Jaffna South Indian Cuisine in Thanet

Went to this restaurant for a pizza (firstly banging, so yummy) and the chef gave us a sample of his chicken tikka…delicious, I went home that night and woke up in the morning craving it again so went back for more. VERY impressed, I had the Dahl and chicken tikka masala, great value for money, chef was lovely and gave me a glass of his mango yogurt drink. I am very upset I don’t live locally, LOVE LOVE LOVE

Sorry these guys were very nice and wanted it to be great but that was genuinely some of the worst food I’ve had out in a long time. Would probably give a 2 star but I was starving so ate most of it. Avoid tandoori wings

A hidden gem in margate, an excellent place to pick up some food for the steps.

Really delicolious butter chicken and Chicken Tikka with chappathi. Also friendly shop owner. Chicken Tikka is quite spicy.

Chicken biriyani, daal and roti. Wow, wow, wow, absolutely delicious. The best take out food I've had in ages. Thank you.🙂

Super vegan dosa! Portion sizes are v generous and food tastes delicious

Disappointed. I don’t understand how this get 4.7 stars. It took me 20 min to have my food, it wasn’t that busy. Had to chase them up on my order… The kitchen was not so clean and the food was super average. It’s not that expensive, and 10 pounds for a bowl of rice is ok but it wasn’t delicious at all and a bit dry.

Oh my goodness, this really IS a hidden gem! Came across this place as we couldnt find anywhere to eat on a friday night and so plsd we did. Food freshly made when you order. Dont be put off by the small cooking area, food was nicely spiced, cooked to perfection and portion sizes were just right. Staff were really friendly too and very reasonably priced. No frills but you couldn't beat the quality. Please visit, if you get the chance. You won't be disappointed.

Great service and good food! I couldn’t find anything wrong with the service as they were very attentive and friendly. We enjoyed the food and The atmosphere was wonderful. Real taste of India.

Great little place. Great tasty Indian food and plenty of it at realistic prices. We loved it and I would certainly recommend it 100%. It can take a little longer to arrive on your table as its a one man show but defo worth the wait.

Love this place. When in margate it is the place to eat. Amazing authentic flavours lovingly prepared in a small space. Such a lovely gent serving along with his delightful family. I can't speak highly enough. It's just a next level! A really great selection and huge portions for the price. You won't regret finding this place in the old kent market, (the one with the bus, near the turner).

Delicious and authentic! Masala Dosa (we got the gluten free option) and a little side of chicken curry set us up for our day at the beach. Great atmosphere in The Old Kent Market too. Thanks for looking after us, we’ll be back soon!

Delicious food, good taste, very cheap price. You may have to wait a little long because there is only one chef. The chef is nicely and always asks if the food is okay. overall good 👍

Amazing staff! So friendly and helpful explaining to our teen boys every dish and bringing them extras. The best authentic Indian food I have eaten outside of India itself (travelled there extensively). And all cooked with true Indian humility, charm and love. Will definitely be back with as many friends as possible! Don’t go anywhere else in Margate for Indian food. A little tip try the samosas!

Absolutely amazing South Indian food. No grease whatsoever, fresh, perfectly spiced, hot, and such a friendly owner. We were having a drink nearby and he gave us a taster while we waited...unbelievable prices too - masala dosa was out of this world and HUGE, all for about a fiver. It's great to see honest food cooked with passion and served without an insane markup. I hope this summer sees Jaffna's reputation grow massively with the influx of tourists for the season! Please go!

Bad food uncooked and poorly spiced this is mediocre at best the family that used the run the RIz did South Indian/Sri Lankan food properly this guy is a joke

Freshly made dishes that are well spiced. Loved the vegan saag, and masala dosa. The owner is kind and friendly too. :)

After working in an award winning restaurant for 6 years you might say I know my onions, well at Jaffna they know their garlic, ginger, and spices too! Greatest flavour in the market, the fish curry was very soft and very delicious. Got some free chicken pieces as well. Cluck, cluck!!! A taste of home if I had had a different home growing up. Amen xx

Looking for lunch in a very busy Margate and came across the 'Old Kent Market' where there's a selection of small shops and food/drink outlets. I picked this place and boy did I pick right! I had the prawn curry that was cooked fresh and it came with Bombay potatoes, rice with some yellow Dahl and chapatis, Really fresh flavours and spices and all for only £9.95. Brilliant 🤩

So impressed. I'm a bit of a wuss with chilli but after having a try my chicken curry was personalised. And wow was it delicious. Able to talk to the lovely chef while he was cooking also a bonus. Sag aloo to die for. Definitely going back.

After working in an award winning Indian restaurant for 5 years, I think I can give a pretty reliable review. Really enjoyed the Spinach and also the spice and flavour of the Chicken curry. The owner was incredibly friendly and gave us way more food then we ordered. So we paid him a bit extra then he was charging (which was very little). Very homemade style authentic little place, right down to the plates and spoons. Don’t go in expecting fine dining, it’s definitely a casual, home eating style affair, but if that’s what your after it’s really great!

Excellent food and value for money, just popped in to have a look around at all the local food places and the menu was just what I fancied, delicious home cooked Indian food and very generous portions. 😍
