Costa Coffee in Allerdale

Called into this Costa late morning on Saturday for a coffee as a party of four. The coffee was nice enough and my Dad seemed to enjoy his chocolate orange muffin but nothing to write home about, especially for the prices charged. The tables need to be cleared quicker, as people were coming and looking for somewhere to sit but rubbish etc. still on tables. My wife's cup was also not clean, I took this back to the counter and it was replaced quickly but that's not the point really........

Service is very shocking, no communication between the staff. One staff member instead of doing her job would rather chit chat woth one of the customers, while others wait. First off all the coffee was very milky and lukewarm warm (watched the coffee maker drop the cup of coffee on the ground and poured into the cup what was left and topped it up with milk). Instead of reading the order she made the 1 cup thinking that was it, has to remind her it was 2 cups… then had to also remind her that there was also a cake on the receipt. Wasn't expecting to have to tell my order again, when the receipt was right in front of her. Even having to ask for a cup holder, didnt even think to give me a bag to carry everything.

Popped in yesterday for coffee and a cake 2 lovely guys on the till..who advised me how to use the costa wifi.as mine took forever to download.lovely coffee and muffins never disappoint

Love a Costa coffee, friendly staff at the Keswick branch but coffee wasn’t as hot as usual.

UPDATE - STILL THE SAME 😱 The coffee was luke warm. The exterior and interior needs painting. Very run down. Very slow to get served. One serving and making drinks and food and a very large queue.

Very very slow service given it was quiet. Oblivious to customers and allowed a local they knew by name to be served before my friend despite her being in front of the male member of staff at the till (so he clearly knew she was there). We were sat next to a family who also werent local, a female member of staff was arguing with this family across the store very unprofessionally, really ruined the experience honestly. Wont be visiting again, staff clearly dont want to be there and have no issues showing their true colours if you resemble a tourist

To start with the group of people I went in with had a member who was diabetic - we came in with food from another shop and placed it on the table, straight away before we even sat down a member of staff (Tracey) came straight out the back and told us we couldn’t eat that in there - not at one point as we placed our food down did anyone open the food (baring in mind someone with us in diabetic and had low blood sugar at this point) we DID buy coffees from the Costa and were not just sat in there. When we sat down the member of staff came out from the back again and was so arrogant and rude and VERY argumentative - telling us we need to put the food away or leave. Not once did she stop to let us explain about the diabetes. She was shouting back across the store very unprofessionally saying that isn’t how things are done around here. She very clearly loved the show and attention she was drawing to herself as she carried on loud enough for the whole store to hear. One member of staff at the counter (a male didn’t catch his name) also just looked like he couldn’t be bother being there and was abrupt when we ordered. Very disappointed in this experience we had here as we were visiting from elsewhere. Nothing would make me ever visit this Costa again with there disgusting customer service skills - staff clearly need training in basic manners.

The WiFi is useless... persistant problems... prevented me earning beans, claiming a food reward and spending beans. Not sure how the lovely staff continue to cope with the problem and with complaining customers. IT NEEDS TO IMPROVE the WiFi!

Great staff very helpful. Needed them to charge my battery pack as I was solo traveling and they were more than helpful very polite and will be returning there for my morning coffees next trip :)

We like Costa coffee and go 2 or 3 times a week, both at home and in various parts of the country and they have always been a bright, cheary and nice places to visit. As always there is always an exception to the rule and this is Costa's. The actual shop is dull, dowdy and in serious need of some TLC. It was like being on the moon, there was absolutely no atmosphere there. It was very clear the 2 members of staff working did not want to be there. There was no welcome, no interaction with customers, they didn't even talk to each other. The service was painful slow and they are in serious need of customer service training. The only positive thing I can say is the actual coffee was as good as ever.

To hot in there there's was not any air conditioning so was not the best place to sit and have a coffee

Quick, friendly service. Always very helpful. Good stock of meals and desserts. Tables cleared quickly.

Lovely staff, 2 girls run off their feet, but lovely throughout, younger lady who's name I couldn't read off her badge 😀 was barista & apologised to all for their wait whilst other lady -(pink hair) flew around clearing tables ! Could do with more staff, understand issues hiring though.

Not busy when we went but just like other Costa shops

Great service with a nice large hot chocolate for youngest daughter and an ice cold Ironbru for Dad.

