Had an evening booking in the sky bar and it was just perfect. The staff are super friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The cocktails are properly made with fresh ingredients. The tables are well spaced so not over crowded, and of course the views are fantastic.

Went to the Spinnaker on the 2nd November for a meal and drink to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We ordered the carvery which was beef or turkey with the usual vegetable's we also ordered pigs in blankets. After getting our meal we sat down to eat. The beef was so tough we had difficulty in cutting it. Yorkshire puddings were soft and greasy. The roast potatoes were not crisp and most the vegetables were over cooked. We had to leave most of the meal as we found it inedible. Will not use the Spinnaker and cannot recommend it.

Full Breakfast: The hash bowns and Mushroom was soaked in oil, so much so they were not edible, sausages under cooked and we had toast with no butter. The price would have been reasonable had we been able to eat the food.

Can't fault the staff that were very friendly or the view at the top that was very good, but the afternoon tea was definitely not tasty or fresh, let alone worth £40 per person. Sandwiches were so basic and the bread was yesterday's probably and the scones were stale so maybe a couple of days ago. Very disappointed.

We had children’s meal of fish goujons with chips for children x2. The fish was grey and definitely wasn’t a goujon. More like a slice of a sausage roll. Inedible, adults had a cream tea. Th adults tried the fish, not nice . Weve had a poorly time all evening, I will say the cup of tea was lovely. Doubtful we will return.

Didn't even get to eat here, wondered why it was so empty in such a good location. Welcome wasn't bad, there just wasn't one which is even worse. No pastries at all and a very sad looking offering of yesterdays cakes offered (who wants cake at breakfast time when it's also clearly not fresh) Tried to order a scone with Jam and cream as they had a scone there and was informed the cream was reserved for the high tea and could have butter instead 😂 I mean it's 10am go and get some cream for later? Did a u turned and left.

First time coming to Portsmouth and wanted some late lunch. Ordered our food for 3 which came to around £53 with drinks and was told it would be a 30 minute wait for food which was fine as we were all sat chatting. An HOUR goes by and nothing, no one came up to check in on us, we had to go to them and ask where our food was. The lady we asked didn’t seem bothered and wouldn’t look at us in the eyes and just kept going into the kitchen and talking to another member of staff and didn’t come to say anything so I had to get up and go over. Apparently there was an error with the system and our ticket didn’t go through to the kitchen.. ok but where was the customer service from when we ordered to come check if our drinks were all ok and if we had our food yet? We were offered a round of free drink for the inconvenience. I’ve never been to a place, even a cafe where someone hasn’t checked in. We were told it was being done straight away, 20 minutes later we finally got our food. Yes the food was nice but the eggs were clearly overdone on both breakfasts and bacon was rock solid from being overcooked. Before leaving I asked to speak to someone higher up about the situation as we were appalled by the service received and I was told the manager wasn’t available. The lady who I was speaking to about it all didn’t seem bothered and just kept saying ‘I’ll speak with my manager on this’.. ok that doesn’t help the situation now and she just kept backing away to walk off when I hadn’t finished speaking Customer service shocking and complete ignorance from staff! For a first meal in Portsmouth it was NOT was we were expecting and we will NOT be returning again. For £53 this is not what we expected and making us wait for nearly an hour and a half was unacceptable without any actual care regarding the situation after

Possibly the worst cheese and ham toasties in the world. One very small slice of ham folded over to give the appearance of 2 slices, but got no where near the crusts. Possible a tablespoon of cheese as spread so thinly there was no taste. Salad was OK after dried, brown parts cut off. Crisps served with it were good. Service and wait time unacceptable. Tables took forever to cleared. Some staff just doing a job, no interaction, smile or thank you. Not impressed at all.

