Have visited this cafe previously and had no complaints and had a good experience. Unfortunately when we visited today it was disappointing. We both had the Sunday Roast dinner we have had before on other occasions but this time it was lukewarm even the gravy and it was not enjoyable. The roast potato was watery and looked insipid, the mash potato watery and lumpy. The peas served were out of a tin and the meat which was turkey was cold. The person who served us at the till was not engaging and since we paid £27.45 for the two dinners I feel it was poor value and would be reluctant to go again.

Well im not surprised it's closing down food was vile greasy spoon quality coffee undrinkable 10x refried chips regarding responce : so you buy the chips ready cooked?? And the coffee was undrinkable cos it was so strong !! Nice to see your not prepared to accept any responsibility.

Just a quick review about our visit this weekend. I was very much looking forward to eating here for the first time. The restaurant is lovely and very clean. Large menu to cater for all. On ordering there was 2 people in front of me and the lady in the till was speaking to another staff member and said with an attitude “more food orders again” and sighed. This is not the welcome guests should be getting. I almost questioned her actions but left it. I ordered the special which was a hunters chicken wrap. Firstly the bacon was burnt, cheese wasn’t melted and the worst, the chicken inside was goujons. Hunters chicken is breast of chicken. I did speak to the lady at the till and all she said was I’ll let the kitchen know. This place could be amazing if these little things were put right. Thanks

I visit this cafe on a regular basis. It's really upped it's game since the early days. I generally have the cheese and tuna melt. They're always well filled with lots of tune and cheese and very tasty. However on this occasion it was a different matter. My son and myself got the tuna ciabatta but there was hardly any filling. Virtually no tuna. I did show the sandwich to a member of staff who agreed there wasn't really any tuna. She apollogised and said a new cook was preparing the food. My only advice was, ask him to put some filling into the sandwiches. A dissapointing visit. Hopefully if the new guy continues preparing the food he'll stop being so tight with the portions.

I came to the Terrace cafe in the New Year with my daughter for lunch. There is plenty choice on the menu and the prices are reasonable. The cafe is light, airy and modern. You have to order at the counter but they bring the food to your table. The food was really nice. My daughter had kids picnic box which was supposed to come with ice cream, however it as never offered. To be fair she didn't actually want it anyway so I wasn't bothered but there was no indication as to how you'd get it as they never mentioned it at the counter. I guess you'd just have to ask.

First time visiting the Terrace good value for the money very nice cafe food was very nice and service with a smile 😃

Out of 6 meals 3 lots of chips were burnt reheated yesterday warmups.

Food was average and was £6:75 for the chips and eggs and was swimming in oil. The service was shocking. I’ve been in better greasy spoons. The latte was also disgusting as the milk was burnt. I won’t be back which is a shame because I like to support local companies.

Very nice cafe in Dixon's department store. The food and drinks here are excellent. I had a quiche with chips yesterday and you could taste the ham in the quiche, not just tasteless reformed ham, proper cooked good quality. The restaurant is very modern, very comfortable. It isn't cheap but it's good value. Only thing I think is sometimes the staff could be a bit more friendly. They never seem happy.

Queue to order, 20mins........then waited 34 minutes for food! would have helped to have been told of delay Baked potato ok, chilli rice cold,all day breakfast missing eggs and lasagne burnt. Process seemed inefficient and poor experience for us.

Went for breakfast today disappointed with service. Ordered a full English black pudding was missing, when we told the waitress she said it was on its way. 15mins later no black pudding, she kept looking over to our table too so I’m sure she was aware the black pudding hadn’t been received. For the price and service, I’d rather go to Wetherspoons.

Staff lovely, service great and pleasant surroundings, however, the scones we ordered were not good. Lovely sized scones but really dry and not light at all. Think they need to change their recipe.

We came here for lunch. They serve the general cafe fayre of sandwiches, toasties, jacket potatoes etc. You have to order at the counter but they bring your food to your table. The cafe is modern, light and airy. The food is ok and the prices are reasonable.

I agree with the many critisms levelled a year ago, but it is far better now. Order at the till, having decided where you want to sit, and everything is served. Service is reasonably quick and we enjoy good meals. We are now well known in both the shop and cafe. All the staff are friendly which makes our visits all the more enjoyable.

We often come for a snack, yesterday went for a meal...chicken curry was my choice. Not very nice, just snacks in the future! New staff need some training, teaching how to smile, say hello and great customer!