We always go to Keswick Costa when we have a day out. We went early about 9am and Tracy was working alone with huge queue and a chilled delivery waiting to be put away! Tracy was doing a fantastic job she is a real asset to your company, however working alone is not acceptable in 2024! It’s unfair and puts to much pressure on your staff and they are unable to complete there tasks especially when chilled food is waiting to be refrigerated ! And tables need to be cleared please think about the bigger picture and not just sales figures. Tracy you are a STAR 🌟

Very very slow service given it was quiet. Others chatting in the back while people waiting to be served. Oblivious to customers and rude to a customer who hadn’t joined the queue properly. Again if customer aware incident wouldn’t have happened. Very poor checking my order 3 times before she got it correct . Don’t go if it’s busy

Stopped off for coffee and cake while out shopping very nice. Will call in again.

Coffee and cake as per usual Costa standard, pleasantly enjoyed. Tables were dirty and it was not busy. The Barista was very rude at the counter. I gad just downloaded the Costa app to my phone so I could use it with my order and I was trying to work out how to use it. The Barista shouted at me twice “ what do you want, do you want something” to get my attention. She didn’t smile or say “excuse me” and I felt I had to apologise. She forgot to put knives and spoon on our tray as well so I had to ask for them - not a massive issue, except that she had just been rude. I was also the only customer at the counter so it isn’t like she was under any pressure to serve quickly. I wouldn’t come back - especially as there are plenty of other really good tea rooms in Keswick.

Dark, dingy, and uninviting. I didn't think it was actually open from the outside as it was so dark inside. Service was slow and unfriendly, too. Seems like this place has been forgotten about and in desperate need of modernising.

Dirty tables. disinterested, unhelpful staff. Shame as a dreadful advert for the brand. Lots of competition in town. This place is the worst by far.

I went to this shop a few days ago and was served by a red haired girl and a guy who's name badge said barista in training and had a really amazing experience, after such a good experience I returned with my friend again yesterday. I hoped Mr barista in train8ng and the same red haired girl would be on and I was fortunate that Mr barista in training was on duty but this time with either Isabella/ Bella , for some reason Mr barista in training kept changing her name due to the fact he was rather busy and another chap called nate or Nat again Mr barista in training was busy. I did ask what his name was and the red haired girls names was, he said he was William and the red haired girl is Tracy aka the boss lady. I just wanted to say you were all fantastic and provided the best service I have seen in years over my past couple of visits, your staff have convertedme in to a costa fan. William if you can run a shift this well in training I hope to see you running them more often. William pointed out he as only been there just over a month and the service is only that good because all the staff do their bit and help each other. Tracy well done on having a brilliant customer focused team.

travelling through - stopped coffee was very nice and staff were friendly and quick to serve- all in all a good visit

Always go in every morning when we are here for the week, Tracy is an asset to the business always pleasant and very hard working and always makes a nice hot latte even today when she was in alone she was still smiling

Lovely staff, & great free 'birthday ' salted toffee popcorn brownie. Coffee wasn't very hot otherwise fine.

Hidden up the side street was much quieter than the main market area, toilet and a good standard of Coffee and cake

Keswick Costa coffee shop is lovely and friendly occasionally I have to wait a little because it's so popular but that's the price you pay for good coffee on my last visit I was a little bit disappointed with a member of staff she had a little bit of an attitude problem a foreign lady I know it's been quite warm maybe it was the weather that was affecting her

We visited this costa, to get out the rain, the staff were very helpful with the vouchers I wanted to use,polite customer service,clean and tidy, the toilets were also clean and tidy. Would recommend to anyone who just wants a decent cuppa

Unbelievable 30 minutes to wait for 2 coffees, the 2 staff were so slow, i appreciate it's not easy to make coffee quickly but 30 minutes.

20 minutes waiting ore more and to find out they don't have the things to make my drink, slow staff ever seen on my life got served at 12:38 on 29/05/2023. And as you can see drink is not blended properly

Always call in when I arrive on my climbing trips and when I come down from the Fells.I am a regular visitor to Keswick and Ambleside to bag Wainwrights,I always climb or walk one on my trips to add to my total on this particular trip I climbed Dodd Crag which is named on OS 4 Map but is not a Wainwright,it was a tough cookie to climb as I saw no previous boot prints in the mud so I it was well enjoyed Mountain Mike Wilson.

Good coffee as usually love it!

