Starbucks in South Oxfordshire

Great location, lovely staff, but the coffee is only and frankly miles behind Cafe Nero.

Most of the staff are lovely , but the cleanliness of the place leaves a lot to be desired, the toilets are terrible also

Squalid establishment and the young girls working there allow trash piling up outside and inside, which spoils the beautiful Henley atmosphere. Inside the shop smells like trash and decomposition. Pictures are from today. Atrocious.

Still outside Starbucks 8.10am and still not open poor show !!

Awful cup of coffee today, I ask for a small oat latte so you can actually taste some coffee but it just tastes of warm oat milk, shocking how different each branch is.

A regular Starbucks on the main shopping street. Service as expected. Mostly sandwiches, pastries and cookies as food options. Offered both indoor and outdoor seatings. Customer toilet. Even if it was pretty busy when I visited, it wasn’t difficult to find free seats 😊👍

Only 2 ladies working and they were pleasant and working very hard but for amount of people seemed short staffed. Well done ladies though for your efforts

Got served by a polite young man, wish I had asked his name. This Starbucks is a cut above many others.

Ignored as would not take any orders this place needs east euro staff quickly. Shame as Starbucks in a place like Henley should thrive but I guess east euro workers can’t afford to live here

Went in for a quick drink, sadly one member of staff seemed far happier moving some boards around than serving customers, feel Tom need a little training on customer service, couldn’t wait any longer to be served sadly

The guy who served us was great. The rest of the seating area was a mess. Littered with empty cups, rubbish, tables out of place, crumbs and food on floor. Seriously unimpressed

One star for closing at 2pm when they are supposed to be open, we drove half an hour to find it closed, staff shortage! I understand but put it on the net and spare us the drive. Angry face 😡

This is not a bad review for the hard working staff that work in this store, but more for “manager” that seems to drop by every now and then and speak to his staff terribly in front of customers! I believe I heard the colleagues call him Alex. What an awful rep of Starbucks he is! The first time he came in, he spoke to one of the young lads awfully, he didn’t pull him to a private area of the cafe, instead he spoke down to him in front of all the customers, it was very awkward for myself and the poor guy that worked there. As a manager myself this is unacceptable! Today he has come in and ordered a coffee and then questioned the barista and again was very rude and spoke down to her. His entire mannerisms are disgusting and I hope this review gets him to improve his managerial skills and people skills because they are extremely poor. He is putting me off wanting to come in! Hopefully I never have the pleasure of seeing him again.

Arrived around 12.55 and ordered a black coffee. Place was about 1/2 full maybe 20 customers. Stood there for ten minutes, and no sign of my coffee. Finally, I walked out. £3.50 put down to experience I will never go there again. Total waste of my time and money.

Middle of Henley for a mid-ride coffee stop, very easy and pleasant outdoor seating. Service functional as you would expect from Starbucks.

Drinks are expensive enough in these establishments so when you do pay for it, you expect a half decent drink. Urgent staff training needed and maybe an adult to supervise. Will not be visiting this place again.

Horrible, Dirty, staff don't care, will not return

Visited Starbucks in Henley with my 11 year old-Starbucks-obsessed daughter earlier this week and had a lovely experience. Kind, chatty staff that gave all the help we needed when picking a drink and my daughter was able to get hold of the James Charles ‘pink drink’ which she was obsessed with! The only trouble was slight let down from a brunette-curly-haired teenage boy who’s customer service was clearly behind the others- it appeared he was new or didn’t want to be there. Very different atmosphere from other Starbucks, in the best way! Much more homely and friendly people that care rather than shocking service and lack of conversation that i have experienced in other stores around the country. Very clean and I watched the cafe being actively cleaned at all times by a member of staff (unfortunately she dropped a bottle of spray that spillled everywhere which we were able to have a giggle about!) I also couldn’t help but notice the positivity board they have in their cafe which we fell in love with- my daughter has it plastered and hashtagged on her instagram! Overall, fabulous and the best Starbucks we have visited!

