St. Lawrence Tandoori in Thanet

We turned up to get our pre-booked table and the staff were unwelcoming and didn’t smile. I ordered a Carlsberg and got a Cobra and when I queried it, I was told they didn’t have any even though it was on the menu. We ordered starters which turned up luke warm. The main course was ok but nothing to write home about. My wife had the lamb achari, which she said didn’t have much flavour. I had the lamb malayan and if it wasn’t for the pineapple in it, it would’ve been completely bland. The staff need to show they are bothered about their customers and perhaps smile a bit more. The restaurant was just over half full and there was very little atmosphere. I wouldn’t recommend visiting this restaurant. The only plus side is that they forgot to charge us for the drink each we had. They never asked if we wanted another drink even though our glasses were empty half way through the starters.

We went to this restaurant on recommendation of a friend , we booked a table for 4 persons in advance . On arrival they seemed busy and we were shown to a table but thought it was very cramped compared to other restaurants we have visited . We ordered drinks and then our food , the table next to us said they had been waiting ages for their food and other people who came in after them had been served first. We ordered our food and even that came out before theirs came out , our order came out incorrect and we insisted they check our order . They admitted they were wrong so one in our party had to wait for their food to be cooked . The food was ok but the service has a lot to answer for.

We have visited this restaurant this evening and we were really pleased with the service and the atmosphere. The food was delicious, hot and presented very well. We love it here and will definitely will be back very soon. The Peshawari Naan was too die for for those coconut lovers. The restaurant was clean and well presented. Great value for money too. This place is disappointingly unremarkable throughout. The menu says Perrier but they serve Highland Spring. The Coconut Rice is just regular rice with a bit of desiccated coconut thrown on top for £3.50. I chose Chicken Tikka Dhansak, only because a previous review said how great it was. My experience was quite different, there was nothing special about it. Our bill for 4 persons came to around £76 (with no alcohol). The other food served to us was equally dull. We were a party of four, visiting Thanet. After eating here, none of us slept well which I suspect to be due to liberal use of taste-enhancers. One day later (as I write), I’m sorry to say I’ve had to run for the bathroom twice so far, and my tummy is in a state of some discomfort ever since my meal. The facilities were disappointing too. For example, the taps in the bathroom only dispense ice cold water. It’s quite uncomfortable to wash your hands in. This, to my mind, probably typifies the level of care the owners have for their customers. This reflects the service though. At the outset, I’d had to ask for additional cutlery. It was thrown down in front of me. There are no dedicated waiters, instead it’s a mad rush by the 3 staff members to cover every task (including takeaways). People get ignored and we ended up walking out, stopping to pay at the door, rather than continue waiting for the bill. I should point out there was a young waiter who was well-mannered and friendly, he impressed us but we only saw him once or twice. My local restaurant in East London is Bangladeshi also, and the food is fantastic and the owner welcomes customers like old friends. This place is appalling by comparison, for food quality and service. Having said all this, the other customers seemed to like the place. Heaven knows it’s not for everyone. My advice is to do your body a favour and eat elsewhere if you have any expectation of decent quality Bangla cuisine. You won’t get it here.

Just had another delivery just as good as dining in and really nice and hot, great service and great food as always, love it.

We live locally and we are always delighted with the food. Tonight we had delicious meat samosas, lamb and chicken, rice , naam bread and more! All delicious. Thank you. The atmosphere is relaxing and the service is always discreet. Until next time.

We have used this resturant for years and usually happy with service, until last night. Ordered 6.25, quoted 50 minutes for delivery, not a problem. Phoned at 7.45 as still no food given loads of shouted excuses including, you are mistaken you didn't order from us!!....then when I said I had paid them, they found my order cooked in kitchen and were just waiting for a driver 10 minutes. 30 minutes later stone cold food arrived. Some of which was incorrect to order. Went in bin....phoned to complain all I got was 'Oh'

Ordered a takeaway the other day best curry in my area by miles the Chicken Tikka Dhansak was off the chart 10/10

I pre ordered my meal on Just Eat at 4pm to be delivered at 7pm. Food was late so rang the resturant a few times, each time the food was either about to leave or waiting to be picked up by the driver! By time my food got to us it was 9.30pm! The food was cold and bland! The customer service on the phone was very disappointing too, just being told they were busy with 20 orders! I get that, but unfortunately that isn't my problem, dont allow for people to pre order food if you can't meet the requirements. I usually use this Indian quite regularly but will be looking to go elsewhere for future.

Ordered take away, only ten minutes late which is no problem as I would always rather the food late and good quality which it was however although the food itself was nice it was ridiculously over priced, the order of two standard Curry's one rice and 3 nan breads was nearly £37 and although the curry sauces were good there was very little meat in them considering the price charged, unfortunately wouldn't use again due to the amount they charge.