First time weve been in this costa,after all of the years coming to keswick. The coffee and cake were lovely, but the staff were even better. 2young girls serving,and 2 young men sorting tables ,were polite and they never stopped working . So nice to see young people, working so well. No standing around chatting. Costa should be proud of the staff in this branch.. well done guys👍

Toilets absolutely disgusting so dirty, no toilet paper, floor wet, smell was terrible Will not be visiting again!!! Rather take my custom elsewhere

Love our local costa but visited this one while in keswick. The staff seemed very stressed tbf. But added cream to my drink 3 times despite me constantly repeating.i can't have cream . The staff seemed to think it was an annoyance which isn't great when it's a dietary requirement. Not sure I would visit again sadly.

So lovely to have such fast friendly and efficient service today at costa. Even though the cafe was busy the staff were obviously working flat out to keep the tables clean and cleared and get the orders out. Well done

For nearly two weeks now the dish washer in this Costa Coffee has been broken, so it’s paper cups only. Not good enough!! Very good staff let down by poor upper management organisation. Get it fixed!!

Lovely coffee, well made which isn't always the case in Costa, only one toilet is use which was a bit of an issue as there was so many people waiting.

The staff here work extremely hard dealing with locals and tourists. I visit approximately every 2 weeks sometimes to sit in other times I take away. Every time I am greeted warmly and Rebecca remembers my order which is a lovely personal touch. Rebecca is very good at her job and should be commended for keeping the place ticking over when at times is extremely busy.I’ve noticed lately there are a lot of new staff, working in a busy environment this must be very difficult for them to learn the fast paced job but they are always friendly and polite. People need to have a bit of patience and show respect to the staff who still put on a smile and turn up to serve certain customers who are never happy!

Costa is Costa but Lauren in this branch was a total star today. She kept the queue moving when it was really busy. I couldn’t get in the app to claim my rewards and she let me piggy back on her phone Wi-Fi as the cafe Wi-Fi didn’t work. If she’s not the boss she should be. Only lost a point as not dog friendly.

Great service, clean tables and well staffed. However one member of staff kept speed walking through the cafe tidying up and talking to people at the top of her voice including taking a call on her mobile while walking through the cafe. Call was obviously...

the staff were extremely rude and dismissive, looked angry to do their job and we actually heard the tall white male say “these lot are annoying me”, who appeared to be the manager. We will not be coming here again due to the staff’s attitude...

A good little costa in Keswick. The lady behind the counter was being trained by another lady and they were rushed off their feet but were more than capable of dealing with the busy periods! Upon leaving we gave the lady our tray of empty...

Good cup of coffee. The berry infusion is also good. Make the most of it as it is only a summer drink.

Absolutely worst Costa I've been to! Very slow service, had to repeat my order few times and they still got it all wrong. If you want a quick breakfast, avoid this place.

The slowest Costa I have ever been in. Twenty two minutes between joining the queue and actually getting our coffee. Appallingly slow and never going back.

I ordered twice. Both times, Claudia gave me different drinks than ordered. The first time, she confirmed I ordered 5 drinks but was only given 4, the other, I ordered drink for eating-in, however, she gave me it in a take-away cup.

It's Costa so you know what you're getting with the coffee and the menu but the shop itself is a quaint place tucked away in one of the many, cosy side streets in Keswick. Definitely worth a visit.

The interior design and layout of the Costa Coffee branch in Keswick is a tad uninspiring and almost corridor-like but, to be fair, they have done a good job with the smart, almost retro furnishing. As expected, the service and coffees were all up to...

I love coming here with my mum. The drinks are delicious and the staff are really friendly and kind.

Friendly team, helpful with people who have mobility problems such as myself. Nathaniel brought my coffee outside & checked all was ok. Really helpful friendly person.

Unfortunately, the dishwasher was not functioning, so had to have takeout cups. Not a problem. Still the best coffee.

Surly staff who work at a snails pace. Only use if desperate for a coffee.

Always busy when we visit but staff are very efficient so we never wait long for a drink.

Understaffed without a doubt. Taking orders when already a large queue. Making hot food that was then stood on a tray as the hot drinks were not ready. Not impressed at all. At least the table was clean when we eventually got our drinks!!!!

Worst Costa I’ve ever visited. Soooo slow at serving, despite having plenty of staff and hardly any customer (I can see why!). One staff members job appears to be telling you to stand on the spots on the floor, which are way over 2 metres...
