We stopped by in the morning for a sausage, bacon and egg roll and mocha. We sat outside as it was a but tight indoors for more than a couple of people. The food was decent. A nice runny egg and tasty sausage and bacon. Well-filled as well. The mocha was ok. Not the best I've had but passable on a cold day to wash down the roll. Not a bad little place where I'd happily go again for the breakfast roll.

No volveré

Full English Breakfast with a veggie option for £5. Couldn't be beaten for value or taste. Everything was delicious, the staff were very friendly pleasant young people who couldn't be more helpful without being intrusive. Observed them managing a wide variety of requests all with a smile. Dog friendly too and they do takeaway food for that long walk you have planned after breakfast. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Made the mistake of visiting this cafe with my family really overpriced and rude staff member, I assume it was the manager who took my wife's order which included beans on toast for my 2yr old which did not come with our meals so I politely asked when it was due, the response and attitude was really poor she first accused my wife of not ordering it then rather than apologise for her mistake just rudely stated well you will need to pay for it with not the slightest hint of manners, at least the younger of the two blond staff members has the respect to say sorry even though it was not her mistake.

We were looking for something homemade but not too pricey as many of the cafes are in Keswick. We landed here right in the middle of the square and we weren’t disappointed. Only downside was the jam didn’t really taste of anything (and the scone was plain) so the scone wasn’t fruity at all really but the soups we had were lovely, milkshakes and sandwiches. Thanks for a nice, relaxed lunch 👍🏻 They don’t accept card but there is a sign saying this and there is an ATM about 20seconds away. They also don’t have WiFi - which is a rare treat in a cafe these days.

Went here for a Sunday brunch with friends-have been going for many years and its always been good, but recently changed hands so wanted to try it. Well, never again. We ordered 4 breakfasts and a sandwich for our friends child and 3 out of the 4 orders were wrong. When we questioned this we were told that was what we had ordered-and not in a nice way either! I was so embarrassed for my friends to be treated this way in my home town. I have since learnt that some staff have also left because of the attitude of the owner.

We visited Keswick recently, and while very hungry St Mungos looked to be the only place in near vicinity with a few free seats, so we grabbed a table and sat down. However, even this was an issue as the three four seater tables available were all taken, and the tables had signs on specifically asking not to move tables and seats, so we sat in two groups of two. We ordered (St Mungos still doesn’t take card), but one of our orders had to be changed as just past midday there were no jacket potatoes (one of the three broad choices) left. Two of the choices were now full English breakfasts and a veggie breakfast. The veggie breakfast while offered was sub par, the sausages were cold and completely under cooked. The English breakfast didn’t look much better, comparing to something you might expect to see in a US trucker tv program. Only one of the breakfasts came with butter for the toast, and when we asked for butter, the waiter moved along and then stood talking to some friends for 10 minutes. Overall, a pretty subpar time, we probably wouldn’t go back.

Just passing through Keswick we decided to grab a quick bite and a coffee. St Mungos was one of the last places we walked past but a combination of outdoor seating and a great sounding menu enticed us in. It didn't disappoint. We ordered panini's and lattes which were quickly made and brought out to us under the canopy where we watched the bustling afternoon shoppers. The coffee was very nice and the food was just enough and included a garnish of salted crisps. It's hard to go wrong in a place like Keswick but it's very rare we go out of our way and end up having good conversation with a staff member who seemed pleased to have us in. The only Thing that knocks the final star off my rating is a lack of card facilities. I understand why not every local business can have them but the saving grace is that there was a cash point at the bank over the street. Other than that I would be prepared to go back and try some of the menu again.

We have just popped in to get some takeaway sandwiches. We orderedand the server rudely said “We only take cash!” no problem just no need to be rude! We were told how long it would be and my husband and child sat inside, whilst we waited outside. My husband noted that it seemed quite expensive and low and behold when it came out it was on a plate (with no salad etc as usual so why so much extra for a plate?) so he said “Sorry it was takeout and I think we need a refund please” Her reply “Well if you say so... you clearly didn’t” despite the slip saying TO on the back.

Having read the reviews for this cafe first, my opinion is that it is a ''regulars'' cafe and there is a lot of noisy banter going back and to.....it doesn't seem to be rude, but it is noisy and if you're not used to this type of place.....I suppose it could make you feel uncomfortable. Having said that, we sat down to two breakfasts and drinks and enjoyed it.....just one point though, the door was left open for the duration and it was quite nippy. Absolutely disgusted with the service I received. It was raining and we were sitting outside with our dogs. I have a very skinny rescue greyhound that cannot lie on hard surfaces. There were blankets outside so I put one on the floor for my dog thinking that's what they were for with Keswick being so dog friendly. Only to be rudely spoken to by a blonde member of staff clearly the owner. She asked me not to let my dogs lie on the blankets so I apologised and got them off for her to carry on 'shouting' at me in public humiliating my infront of everyone after I had paid for my meal. Then for her to go inside and slag me off even more and very loudly to another member of staff. So I confronted her asking for my money back as I couldn't possibly eat it after been so humiliated infront of everyone. To which she started to get aggressive and threatening telling me to leave and never come back and I wasn't getting a penny back. Then I come on to look at the reviews and it looks like it is a regular occurance for the lady. Clearly shouldn't be allowed around customers. I understand I was in the wrong for the blankets but there are better ways of showing this. Terrible customer service!!!

