Great Sunday lunch turkey that wasn't dry mash wasn't lumpy and roasty was great as well beef was brilliant parsnips was lovely

Went to the Spinks Nest for a light bite and a glass of wine with my partner. What a delightful man the chef was he recommended the chicken wings with bbq sauce and we had spicy nachos with fresh chilli,cheese,and guacamole. It was delicious. I then asked for a take home box as the light bite was to tide us on till teatime and we were full. I would highly recommend you drop in and have some of the delicious food on offer and the prices are reasonable too.

The Spinks has recently changed hands again and the Landlord (previously from The Bay Horse) was very friendly. The service was quick for both drinks and the food. The pub was busier than last time we went, which was nice to see. It would be really good for it to re-establish itself, especially in these 'tough' times.

I had been here before and didn’t have a great experience so was pleasantly surprised after calling in after a visit to the cemetery on Father’s Day for a quick drink had my 2 dogs with me who were equally welcomed. Decided to give the menu a try and wasn’t disappointed had the veg pie chips and seasonal veg was very nice indeed. The place looked so much cleaner than i remember and the staff were very pleasant, the manager introduced himself to us and explained he had just taken over the day before. Well done all keep up the good work we will definitely be calling again 😃

I know this establishment has changed hands recently and it is early days but the following is my experience of the last two visits. On the first I visited on a Friday evening I ordered a chicken pie , gravy , with vegetables and skin on fries , it was delivered without the skin on fries on both dishes so I had to return both dishes to the waitress and wait until the skin on fries were cooked before the meals were returned to us. Today at lunchtime I ordered steak and ale pie , gravy, skin on fries and vegetables. It was delivered promptly by the waitress but without the vegetables but with a salad garnish. Not sure who is monitoring the staff but clearly something is wrong. Maybe lots of people request gravy with their salad at lunchtime! An apology would have helped but was not given by either the chef or the waitress.

Bland food, undercooked chips and pepsi lacking syrup. New ownership however very inexperienced.. I couldn't encourage anyone to ever eat here, even if the food was free. Hope they learn very fast or I cannot see this working out for them.

Use to love it here last owners were lovely, went with my daughter last week, the woman at the bar was rude and disinterested, then when the food came well.. my chicken looked pink but I assumed it was from having the bacon on top, not only did my chip have a dead fly on it, but when I lifted up my bacon?? A fly flew out from under it 🤢 I had to leave the majority of my meal not sure if the stomach cramps the next day were coincidence. Having severe anxiety I couldn’t even take the food back to complain

Went to the Spinks after the pub had changed ownership and the way it has gone so downhill so quickly I won’t be going back. We arrived for drinks around 4pm. Pub was quiet and was served straight away. The girl behind the bar had no idea what drinks they served, couldn’t use the till properly and didn’t even look old enough to work behind a bar. Another girl was working, glasses and long brown hair, who told us if we had a problem to not come back. Completely unjustified as I had only asked what drinks they serve that are not alcohol. Not hard to tell me the soft drink options instead of assuming I had a problem. That was just the start of it. - Chefs leaving the kitchen in their chef ‘whites’ since they were black. Going out smoking in their chef uniform. Just doesn’t look very professional. - One toilet in the ladies not having a toilet seat on. - one of the bar staff talking loud enough for me to hear he had some drugs in his pocket for ‘around a week’ and about how he ‘only sniffs now’. If you want a dirty pub go to Spinks. If not avoid.

Rachel and jack were fantastic the food was amazing couldnt do enough to keep the kids happy we will definitely be going again. Rachel was bang on with service cant thank her enough! It was the least stressful meal weve ever been for with the kids and that im thankful to the staff for thanks guys and have a fantastic Christmas xxx

I’ve been coming to this pub my whole life. It astounds me how bad this once great pub that was the heart of the community has been dragged into the gutter. Bar managers are too busy taking drugs behind the bar to care about customers and there is a serious hygiene problem with some of the staff. It is sad to see a local pub closed half of the week. Not everybody is in to drag queens which seems to be the entertainment provided 3 times a week.

Came over summer and there was no food being served. Management staff really rude. Management here is atrocious. Drag is not everyone’s thing seems to be the thing in this pub ???

A great local enhanced by Patrick (the barman) who works so hard to make sure the customers are happy. I echo that he is a huge asset to the company.

Love visiting here. Patrick is just fantastic. There isn’t a time where he doesn’t serve us without a smile. The service is great & so is the food and drinks. What more could we ask for.