Walked in, 5 young members of staff behind counter, all talking. Went to sit down when I noticed how dirty the seats were, then a customer came in with 2 dogs, one of the staff came from behind the counter to stroke dogs, but had no time to wipe our dirty table over when we arrived. Young lads were sitting in eating food from elsewhere just sheltering from the rain, plus people were walking in off the streets using the toilet which was unclean. Would not recommend this place.

Lots of staff behind the counter, not one of them have an ounce of interest in what they are doing. Service is very slow, one taking orders, one preparing and one standing playing with her earring. Eventually order arrived and was wrong, I pointed out to the girl who just looked at me……….terrible service Seating area outside has not been cleaned for weeks and makes the area look untidy

I have been to Starbucks a couple of times in my previous review it was lovely and likeable. In this review I am outraged of the amount of people standing behind the counter (6). There were 6 people behind the counter and not one served me. Also the lack of training involved is outstanding. Some customer had to help the staff because they were incapable of doing it themselves. If it was up to me I’d hire the young lad. He looked much more professional!!!!

I wouldn't normally bother to write a review about a coffee experience but ..... popped into Henley this morning, decided to try a coffee from Starbucks - despite deciding not to return a few years ago as coffee was inferior. So, against my better judgement - ordered a cappuccino and flat white. The girl preparing the coffee barely looked up, and just pushed the coffees at me. The flat white was disgusting, watery and no flat ! Took it back - and asked politely if it could be changed. Same girl looked at me and said "really?" - explained why, she then proceeded to slam stuff around whilst re-making. I told her that she needed to lose the attitude and learn some manners. Didn't even apologise, just shoved the coffee across the counter - still disgusting so poured it away. Avoid at all costs (namely £6.50 for 2 coffees). Much better independents in the town with polite staff!

My food wasn’t served properly. Everything was a mess. And the most important thing was that’s the staff working there were more important on there phones (under 18s) than working, especially when it was busy. Do not recommend. If they are gonna work there. No phones. Clean the place. Sort themselves out.

Was closed at 12 o’clock on a Saturday because the worker was on lunch break at the busiest time in the week?

this was the best starbucks i ever went to, i went on Sunday and the people working were so lovely and happy and inviting- put me in a good mood. will be returning soon.

Drink was excellent. Staff was kind to customers. My drink which they know was perfect with all the syrups added. Love the experience. Would definitely recommend!!

It was quiet when i ordered, had to wait about 10 minutes for my drink to be made (considering there were 3 people behind and only one customer infront of me thats not really ok) , all while 2 of the people working were chatting about downloading an app?! Shouldnt this be done at break time? Or when theres no customers? Got my drink which was missing caramel sauce from topping, when i asked for it to be put on i felt like i had massively offended her. Seems no leadership or management going on at the time and more of a social outing for the people who worked there. Its been getting increasingly worse so i wont be returning again.

I don't really know why I have frequented this store as often as I have over the years. Visited again today - no stock of Chai Tea so ordered Pumpkin Spiced Latte. Asked for cream, came without, asked for pumpkin spice powder for the top, came without, asked for cinnamon powder instead, came without - the member of staff just laughed. Out of all the PSLs I've had from this store I've never actually managed to have one with the full ingredients! Can't wait for eggnog latte season..... (roll of eyes). As for the service, WOW is all I can say (and not as a compliment). Just listening to the staff moaning about how long they've worked that day, how they've broken a fingernail, and generally chatting rubbish, with the service speed of a glacier. Get your act together Starbucks Henley - order more stock so you can actually fulfill the drinks on the menu and recruit staff who actually want to work there (or at the very least are efficient).

Good coffee & cake but no sugar ???

Very poor service I'm afraid. It took over 20 mins from when I walked in store until I got my drink, even though I was 2nd in que. Seemed like a lot of staff, 6 I counted, but no-one seemed to organising things. 😬

During Sunday they don't open at 7:30 . Just saying ...

