I'm a frequent visitor to the daytime menu at Stargazy and it’s fantastic Ruth is now opening occasional evenings too. Friendly atmosphere, łocal art, excellent breakfast/brunch/lunch and now evening menu (I recommend the Turkish Eggs - a spicy zingy dish!) . Always a delicious menu, great music and the most fantastic cakes and pastries all made with love and passion by Ruth often with home grown ingredients!

Beautiful, small indie café, quirky interior full of art with tables that are shared amongst customers. Owner was super friendly and chatted happily with the customers who were a mix of regular locals and tourists (like me!) as she took orders and made the food. I had the Turkish eggs which were out of this world! Perfectly poached eggs, homemade flat breads and the right amount of spices to wake you up and get rid of any lingering hangovers 😂 I also took a cake to takeaway which was 👌🏼 Such an amazing array of cakes that you can tell have been made with a real passion for baking. Deffo worth a visit if you are nearby, just gutted I didn't find this place earlier into my stay

Awful experience. Was spoken to rudely and made to feel extremely uncomfortable throughout our whole experience here. We bought two drinks each and would have purchased food if we hadn't been treated so horribly. The owner clearly didn't want us there as students. Clearly hasn't realised she is running a business in a University town, dominated by a student population. Openly and loudly stated to another customer that she didn't want students in there, whilst we were sitting right next to them. Actually asked to leave whilst still drinking our second drinks to allow for other customers to come in, despite nobody even arriving to need our table. A real shame as the building and interior was lovely but will not be returning and I wouldn't recommend any student to go in as we are clearly not welcome, even when we are trying to support our small, local, independent businesses.

This small, personable and stylish cafe/pantry is the hidden gem of Penryn!! Situated in the center of Penryn high street, you will find the most delicious food, cakes and coffees but also the most wonderful woman greeting you - Ruth, host and chef extraordinaire!! We love this place for so many reasons. Our fav meal is the tasty (and generous) Huevos Rancheros!! Also the most amazing dish Ruth calls Caponata which combines a succulent aubergine stew with hummus and homemade focaccia bread… drooling now. Ruth is an absolute genius in the kitchen, and such a lovely lady, making everyone welcome with her charm and gentle stylish manner. Also she makes the most delicious selection of cakes, coffees and pastries… Go, feast and you’ll not regret it!!!

If you're even remotely working class, don't bother. Full of scruffy vegans being rubbish snobs. It's the only place I've been into where I was shown how to use tableware, a mistake from waiting staff is to show a diner how to read a menu without being asked.

Upon entering the small, but vividly painted café on the main street in Penryn, you are transported to a colourful idyll; enveloped by the smell of fresh coffee and the sound of some smooth jazzy song, often in Italian or Spanish. The food is well priced for the size of the portion (which is hearty) and the quality of the Cornish grown produce that went into making the beautiful all day brunch style dishes. The coffees are warming and aromatic and the cakes that accompany them are always fresh and homemade. There is quirky artwork adorning the walls, local artists predominantly, some even friends of the slightly quirky proprietress (quirky in the best way possible of course, a deeply interesting human being). It is altogether a wonderful experience every time I happen to venture into Penryn. Marvelous

Having looked at the reviews and photos online, I had high expectations for Stargazy Café and was a little disappointed. The place has branded itself as an 'artisan' café, and the prices reflect that. As a massive brunch lover who can be hard to please, I have no problem paying extra for a great breakfast but, for me, the quality of food here did not justify the high prices. The menu choices seemed limited and my eggs were over-seasoned to the extent that all I could really taste was salt. I was also not very impressed with the service. The two waitresses I interacted with seemed to be in a bad mood and did not smile once or give a single 'please' or 'thank you' when I paid the bill. As someone who used to work in hospitality, this is a massive pet bug of mine. The food was pretty good, but unless they're going to offer something a bit more special they need to bring the prices down and the service up to attract me back again.

Really excellent and tasty food. I wasn't quite sure what I wanted but the waitress was really helpful and did a great job of talking me through the menu. I had the welsh rarebit which was fantastic, and have since returned and had a full breakfast which was also great, especially the sausage patties. There is an excellent variety and choice on the menu for both meat eaters and vegetarians. The cakes are extraordinary: light, moist and fluffy. I will definitely be returning again!

Nice and relaxed atmosphere, with easy going customers. Unfortunately, first impressions are key, my initial welcome and query was greeted with silence and rolled eyes, and a waitress who scurried back to kitchen to converse with the chief about a difficult customer. I was hungry so I stayed and ate good food. There are lots of little cafes in Penryn and I won't be rushing back to this one. Maybe if you appear more to the proprietor taste you will get a better welcome.

A fantastic range of cakes and hot, freshly cooked food. I have tried the Welsh rarebit, the bacon hash and the brioche French toast. All extremely tasty and a lot of food on the plate! The staff are very kind and polite and the premises is welcoming. It is a small cafe but you can have your food to take away also so it's win win! Friendly staff, good food, extremely small premises. So chances are you will need to share a table with others.Great food, but too expensive for such small portions. £7.50 for avocado, two poached eggs on one slice of small toast. £2 for a black decaf coffee in a small cup, wish I took a picture now! Food was well presented but for me was not value for money or worth it. If you have deep pockets and a small stomach then this could be the place for you! Good luck in your adventures Stargazey, no hard feelings ☺

Goat's Cheese and caramelised onion sandwich in Artisan bread was epic but the side salad, complete with Cape gooseberries, pomegranate and nasturtiums, completely upstaged it! Wow. Staff were very friendly and the food well cooked, the burgers looked great. My gripe was that I had a "Special" which was Fritto Misto, a favourite of mine. A traditional Italian dish of seafood including mussels, prawns, squid, octopus and small anchovies/whitebait. It was well cooked and presented but other than two prawns and some squid (which was beautifully cooked) but missing the mussels, octopus and anchovies but strangely included two small pieces of battered fish straight from the chippy. Strange.

Muddy Beach is in a good accessible location with views down the estuary. It's upbeat inside with outdoor seating for good weather. Service is friendly and efficient. Food is quality produce. My partner particularly liked his mushroom hash. I found the burger meat a bit gristly and would like it if it came with gherkin, love gherkin. It's a popular place to come. Prices are not cheap but average for Cornwall
