Found the cafe purely by accident, on the High Street, stopping in Loddon for something to do on a rather autumnal day. You will find it near to the take away and funeral services, but don't let that deter you...So glad we popped in! Wide choice of cakes and some savouries, including vegan and/or gluten free. Huge pot of tea! Pretty tea room, very well equipped single toilet. Family affair, mother and two daughters bake everything on site. Long chat with lovely Lisa, so enthusiastic about their business. We only tasted a quiche and blackberry cake, but goodness, so delicious, and if a hint of other produce from their fine hands, well worth a further visit or cake order. Apparently mum Julie runs craft classes upstairs too.. talented family. We wish you continued success and will hopefully see you next holiday.

Impressed that they always have a vegan and GF option. I had the coconut and mango cake, which was ok, wouldn't choose again as was fairly dry and could have been very good.My partner had the chocolate cake which he said was good. We also had one cheese scone and one quiche (onion marmalade and cheese) quiche was very nice. The other thing i would maybe suggest is a clear sign outside, at first we didn't know this place was here but is a nice little bakery.

Lovely little place offering one of the of best gluten free Brownies I have ever had the pleasure of tasting! Very gooey and rich, perfect when paired with a black coffee (or a strong cup of tea). Alongside the Brownie I would also recommend the Salted Caramel loaf, crumbly, not too overpowering and nicely balanced with the buttercream icing and caramel drizzle.

I don’t normally add reviews but wanted to in this instance, to counterbalance the review from the individual that said he didn’t like it because someone was breastfeeding. It’s not really a reasonable thing to review somewhere based upon, since it happens everywhere (and is protected by law). There is also a sign on the door saying that they’re breastfeeding friendly, which as a feeding mother myself, gives me great comfort, since it can be worrisome to feed in public in case you meet one of the aforementioned individuals. They say that breastfeeding isn’t really their cup of tea. Well, it’s not supposed to be, it’s a baby’s but had they looked at the menu, they’d have seen that Spoon Cake offer a really wide range of teas. I’m sure one would have been more suitable. Anyhow, we digress. I regularly go here, it’s always great. The staff are brilliant, always super friendly and welcoming. There’s a huge range of cakes and light bites for all dietary requirements. I had my baby shower here and there was a coeliac amongst my guests. She was made a separate selection of gluten free things, so felt comfortable with what she was eating. It’s my favourite place to go for lunch with friends or family.

I've been to this cafe on several occasions and for different purposes. The cake selection is forever enticing and never disappoint on taste. Lunch menu choices are slightly limiting but for a small business it's understandable. The interior is small but quirky with various handmade products on display around the cafe. Service can be slow during busy times but generally the ladies are friendly. The main reason for my return visits are their cakes. I always try a different one from the last and to date I have always been impressed on how delicious they taste! Looking forward to the next visit!

Presented with a menu which was on a clipboard, had obviously been on there for some time as very crumpled and scruffy. Menu doesn’t seem to vary much, I used to really enjoy their pizzas but they haven’t had them on any of my recent visits. We ordered our food, my husband ordered sparkling water which duly arrived with a glass which was wet and had quite a bit of debris on the bottom. He ordered prawn sandwiches but the prawns were warm. He mentioned it as we were paying, apparently it was prepared near the panini toaster. Staff pleasant but not over attentive.

A small shop and tea room but the welcome is big. A lovely selection of cakes, some advertised as gluten free and some vegan. My husband had Baileys cake which was very filling, I had the maple and pecan which was also filling but really good too. The cakes were served on pretty china plates and instead of a cake fork you are given a teaspoon, very unusual but a good idea. They also do snacks and most of the people in there were regulars. Dotted around are local craft items and hand knitted garments. A really good place to stop for a break.

We came back for the sausage rolls which we had with salad and crisps and coleslaw however we did not get coleslaw. I had tea in a pot for one. This was the best cuppa I have had in ages. This is an immaculately clean little cafe/restaurant which serves old fashioned cakes and tea/coffee and lunches, not sure about opening in the evenings. It has all kinds of knitted woollens on display and has examples of crochet work on the tables. It smacks of the kind of place where Mum, her sister and auntie Mary would have put together and everyone of them seems to be in charge. The Crochet classes on a Monday just adds to the mix. Oh, yes, the food, was homemade and looked as you might expect. The scones looked the freshest and were served warm. They apparently do not take bookings because they are usually quite busy so that seems to speak for itself. Worth a visit to capture this little time-warp.

A spontaneous visit for lunch proved to be an excellent choice today. From the Specials Board we each chose the Leek and Potato soup which came with a fresh warm cheese scone. This was not the insipid watery affair that you get at some establishments but a creamy, tasty, filling and most welcome dish. We probably didn't need to order the shared Cheese Platter with it's fresh ciabatta, cheddar, white stilton with apricots and assorted pickles...but nothing went to waste! A good choice of cold drinks went well with our meal and we finished off with a pot of mint tea [with a cosy!] and an excellent Americano, I'm advised. As always it was well worth the drive down the A146 to this great cafe.

SpoonCake is the perfect little place. The outside really mirrors the beauty inside the café. As well as what you'd expect from a café they also sell crafts which are mostly homemade, giving it a special USP. They have lovely staff who are always smiling and make you feel really welcome. The gluten free options demonstrate an extremely educated baker/chef with a seasonal menu that is very on the ball. Anywhere that has a hot chocolate menu is a real find in my book. I opted for the pumpkin one which was quite simply the best hot chocolate I've had. I was recommended to have a cheese scone and it didn't disappoint! They also serve it with cream cheese and chutney which is divine. There is a good choice of milkshakes here so they can make you any flavour which features on the hot chocolate menu. The service was a little slow as we had part of our order coming from the back and part from the front it caused a bit of a delay as it wasn't all served at the same time although apologies were given. There are some lovely crafty touches, a handmade tea cosy and cup warmer and you have the opportunity to buy crafty bits. The front of the cafe is a mini deli. You can also sign up to craft workshops here too. I would definitely return to work my way through the hot chocolate menu...

