Starbucks in Cheshire West and Chester

I ordered a tea and a cake and sat down at the back to do some work. The staff were friendly enough to me but dear god the hygiene and cleanliness of this branch is appalling. Bags of refuse being carried all the way through the seating areas, tables were filthy, the smell was disgusting, but the worst were the toilets - see pictures. One wasn’t working and the other looked like it had been deliberately ransacked. Atrocious that a high street coffee chain could allow a branch to be kept in this condition.

Dirty place! Popped in on Tues April 2nd with teenage daughter, for a sit down and cuppa. I’ve been here a few times and thought how disgusting the toilets were but figured it was busy and I’d perhaps caught them on a bad day. But no… this time was the same although hardly any customers. I was desperate to go so decided to brave it. No loo roll, filthy floor, it reminded me of a nightclub loo from the 90’s. So with that, we left without parting with my hard-earned cash. The place being dirty is THE BEST indicator of their cleanliness standards when making your drinks so be warned!

Dirty dirty dirty. Probably dirtiest Starbucks ever been in and I have done USA and Europe. Toilets not checked for hours and I would say the main area hasn’t seen a mop for years.

Unfortunately 10am and this place is not laid out, not clean but the most disappointing is the staff. A usually chatting amongst themselves whilst being the slowest service I have ever experienced. Needs some management.

I wanted to write my review to say I had amazing service by a member of staff called Connie the other day. She treated me really well, was very friendly. Next time I go I hope Connie serves me again.

Visited a couple of times over the last few weeks. Staff seem to be working very hard during these surreal covid times, have witnessed several rude customers who seem to ignore the fact we are in a pandemic! Social distancing is in place. No ceramic mugs available at present & rightly so for hygiene reasons. Good food options, seating areas are all spaced at a safe distance from others, toilets are ok, I often find people like to complain about the toilets in Starbucks but negate to notice that some customers are just disgusting and seem to think it's ok to abuse the facilities provided by cafes by peeing all over the floor and general being filthy. Overall the team here have been nothing but polite whilst working incredibly hard to make sure I like many others get to have our coffee & cake.

Me gustan mucho los Starbucks y asisto con regularidad en mi ciudad natal, sin embargo, mi socio y yo habíamos venido de viaje a Chester para su cumpleaños y estoy deshonrado por lo grosero que fue el personal. La señora que trabajaba en la caja no dejaba de hablar sobre mi novio de una manera muy grosera cuando intentaba pedir bebidas y resoplaba y resoplaba cuando le preguntó si podía usar su tarjeta de fidelidad, por lo que no veo que haya algún problema. Estoy completamente a favor de todas las medidas de distanciamiento social implementadas, sin embargo, sentí que el personal realmente nos mandaba decirnos dónde pararnos, etc., lo que podría haberse dicho de una manera mucho más amigable y nos dejó muy incómodos. La mesa en la que nos sentamos estaba sucia y no había personal alrededor para pedir que la limpiaran. Luego, cuando nos íbamos, un miembro del personal le gritó a mi novio al otro lado de la tienda porque habíamos dejado un envoltorio de paja en la mesa (bastante bien, no debería haberlo dejado pero no nos dimos cuenta) avergonzándolo frente a muchas personas. de otros clientes y le dijo que lo tirara a la papelera, de nuevo, lo que podría haberse dicho en un tono mucho más tranquilo y amigable y no en frente de muchas otras personas. ! Después de haber trabajado en un café, sé que estas cosas pasan y el personal debería estar limpiando mesas entre los clientes de todos modos, especialmente debido a COVID.En general, una experiencia muy negativa que es una pena, ya que todos los demás lugares que visitamos en Chester fueron muy acogedores y amables.

