Costa Coffee in Allerdale

Dirty tables. disinterested, unhelpful staff. Shame as a dreadful advert for the brand. Lots of competition in town. This place is the worst by far.

I went to this shop a few days ago and was served by a red haired girl and a guy who's name badge said barista in training and had a really amazing experience, after such a good experience I returned with my friend again yesterday. I hoped Mr barista in train8ng and the same red haired girl would be on and I was fortunate that Mr barista in training was on duty but this time with either Isabella/ Bella , for some reason Mr barista in training kept changing her name due to the fact he was rather busy and another chap called nate or Nat again Mr barista in training was busy. I did ask what his name was and the red haired girls names was, he said he was William and the red haired girl is Tracy aka the boss lady. I just wanted to say you were all fantastic and provided the best service I have seen in years over my past couple of visits, your staff have convertedme in to a costa fan. William if you can run a shift this well in training I hope to see you running them more often. William pointed out he as only been there just over a month and the service is only that good because all the staff do their bit and help each other. Tracy well done on having a brilliant customer focused team.

Always go in every morning when we are here for the week, Tracy is an asset to the business always pleasant and very hard working and always makes a nice hot latte even today when she was in alone she was still smiling

Lovely staff, & great free 'birthday ' salted toffee popcorn brownie. Coffee wasn't very hot otherwise fine.

Keswick Costa coffee shop is lovely and friendly occasionally I have to wait a little because it's so popular but that's the price you pay for good coffee on my last visit I was a little bit disappointed with a member of staff she had a little bit of an attitude problem a foreign lady I know it's been quite warm maybe it was the weather that was affecting her

We visited this costa, to get out the rain, the staff were very helpful with the vouchers I wanted to use,polite customer service,clean and tidy, the toilets were also clean and tidy. Would recommend to anyone who just wants a decent cuppa

20 minutes waiting ore more and to find out they don't have the things to make my drink, slow staff ever seen on my life got served at 12:38 on 29/05/2023. And as you can see drink is not blended properly

Always call in when I arrive on my climbing trips and when I come down from the Fells.I am a regular visitor to Keswick and Ambleside to bag Wainwrights,I always climb or walk one on my trips to add to my total on this particular trip I climbed Dodd Crag which is named on OS 4 Map but is not a Wainwright,it was a tough cookie to climb as I saw no previous boot prints in the mud so I it was well enjoyed Mountain Mike Wilson.

Toilets absolutely disgusting so dirty, no toilet paper, floor wet, smell was terrible Will not be visiting again!!! Rather take my custom elsewhere

me and my friends sat on a table near the toilets it reeked of eggy poor we had to move this made us all feel sick especially my friend lola my not happy costa at all

So lovely to have such fast friendly and efficient service today at costa. Even though the cafe was busy the staff were obviously working flat out to keep the tables clean and cleared and get the orders out. Well done

For nearly two weeks now the dish washer in this Costa Coffee has been broken, so it’s paper cups only. Not good enough!! Very good staff let down by poor upper management organisation. Get it fixed!!

The staff here work extremely hard dealing with locals and tourists. I visit approximately every 2 weeks sometimes to sit in other times I take away. Every time I am greeted warmly and Rebecca remembers my order which is a lovely personal touch. Rebecca is very good at her job and should be commended for keeping the place ticking over when at times is extremely busy.I’ve noticed lately there are a lot of new staff, working in a busy environment this must be very difficult for them to learn the fast paced job but they are always friendly and polite. People need to have a bit of patience and show respect to the staff who still put on a smile and turn up to serve certain customers who are never happy!

Costa is Costa but Lauren in this branch was a total star today. She kept the queue moving when it was really busy. I couldn’t get in the app to claim my rewards and she let me piggy back on her phone Wi-Fi as the cafe Wi-Fi didn’t work. If she’s not the boss she should be. Only lost a point as not dog friendly.

Great service, clean tables and well staffed. However one member of staff kept speed walking through the cafe tidying up and talking to people at the top of her voice including taking a call on her mobile while walking through the cafe. Call was obviously...

the staff were extremely rude and dismissive, looked angry to do their job and we actually heard the tall white male say “these lot are annoying me”, who appeared to be the manager. We will not be coming here again due to the staff’s attitude...

The interior design and layout of the Costa Coffee branch in Keswick is a tad uninspiring and almost corridor-like but, to be fair, they have done a good job with the smart, almost retro furnishing. As expected, the service and coffees were all up to...

Worst Costa I’ve ever visited. Soooo slow at serving, despite having plenty of staff and hardly any customer (I can see why!). One staff members job appears to be telling you to stand on the spots on the floor, which are way over 2 metres...