We had the misfortune of visiting here after we visited the tower. It was a complete joke we had tickets for the tower that we got online and ordered a cream tea and coffee and cake as part of our online order. The staff didn't seem to have a clue what they were doing if they can't complete multiple orders at once then do one order at a time would be better. Ordered what we wanted and ordered 2 cold drinks separate I asked for ice which I didn't get so asked for ice which I was happy with I was given a pint glass of ice that was the only good part. They put the scone (after i was asked if i wanted the scone warm nice touch but you could tell the reason for this the scone was stale) and cake on the tray and the teapot we had to ask for the coffee we had to wait while another person made that I had to ask the male server for a knife for the scone a fork for the cake 2 napkins the cream jam and butter for the scone I also had to ask for a cup for the tea to be told oh you want an extra cup I told him no it's fine I will drink the tea out of the teapot I want the cup to drink my tea out of thanks The carrot cake was very dry and stale we didn't see if that had any date stickers either in the cabinet the cakes were stored in The teapot was dirty the cream and jam didn't have best before or use by stickers on them which again needs to have There is no basic hygiene or food hygiene from any of the workers at the front that day they all had an attitude its a tourist area we will and give poor service as we will probably only see you once while in the area At the very least they need retraining on how to complete orders and customer service also I hope they all the staff have up to date food hygiene certificates which is needed

I've lived in Portsmouth for 3 years, eat out regularly and honestly have never had a bad food experience until visiting this restaurant yesterday. I've actually never felt the need to write a bad review on anywhere before but would not want anyone else wasting money here. We ordered food and drinks and were given glasses that i can only call disgusting. They were covered in scum (clearly a build up) and lipstick marks around all of them. When i went up and ask for clean glasses the lady grabbed some more from the side, lifted these (supposedly clean glasses) and clearly seen for herself that these were also dirty and then handed them to me. However they were still covered in scum where they hadn't been cleaned properly. I ordered a cheddar toastie and the bread came out completely white and i toasted with thin sliced cheddar not even melted inside. One of our party ordered the chips, egg and ham, and the ham was surrounded by water where it clearly had been pulled out of some sort of tin 🤢. In between two of the forks also had a build up of dirt. We were in complete shock at the service from the waitress who brought down our food also. She brought down the food to our table without looking at any of us, put the food on the table and walked away (never experienced this in a restaurant before). May seem harsh but I would describe the place as quite vile as i've never ate somewhere so dirty in portsmouth or the surrounding areas. On returning home, I had told a friend from the area about the experience and she said the Spinnaker kitchen is known as quite poor but wished we had have known sooner.

Had a lovely seat on the outside terrace overlooking Portsmouth harbour and the Isle of Wight. The ordering process at the counter was rather inefficient, but staff were polite. The food was brought out to our table after about 15 minutes - a bowl of excellent homemade soup and two rustic granary rolls and a 4 egg free range cheese omelette with salad garnish - again excellent and very reasonably priced. Would certainly visit again when in Gunwharf keys.

We have been here a couple of times before as it has a lovely view and a good choice for a light lunch but the service has always been slow and casual. Unfortunately, the same story again this time. It wasn’t particularly busy but our food took ages to arrive. For my Brie, chicken and bacon toastie they had ran out of Brie so I agreed a substitute of normal cheese but it was fine, my partners scrambled egg on toast was on dry toast so we had to ask for butter. This could be a great place but they need staff that actually care about their customers experience.

I visited here on a whim having watched the D-Day fly past from the tower. The ticket price included a cream tea. I redeemed my voucher only to be told by a grinning server that they’d run out of jam for the cream teas. When I asked how that was possible on what they must have known would be the busiest weekend of the year, she just shrugged. Undeterred I asked her to check the kitchen and five minutes later she emerged with 3 cases of jam. Clearly couldn’t be bothered to check. In the meantime, a young male server was stood, running his hands through his hair whilst using the same bare hands to take teabags from the box and putting scones on plates. What happened to food hygiene? As if this wasn’t bad enough, the cup and teapot I was given were both filthy. The teapot I could cope with but the teacup had tea stains and lipstick on the rim. I appreciate the dishwasher may have missed this but surely whoever stocks the cupboards would have seen this? The customer service was shocking with staff seeming to treat everything as a joke and the hygiene standards are poor. There are plenty of other places in gunwharf where they care about customers and cleanliness. Don’t waste your time and money here