Excellent, fresh, hot and quick delivery every time. The longest we’ve waited is 50 mins. The food is delicious, very generous portion sizes. We’ve only ever had takeaway but would definitely eat in at some point in the future!

Service was atrocious. Table booked for 8pm but we arrived at 7.45pm. There were a few empty tables but they hadn’t been cleared down. We were seated by 8pm and then waited 15 mins for drinks and poppadoms. We then waited 50 mins for our food to arrive! It was clear that takeaway delivery orders took precedence over diners eating in. I’ve never seen so many takeaway orders fly out the door. Having said all that, the food was good.

OK, so in all honesty fantastic food. Can't fault a thing with that, and even friendly service. What did get me a little frustrated was that I ordered a bottle of rose mateus. You can buy this from asda or tesco for around £6, but to be charged £17.95! I understand restaurants mark up I get that but by x3!Loved the food but not again thanks, or at least provide a wine menu so I can avoid the over priced drinks. X

Absolutely appalling. Ordered at 730 and told 1 hr delivery. Waited til 850 and chased. Told sorry 20 more minutes. Phoned again at 930... had to confirm order.. told "sorry we are busy" but you do not accept order if you are too busy to meet. I have household of people and £70 order waiting. We have had to settle for ordering a pizza at 10.00. Will never use st Lawrence tandoori again. Incidentally they offered us a half price next order rather than compensating the absolute chaos of tonights order. So hungry, angry and totally p****d off.... utterly disappointed!!!!!!!!!!

After still waiting for 1hour and 45 minutes 3 phone calls and still no food I am disgusted with this service. I have been told twice it’s with the driver I’m sure it would be stone cold after this time!! My partner has now gone down to the shop as we have spent a fair bit on this order to be provided with dishonest staff and this has spoilt our evening. Will not ever use again. Disgusting customer service.

Been here three times now. Always been reasonably happy, however when they're busy the poo hits the fan. They didn't stop taking just eat orders, que was out the door and lots of hungry people waiting two hours for there food. Mine arrived however I was unhappy with the way it was cooked. I wasn't charged in the end but it ruined my eve. Nice and clean, friendly staff but they take on too much when busy and that's when mistakes and unhappy customers happen.

The food was really nice! Staff were alright! I would rate the staff 7/10 and the food a 10/10.I will definitely come to the Tandori again.I would recommend you go if you love Currys. It's a great place to go once a month or every other month! All of is who had a takeaway loved it!

Awful service. I ordered takeaway on deliveroo waited an HOUR over the estimated time. When it did arrive they gave me the completely wrong order, driver went away for another HOUR and a half, by that time I waited 3 hours for my food. I rang the restaurant and the man kept saying “I can’t hear you” he basically didn’t want to talk. Not even an apology or a phone call to explain where my food was. This is not the first time this restaurant has messed up my order even when I picked up the takeaway. I will never use this Indian again.

I was there tonight in a group of eleven. The service was efficient and swift. The food was good although some of the dishes weren't as hot (temperature wise) as people expected. Despite this, everyone enjoyed their meal. We ate from the group menu which was excellent value for money.

Delicious food, reasonable portion sizes, sensible prices. Gents was close to perfect which I like in a restaurant. Staff nice but need a firm hand 😀. Recommended.

Popped in on a Monday evening for a take away.Three of us.Three mains, three rice, three naan, three sides. Reduced price for collection, from £51 down to £44. WHAT? I'm sorry, but that is rather expensive. Having spent £44 it would have been nice to have a free poppadom or two, perhaps three. It is traditional in other areas. Nothing, nada, zip. Sad really.We had a chef or two in the three of us and they came to the conclusion that the chicken had been boiled and then the sauce thrown onto it. This is a quick method but it doesn’t allow the flavours to penetrate the chicken.Other than that it was really tasty.So, overpriced, no freebies and questionable method of cooking.

The service we got was awful , they were so busy they needed more staff to attend to tables We asked the waitress if they had lime cordial And she said “ I don’t know “ ! We looked behind the bar and yes the did so we asked for 2 pints of lime and soda The lime cordial and ice was served in very small glasses with a small bottle of soda.... when We asked for a pint We meant We wanted a pint ... this drink was a baby size drink .... We felt like saying We didn’t want them due to probably bring expensive for the size .... so we asked for jug tap water ,.. no water came so asked again .. jug water came but with no ice in it so was warmAfter eating the food the waitress cleared my side of the table and didn’t walk around the table to collect the other plates she asked for them to be given to her ( bunged over ) I think was the word ! We had to wait a good 15 minutes to pay at the end... we just wanted to leave The staff used to rush over to open the door for the customer but no one even called out goodbye ! The food was nice though ...thought the nan bread had got smaller and the drips were not filled up as much as on other visits I don’t think I will return and if I do it will be along time in the future

We recently went to the St Lawrence Tandoori for the first time in years. Like many families we see going out for a meal as a treat and having tried other similar places we were left disappointed.

