt that the wooden tables were not very clean with crumbs, salt etc from other people’s meals stuck in the grooves. It was also very cramped at 1pm. This café is reasonable for walkers and visitors to the forest and handy for those arriving by train but I would not go out of my way to return.

Stopped here for lunch after walking in Delamere Forrest. Everything about the place was average for a cafe. So much more could be done with this place. The location is great with its own parking and the station building and all its industrial features are really atmospheric. There are also outdoor tables if the weather is good. What they serve, however, is just average for any type of fry up/chips with everything cafe - other than the home made cakes. There is not that much for vegetarians. They do have a main meal for veggies but this is quite big when all you are looking for is say an avacado wrap or mediterranean veg on a cibatta. They would also benefit by installing a good proper coffee making machine. Very few people like filter or instant nowadays and a lot of people go decaf. I also dont think many people know its there. We only discovered the place due to a previous bike ride.

we visited this cafe twice in the last few months , but just feel that the coffee isnt really value for money , i would like to see a larger more hot coffee being served and when we bought lunch the cakes were served straight away after money had been handled and the cakes were touched by hands , It would be lovely for the staff to wear gloves and understand that they must keep a watch out of the garden as while we were pulling up in our car we could see children pulling and breaking branches off the trees and using there own food and drinks , it just is a slight put off for customers , maybe if somebody had come out and just told them to stop it would have felt better ... customers could see this going on and drove off .This little cafe looks lovely but could be made to be better just with a few little extras.

4 of us came for a coffee and a bite after open water swimming. The staff were great; very friendly and quick service. The setting for the cafe is lovely. Interior was clean. Why wasn’t it great? The filter coffee was acceptable, but no more than that. Nowadays you expect better at a cafe. The sausage batch was really disappointing. £4.00 for a batch isn’t very expensive, but it isn’t cheap either. The white bun was basic, like a supermarket value range. The sausage was similarly very cheap and unpleasant. It’s a shame. Use poor ingredients, you get a poor result and a poor review.

Stopped for lunch here while walking through Delamere. There is seating outside, with some shaded by the trees. Lunch was ploughman’s. pretty standard, but of a good size portion. Alcohol is served in bottles, nothing on tap. Ok for a pit stop.

My first visit to this café, which on a Friday serves the most amazing fish and chips, to either eat in or take away. Six of us turned up for a "Fryday" treat. Service was extremely good, food was hot and very tasty and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. A few of us had a pot of tea (delicious) and a couple of us had a glass of wine. The "Fryday" is from 6pm to 8pm, well worth going.

Stopped in here yesterday during a bike ride to feed my hungry girls and could not have been more pleased. I try to avoid the regular forest cafe with its long cues and meh good but have heard so many amazing things about this and was so glad We have it a try! We were greeted by the gorgeous Wendy and a young man (whose i didn't get) who helped my girls make a selection and then enticed me into their fish and chips. It was probably the best fish and chips I've had! The battery was so light and had that perfect crunch, no soggy greasy bits. The curry sauce, oh my goodness. You have to order this as well. Sadly, mine was stolen by my daughter along with most of my chips but it was divine! The vegan and vegetarian options sounded delicious, I'll try one next time. There's also Snugbury's ice cream here as well which never disappoints and their cakes looked amazing. This place will definitely become a regular stop for us! Thanks guys!

We called in on our way home from Delamere Forest for an early lunch. Service was quick, and the good prepared fresh, but because of that arrived piecemeal. It didn't impact on our enjoyment, but could be a problem for a big group waiting to eat together.

We often stop here on a long journey as it’s great for a coffee/picnic/snack when we need to take a break, and it much nicer to stop in the Forest than to use a Sevice station. There is a free car park, plenty of outdoor seating if you have a dog, and toilets, in addition to a good range of food and drink. You can make a day of it here, and combine your visit with a walk in the Forest, or a visit to Go Ape next door, if you want to spend longer here. The building is most charming, and we always find a visit here nice and relaxing.

I came here a couple of years ago and remember being unimpressed. Ended up here again this morning with some time to kill before my train so I thought I would risk a coffee. Service was friendly and polite. The coffee was good. Although I didn't eat myself a few other people were and the food looked really good, and there were some attractive looking cakes on display also. The place seems much improved since my last visit, I would come here again fefiny, hopefully for a meal.

Sorry guys, but on the two occasions I visited I have been overcharged and had to correct the lady serving me how much it was. On both occasions long delays and wait. I did just order toast and coffee but £2 for a cup of filter coffee is overcharging I'm afraid...toast was soggy, strawberry jam was a cheap plastic variety, scones very 'miniature', a bit of a disappointment I'm afraid as the place and location have so much to go for. I visited this place on a number of occasions and this used to be an excellent place for a local lunch..

Have been here a few times and had a cake and tea after a walk. OK generally, but today I saw that they had SOFT BOILDED eggs with soldiers on the ALL DAY BREAKFAST menu so I fancied that and ordered accordingly. They arrived HARD BOILED with un-buttered toast. I then asked for this to re-ordered as the menu did state "dippy" eggs. Finally the eggs reemerged but on opening them I found that they were both well under cooked and almost raw. I took this back to the counter myself and asked for my money back. To which the lady in eh kitchen responded " I cant be Arsed!". Anyway I got my money back and will not be using this establishment again.

Just want to say how lovely it was to go here with friends for a Christmas lunch. It was absolutely beautiful and the serves was brilliant as well. Seeing we had booked ahead they had reserved us a table as well. The greeting we received from Anita was lovely and through the whole time she served us nothing seemed to be any trouble to her. I think you are very lucky to have such a lovely employee as Anita working for you she really is an asset to you. With her beginning so professional we are going to organise to bring a group from our church here for our Christmas meal in 2026. Thank you Anita for making us feel so welcome.

Extremely disappointed tonight which is unusual as we really enjoyed going before refurbishing. Food was not good a all. 3 cheese burgers one plain and 2 with one piece of lettuce and a chunk of onion. The fries on all three plates were overcooked. The onion rings were overcooked although we did eat some. The carvery was nice except for pigs on blankets as they had been left under heat lamp far to long inedible. The fried chicken sandwich was tasty.but again fries overcooked. The young lady gave me a box to bring the full burger home to put in the bin. This is unusual so not sure if they changed the chief or they were having a bad day. Tripped over the side of the chair and hurt my leg and informed the young lady it was a safety issue she said she would inform the manager but didn’t take steps to remove the hazard. ( not sure yellow and black hazard tape is adequate if it’s covered by the arm of the chair that’s broke ?) this time wasn’t value for money and we left feeling dissatisfied. Felt like they just couldn’t be bothered . Sad really as we have loved eating here 😔