We visited this costa on fri 27th sept at 13.31pm , we qued 10 mins to get served but there was only 1 person in front of us, this was due to the staff talking to each other,the staff the blonde lady was so arrogant and rude I felt disgusted, I couldn't believe what I was hearing,we sat down ate our food, but noticed rather a lot of flys above our head on the lampshade , we told the blonde lady who replied " what do you want me to do about it" this was the level of arrogance we were up against, the shop felt grubby ,unclean , smelly, I strongly recommend you go to another coffee shop in keswick, which there is plenty,

Called in mid day sat. Good service efficient staff. Clean interior well kept nice seating area outside.

Had to run in here to get a round of lattes and I was not dissapointed. Got served 5 drinks in just a minute or so and was on my way. Perfect

Recibí un vale de regalo de mi sobrina para mi cumpleaños en junio pasado y lo encontré en mi bolso, así que decidimos pedir un café y un sándwich tostado para usarlo antes de que expirara. Casi expiramos esperando ser atendidos. Solo estaba en segundo lugar en la cola pero se estaba acumulando detrás de mí. Había dos mujeres sirviendo y recogiendo ollas sucias cuando podían, dejando solo una mujer para servir. Primero preparé mi té helado de durazno, luego la señora puso la tostada en la parrilla, luego estuvieron listas, así que las puso en mi bandeja y luego me quedé allí esperando y esperando, preguntándome dónde estaba el café con leche de mis maridos. A la gente que estaba detrás de mí en la cola les estaban dando sus bebidas, luego la señora me preguntó qué estaba esperando. Dije que estaba esperando un latte medio. Ella dijo oh sí, así que lo eres. Ninguna disculpa, de hecho me sentí incómodo parado allí con mi tostadora enfriándome. Pensé que mi marido debía preguntarse dónde estaban su comida y bebida.Finalmente, me dirigí a la mesa, con un café con leche en un vaso tan lleno, tuve que caminar muy lentamente para evitar derramarlo y un niño corrió frente a mí para que eso no ayudara. Mi marido podría haberlo hecho mejor en casa. Mi té helado de melocotón era como la calabaza, absolutamente sin sabor del té.Si hubiera pagado el precio completo por esto y no hubiera tenido un cupón de regalo, no me habría impresionado, no, lo siento, no me impresionó de todos modos.¿Por qué alguien iría a Costa cuando hay muchas otras cafeterías encantadoras en Keswick? ¡Ciertamente no volveré a hacerlo!

First time in Costa at Keswick. Friendly staff, quickly served and clean. Seating outside and plenty of seats inside.

Wir hatten dort unseren Nachmittags Kaffee, nachdem wir erst die Stadt besichtigten. Zu Keswick werde ich noch eine separate Bewertung schreiben.Das Café liegt mitten in der Stadt. Uns fiel auf, dass das Café sehr Sauber war. Wir hatten einmal Coffee Americano und Coffee Latte, welche uns sehr gut schmeckten. Dazu aßen wir noch Chocolate Tiffin. Was ebenfalls sehr lecker war.Für Keswick ist es ein relativ großes Café. Bei unserem Besuch war es nicht so überfüllt, was wir gut fanden. Die Bestellung am Schalter wurde zügig bearbeitet. Die Angestellte Dame war sehr freundlich.Das Café kann ich daher nur empfehlen.

Waited 20 minutes to get served., not the servers fault, there were only 2 staff on and they never stopped. Coffee was luke warm. My husband and I both used the toilets, and both of them were absolutely disgusting and filthy, both dryers did not work. Cost coffee has slowly gone downhill and I wont be visiting any of their shops again.

The service we received here was probably the worst we have ever experienced in a Costa restaurant. Our coffee wasn’t made the way we asked for it. When it was remade it was left dripping into the saucer and all down the cup. When my husband said he couldn’t accept it the barista said why what’s wrong with it in a very abrupt manner. Our coffee was remade three times by which time we had eaten our toast and bacon roll. No apologies were given. There were plenty staff about but they were all carrying on behind the counter. It was hard to find a table without piles of cups etc on it. Shocking service.

Absolutely amazing cooked to perfection have stayed here 3 years ago and still magnificent. Change of staff but well organised helpful friendly wonderful service

I frequently visit Costa establishments all over the place. This particular establishment had good humoured efficient staff who engaged well with customers. Costa being a chain does offer consistency and the one in Keswick is a good example for others to follow.

Coffee not very hot so didn't really enjoy, normally Costa is very good so maybe it was just a 'one off''

When visiting Costa you know what to expect. My partner and I called in twice last week on a visit to Keswick. The service was a little bit slow as the assistant was working on her own. Newspapers available.