It was a beautiful day so we decided to go to the Spinnaker Kitchen at the bottom of the Spinnaker tower & sit outside with a tea & take in the view. We did discuss if we should go there as days earlier we had been up the tower & the staff in the sky bar were rude & dismissive, but thought we would give them the benefit of the doubt. Why oh why did we go back. We went in & ordered tea & flapjacks and took them outside to a table. As we were pouring the tea the member of staff who seconds earlier (literally seconds) had served us the tea came out to us and stated that the cafe was now closed for a function & he needed us to vacate the premises immediately! (Yes they were his actual words!) I stated that he had literally just sold us the tea & flapjacks as he well knew. Why didn’t he tell us they were about to close? I asked him “Could we just finish our tea & then we would go?” Shockingly he said no & he would get us some takeaway cups! By this point I realized that the spinnaker tower staff don’t care about customers unless they are attending a function. Just like up in the sky bar previously staff were moving tables & running around preparing for a function & were happy to take our money but really just wanted us out so the could focus on what really matters to them, the upcoming function. On this occasion we were outside & they were preparing the inside. Would it have hurt to let us finish our tea! Its not like it was a full meal & they chose to serve us & not let us know their plans. We asked for a refund as I think being treated like that is disgusting plus he wasn’t going to let us drink our tea or eat our flapjacks anyway. They did give us a refund which took ages & may I add that if they had just let us finish we could have been gone before the refund went through. I will never go back. We’ve seen the view so hey ho. I don’t trust that the staff are going to treat my family with respect when we visit as they never have before. Both times we were treated like second class citizens lower than their function guests who both times hadn’t even arrived yet. Very disappointing.

2nd time we have visited after a reasonable first visit. It confirmed we would not be eating here again. It’s expensive for what it is- probably for the tourists to sit in the Spinnaker and have food, wouldn’t bother so many better places around. When we first arrived I asked the table to be cleaned, the girl said yes but was grumpy and even managed to spray me with the cleaning spray! We ordered an omelette with mushrooms peppers and bacon and a bacon roll with 2 teas. The tea isn’t even a decent brand so again for the price is unreasonable. For the price they charge could give you a more upmarket tea bag! Cutlery and cups looking like just come out dishwasher so wet and a bit bubbly. Food was reasonable quick. Bacon roll was fine, bacon well down like asked but the omelette looked like it was cooked in plastic, it was rubbery and hard burnt around the edges. When you opened it a bacon rasher or so cut in thin strips and just thrown in there with half a pepper and no mushrooms. We were expecting a nice fluffy omelette that had these ingredients mixed in. It was completely inedible . I took it back to the counter and did get a refund but judging by pictures I have since seen on here I was wondering why they are still serving it! Will not be revisiting. Even for a tea and it’s overpriced and not worth it. I will say majority of the staff friendly and helpful.

First impressions were good as my wife went into order some coffees and said that the food looked nice. The surroundings inside are quite basic looking, we sat outside as the weather was glorious. After half an hour, we decided to order our food here too. I went to order it and was told that there was no baguettes, so for my wife I ordered prawn and rose Marie sauce on brown bread and I ordered a fish finger and tartar sauce sandwich. So when both sandwiches arrived, they had no butter, my wife's sandwich was toasted, which was not asked for. Which to me seems so wrong as you don't put hot toast with cold prawns. My sandwich had no tartar sauce on it, so it was completely dry as there was no butter on mine either. This is my favourite sandwich and never has it been served without butter or tartar sauce on the sandwich. On the menu it states, fish finger and tartar sauce sandwich. So we took both sandwiches back in and explained, there was no apology. It came across as an attitude and big inconvenience from the male waiter. Eventually a pot of tartar sauce was brought to us outside with no apology. Then my wife's prawn sandwich came out, no butter and an extremely tight filling. One sandwich just had a third of a filling, little side salad was dry and no dressing on it. Crisps were stale, when the sandwich came out, it was just handed to me with no smile or apology. We love coming to Portsmouth and sitting to look over the Solent with some nice food, but we will definitely not be eating here again.

