Spice Master in West Berkshire

I came here with my girlfriend to celebrate 2 years together and could not have faulted a single thing in the restaurant. I grew up going to Indian restaurants with my parents and one of the main things I missed after going to university was a good curry, having our 2 year anniversary coming up we wanted to look for a nice restaurant and found this, the only 5 star Indian restaurant on trip advisor in the reading area and no wonder it wasWe came in on Monday night so it wasn’t particularly busy at all, but we were looked after brilliantly and the waiter regularly came to make sure everything was okay, that brings us onto the food which was honestly the best curry I’ve ever had, with a prawn puree starter that was simply exquisite. We didn’t have a dessert because we were simply too full from the 2 previous courses but assuming that the quality remains consistent, that would also be class.All in all this is a restaurant I’m definitely glad I went to before I graduate, and one that I’m going to miss once I do. I would 100% recommend anyone in the Reading area come to it, it’s even more than reasonably priced for the quality

We had a brilliant time at the Sunday buffet. Food was replenished several times and was amazing at great value for what we had. Lovely time with the family with welcoming staff that were great with our daughter, couldn't of asked for better!

Just eaten at Master spice and had the Sunday buffet. The restaurant is clean and looks modern The food was lovely , great value for money Will definitely come back .

The staff are so welcoming here and attentive, aswell as taking the time to make you feel comfortable and remember the smaller details (like your name - which gave it a personal touch). I'm vegan and often struggle in Indian restaurants but here I was told I could have any dish and the chef can make it suitable for my dietary requirements - it's great knowing everything is made fresh and to order. The food was delicious, full of flavour and good portion sizes. Overall we were really impressed with this restaurant and will definitely be returning - thank you!

Myself and my partner took to Trip Advisor to book an Indian meal and came across this place. It was very much a ‘locals’ restaurant. The staff knew most customers by name (which we liked). The atmosphere was buzzing and the food was absolutely gorgeous. Nicest Indian meal I’ve ever had!! Then Ronnie and his brother served us and we felt very looked after and comfortable. Amazing food and very friendly staff. Been here a number of times and its always just as good if not better than last time. Especially love some of the house special dishes such as the Duck Tamarind. Would definitely recommend.

We called up the spice master the day before & they managed to get us on a table The place was busy but they brought in extra staff to help We didn’t have to wait too long for food considering how busy they were & it didn’t disappoint ,really tastyOverall a fantastic evening & great atmosphere

Went out with my family for our local curry. So lucky to have this on our doorstep! The waiters go out of their way to attend you, the food is absolutely delicious! The ambiance creates a great evening, we will keep coming back!

We were visiting from Devon where flavoursome curry is difficult to find. We were not disappointed; the staff were welcoming and attentive without being over-the-top, and offered good advice on the heat of each dish to suit the range of palates in our party. The food was delicious, that's all I can say. Fluffy rice, hot soft naan and tasty curries. Well worth the drive out from Reading town centre.

The best dish me and my wife had. Full of flavour and best curry we had in Tilehurst out of all Indian. My wife had a dish with honey and I had the sizzling and both of the dish were outstanding. We will be ordering from you spice master from now on.

Came here with my freinds as they love this place. The service at spicemaster was on point. The staff was super attentive but I was quite disappointed with the food. I could only taste tomatoes in the dish I ordered and the onion Bhajis were a bit oily and not soft which were very hard to eat. I hope this review helps to bring some improvements in your business . I will give this place a one more chance and will be visiting soon.

The whole experience from start to finish was absolutely amazing! We went there on 20/10/21 for our anniversary. Outstanding service and delicious food. Lovely gentlemen who was at the front of the house was so attentive, professional and friendly. He recommended a dish for me which I absolutely loved. Our favourite place so far! We were blown away with both service and the food! Even got a drink on the house which was such a lovely gesture. Thank you for making our evening so lovely. I would highly recommend this place to everyone!!

*Review is for takeaway*Ordered a curry, samosa and a side from here and can’t say I was impressed. I saw the place had really good reviews so it’s such a downer to have to criticise it like this, but I wasn’t too happy with my order. The curry was very watery to the point where I tipped it into a bowl and there was water floating on top of my meal. The samosas, for £3.50 I only got TWO and they weren’t big, please tell me this was a mistake. The rice was okay but that is aside from the point. Again, I didn’t want to be the one to post a negative review but I would suggest the takeaway side of things be looked into.

