Very enjoyable Sunday lunch enjoyed by 8 of us 1/9/24. Food was served very promptly and the staff, as usually were very pleasant and friendly.

All fine, staff were very friendly and attentive, OK not the Dorchester, but ideal for a local venue, no bad comments to make,

Sidcup place is a really nice pub. The food is nice and it's not cheap which is a real shame that when your food is brought to you you then need to get up and get your cutlery and sauces which should be brought to your table in my opinion. The staff were congregating on a table outside the bar and had to be told to serve as myself and someone else was waiting. Service really needs to be better. I went before this too and was outside, I ordered everything through the QR code so it was brought to the table and when it arrived was told to go in and get all the cutlery, napkins and sauces i had no idea where it all was. It's absolutely pointless and annoying to ask this of customers.

Had a lovely meal.very good portions service ok and we had a very nice waitress. And with a compare the meerkat app we got 25% off our bill. Will be going back

We have rented a function room for our wedding celebration and it did not disappoint us! The atmosphere was amazing, staff were so friendly and helpful, food was great! Buffet is so generous! We had so many staff around to make sure all is going well. Really recommend!

I requested a table outside of the big dining room. Nobody had read my request and sat me in the, large dining room, It was my birthday and as before, in came mum's with their noisey children running around, couldn't have a proper conversation. So although

We visited at 5pm on a Friday for drinks followed by dinner. The variety of drinks and a reasonably priced menu were on offer and service at the bar was good and the food was quite satisfactory. Unfortunately, the person being served before us at the bar was not wearing a shirt and this was very offputting, not least as he needed to address his B.O. The barnan served him nevertheless and it was clear there is no policy on topless men being served there or if there is it isn’t implemented. We should have left at that point but we had already ordered. Will not return though if it’s a warm day!

The Friday night karaoke was so much fun, we had such a great time! Chloe, Olivia, Alice, and Maz who all work there were such warm and fun people, highly recommend!

Could this be the best pub in Sidcup? Yes, it could; but sadly, it really isn't. We're sorely lacking for pubs with gardens in this bit of Sidcup. The star is perfectly set in the middle of the lovely greenery of Sidcup Place. It's a lovely old building as well- former manor house that should make a lovely scenic backdrop for a pint and a burger. The food in the past has been ok- I've had a half decent pub burger here although that was a few years back. On a subsequent visit food wasn't so good. In spite of all the potential it's pretty lacklustre. Every time I go for a drink I feel like I've accidentally walked into a restaurant rather than a pub. The bar is dirty, service is slow and there always seems to be something unavailable. Last time I was in all three ale taps were out. The outdoor seating area is ok but doesn't quite live up to its potential, a bunch of randomly scattered tables on the paved area and in a closed off section of the car park. It's frustrating; I've visited lots of times over the years and I always feel like it could be both a decent pub and a decent restaurant, it somehow manages to be below par at both. In short, this could (should) be a real gem, but it really needs a good polish first.

Went here for the karaoke night last night and had an absolute blast. Great venue with friendly and personable staff. Huge variety of drinks that were very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend for a great night out!

We held a baby shower in the private function room and cannot thank Roxy enough for all her help with making this day so special. Everyone commented on how lovey and generous the food was, especially the roast. Also, the atmosphere of the venue was very chilled and we were fortunate enough to have beautiful weather to sit outside with the guests. Looking forward to our next event!

Lovely garden pub with ample free parking. There’s a lovely green which you can enjoy in the summer. The food was pretty average but fairly priced but the service and atmosphere were lovely.

Went for a couple drinks as sun was out we sat outside well what a mess tables needed clearing, pigeons eating what was left on the tables, staff came out to deliver drinks and food but not one of them took any dirty glasses or cleared plates, such a mess and shambles. Management needs to address this ASAP

Called in for an early dinner so not many people there. Good was very tasty and reasonably priced. Waitress very pleasant and efficient.