We were camping down the road and had been walking around looking for food on a Friday night when we stumbled across this place. As there was no where else to eat within a 10 min walk of the campsite we decided that we had no option. What a pleasant surprise! The welcome was friendly and the food was fantastic. We were both so glad that we stumbled across this place and if we lived locally would use it more often!

Visited mid week, not very tempting on the outside, but inside very nice. Two chaps serving did not really look interested in any of their customers, luckily the food was very nice and well presented. Prices very reasonable

We took our daughter for her birthday. We ordered enough food to feed an army. The food was excellent. We had kormas, chefs specials, sides, naans. Every dish was well presented and very tasty. Would I return, most definitely.

Supposed to be one of the best Indians in Thanet not quite all food cold lamb balti tasted disgusting,peshwari naan couldn't have been any colder without being in a fridge and the onion bhajees looked like a 4 year old had made them at school...... shocking......

St Lawrence tandoori is possibly the best take away in the Ramsgate area. Consistently good food and large portions. Friendly staff and a nice place to eat in with a new decor. The only shame is they do not do deliveries. Reasonable prices too, and a new loyalty card scheme is very popular, one for takeaway and one for eat in. With offers of a free starter plus 10% off and a free main meal within 9 visits. On the takeaway menu. Other offers are available throughout the year.

Not been for years, had always been ok and came up best of the bunch in Ramsgate...which only persuades me to steer well clear of the others. Food was cold and bland. No atmosphere. That's pretty much it..

Ordered food and went to pick it up. staff were friendly enough but when we got home some of the order was missing. called them. they would not refund the missing items to the card payment was taken from. nor would they bring the missing items saying we would have to go back and get them. not the best way to do business. the mistake was at their end, not ours.

We had a very nice meal here on Sunday evening. Food was of a high standard and the service was excellent. This was our first visit and we will definitely be returning.

I can visited St. Lawrence tandoori a few times with either family and friends or just my partner, food is always at a good standard and price. Never had a bad meal. Lucky I am local so can walk there as parking is hard.

The modern restaurant is very pleasant and a change from many old fashioned Indian restaurant. The food was very pleasant and the service was good. We did feel the greeting less than welcoming maybe because our reservation which was made on the telephone didn't seem to be on their list. This is partly why I have marked down to average as the meal itself probably deserved a slightly higher mark. We would definitely visit again.

Some time since visting. Like the new look interior very impressed. Also although i have always found their food good. It too has improved. Lovely flavours and depth to the dishes. Would recommend if like me you have not been for a while or are looking for a new Indian experience

Have just moved back to Kent, after 18 years, this is bye far the best Asian restaurant, same great taste and flavours,great service, just how I remember. Only thing missing was the after eight, and the bowl of frosted seeds.

Booked online which was really easy, welcomed in by a very friendly gentleman, shown to our very clean and well laid out table, well presented menus, very good service, cold draught cobra, didn't feel rushed, order starters and mains which came out in good time, food was absolutely stunning, reasonably priced would defo go back

4th visit to this local Tandoori in Ramsgate and as before was not disappointed. Food is fresh, authentic and delicious! Nice atmosphere for couples and groups alike. Staff arequired polite and friendly. Highly recommended, you will not be disappointed.

We visit this restaurant regularly and the food is always to a high standard. The service is good and we have never had a bad experience with our orders. The decor has been upgraded to a high standard and was well worth the wait while it was being carried out.

Most delicious, delicate flavours, lamb madras was mouthwateringly tender and vegetarian dishes had beautiful subtle flavours. The restaurant decor is stylish and modern with clean lines and spotlessly clean. There was a really good atmosphere, it is clearly popular as the restaurant filled up quickly. Waiting staff were attentive and quick, polite and friendly. An absolute must for tandoori lovers, as we are!

A brilliant tandoodri for indian lovers. It has a nice traditional and modern setting. It has very clean toilets and all cutlery and dineware are also tip-top! I would definetely recommend to all Indian food lovers

Newly refurbished, this place is looking great, as well as serving the very best Indian food. Despite it being really busy on a Friday night, with every table booked and people, like ourselves, queuing in the off chance of getting a table, service was , as always first class