I ordered the lasagne and its the worst lasagne I've ever had the beef didn't have any flavour and it didn't have any sauce. It was dry and bland. The chips tasted like they had been cooked in old oil too. I will be sticking to their toasties if I ever try again! The staff are normally friendly but there was a new young girl that needs much more training as our drinks were literally pushed at us on a tray and our meals were just plonked on the table. Such a shame as we have used this place a lot but put off now

Went out for a catch up lunch , thought of a few places to visits but opted for the terrace , well that was a mistake , after being told where to sit , we then placed our order the waitress took this to the counter then came back and asked up to pay ( even befor the meal ) . Drinks came out , coffee was wet not hot , friendly had sweet chilli wrap with had a lack of chilli flavour . I had jacket with bacon Brie and cranberry, still haven’t found the cranberry and the tattie was ok . After we finished our food sat for 3/4 hr no staff asked if we were ok or wanted anything else , the staff huddle around the till must have been too important to bother about customers . Overall I’ve herd good comments about this but sadly won’t be back.

After a previous disappointing visit we thought we would give the benefit of the doubt and try again. This time unfortunately I can’t comment on the food as we were just ignored and left after not even being acknowledged for 25 minutes. This place is so busy in a fantastic location but could be so much better if the staff were organised and deployed in their own sections rather than trying to cover the whole area. Will not be giving it a third try.

My wife and i went to the Terrace Cafe to have a Sunday dinner, firstly we were sent to table 21 which was occupies and then to another table waited 20 minutes nobody came then a couple with a young baby sat down on the next table, within 5 minutes they were served, my wife and i looked at each other and said lets go and left. Now this is not the first time this has happened but the second time, we looked around while waiting and there were plenty of waitresses but did not seem to be able to coordinate, my advice would be to employ a restaurant manager to coordinate the waitresses.

Due to the very wet weather conditions today we decided to try this establishment again, rather than brave the dash across the car park to go home for lunch. The meal proved to be excellent both in terms of quality and quantity. Service was very friendly, if a trifle slow. If the scones have improved since our previous negative review, we will certainly be back.

Lovely place to have a bite to eat. The food is really tasty and piping hot, we had chicken curry and boiled rice, and quiche of the day salad and chips. A pot of tea and J20. The staff are helpful and friendly. Lots to choose from and cakes/ scones look divine. Lovely layout and comfortable chairs/seats with cushions if required. Lovely little terrace to eat.Highly recommended. We will come again.

Whilst eating my Sunday lunch, I was very surprised to find that the roast potatoes were partly frozen in the middle. My wife had the same issue. I made a complaint and was told they were prepared/cooked the day before. We received replacements. I honestly thought everything was freshly cooked on the day at The Terrace cafe, which until this occasion, I couldn't fault. It's now made we wonder, what else is cooked from frozen? Sadly, it's put me off going back there.

Takes a while to get your order in (because they are so busy) but well worth the wait and good value

I came here after a long 4 hour drive due to work, the place looked lovely so I thought I’d try it out. the girls at the till were extremely rude and would not even allow me to have a table and I felt personally attacked due to the colour of my skin. Never have I ever been made to feel so uncomfortable

Went here with my 8yr old daughter and her friend during play date. Polite Staff and nice colouring pictures and boxes of crayons . Kids meal deal during summer holidays, superb value for money . My daughter had tuna sandwich and chips which was a good portion size and very tasty. I would highly recommend the Terrace cafe and we will definitely be back.

Pleasant staff good system for ordering and paying for food, we both had the ham & cheese toasties with side salad....excellent, very filling.

The meals looked gorgeous but after asking for a small portion was told No they don't do small portions I can only eat little and often because of a medical problem I would have settled for a child's portion but no so ihad to make do with toast and jam and then could only eat 1 slice so not a good dining experience for me and I can't afford to waste money on something I can't eat,😐

Called for coffee this morning. We ordered two Americanos & fruit scones for two. The coffee was Ok, but the fruit scones resembled rock cakes on the outside & raw pastry [n the centre. We have had a similar experience here once before, but wrote it off as a one off. Apparently not! It is a great shame as the ambience of this cafe is excellent, but te menu & service is average at best.

Sat 15 minutes then had to go and ask for somebody to take our order as people coming in after us were getting served. Said they would send someone sat another 5 minutes and others getting served before us again before someone came to take order. Have seen this happen in the past and people walking out

Been here several times sometimes it can be a bit slow service. The food is generally good. Our latest visit was diabolical we had booked a table and we arrived on time. The place was around 50% capacity. It took 25 mins before they took our order, we had to ask if we could have our coffees after waiting 40 mins then received our food after 50 mins. We hadn’t been brought any cutlery and had to ask a waiter who then went and had a little laugh with a female waitress behind the counter eventually we were brought some but our food was cold in places. Being a Sunday lunch we expected the food to be hot. The price increased slightly a few weeks ago then this week the portion sizes had greatly reduced. The roast beef is very good but 12.95 for roast beef one roast potato and a little mash and veg was not the good value of previous times. There was at least 8 front of house staff many don’t smile or communicate verbally. It felt very badly organised. Very sad but it’s put us off now

Waited 35 minutes to be served I know they were busy but no one came near to take our order so we walked out totally unacceptable

We had Sunday lunch . Very tasty but I'm afraid it wasn't very hot. Left me feeling a little disappointed, I did not complain as it was eatable but for us personally it needed to be hot!!