Acabo de estar en Starbucks en North Gate Street Chester. 29. 8. 2020 4 pmA la luz del hecho de que tenemos coronaciones de Colvid 19. Estaba consternado por el estado del local. 1. Las mesas no se limpiaron cuando nos sentamos en una mesa previamente sentada por otra persona. Tuve que limpiarme. El baño para los clientes estaba frente a mí. Todos los clientes, hombres y mujeres, usaban el baño para discapacitados. Yo mismo que estaba discapacitado estaba muy molesto por esto. Había al menos 20 personas usándolo y ningún miembro del personal fue a limpiarlo. Cuando me acerqué al miembro del personal que llevaba un delantal verde que decía en el tablón de anuncios que se acercara si tenía algún problema. ¡Su respuesta fue que estamos demasiado ocupados de repente! ! ! Le dije que el colvid es importante y que deberían tomarse medidas. Como mi amigo me dijo que me sentara porque soy discapacitado, pidió 2 bebidas y comida, si hubiera sabido que el establecimiento estaba sucio, le habría pedido que lo cancelara. Resultó que dejamos nuestras bebidas y no volveremos a usar Starbucks ya que no se siguen los procedimientos.

Qué experiencia tuvimos en esta tienda el domingo. . . sin distanciamiento social. Comida y bebida dejadas en la tienda. No se limpian las mesas. ¡Los baños estaban llenos! El personal es muy grosero, especialmente una dama. El frappuccino sabía a agua. ¡Nos fuimos y también callaron algunos otros!

COVID has put paid to that great atmosphere you always got in a coffee shop. I always loved getting a coffee and people watching. Despite the staff being great, a coffee shop without the buzz of people lacks something.

Filthy! Seen better toilets in a Chinese restaurant. You’d think charging so much for a coffee they could afford to look after the place

Supongo que probablemente fue después de las 5. 30 cuando llegamos y para entonces la mitad del lugar había sido acordonada y no estaba disponible para sentarse. Queríamos el café filtrado pero la máquina estaba rota, así que tuvimos que elegir la opción más cara de Americano. También elegí el pastel de canela remolino que estaba bien. El servidor estaba un poco fuera de control. Nos sentamos en algunos de los cómodos asientos y tuve que quitar las tazas de la mesa antes de sentarnos. Finalmente, las mesas fueron despejadas y limpiadas. Decepcionante ya que hemos tenido buenas experiencias aquí en el pasado.

Entró en este Starbucks el 2 de enero, no tan ocupado, el lugar estaba en un estado correcto, tazas y platos apilados en todas las mesas. Limpiamos una mesa nosotros mismos esperamos en la cola para nuestras bebidas, cuando se les entregó dijeron que no tenían tazas limpias y tenían que tenerlas en una taza para llevar. El café tampoco era genial. Llevaré mi negocio a otro lado.

This is one to avoid, queues, slow service, limited availability of speciality drinks.We needed a break after spending the best part of the day sightseeing, we found that the area we were sitting in was closed off whilst we were drinking our coffee no warning - had to climb over a barrier to get outThe loos need condemning! Surprised the public health dept has not closed the whole place on the grounds of a health hazard.

Coffee as expected. Gluten free panini nice. But visit spoiled by toilets being unpleasant. Would put me off visiting again.

Llamé ayer, desearía no haberlo hecho. La cola tenía 15 minutos de duración y cuando me di cuenta de lo lentos que eran, no quería irme después de haber esperado 5 minutos.Pedí un capuccino médico con un tiro extra esperó unos buenos 10 minutos esperando mi nombre. . . No es un susurro. Hice evidente que estaba esperando al lado de la caja pero nadie dijo nada. Entonces pregunté dónde estaba y uno de los niños fue directo al final del bar y lo trajo y lo entregó sin decir nada.Le pregunté dónde estaba el croissant de almendras que había pagado y la chica estaba un poco desnuda como si fuera mi culpa.Así que ve a otro lado a menos que quieras que tu día se vea afectado por el servicio al cliente cero ofrecido por un grupo de niños ignorantes. Finalmente, el café era como leche caliente y el croissant de almendras estaba duro y definitivamente no estaba horneado ese día. Nunca volveré a usar Starbucks.