Requested to reserve a table in the bar area, this was not done and others that had requested tables had there’s reserved! Not the first time that’s happened, food orders was a shambles due to things on the online ordering system was available and shouldn’t have been! Coffees alway luke warm never hot! Overall not happy, heard that a publican in Bexleyheath is taking it over later this year, good as hopefully they will be better.

We were welcomed promptly and shown to a very nice table in centre of restaurant, so plenty of room. We we offered menus. Were a little disappointed that there was no "specials" menu available on day of visit when normally there is. While we waited for our meals to be cooked the waitress bought our drinks. Well cooked food arrived, pleasantly presented. Unfortunately, one of our party had a steak which was full of gristle. Maybe the supplier of steaks needs to be spoken to. Otherwise main meals very good. Nice selection of desserts. Very enjoyable visit.

Both Olivia and carol gave excellent customer service whilst having a family meal. They were attentive without being too imposing . The meal and food was lovely . We had drinks afterwards and both Paige and Taylor were fantastic . Def recommend will be visiting again

this is a historic building and its a great pity it lacks good service and cleanliness. The outside area is dirty with rubbish broken umbrella some with no stands. A spring clean inside is needed and a paint overhaul. The menu is not good. No option of biscuits or cakes with coffee or tea. The Chef when we saw him looks grubby .

Food was disappointing, ordered the kofta started cz i wanted a meaty snack and it was processed frozen food instead with tasteless mint sauce… it really is disappointing because its not hard to make them fresh with mince meat, it doesn’t make sense.. the till system is weird as well, there’s only one till and 1 person processing orders as well as making drinks

Booked for Father’s Day. Restaurant failed to deduct deposit paid from final bill. On phoning following day, spoke to manager (?) who was offhand which was surprising given that it was their error. Didn’t refund to preferred card and denied this was requested by me following my feedback to head office. No apology given at any point for the inconvenience. Would be reluctant to return due to this disappointing customer experience but did find all other staff encountered at the restaurant very nice.

we were going to eat but when we got there the chef if that what he was look like he had not washed we had to wait for our drinks becaues the barman was on the phone the place was dark and drity shame because it a lovey place the menu has not change in years

First time of visiting this establishment. Very impressed with the location, the food and the service was absolutely great. George our waiter was on ball, very attentive and happy to meet and manage my sometimes odd dietry requirements.

Had a really good time here for a relations 50th birthday. Staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The menu is very varied and also tastey. Husband had hunters chicken and I had lasagne. Both very good. A friend had steak which was cooked exactly as she had asked. I live locally and used to visit this venue regularly. However the standard dropped drastically in all areas of hospitality here and we stopped attending for a while. After now 3 return visits I will make it a regular and will recommend to anybody

We were a group of 20, Allyce-mae, Taylor and Becca looked after us really well. The only downside was the delay in taking our initial orders.

The star at sidcup place was lovely, the food was great and the service was fab. There were a few points to touch on, the coleslaw on the side of the burger was minimal, and when it was pointed out to the waitress, she made an excuse that it was served up the night before and that's just how it was done, rather than make excuses I felt it should have just been replaced with an apology on behalf of the kitchen. Other than this the waitress was so helpful patient and understanding of our group including children who were getting restless after a while. Everyone else food was perfect and they couldn't do enough for us. The ambience of the restaurant was lovely too. Wide variety of food choices overall very satisfied and would come back again

Awful. Booked a table online. Completely ignored on arrival when we waited by the Please Wait Here desk. Stood for about 5 minutes to wait to be seated. Still Ignored by several staff a few feet away who looked over at us several times but never acknowledged us or apologised for delay or came over. Eventually found a table ourselves outside the restaurant. Went back in a few times to say we’re here but still ignored. Ordered drinks via the barcode on table. Took 40 mins to arrive. Had to go inside the restaurant to ask for them. Waited 2 hours for food after asking several times when it was coming. Staff were completely disinterested except one young lad who was bringing the food out. He kindly took our table number to check for us and food arrived shortly afterwards. Overheard other people coming out for a cigarette - complaining about waiting so long for Food and drink orders. Should have checked the online reviews about the diabolical wait times. Staff don’t care. Wait times is too long. Food was decent when it eventually arrived. What a shame!