Visited The Terrace cafe today for lunch. I called in at approx 11:10am. I was directed to a table and sat down waiting to place my order. Waitress came and took the orders from a group of people who arrived after us. This is not the first-time this has happened to us at this place. I waited following this for approx 10 mins before approaching a staff member at the till to advise them of what had happened. I was met with blank looks and disinterest. On realising I was getting viewed as a problem I advised her I was offended and that we were leaving.As I walked towards the exit the waitress told me she would have served me next..I pointed out she served customers who arrived after us and that I was leaving...Service left a bad taste in my mouth.

Awful service today,only wanted a coffee and a scone but had to endure a 40 minute wait before it eventually arrived, during that time witnessed two customers give up the will to live and walk out without being served

Excellent breakfast! Full breakfast for my partner and for me the poached egg on toast was just right. Staff are friendly and helpful. Certainly would recommend.j

Went for lunch and had their very cheesy quiche made with tomatoes and onions. Very tasty. It is served with salad, all of which was crunchy and fresh. We had an additional side of chips, freshly cooked, crisp on the outside and fluffy in the middle. With an Americano this made for an excellent meal. Social distancing is in place together with sanitation on entry and exit as well as staff all wearing masks, so I felt safe here. Very good experience all round.

Had a while to be served but was very busy. Once served food came quickly. Felt very safe well spaced out and organised. Food was lovely and a good cup of tea in tea pot more than one cup will return no complaints.

After reading the reviews and looking good we called in for lunch.Tables spaced out now due to Covid 19 but still OK.Had to que to wait to be seated but thats the way it is now. We were left with a paper menu..no specials on it had to get up and read them on a board.I had cheese and tomatoe quiche...my partner had steak pie.Both highly disappointed...meat was tough in the pie...my quiche was not good..the pastry was tough...I couldn't eat it...the salad was huge leaves with 1 slice cucumber and 1 quarter of tomatoes...no dressing offered...The chips with my meal had been fried twice..limp..greasy..absolutely horrid...No one came to ask if the food was OK. I didn't want to cause a fuss and complain as it was busy...but I noticed a lot of left food...shame because lovely cafe... but I won't go there again..

We visited for lunch expecting staff to maintaine safety procedures but no maskes were worn and no social distancing used wilk not be back.

Called in for lunch whilst visiting Asda. Very well organised in respect of Covid 19, tables very well spaced and clear instructions given by staff. We both had ciabatta's which were served with coleslaw and salad. Portion size was excellent and we both oeft feeling quite full. Will definitely eat there again when next in the area.

I visit this cafe regularly and surprised at some of the other reviews. The food is always lovely, prices are very good and the portions are huge. Staff can't do enough for you and nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend, also the cafes decor is stunning.

Visited the Terrace restaurant twice recently, delicious food with plentiful portions and prompt service. I enjoyed the chicken and ham pie ,huge chunks of chicken in a yummy sauce , my Mam had the cheese and ham quiche which was a generous slice and looked lovely. Toasties are very tasty with chunky bread and always come with a fresh salad garnish. We'll be back again soon

Excellent food, nice atmosphere. The steak pie was possibly the best I’ve had in a while, large portions you definitely won’t go away hungry! Third visit for us and still excellent.

We have visited here several times and found the food and service to be very good. The coffee and cakes are good as well as Sunday lunch good value.

This is the third and last time that I will visit this awful cafe. On all three occasions I have found the staff indifferent. On my first visit, I ordered a salad, which never appeared, I had to go and ask the staff what had happened to it. On the second occasion I ordered a dish of sweet potato fries,the same thing happened again, where I was forced to go and ask the staff. Yesterday a friend asked me to meet her for a coffee, I reluctantly agreed,. However on arrival I decided that I would have a toasted teacake, I sat for 10 minutes waiting for my teacake, once again , being forced rather embarrassingly to ask about my food. Well this is the last time I will find myself in this embarrasing position. I will not be returning. There are plenty of other nice cafes in the area. To the Manager of this cafe. May i reccomend that you have an overhaul of your staff.

One person serving behind till due to layout, tables not cleared, four staff in total front of house one on hot drinks one on till two serving....fourth visit but sadly the last. Too long stood waiting :(

Such a shame as this cafe started off so well but sadly the last couple of visits which i hasten to add will be my last have been poor. Waited at the till area for 5mins as a short haired older member of staff blatantly ignored me talking to another member of staff. I ended up walking out and going costa next door. Service is terrible and food has gone way downhill.