I pop in regularly and the service is always great and friendly given how busy that shop can be. Shop can get a little messy but people sit and throw rubbish on the floor instead of using the bins so that says more about the customers than the staff I’d say.

As with many Starbucks in this country, the service was slow but it was a very popular coffee shop in this lovely old city. Too few staff serving too many customers, looked like being the reason for slow service. Coffee was good. Pastries could be better.

This place has a lot in common with another established in Chester namely- Rosie’s nightclub! I have fond memories of going there.. and putting up with the filth and grime, disgusting toilets and lets not forget the famous sticky floors.. well Starbucks in Chester today reminded me of that very experience...I literately stuck to the floor...it was that dirty like they had not mopped it in weeks!! This place should be closed down.. how they are allowed to carry on with this standard is beyond belief...

Jordan and Angel gave stunning service. Loads of drizzle. Good service and excellent convos. Defo recommend.

I only gave it one star because I had to give at least one! Our table was cluttered with dirty cups etc , there was a girl who picked up off a cple tables around ours but left the dirty stuff on ours! We had to ask for it to be cleared ... the same girl came but she never wiped one table that she cleared .. all were left filthy! I had wet wipes in my bag so cleaned our own!!! The girl serving drinks never cracked a smile or made eye contact with customers! The toilet was absolutely disgusting ... toilet roll on the floor , wee on the floor , sink was dirty , the cold tap doesn't work , and it stank of stale urine!! Never again would I visit here!

I went in today usually I see the lad from liverpool and he is lovely he’s always got time to stop and talk to me and the kids, he wasn’t there today and I didn’t stay the queue was stupid the staff had no idea what was going on from one person to the next. Shame really because the place has huge potentiannl

I always used to visit a rival chain of Starbucks for my morning/afternoon coffee and never visited Starbucks much.

Have to say, never had I ever had such a poor experience with a member of staff from starbucks before.

Wasn't going to write a review even though I did walk away from this Starbucks genuinely fuming!. Then spotted the other reviews and it makes perfect sense.

Our drinks were made today by Ryan in Starbucks Chester. He was so incredibly enthusiastic and polite, he clearly enjoys his job and considering how busy this store can get he is extremely quick at producing drinks and seems to keep the place running smoothly. My friend and I ordered a cold brew latte with extra vanilla and a caramel macchiato - to which we both agreed were the best we’ve had in a long time! He even came and had a chat with us outside whilst we were having our drinks. Thanks Ryan, you’re a real asset to the store!

the review below is spot on - the young guy with shaved bleached hair is obnoxious and either needs retraining or putting with someone who can keep an eye on him.

I've been in here a few time's with my husband and every time we come in we have been displeased with the service given by the young man with dyed blond hair.

Went into Starbucks today with my family as granddaughter wanted a "secret menu drink". The staff advised her on all the different varieties she could have, explained what they all were and helped her to make her mind up without pushing or rushing her and even wrote her name on the cup. Granddaughter was more that happy. All four members of staff were friendly, talkative and made us all feel at home. Well done to them all. Could not of been a better experience.

4 staff working at 17:40, place is filthy, drink order wrong, oven broke wasn’t told this when ordering. After waiting, I had to ask who was making drinks, turned out one person serving and making drinks. When I complained to manager who seemed more interested in picking up the cookies she had dropped on floor whilst counting them and putting them back to sell, she wasn’t bothered I was abused by other staff and told that they had loads of other things to do and that there were plenty of other places to get coffee in Chester. Got a refund and went to Storyhouse. I am a daily visitor to Starbucks and this is by far the worst one I have visited.

After being out in the horrible weather, I decided to pop in and get a caramel latte to warm my bones. I was met by a very charming Kyanna who was very helpful. Her cheerfulness made me forget I was soaked to the skin and would recommend this Starbucks even just for the staff. They’re amazing.