We first visited Spooncake when it opened and I explained that my daughter had a milk and egg allergy and my husband and I are vegan and at that point there were limited options for us. But these kind people took up the challenge and there is now an excellent range of vegan and free from food including cakes, scones, brownies, milkshakes, sandwiches and more. As a parent it makes a massive difference to be able to take your allergic child to a cafe and feel that they have a wide choice of nice food. It has also given us a local source of chocolate vegan birthday cakes. On top of this they are friendly and welcoming and have created a beautiful venue. We are also very appreciative of the new deli range which includes lots of vegan and free from goodies. Would highly recommend.

As we heading from Norwich to Southwold our appetites needed some attention so we detoured off to see if this cafe was as good as we remembered. Last time we just had scones and drinks which were excellent. This time we selected one of the veggie and one of the cheese platters to mix and share. These included a tasty hummus, mango & ginger Stilton and a mature Cheddar. These dishes were accompanied by bowls of olives, dipping oils, homemade pickles and chutneys. Three kinds of fresh bread were most welcome. There was also a good choice of sparkling and still cold drinks. Our lunch defeated us so we couldn't manage any of the significant range of homemade cakes. Next time!Apparently the owners are both vegetarian so the menu well caters for our individual needs.....although the fresh sausage rolls did look rather appealing!Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, great food, very reasonable prices......this place is definitely on our list of places to make a return visit. Please note that these premises don't have great signage so it is possible to walk past without realising......we suggest that you don't allow that to happen!

The main room holding only roughly 20 persons. The tea and sausage roll I had was very good, tasted home made. We noted that after a family left one of the young ladies came a swept up under the table. This you rarely see in establishments so we were impressed. I'm very fond of Spoon Cake, although I've not nipped in recently I have to say. It's a quaint little coffee shop in the very heart of Loddon, where the dentist surgery use to be. The building is overall, wonderful. Spoon cake is great value for money and everything is homemade on the premises I think. They have quite a vast vegan and vegetarian menu and are real good at catering to individual customers needs. The sausage rolls are amazing...although they sell out quite quickly so you'll have to be speedy. The cake is great too. I also brought some gingerbread houses over christmas as additional stocking fillers and they were thoroughly enjoyed. Presentation was spot on too. Avaibale to purchase inside are a host of little crafts and accesories. A lovely addition to Loddon town.

Grandad (who lives in Loddon) treated us to a gorgeous light-lunch here. Picking from the interesting menu the four of us enjoyed a tasty, fresh selection of home-produced produce...one of the best little cafe come restaurants I have had the pleasure of eating in! My daughter even purchased a hand-knitted scarf from the selection of crafts on-sale :). Just a cracking, quaint place to stop for lunch!

This is a lovely little cafe full of character and charm. It offers wonderful value for money. The cakes are made by owners and taste the best the portion size is generous to say the least. We have been several times and it never fails to please. I would recommend to everyone.

It looked wonderful, inside, it was wonderful. After that - will never go again.Celberation of first birthday advertised free cake with every order. We were not offered free cake, local customer was, next customer was not.( We assume they also were visitors to Loddon)Waitress appeared more interested in her ipad/laptop than in serving. We saw her typing away for over 20 minute before she went, after prompting to help serve.I guess the aprarised craft activites make 'the living', customers for JUST refreshment were an after thought. Maybe we had a bad experience - but we will not go again. Try it and see what happens to you if you are not local or crafty minded.Refreshments and cake were good! But we paid, when others got for free - as advertised. Service was poor, sadly, very poor for us.

A little cafe + shop that we walked past because they hadn't put up the shop sign yet! Luckily a local pointed the cafe out to us. A tea shop often conjures up an image of a old-fashioned fusty place and there are places like that if that is your fancy. However, I was pleased to see a number of young women enjoying cup of tea and a gossip! A super selection of home-baked cakes awaits. I prefer savoury and all four in our party had delicious cheese scones served with home made chutneys, green bean and tomato, both of which can be bought in the shop. The staff are attentive and willing, and the food is yummy. What more you do want from a cafe? Not far from home, we will definitely visit again, and if you are on holiday in the area, do stop here.

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Spoon Cake this afternoon with new friends. Pretty little cafe, nicely decorated and with a good menu - we had the delicious afternoon tea, priced at £4.25 it was great value. This little hive of industry holds craft workshops (the next one is "knicker making"!) on a regular basis, sells hand made crafts, cards and bits and bobs like unusual buttons and wool. Will definitely be going back to this little gem.

We came on 14/10/24 for a family wake. Mandy and Simon did an amazing job of making the room welcoming and accommodating us with all our wishes. The service and food were of excellent quality with a very fair price and there was plenty for all. It was so nice that even the cakes were iced in the favourite colours of our late family member, not requested but we felt was such a lovely added touch. Thank you Mandy and Simon, we would definitely recommend you.

3 of us had lunch here. We all chose something different and each dish was great. Everything was lovely and fresh. The soup was homemade with a generous portion of bread. The sandwich from the specials was accompanied by two types of salad as was the sausage roll. The service was efficient and friendly too. I highly recommend.