Service was slow when it was quiet. With a change of staff may have improved.

3 adults and 5 children were quickly served and then one very messy coffee got knocked over by one of the children. Cream quickly replaced by staff with a smile whilst another got down on the floor and cheerfully cleaned up the mess with a,”don’t worry it happens all the time with children, can’t be helped.” Then big smiles thanking us for coming as we left! That’s what I call service.

Henley Starbucks is in a great location. You can sit outside in the High Street and enjoy the gentle bustle and sunshine. My Vanilla Latte after a 60K cycle was delicious, but at just under £4, a tad expensive!

Coffee on the go while having a cycling break. Location is excellent as you can enjoy your coffee while looking at the architecture and people. Enjoyed the flat white😁

Clean and well ordered with the covid controls and queuing. Good Starbucks produce and nice helpful staff. Seemed to be the one of the only 2 places open

I went the with one of my friends and didn’t bring a card so they gave us our drinks for free even didn’t charge us for extra whip cream. It was amazing the drinks were so good I got the strawberry one it was perfect

Oh Starbucks, how i have missed you so. Your venti iced caramel machiato with 4 shots of coffee never fails to waken me . I know we are thinking the same thing ... what have i done all these 3 long weeks without one. Well my dear friend, let me tell. I have gone insane. The other thing is that i have saved a considerable budjet. But we all know where i will be spending that when tnis comes to an end.. Thank you forever and always a faithfull starbucks customer

It's a small Starbucks and the coffee is what you'd expect

The espresso was extremely hot very bitter and sour , First and last time in here . when making a Good coffee there are a few things that are important, the time between roasting and brewing, the speed of the water passing through among others. please teach your staff the correct way.

I used to rate the big coffee shop chains as 4 star, but given they don't pay enough tax in countries in which they operate, and they're getting more and more expensive, but by bit, I now rate them 3 stars. Perfectly ok if expensive coffee shops, can't fault the coffee quality, but there are loads of independent shops with high quality coffee, great ambience and service, and really interesting alternatives to the big standard panini and cake selection. Sorry big chains, the indies are getting better!

The first time I visited a branch of Starbucks was in NYC in the 1990s - so cool, so different from the UK - it had sofa!!!! The ethos so very attractive 'At Starbucks, our passion for coffee is rivaled only by our love of sharing it'.And so very, very far from the reality that is Starbucks Henley which is it is unpleasantly dirty, sticky and full of Henley Sixth Form College Students.So, in my own experience, anyone in Henley over the age of 18 would not (of their own free will) go to Starbucks. However, my DS persuaded me to go there so he could have a Strawberry Frapuccino. Despite the recent refurb it is still not the place any right thinking adult would frequent and so I bought his drink and left. I went round to the H cafe which was terrible and left me wondering how these places still exist when they are paying the high rent and taxes in Henley?

DO NOT go to Starbucks. It has a serious ethos problem - Read on... I have anaphylactic allergies to a multitude of different foods, of which includes milk. I ask for a caramel macchiato with no cream, and made with plain coconut milk. I know that people go through fads and phases of wanting things like coconut milk for healthy benefits’, or going vegan ‘to be healthier’, but I clearly stated and told the cashier that I had ANAPHYLACTIC allergies, and told her that I carry an EpiPen because the reactions can be extremely serious. I am sure that she knew what I was talking about. I always have to check again what ingredients are in the things I consume, so I checked at the whether the coffee had milk and again, the lady that made it said no. I drink it, and low and behold have a horrific allergy. I won’t bore you with the details, but I must say it totally ruined my weekend! Not only the negligence of the servers was a problem, but also their attitudes. They seemed very far from being at all worried, and they acted very unconcerned. I ask whether the drink has milk, and they say yes, as if they simply don’t care. Aside from this, they DENIED me a REFUND!