Sunday roast was cold. Beef was tough. Potatoes, veg wasn't fresh. Very disappointed. Table next to us got up and left. Didn't pat as they was so disappointed and disgusted. Their food was microwaved again and rock hard

Arrived 11.50 Sunday and was told the kitchen wouldn't open till 12! No problem, ordered our drinks and meal from a very helpful waitress and received it at 12.10 COLD! How is that possible? So sent it back, only to reappear some minutes later... My Horseradish sauce had split and my wife's Cranberry sause was bubbling!!! Clearly " Nuked" previously cooked prior days food... To add insult to injury, the manager offered to have our meal replaced with a fresh one!!! Do not waste your money... go to McDonald's for a better meal!

Booked an outside table online. When I arrived all the tables were full as it was a hot day. I asked how I would get my table and assistant said she would have to speak to the manager. As not to bother, we sat indoors however I feel if you have taken the time to reserve an outdoor table, it should be reserved not a manager going up to a random full table and asking them to move. That could cause problems if they've had a drink. Food was served. No napkins or condiments given. We had to get that ourselves. Kebab meal was delicious. Fish and chips were delicious. Vegetarian burger very very bland. Just a burger and a bun. Portion size average to mean. Very nice atmosphere. Lovely staff didn't wait long to get served and it's an excellent ambience. All in all I will go back regularly. I am only nitpicking because the survey asked. It's a great place but can we have more relish in our veggie burger please 😋🤣🤣🤣

Visited today for mums bday. Booked garden seating and was told sit where you like and order with qr code. I couldnt order with my phone so had to ask to order at bar. They dont offer you a menu when heading to a table. Waiter wondering around with food as they have no idea of table numbers. No cutlery supplied. Went on hunt for condiments and cutlery and nothing there. Had to ask for s&p, napkins etc and wated 5 mins. Hunters chicken for mum was dry with minute amount of sauce and so called mixed salad accompaniment was a few limp pieces of lettuce. My fish an chips came with very over cooked garden peas, no tartare sauce only saving grace was the fish was pleasant. Have to say service or lack of it was shocking and non existent. Also when i did try to use the qr code you are charged £3 to use your own card while ordering yourself. Not impressed and wont be visiting again.

We had a less than great meal last night for my pre-60th birthday meal. Upon arrival waited a while before anyone ambled over to seat us - we had a table booked for 4, he never took the name for the booking just sat us in the restaurant, walked off muttering someone would be over so we sat and waited only to then have one of our friends walk over from another part of the restaurant as they’d been seated separately so we then got up and joined them! Waited 20 mins before waitress came over took drinks order and we ordered a bowl of olives .. drinks arrived but olives 25 mins later! Another long wait for food order - starters came out pretty quickly but main course took ages and when it arrived the steak had obviously been sitting under a heat lamp for ages as it was like shoe leather. Chicken kebab, chips plus tomato and mushroom were cold. They replaced the chips with a fresh bowl and I was told “these are straight from fryer” sorry but if these were why weren’t the ones from my original al dinner ? Couldn’t eat chicken or the steak and picked at a few chips from husbands plate. Manager came over and said he’d sort out the bill and he comped £35 off it however the bill was still £98 - which I was shocked at. If you are brave enough to visit, ask for a table away from the window leading onto the patio/garden area as we had kids running/screaming and banging on the fire exit door to try and get in plus you get smell of smoke the whole time….like I said not great

We have been visiting the Star at sicup place ocasionaly over the last 12 years. But unfortunately this place never seem to have a good solid or efficient management team. Food on our opinion used to be below par, advertising as a rotisserie and falling big time on that in particular(not tried food on this occasion). Beer garden, table service always slow, inefficient and not pleasant for customers. We have returned yesterday after a long period and found signs of improvement. Very young team but understand it's a work in progress. Manager was present supporting the busy bar, etc and pleasant to talk too. Wish them all the best and hope he can form a solid team with customer satisfaction and hard work is at top of agenda.