We chose to revisit this pub for a drink after a pleasant meal a couple of weeks ago. We truly wish we hadn’t. Upon entering the bar at approx 6pm (so not late for a family) there was a group of customers profusely swearing (every other word a F word) and spouting appalling racism. The staff did nothing to ask them to refrain from such behaviour so we chose to sit outside so as not to listen to it. We made this clear to the staff. Unfortunately out there wasn’t much better as another group were swearing and arguing with each other as well as falling over and nearly into our table. Now I appreciate that these “adults” should know to moderate their behaviour better, but they clearly were never going to. The staff didn’t seem bothered in the slightest. We will not be returning.

Me and my partner went for a meal New Years Day and wanted something local to Huddersfield that do 'Pub Grub' We had the nacho starter to share together. The nachos were great accompanied with all sauces. We decided to share so we wasnt too full for our mains. For the main course my partner ordered the classic steaks and chips and he couldn't fault it. The steak was good to medium rare just as he likes it, the chips were crispy and freshly cooked. For my main I had the tandoori chicken burger. Excellent bread, nice and soft. Tandoori chicken wasnt dry and lightly spiced and again the chips were hot and fresh. We will definitely visit again and the team working was really friendly and welcoming.

Booked a table online and caught a taxi there. On arrival was told 'how your not expecting food' by one of the bar staff. They knew nothing of the booking and obviously couldn't care less. Won't be going again

I've just read the review below and hate that people only join trip advisor to be negative. We had a great lunch, there were 4 of us, we were served by Tom. The service was great and our food, 4 perfectly cooked steaks were lovely.We will be back.

First off drinks seemed flat coke and lemonade 2nd orderd 2x chicken with chilli and nachos no chilli in site just jalapenos out of a jar cold absolutely gutted with our meals didn't complain just wont be going there ever again

Have been here in the past but we went here for our Sizzlers lunch today and had a wonderful cooked meal and a fantastic sweet.

Four of us visited for a meal. When the food arrived mine came with rice although I had ordered chips, although they did immediately offer to bring some chips. The sweet chilli crispy beef had about a teaspoon of sweet chilli sauce. The Mexican chicken didn't have the jalapenos referred to on the menu. Another meal was supposed to be hunters chicken, southern fried chicken and buttermilk chicken but consisted of three chicken breasts hunter style - except without the barbecue sauce. When we complained they produced a jug of barbecue sauce which was plonked down on the table without a word. I understand the chef was new, but come on folks, serve what's on the menu and if you can't, say so when it's ordered.

Ive been here many many times as im very local i ordered the super salad with bacon and chicken with mint flavoured which i have had before and it was delicious, however i have to say on this occasion it was dreddful, the bacon was burnt and tasted like it was cooked on a dirty grill and the lettuce was inedible it was very gritty like it hadn’t been washed I couldn’t taste the mint at all therefore left most of it, We also had a side of garlic bread which again was burnt.I’m Not one to complain as i dont see the point what would they have done washed the lettuce? .. i will visit this pub again for drinks more than anything however i will be very careful about what kind of food i order..

12 of us visited last Saturday. We hadn't booked so were unsure if they could feed us. The staff found us a place for all of us to be seated and couldn't be more welcoming. Food was great, the drinks reasonably priced. We'll be back

I was truly impressed with my early evening visit to this pub. The staff were friendly and attentive and really did everything they could to welcome me and to make sure I got everything I wanted. My pint of John Smiths was top notch and the food was really delicious. I happened to choose two veggie dishes and wondered whether they might be a bit insipid but they were very tasty and satisfying. Someone has put serious thought into the menu and the staff I had contact with were making big efforts to make sure each customer was well looked after.

This place served me the most disgusting pint of John Smiths bitter i have ever been served.And whoever is responsible ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Called in for lunch with our family and had the £8.50 for two meal deal with my husband, we both had the chilli which was very good, served with rice, nachos and sour cream. Hubby is not keen on rice, so swapped for chips which was no problem. Not fine dining, but good value for money, the sizzling dishes looked great and we would of tried them if we had been that hungry. The other four family members chose from the main menu and all enjoyed their meals, the chicken tikka sub with a drink was also tasty and really good value. Staff are polite and friendly, a special thanks to Julie who also took time to help a couple of out of towners with some local knowledge

Went for a meal with my boyfriend and we really enjoyed it. The pub is spacious with lots of parking. Nice cosy atmosphere and the food is not only reasonable it's delicious too. We keep coming back.

A perfect evening out exceptional brilliant customer service from Hannah, the assistant manager, she was friendly, helpful, and made sure all are needs were met, Tom the bar staff very mannerable and friendly food fantastic as usual. Could not recommend enough.

Visiting daughter and went to a nearby park, so the closest food pub was this. Nice big country style pub with plenty of parking. Went in around back door and into lounge area on a Saturday afternoon, not very busy so plenty of tables to choose from. Went to bar and ordered food , I had steak pie, chips and peas which was good at £7.29. My daughter had bbq chicken burger with chips which had a free soft drink at £7.59. Bar staff friendly and welcoming so a good choice.