We come to Starbucks on a lot of occasions. The actual food and drink isn't budget-friendly but not ridiculously overpriced either. Coffee is normally not to bad although there are a few one-offs when it isn't good. There is normally a lot of seating, and the number of employees varies. Most of the time, I find the cafe a little dirty however. The muffins and cakes are good, and the hot chocolate is the best within a fifty-mile radius, which is probably my favorite thing about the cafe. The coffee shop is in the town centre on the corner which attracts a lot of people. Usually it is busy, but on a good day there are only a few people there. I would recommend Starbucks Henley if you want good quality coffee and cakes at a reasonable enough price.

Staff are always friendly, quick and they get my coffee just right everytime

Caramel frappuchino was not caramelly enough and a bit icy.

Very nice gluten free panini and a cup of tea.

I ask for coffee to be made in a particular way and I am never made to feel that I'm a nuisance. The only problem is that sometimes the café isn't very clean. To be fair, though, it's very busy there and the staff are all serving and they do the best they can.

Went here this week, hadn’t been for a while. It’s still as dirty, chaotic as before. 2 guys who didn’t seem to care too much, wrong coffee served, then wrong cup , then wrong size so I drank it anyway. Bacon roll was overcooked and dry.Normally like Starbucks but this one is pretty awful. Better off going to other local Henley cafes ........ all of them are better than Starbucks. Won’t be back.

Recently moved to the area and have used this cafe at times. Staff are not attentive at all. There are either 3 young staff members talking and giggling behind the counter or only one staff member serving everyone.......a poor example of Starbucks standards

I did only go in for a Water with ice and a banana, we all know the coffee is over-priced but not why I'm writing a good review. The staff is why. They are understaffed but superb are the ones that are employed deserve a raise especially the lady called Maddy (best water server in the world) Good to see they had Ghana's Bananas.

The member of staff was very helpful, which I much better appreciated. The coffee was mediocre.

The building suffered serious water damage from a burst pipe last year and has been completely refitted. It is vastly improved, the decor is drab but very clean and tidy. The service is a lot better too, and the coffee is excellent. I have not eaten here but they offer a selection of snacks and cakes, which look appetising.

Good place, to get a coffee and the free WiFi isn't that slow.

We visit this place frequently and I have to say it is consistently good. Although the staff are sometimes too busy to smile the store itself is in good condition and the quality of coffee is always great.

Currently sat in this Starbucks. It's over 30 degrees outside and I here it's like you'd expect Shakleton to rock up. Its blessedly cold in here. I real refuge for those of us not blessed for a complete love of the heat. Polite staff also. Tea as ever with Starbucks should be better but it's a coffee shop after all. Everyone else is enjoying their drinks which are all iced this and frappe that. P.S I like the art they currently have in here too!

Terrible tea. Starbucks need to use a better quality teabag. The Henley on Thamrs taff should also check the toilet for cleanliness and to top up the toilet roll.

Friendliest staff out of every Starbucks. They always remember my drink that I have and have it made within seconds of me walking through the door. Top notch from the likes of Maddy and Phil. If only they got paid more.

Haven't been to this branch but if it's like all the others (and why wouldn't it be?) it serves overpriced, poor tasting coffee-like drinks.

Polite and friendly team. They have recommended various drinks, in the end, I had Youthtea, which taste like a pineapple. I was looking for a seat nearby socket, they happily assisted me to sit down with all my bags and tea.

We came here just before 6pm with the knowledge that they closed at 7pm. When we arrived staff were already stacking chairs on top of tables and making it clear that they wanted to be closed. There were 5 separate groups of people in the coffee shop so it wasn’t like the shop was dead. One lady who came in had to take a chair off a table so that she could sit down. At 6:30 I wanted to order a hot panini but they said that it was too late to order hot food as they turn the oven off before they close. There was no apology or customer service. This really was the worst Starbucks I have ever been to. The photos were taken well before the shop closed.