Went in for early coffee,cheery guy serving even at 6.30am, nice coffee, but I sat outside and there were a few cig butts due to lazy people, actually saw a young lady from the shop opposite Smiggles throw her stub into the Road before she opened up, what chance have we got?

I go in to starbucks every Thursday for a coffee on the way to work and have recently been served by Josh several times.

Good coffee stop on a day out in Chester. Nice brews all round. Decaf Americano I had was great. Son loved his frappucino. Service was friendly and chatty. Sadly there were some issues with tidiness especially the loos.

No Starbucks in Wrexham so popped in here while out in Chester. Nice good Coffee, friendly staff (especially Wendy) in a nice location. Will definitely keep coming when im in Chester Gill

Over all fantastic experience. Kyanna and Josh stand out above the rest. They are always friendly and helpful. The experience as a whole is quite fun and would definitely recommend.

Called in about 5 on a Sunday. Two staff on duty, a third (presumably management as she had a clipboard and phone) perched on a stool. Dirty cups and plates on virtually EVERY table. Had to move from one to another but tables all dirty; debris on the floor clearly hadn’t been swept all day judging by the amount there. No awareness shown by any of the staff of the state of the place and no attempt made to even clear tables when any of them ventured out from behind the counter. Large group of Italian students walked in - and wales straight back out again. Embarrassing... Outside was dirty, fag ends all over the pavement. Just a general lack of care, organisation and professionalism on display. Plenty of attention paid to the ‘closed’ area at the back which was being mopped - but what use that an hour before closing when people clearing tables themselves prior to sitting. Starbucks have lost the plot in this store - embarrassing for a ‘premium’ brand. Shame as the coffee and chocolate muffin were actually quite pleasant - just as well.... Very disappointing as it’s down to staff awareness and training by the looks of it. Will definitely NOT return to this Starbucks and wouldn’t recommend AT ALL.

A Starbucks is a Starbucks. There are a few, mainly food variations country to country, but it’s darn good coffee, comfortable seating (and this place is quite big) and free WiFi.

Visited Chester and decided to go to Starbucks for a well needed coffee break after shopping, ordered our drinks and found a seat, tables were not very clean, I needed the loo and asked for directions from the staff, OH MY GOSH.... went to disability loo and extremely quickly turned around to leave, ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING... used sanitary pads left on side, dirty tissues over floor, had to leave before I vomited, found the ladies loo not that much cleaner, had to use tissue to open door etc after I washed my hands as didn’t want to touch anything.. the experience has put me off for life.. I WILL NEVER RETURN

Visited about 10am and the toilets were very dirty so obviously hadn’t been cleaned that morning or maybe even for a few days! No toilet roll and overall very unclean. Won’t be using again!

We visited for a coffee and tea. The tables were left with dirty cups and sticky tables. The floor was messy. The toilets were disgusting. Tea is really weak. The mugs are too big for one tea bag.

Called in with friends for drinks while late night shopping. Plenty of staff but tables were dirty, floor had napkins & other mess on it. Drinks were usual standard but felt the staff needed to be more proactive cleaning the tables & floor.

Just simple, perfect coffee! I had a cappuccino my daughter had a hot choc. Both were excellent. There is plenty of seating, my only criticism would be a lot of tables had cups on them and the tables needed a wipe over.

Looking forward to my coffee after walking across town 15 people waiting only 2 staff. Tables not cleared. Walked out the door and into delightful Chatwins across the street instant service half the price. Starbucks is supposed to be premium product needs to get enough staff on.

Well what can I say .... toilets are an absolute disgrace .... not what you expect from a Starbucks. The whole building looked like it needed closing down and cleaning. Will be very reluctant to visit again !!!