Visited today for lunch. Gorgeous ciabatta - plenty of filling, beautifully presented and arrived quickly. The dining area is beautiful, too.

Visited yesterday lunchtime , after standing ages in the queue told only lite bites available , why no notice on counter telling you this? saw numerous people getting to till & then coming back to table to speak to family , bad management , staff seemed to have no organisation whatever, when food finally arrived it was good , had to ask for tea , which I'd ordered , then portion of chips . Should be more information regarding. Where to get cutlery etc , not impressed at all.

Came here a couple of days ago with my son, got to admit I was a bit worried with reading the bad reviews but I wanted to see for myself and am pleased I did. Décor is lovely, food was great and so was the service, will definitely be back again.

Visited with family last week and will not be back. Decor and seating are fabulous and obviously had a lot of money spent on them. Shame you couldn't have spent that on the food. Hardly any cheese in the toasty or the panini, jacket with tuna mayo had no mayo had to ask for extra. We weren't the only ones who were unhappy with the food as a couple next to us walked out.

Not the first time I have eaten here but I had the pleasure of having my baby shower hosted here. The staff couldn't of been more accommodating and the food was to die for! I would highly recommend it to anyone!

Unfortunately I have to agree with previous reviewers. I ordered Hunter chix burger and let me tell you it’s nothing special about 2 frozen pieces of chicken and uncooked bacon ( when you specifically asked for NO bacon )! Staff very unprofessional and unpleasant to look at, touching hair when serving food? Really? We will be lost if we haven’t look at the previous review regarding service, so maybe suggesting sign saying: please order you food/drinks at the counter. Would I be returning back? Definitely no, thank you. Decor is absolutely stunning so it’s shame really. Hope management reading what customers had to say.

This was our first time at this cafe, loved tha layout & ambiance, staff were friendly & helpful. The best part was the food it was first class!! Really enjoyed it!! Will be back soon

The layout and decor are really nice. As a first time visitor it’s difficult to work out how it works - is it table service? Is it hot plate service? How do we order? To compound that the staff seem to ignore you as you try to work out what to do. To be frank the waitress didn’t seem certain herself as she said one thing then did another. All of the issues come down to the manager. If they trained the staff, briefed them on menu content and customer service. They would be more proficient and the customer experience would be better. Food was OK but I have to ask, who’s idea was it to garnish hot food with strawberries and orange slices?! Looks pretty but it’s hardly a marriage made in heaven - a cheese and onion toastie with fresh fruit :-/

Went in for breakfast with the children for the first time. It’s a long heated area counter that was empty except two quiche. Three young staff chatting and not acknowledging me. Wasn’t clear who I place order with. Girl on the till right on the end busy with something did her best not to respond and I tried to ask a passing member of staff for food and referred to till as if I was a total fool. Noting other places you order from persons on counter and take to till on tray and pay. She spent five mins doing something on the till before acknowledging me and meanwhile my children had gone off to explore. Very nice venue situated in department store. Has a French style that’s really very good indeed and unexpected.

Ordered two hot baguettes which should have been quick as the ingredients were in the carvery but waited half an hour in an almost empty restaurant.. they'd obviously forgotten about us. The meal which was £17.50ish was two Turkey and stuffing baguettes, two diet cokes and one dessert.. and we knew the price was expensive before we ordered but we expected a the quality of the food to be better given the high quality surroundings. We got two jugs of watery gravy which was far too much to tip on each baguette, a huge salad with disgusting coleslaw (which we usually like), and two tiny cold stuffing balls (one for each baguette). The waitress was really apologetic but wasn't allowed to offer us a refund which we couldn't understand why.. She did offer an extra dessert of charge though. Honestly you should avoid this place.. crap food, mediocre service, and no atmosphere. I feel better now.

Called in for a light bite of lunch , decor looks lovely and very nicely laid out , staff seem a bit confused as to who should be doing what ? Ordered a toastie & a bacon and chicken mayonaise jacket potato which then took 40mins to arrive , only for the jacket potato filling to be dry chicken and bacon ....no mayonnaise....sent back and took 10 minutes to return ....food was ok ...

Called in today despite hearing mixed reviews, especially about waiting times.

Been four times now, food is outstanding and the service excellent. The place is very well done out, relaxing and clean. Staff are lovely. Food is cooked from fresh so yes there can be a bit of a wait sometimes (which is better than getting it fast from a place that reheats frozen food in a microwave). Highly recommend The Terrace, it's fairly new so give it a chance and support local businesses. Everyone suffers if local businesses don't do well.

We went to try this new place out and we ordered our food and waited 30 minutes and then my partners food was burnt and when asked for another it came with some of it uncooked. By this time we had waited 40 minutes and myself and daughter had nearly finished our food. The food that was cooked it was nice and tasty. I will not be coming back again