My wife had something stuck in her throat and she was coughing a lot, we just needed some water urgently. No one paid any attention, and the other female employee was left helplessly watching her friend's rudeness. Something could have happened to my wife there. Such a thing would not be appropriate or acceptable anywhere in the world. My Spinnaker Tower breakfast experience was disappointing. Despite a 30-minute wait, the food quality fell short. I ordered poached eggs on granary toast but received hard-boiled eggs on cheap brown-sliced bread. The eggs were oddly overcooked on the outside and undercooked in the middle. Even the flat white was disappointing, resembling hot dishwater. The redeeming factor was the incredible view during the clear sunny day, although the tower tour didn't make up for the lackluster breakfast.

We came to the Spinnaker as a start to our day trip to Ryde and wanted breakfast first . Lots of tables a few were reserved in the window and so we chose a round centre table which turned out to be very wobbly and so we moved. I chose the scrambled eggs on farmhouse granary toast and a flat white. The coffee came first and I suspect that regardless off type of coffee ordered it would all be the same. Just average white coffee! We then waited for quite some time for our food. The eggs weren’t cooked to order and we’re obviously batch scrambled eggs kept warm and the toast wasn’t farmhouse granary but supermarket sliced brown. Very disappointing especially as there are a hundred other options nearby. We didn’t complain at the time because we had a packed day ahead and didn’t want to waste time. Otherwise we would have asked for our money back.

Nice scenery however the service and food was disappointing. Got 2 teas and toasties. Where I had to ask for milk then when the toasties arrived the salad looked like it was a week old and didn’t look washed. No cuttlery with it so went asked a member of staff who gave me 2 sets of knives and forks which were covered in dried food. The tables outside were very dirty and although staff were collecting plates they weren’t cleaning the table. First time of using but won’t be going back

I've lived for years in Portsmouth and often visit Gunwharf Quays but today was my first visit to the Spinnaker Kitchen. I only had a soya cappuccino and biscuit so can't commet on the food. But, the service was excellent. They were busy and the young team worked well together. My order was taken promptly and my coffee was exactly as requested. I will definitely be returning.

After visiting the Spinnaker Tower, we decided to come to the Kitchen for some lunch. Cashier couldn't work the till and overcharged us. Supervisor had to be called and then had to call the manager before it finally got sorted. Table was dirty and I had to ask for it to be cleaned and to refill the empty sugar container. When the food arrived my soup bowl had 2 chips which was off-putting. The waitress and chef had a great laugh over it, gesturing over towards me when I sent it back for another bowl. Other than the lukewarm soup, we did think the food was nice but as service and cleanliness all contribute to the experience, I would have to say it was poor. Wouldn't recommend.

After visiting the tower we thought we’d enjoy a cream tea here.Don’t bother! My son ordered 4 cream teas and the servers couldn’t get it right. We were given two then 20 mins later after some delegation from me and some very rude staff comments we finally got our other ones, even then we were missing some milk for the teas but we didn’t want more confrontation. The scones were dry and just crumbled to nothing which is not good.I’m an assistant manager in a tearoom and I would be retraining my staff if they were anything like this lot and my food supplier would be challenged on the scone quality. We were not the only customers with wrong orders and rude comments. To be honest it was a complete shambles. The cafe itself was clean and airy but then the visit to the WC happened…. Dirty floors,no soap and no toilet rolls in two cubicles. They clearly hadn’t been checked. All in all a very poor show for such a great attraction.

Ordered two eggs Benedict and a bottle of water, she took the money then told me they don't have any water and would refund me which would take a couple of days, then served up two uncooked muffins, with greasy bacon, poached eggs and some sort of sauce on top, had two bites and left, nice location but that was as good as it got.

Cafe turned out to be really good. The location of this place means you get to see the harbour. There are plenty of seats outdoor and indoor. The veggie breakfast was excellent. Staff were amazing. They were professional and accommodating to our needs. Will definitely go back in when in Portsmouth.