They'd run out of tea! and hot chocolate! The staff were great but the overall score reflects the unfortunate series of events that saw a fairly prominent venue run out of some fairly standard staples. The venue has a great location though lacks the atmosphere of some close competition, however it was open at a time when others weren't. Otherwise standard Costa fare - muffins, tiffin, chocolate brownie all at around £2 a piece which compares favourably

Quite simply the slowest service we have ever experienced at a Costa. Just cannot understand why it is this way - very disappointing.

This must be the slowest, dirtiest smelliest Costa coffee shop in the UK. With no exaggeration whatsoever take it from me if the QUEUE is level with the alleyway to the alleyway to the toilet area next to the small 2 seater table which I was sat on them you are looking at 35-45 mins to get your Bru. Trust me I times myself and others. We sat at this table and apart from the waiting time when we finally sat down all we could smell was strong pee emanating from the toilets. Sadly my other half was desperate to go for a leak and came back is disgust. You will need some Wellington boots for the amount of pee on the floor!!!! It was swimming. As we was sat at the table nearest he toilet not only did we see people leaving the queue but also walking straight in and out due to the pee smell. The brus are made in a tiny little corner with stag crammed in and under each other feet with nowhere to go. Sadly this will need a restructure for this to improve. The layout is incorrect. The coffee was cold and bland due to how slow and busy it was. Try it at your peril.

This is a good facility with plenty of space and well set out tables. We found the cafe and the toilets to be clean and tidy.

we (as well as all the other poor people there) waited 40 minutes to be served our drinks on Saturday, and to say they were below standard was an understatement too. I ordered the gingerbread latte . . . which I had to leave as it wasn't even drinkable . . . the place was bedlam, there was no structure whatsoever and it seemed nobody quite knew what they were doing to be honest. And the toilets well . . . I walked in and walked straight back out they were absolutely disgusting!!!! this is normally a good costs but needs sorting out asap

Always love Costa, but this one . The bad smell from the toilet instead aroma coffee when you open the door . Couldn’t stay for a cup , disappointed .

As a local we have loads of options for great coffee in Keswick however I always get good service and a nice cup of coffee. The manager is pretty new but still remembers my latte with an extra shot and coconut milk.

We were served quickly and promptly. Coffee was perfect and the cafe and toilets were clean and tidy.

Found this establishment on a cold day. Staff were accommodating and pleasant. Coffee was good especially the large latte in the two handled mug. Clean rest rooms. A welcome refreshing break before heading out to further explore the many market stalls.

Poor service worse coffee. Much better coffee in the cafes. Wish Keswick had a Starbucks this Costa sucks.

I’ve been coming g to this Costa whenever we’re on holiday in Keswick. Love this place! The staff are always friendly and welcoming. I’ve just been chatting to the manager about our Fell walk up Dollywagon Pike.

How is it when all your costa staff are trained the same Keswick is so poor? We have been in 4 times over the last fortnight for a salted caramel frostino and each time it was watery... we have had the above item at other costa s which were perfect Hexham, consett, Arniston center West Auckland retail park to name a few. Please retrain your Keswick staff and also learn them some manners

Called in for coffee and a cake, as an afternoon snack. Although Keswick was busy, Costa was quiet with lots of tables. It's just off the main street, so maybe the tourists don't spot it. Service and quality was exactly what to expect form a Costa Cafe

Called in against my better judgement for coffee with the family last Friday and it took 20 minutes to get served. @ staff on and hardly any queue. went to use the loo to fin that the disabled was out of use due to disgusting state it had been left in and the other loo had no paper or soap. Told the older lady working that there was no paper to which her response was to look at the few people waiting to be served and then say "AND"

staff were very nice on the day we called we sat out side the road is a bit close to the out side seating but it was a lovely hot day their is a lot of seating in side coffee and cake lovely

My wife and I visited for lunch during our holiday this month and there were two failures which for me, give an idea of how this place is run.

Not much to say really. Typical chain store coffee, a notch below Starbucks in my opinion, but fine if you want to get inside on a rainy or chilly day and have your caffeine hit.

You know what to expect in Costa - same good coffee but sometimes this is exceeded. All of the staff were really good and some were even better - glad to see people happy in their work.

First class service and best crest I've seen on a flat white. The young lady who served us was excellent, and the manager was also alert to everything. Efficient pleasant and alert to minor stain on cup which she immediately replaced. As good as it gets in Costa.

Keswick has many really good independent coffee shops all of them are better than Costa Coffee, No idea why anyone would go here rather than choosing an independent coffee shop.