The only reason I gave 4 star (rather than 5), was that the gluten free menu offered a vege burger that turned out not to be gluten free! Other than that...our meals were delicious, the surroundings lovely, parking was easy (and free), and our waitress was a delight! Thank you!

The Manager was very friendly and helpful. Our food was of good quality with good portion size and nicely cooked, although my wife's Ribeye steak could have been rested a bit longer as it was quite tough. The two staff, covering the restaurant, were extremely efficient and friendly. A special thank you to Ryan, who is a great ambassador for your company. He is very friendly, efficient and knows the menu very well.

We booked the place for a group of 22 including kids. The Star staff made sure we get our own area. The service was quick and courteous. It was a lovely evening.

We were overcharged on the bill for drinks, We waited at the desk to be seated for ages before anyone came to seat us, then we were told there would be a long waiting time for our service as they were short staffed. At 9.:30 we left having given up on our desserts. In 2 hours we had one round of drinks and a main course. That was my birthday spoiled, thank you 😭😭😭😭

Had the misfortune to visit yesterday, no staff and the ones that were there were rude, slow and quite frankly useless, I waited at the bar for 25 minutes while the 2 staff that were there had no idea who was next in line so they just served who they liked, wondered off and had absolutely no communication what so ever, I did eventually get served and when I mentioned how long I had waited the puny little runt behind the bar called me a liar ! He was very very lucky I'm a gentleman, will not be returning not even for a wake as that's about all this place is good for.

We haven't been to the star since covid. What a pleasant change, lovely food very good staff team excellent value for money. We were a family of 6 for sunday dinner, booked on line very easy. Our team person was Allyce - Mae, very professional and we were allowed to change some items, she thanked us as we left and hoped to see us again which was a lovely touch. Thank you

Birthday meal for my daughter, 6 people in our party. Greeted by Ryan who was simply lovely, he kept checking on us and making sure we were having a great meal. Ryan also was creative with the birthday cake I had brought (chocolate squares spelling Happy Birthday) he had laid it beautifully on a wooden board with the candles lit. Such a beautiful presentation. Grace attended the table and was equally lovely. The food was excellent and the drinks were delivered quickly. We had a fabulous celebration and this was enhanced by the professional and kind service. Highly recommend this restaurant, well worth a visit especially with the extensive menu. Thank you for making our vidit so special. Ryan is a great ambassador for the company.

The food was incredible. The Lasagne was so tasty we was told we was we would not be disappointed and they were right we wasn't. The staff are lovely and friendly and the place is beautifully decorated, also to top it off the food was reasonably priced. Would definitely go back and would recommend to anyone.

Food was beautiful although service was pretty slow with drinks but overall beautiful building great history in a lovely spot I would definitely come back I recommend the 3 course lunch menu prawns where lovely I would say not too fishy if you know what I mean the history in this building is amazing and loads to see around the picture s on the wall

It is always a joy to go into the star. Service is great, and food has always been good and comes out prompt. Marilyn

I ordered chicken from the specials menu to find it wasn't available the waitress recommended the lamb shank at over £20, the whole meal was lukewarm and it was quite small. My brother had the pie, dry pastry and little filling.

We hosted our daughter’s 1st Birthday party in the Star’s private function room (a beautiful room). Elle did a fantastic job and ensured that the day ran smoothly! I had a lot of specific asks and requests and Elle did a great job in fulfilling them. Communication from booking to the event itself was great. On the day Elle pre-empted all our needs, the chef was great, food was lovely and the service from the staff was very friendly. We will definitely be back for the next big celebration!