We popped in on a weekday afternoon in May. Lots of seating inside and out. Great views. We had a baguette and cake and both were great, the baguette was warm like it had just been baked. It's not clear how to order, but best find a table and order from the counter.

I have given 2 stars because the views are great but regrettably my scrambled eggs on toast were like cold rubber pieces on dry toast (no butter). I should have complained but we were catching a train and didn’t have time to make a fuss. We won’t however visit again.

Disappointed with this establishment, the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired 😱😱😱 we were expensive compared to what we were offered. We arrived at 2:30 p.m., the staff was walking in circles when the tables and the floor should have been cleaned, the state of the salt cellars was deplorable. Run away if it's not too late 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Stopped off in here on a very wet and windy Sunday around brunch time with the family. Views are fantastic even with the weather, kept the children busy watching all the boats while waiting for food. We all went with the Hampshire full English and the kids managed to share an adult meal. Prices are pretty reasonable for the location, service was fast and efficient. Portions is very generous, I'm just missing maybe my black pudding and an extra egg to make it a proper full English. But the food was freshly cooked and the sausages, bacon was very good quality. Lovely soft yolk fried egg, nice portabello mushrooms and very generous portion of beans. Very filling and satisfying in a great location and atmosphere. Would love to visit again

We ordered 1 x Veggie & 1 x Full Hampshire Breakfasts. I can't eat mushrooms so requested not to have them, but they still arrived on my plate (so went to waste), we also requested some brown sauce to accompany the breakfast, a must for me (& others no doubt !) - but they didn't have any, not even in the store cupboard I was told... With these 2 simple requests not fulfilled, they were kind of on the back foot already. But I must say (even without the sauce !), the food was really nice - and plentiful - the toast was advertised as bloomer, but we had I would have almost given the 5* review, but just can't due to those reasons... (I actually still can't believe they didn't have any brown sauce !!)

Veggie breakfast is really good, however my hot chocolate was made with water and was super weak. Veggie sausage roll buns were cold and looked like it had been thrown on the plate, only pro was that it tasted nice. Mushroom Benedict was okay but presentation was poor. Staff are really nice but it’s more like a canteen rather than a cafe and not very welcoming. Price is not worth it, you’re simply paying for the views. Only recommend if you need to go for a small bite.

Really poor and unappetising lunch offer with limp salad, almost incinerated jacket potato and nearly ‘raw’ cheese and ham toasty with little evidence of toasting + a refusal to provide butter for the jacket potato although this is listed on the menu. Disappointing food and customer service. This venue used to be better, so wonder if there has been a change in management?

I was I there yesterday with my son and daughter I law. We ordered 2 sausage and bacon baps with one without butter and 2 slicess of toast . The baps came out both with butter so we sent it back and had to wait 20 mins for another one. We had to chase the toast which appeared 35 mins later and didn't look as if it had been in the toaster. Never again will we go in there. Very disappointing.

Fab location, away from the hustle and bustle of Gunwharf, excellent coffee and pastries and fantastic view. I gave it 4 stars because it's not the most relaxing of cafes. Ordered wings and chips here quite a while ago. The wings were dry and the chicken is from low-to-reasonable quality but the chips were surprisingly good, quite crispy and fluffy inside but still slightly overcooked. Staff were friendly too. If you are on a night-out after some heavy drinking, this place is definitely your best bet considering what's nearby. Much better than PCK4U and Kens nearby. Avoid them like the plague and come here instead.

Ordered a pizza from this dominoes this evening and they put onion on my pizza which I'm allergic too. They told me they'd replace the pizza, the delivery driver then showed up to the hotel I was staying in and demanded me to bring the pizza down with onion on to prove it had onion on which I refused as I thought this was unacceptable. The manager then got irate with me on the phone and stated that I was wasting his time. The fact they didn't belive me and refused to replace the pizza it's utterly shocking when you spend £25+ for one pizza. Abysmal customer service.