Upset. Just bought 2 cold drinks and asked for one half syrup at the till very specifically and when arrived had full syrup and cream on (which they just spooned off) and I asked is there half syrup a guy said yes it has is in it. I said to the girl I ordered half the amount of syrup and she said it was was but had lied to my face as she had put in the usual 4 pumps. Cannot drink it due to the high content. Wasted money. Plus bf drink had cream and he asked without cream. Asked for new drinks declined. Where is the policy if unhappy make you a new one?!?

Friendly service, but sadly tables were left dirty and needed to request for them to be cleaned. Toilets were dirty and it was clear the nappy bin hadn’t been emptied for a long time.

Having just arrived in Chester we needed a coffee to get us geared up before our shopping started. An average but long narrow shop, a little outdated (needs a makeover) but the coffee was good and the staff pleasant.

The drinks were mediocre but the whole place was grubby. Not busy when we visited but tables unclean and rubbish everywhere. Seats grubby too. Not a place I would visit again.

Sorry - this place is to be avoided. It was a mistake to think that they could deliver an espresso that tasted of coffee and not just bitter. If you want bitter - go to a pub!

I tried here for a coffee once and to be honest nothing stood out about it for me it is a typical Starbucks.Good coffee but I feel it is overpriced the staff are friendly enough the premises is fairly large and there is a couple of tables outside but I do not even like the locality for sitting outside as it is far too near the road and not the most relaxing place in Chester

Wouldn't go again. I usually enjoy Starbucks and we called in for 5 hot drinks as we were gasping for a drink after a long Uni graduation at the nearby cathedral. My latte wasn't very hot and others said the same about their coffee and tea. Don't think they want you there very long hence cool drinks. Tables were dirty too and uncleared. Avoid!

Loud, crowded, tables not cleared quickly enough, disappointing coffee as usual - big on volume, little on taste. Keep telling ourselves not to go there.... really reinforced the reasons why.

I came to Starbucks today knowing from past experience it was a welcome I look forward to the staff in particular Lucy was absolutely wonderful and a pleasure to be around I ended up coming back twice in the same day for a coffee as I enjoyed myself and the staffs company Lucy in particular seemed to take masses of pride in her work and came across very friendly and well mannered can’t wait for my next visit loved it I enjoy going places I feel comfortable in due to my autism and this place was hands down best coffee shop in chester 5 stars STARBUCKS thank you Lucy

been three times to starbucks in the last week unfortunatly it was filthy although the coffee was good we will not be going again if its that dirty were you can see i dread to think what its like were you carnt see

Popped in for a drink and a cake. Decided to go for a cold iced drink with fruit in which was nice. I also had a slice of the millionaire shortbread. The staff were really friendly too I asked if they do a loyalty card which the gentleman member of staff talked to me about and how to use it. Which was great. Lucy staff member was lovely too.

Staff in all coffee shops nowadays work hard making ridiculous drinks that sometimes don't even include coffee although are stylised as them!

It was packed as it was stormy outside. But the service was on point! The staff were friendly dealing with the queues, and also with a dishwasher crisis which meant all drinks were served in paper cups even if you were staying inside.

This store is not really any different from other Starbucks in appearance and is a good size for shoppers on a busy day. However, what elevates it from average to very good is the quality of their staff. The morning I visited there were 3 young ladies serving behind the counter and each was happy, friendly, and efficient. What more can you ask for? A decent latte perhaps? Well I got it !!

The place is just a standard Starbucks same as anywhere but it just seems that busy that the tables are getting cleared and wiped down or the floor swept as often as it should be.

Have to say the big chain coffee houses have no character. Service and coffee just ok, nothing to shout about. The smaller more friendly independents are better value.

Liegt in einer Seitengasse. Draussen Sitzmöglichkeiten. Drinnen eher beengt. Service schnell und freundlich. Tische sauber und abgeräumt, Toiletten ein Horror. Je eine für Männer und Frauen, eine davon defekt. Boden mit Wasser überschwemmt, nicht sauber. Kaffee trotzdem gut.