Extremely disappointing! Dirty 😳 and the person serving, handling cash, stuck her fingers inside our cups not just once but three times to move them along counter. The loo seat was various shades of dark yellow, rusty orange and brown😳😳 we won’t be back

Great food and drinks. Staff polite and helpful. But those toilets!!! They honk, are unclean and the floor is soaking. Didnt want my son to touch anything! This really lets you down!!

On our visit, the alarm kept going off. The service was slow but the latte served nice and hot. Soya milk available for those with lactose intolerance.

This is one of the main places to have coffee. Though i am personally not a COSTA fan the service was polite and nice. and the sandwich i had was really nice.

A good quality light lunch and coffee... spacious seating area and staff are friendly. Clean and tidy.

Lost count of the number of Costa Coffees we have visited but this one is certainly nothing special. Not very clean, staff more interested in taking to each other than serving anyone and coffee that was questionable all ensured we didn´t bother to visit again during our stay. Not like there is a shortage of coffee places to start with...give this one a miss.

My wife and I visited here on 2/11/17 whilst on a visit to Keswick. We had been walking around the lake and were in need of refreshment so made for Costa. As with all Costa Coffee shops the staff were very friendly, efficient and courteous. The shop was very clean and we enjoyed our snack. The cakes etc are always so fresh. They do need however to pay attention to the toilets as they were not that clean. I appreciate that this can be difficult in a busy environment but this is an area that sets the standard for the rest of the business.

this location. fast, effective, efficient, reliable service and excellent customer service, what more can i say. Ah the products, must not forget that. Coffees, Teas and cakes, plus many savoury offerings again a very high standard. Many thanks for a trust worthy service that we can all rely on Nation wide. Most importantly, very clean, staff constantly monitoring for vacated tables to be cleared.

It's hard to come up with anything original about Costa so I'll just leave it with the comments that it's friendly and well run and just what you'd want from a Costa.

A typical Costa with good coffee and cakes. Not too busy yesterday, I managed to read The Times and enjoy my cappuchino. Good seating outside and pleasant service from the staff. One staff member came around with free pieces of muffin. Will use again when in The Lakes.

Plenty of staff and big enough to cope with a large influx of customers. A standard costa, nothing out of the ordinary here.

The service is horrendously slow! Waited a quarter of an hour to get our sandwiches. Also don't expect service with a smile here.. very miserable servers who didn't even apologise for the wait. Not impressed.

Just nipped into Vistas Keswick for an Americano now wish I hadn't even with extra shot it is weak and not pleasant.

A typical Costa Cafe and a delicious coffee, as ever. The staff were very courteous and polite and were very friendly. It did not feel too cramped like some Costa Cafes and so was a pleasant break.

There are some very good cafe's in Keswick, but majority are in small olde world premises, but when you have a baby in a pram it becomes as issue.

Had a lovely coffee and cake here today whilst out cycling.....lovely sat outside in the sun watching everyone pass by...whilst the staff were very busy all friendly and personable

Initially sat outside as there didn't seem to be any easy wheelchair access, however a very helpful staff member brought out a small ramp so's I could negotiate the steps at the door. Coffee was usual good standard.

Visited twice(!) in a couple of days. Large, spacious area with additional outdoor seating. Coffees are as you would expect, good. Staff friendly and the place was generally clean.

Quite a large Costa in an old building. Coffee great as always. Staff friendly. Establishment spotless, comfortable, and it's roomy enough to find a quiet corner.

Really good service and friendly staff. Tucked out the way of the main shopping area,this Costa always seem to have seating available. Service was fast and coffee was perfect. Tables had been cleared and were clean. All in all, a good experience.

Although loads of other coffee shops could not resist going in for a cappuccino, it was as good as ever, go to Costa frequently at home and it was just as good. It was busy but was served quickly and got a table easily. Fab.

We visit Costa regularly in our home town, and the surrounding areas usually for a quick coffee and bite during a hike with our dog. Our local Costa's allow dogs so we were surprised when the Manager in Keswick, the dog capital of the Lakes, said they did not allow dogs, however, if we kept ours under control we could stay and finish our purchase.

After loosing my purse on a trip to Keswick, (with my wedding rings inside) the fantastic staff managed to contact me and return it within a few days. Amazing people.

Quite a big Costa so was very busy but didn't have to queue long. You can sit outside which is always a bonus even if you are quite near the road. Coffe & cakes good as always.

I'm not a great fan of franchises, but at least you have some idea of what to expect when you visit one. The coffee and cakes were good, but the place isn't big enough - it's noisy ( the seating area is close to the coffee machine!) and tables weren't cleared and cleaned fast enough (we had to clear the table ourselves).