The cafe looked empty outside and as the surrounding cafes were all heaving we thought we were lucky to be able to grab two tables outside for our party of five. We approached the tables and decided to slightly move them together so we could all sit together. Now we know exactly why the cafe was empty ..... As soon as we went to move them a young blonde girl came storming out of the cafe shouting at us "do NOT move the tables". We responded in shock asking why we couldn't put them together as we were in a party of five and would mean us being separated from the young children. Without answering she shouted yet again DO NOT MOVE THE TABLES. ITS OUR POLICY THEY COLLAPSE! As a regular visitor to Keswick I couldn't believe how awful this member of staff shouted at us. Lovely sunny day. Been here before and it's been fine but today! My partner ordered a bacon, sausage and egg roll and I ordered a prawn mayo sandwich. Order numbers 35 and 36. My partner's came first, number 36. The white of the egg was clear and runny. I asked for it to be cooked properly. It came back with what looked like an omelette on. I asked for a cooked white and runny yolk. Off it went again. And we waited.... nuber 47, 48 where was my number 35??? Sandwich came back.. white clear and runny again! And still no sign of my prawn sandwich. We gave up, got a refund and left.

It was s lovely June morning do we came here for s full English before heading home after our holiday. It was great to sit outside and watch the world go by. The full English was very good and the kids shared a pancake stack with blueberries, crispy bacon and maple syrup . The coffee was very good and we got our food pretty quick. Will come back here.

Called in for a coffee whilst walking around the Saturday market. It was very busy. Coffee wasn't anything to write home about. Sandwiches looked nice. Would I go again ? Probably not.

A busy little restaurant booking recommend in busy times as you may not get in . The food arrived quite quickly which was cooked well with great flavours and the price was very reasonable

Truly surprised to see so many negative reviews. We visited on Friday afternoon, it was a warm day, we managed to get a seat and people watch over the square. We were told that it would be a bit of a wait for food because they were short staffed and I'm sure the poor guy in the kitchen was stressed but there was a nice relaxed feel! The food was good, I had a vege breakfast and my partner the pancakes. It didn't seem like we'd waited too long! There was even a chap who came out and gave every dog a gravy bone so happy customers all round on our front! If we didn't live 5 hours away we'd certainly visit again, don't let the negative reviews put you off!

Visited 11th April sat inside observed astonishing rudeness from dark haired small woman working there. Four Chinese tourists paid about £16 and sat on two tables. These tables are small and fit for two only. Said Staff member told two to go sit with their friends with the comment if you aren't eating you can't have own table. She did not have the courtesy to bother asking if they were indeed eating and it transpired they were and forced to sit around a small table. The place had spare seats so no reason to be confrontational. Her rudeness was terrible. She even gave out sly smirks when the ordering took place presumably due to language barrierI told her on leaving her rude manner was not acceptable. She simply said that's fine I don't care what you thinkNot a great selling point for keswicks tourism and I note her rudeness has been raised in other ratings on here. At least she is consistentI assume she owns the cafe otherwise she'd have been sacked a long time agoDONT GO THERE

My wife and I (!) went for a couple of nights in Borrowdale first stopping off in Keswick for lunch - a little late at 1325. Found St Mungo's and wasn't dissapointed, our orders were taken by 'sofrly spoken' Sandra - we shared a soup which was delicious and then had sandwiches with salad - fresh again extremely good. Not many people in as busy lunch period had gone but Ken 'the local' was in and we had a good conversation with him about the area and how the local economy had been effected by the the recent floods - it's bad with the effects expected to be felt for some time. Both Sandra and Ken were a delight and whilst there is still damage being repaired THE AREA IS STILL OPEN and the people extremely hospitable.St Mungo's is not a place to be missed - will be there when we next visit the area.

Went in two days running to get food to take on walks around the area with. Found the food to be amazing (we'd recommend the ham, swiss cheese and mustard baguette) and really nice quick service on a quiet morning. The staff were really friendly and the baguettes were freshly made in just a few minutes.

Living local we pop into Keswick on regular basis for breakfast. Decided we would try St Mungo's. We ordered two breakfasts and two coffees. The person who took the order advised it would take 15 minutes. Not a problem I said as we took our coffees outside. 35 minutes waiting and still no breakfasts. As we were on a deadline I went inside to ask where they were. No apology was given or am indcation of when they would arrive. Another customer was also complaining. We received a refund then were called rude for complaining. Give it amisswent in to

We were in dire need of a good coffee when we saw an empty outside table at this small gem. There was a nice ambience about the place, the staff are friendly and helpful and most importantly the coffee was great. I would recommend this as a little gem on Main st.

5 of us met up here, as walk in, They found us a table, It was clean, staff friendly, we ordered the food arrived with in reasonable time fresh and hot. Menu choice very good, portion sizes very good cooked well. Prices reasonable. Staff helpful and cheery. Had read a couple of bad reviews but then often there are those that look for issues. Will be back.

Amazing find! Ate here last night after staying in Rosthwaite and having limited options as we had not booked anywhere in advance. We were greater by really friendly staff, a cosy informal atmosphere and a great menu. I am usually a bit dubious about pub fish and chippy, usually preferring to go to an actual chippy, but WOW! They were amazing! We were both really impressed. Great portions after a day walking in Borrowdale and so so tasty. Good range of beers on tap too.

This is a pretty average establishment and looks better from the outside than in . Bit busy and noisy on our visit and food basic . Service good however and if you want a cuppa and cake it’s probably worth a try

Have visited this cafe previously and had no complaints and had a good experience. Unfortunately when we visited today it was disappointing. We both had the Sunday Roast dinner we have had before on other occasions but this time it was lukewarm even the gravy and it was not enjoyable. The roast potato was watery and looked insipid, the mash potato watery and lumpy. The peas served were out of a tin and the meat which was turkey was cold. The person who served us at the till was not engaging and since we paid £27.45 for the two dinners I feel it was poor value and would be reluctant to go again.