Shocked by how awful this Starbucks was. Litter all over the floor, toilets disgusting. Floor, walls and tables dirty, including area where you help yourself to milk&sugar; etc.

Young lady who served me on Saturday afternoon was a credit to the company, excellent coffee and a smile.

when you want to meet in a place without to much forethought why not try a starbuck, good standard for drinks food and cleanliness. personally I'd take a chai latte any-day, prob everyday if pushed :) and a Cinnamon bun

I ordered a vanilla latte while my other half got a hazelnut mocha and they were divine. I wasn't too fond of the microwaved cheese toastie but other than that it was great. great service as well

This place is so quite today so why is it so dirty? Spoons, paper and food on the floor and the toilets look like they were last cleaned a few days ago. This is really a disgrace for Starbucks and the management , if there is management, should get a better grip on the place.

I visited Starbucks today with my daughter and we were given a dirty cup with someone's lipstick on the rim. When I asked for new coffees in the disposable takeaway cups the server became very rude and said I should have asked for them at the till. I wanted to reply that I would have, if I knew that they didn't wash their cups, but I was with my daughter and didn't want to spoil a nice day. Before leaving I used the toilets which were absolutely filthy. I will never be coming here again.

Always busy, front of shop ok, where the coffee is served. But further back, where we had to sit, is dark, dreary, untidy.

The staff at this Starbucks are a credit to the company (particularly Eve). I work across the road and always visit on my breaks and after I've finished. She always gives me a warm welcome and makes me want to return. She is an absolute credit to this company; although Starbucks is a large chain this coffee shop feels like a community café. The drinks are expensive but if you purchase a re-usable cup you can get discount. The wi-fi at the front of this store is quite difficult to receive. Also the shop does not have contactless readers. There are often large queues and this could be speeded up if contactless readers were installed.

We visited early doors on a Sunday, was already busy with big queues. Service seemed very very slow and tables were not bring wiped down and cleared quick enough, seemed certain staff were more interested in talking to another off duty member of staff that had come in. Whilst we had our drinks the service seemed even slower as we watched and the queue then went right to the door. as normal in Starbucks drinks were Luke warm. Wouldn't bother again, we later found Costa.

Called in when we visited the christmas market it was great to just relax and unwind in one of the armchairs and have a great coffee and a peice of there carrot cake will call in next time we are in the city

We went here for a late afternoon snack, there was very little choice of sandwiches etc, but we had the BLT and it was ok. The coffee was nice. This is quite a big Starbucks, so plenty of seating. The tables were clean, not a lot of character to the place though, it looked a bit stark!

I went here with my sister & 18 mth old niece. The service was ok ( I do find it a tad expensive!) but I was most disappointed with the toilets! They were vile. For such a popular chain, bringing in the amount of money it does I was not impressed. The ladies toilets were filthy. They need a complete refurb but a decent clean would be a start.

We stopped in for breakfast on a rainy day. The drinks were good as usual, and the sandwich selection was great as well. I very much enjoyed the great variety of seating. I've never been in a Starbucks with so many seats.

The staff were very pleasant, it was fairly early morning, and just a few were there, reading papers, it was a pleasant atmosphere. I had a latte, which was very enjoyable.

Nothing to shout about or criticize with this Starbucks, its pretty middle of the road. I use it often when I'm passing / shopping in town... They do have seating outside, but there are better coffee shops in Chester

Every time we visit Chester for a shopping trip, we go to this Starbucks. Its perfect in every season whether you want a hot or cold drink, and the staff are always lovely!

Go here regularly with my partner, generally we'll order green tea, which is great, but also enjoy the cake but I think the best thing about this Starbucks is the cosy atmosphere. You can easily relax and unwind from a day of shopping. Perhaps one problem would be the wifi connection towards the front and mid section off the store, seems that perhaps the routers locations is towards the back. Would highly recommend.

Managed to get my order wrong twice, then served my drink in a mug with lipstick around the outside. Doesn't exactly scream cleanliness!