We were passing by and looked at the reviews and the food is fantastic. The staff were so lovely as well. Wish we were close enough. If anyone looking for the full experience of an Indian restaurant then you should go in

Had a terrible experience at spice master a few weeks ago. I visited with my dad due to the fantastic reviews on trip advisor but it did not reach the expectations I had based on the reviews. the customer service was so bad due to the fact that we were sat for 25 mins and still did not receive a menu. I have never experienced a service like this before. definitely do not recommend it. not even worth a second chance.

We go here a lot. The customer service and the food is just make us feel like home. Actually my family could say it’s our second house because my dad loves the boys and we come here twice a month. We try a new dish every week and they make some new dish to our taste and how we like it. Best curry house in Berkshire.

I went to this establishment and expected a well rounded buffet and was given complimentary naans. The “ garlic naan “ was dry, burnt and had no garlic taste. The buffet was 5 selections at most and not the best. Taste of tandoori across the road is way better.

An exceptional restaurant. Clean and modern design, unusually friendly and professional staff and great value. Ultimately restaurants are about food - five of us are vegetarian and the range a d quality was exceptional. We live in Dubai and food of this quality reminded us of the huge range of Indian restaurants in the Al Karama area. Highly recommended and certainly not a big standard UK curry house!

Tasty food, Lovely fresh flavours, and welcoming owner. Busy with what seems to be regulars, even on a Tuesday night, and deservedly so. A bit out of the way in a residential area in Tilehurst, but worth travelling out to, room to park, or easy to get to on the no. 17 bus. Happy to recommend this restaurant and this will definitely be our go -to Indian restaurant when we are next in Tilehurst.

We have just enjoyed the very best Indian food this evening from Spice Master Reading. The delivery was superb, and the food was indeed better than any we have ever had. Thank you Spice Master we will now be regular customers.

Wonderful food,family run.Staff are on the ball and interactive.You wouldent necessary look from the outside and think wow but read the reviews and try for yourself.Has unique dishes and the best bhajis we have ever had,informative information on how they are hand made by a skilled/well travelled chef in the kitchen.Excellant

My family and I came for a Birthday meal and I can’t think of one bad thing to say! The restaurant was modern and clean with a really friendly atmosphere thanks to how thoughtful and hospitable the waiter was. The food was delicious and fresh, we all thoroughly enjoyed it! Hands down best Naan in town, best atmosphere, so friendly, reasonably priced, so much flavour and large portions! The two brothers that work there know how to make you feel welcome.

Couldn’t find any fault whatsoever on our visit this evening. Absolutely delicious hot food and attention to detail with presentation was superb even down to the hot towels and chocolates towards the end of our experience. Large portions and excellent value for money!

We had starters of pakora chicken and the mixed grill. Mains of chicken and lamb kahari and saag aloo. Food was delicately cooked, meat fell apart, sauces were deep, rich and well spiced. Best saag aloo I’ve ever had. Ronnie our server took obvious pride in the restaurant and it was an overall wonderful evening. Beer was a little pricey, but overall it was worth every penny IMO.

Not in a very visible spot but worth a visit! It was the first time for us in this place but the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The food was also nice with quite a lot of options available.

Lovely b'day meal out with friends. Never been here before but saw the good reviews on here. Did not disappoint. Really friendly attentive staff who even let us take over the music system. Good food and great customer service. Thoroughly enjoyable evening.

A very impromptu visit was going to have takeaway but stayed instead, the waiter was great very attentive especially as he had a big party in and a few small tables. The waiter stayed came we never felt like we had to wait, food was steaming hot and tasted great.

Love this place. Food was incredible. A lovely clean and neat restaurant. Lots of choice and plenty of food. Onion Bhaji was spot on and the rest of the meal was some of the best I have tasted. All of the staff were super friendly and Ronnie was one of the nicest guys, very polite, friendly and attentive. I would not hesitate to recommend this place and will be going to visit here again very soon.

This is a local restaurant to me and we have had takeaway from here before and loved it. This is why we decided to go out for a meal there last night plus it was walking distance so we could have a few drinks. What an amazing friendly family run restaurant from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. We went to order off the menu sticking to what we knew, he then recommended both of us different dishes that we may like due to are original choice. We went ahead and went with his recommendation and wow the food was absolutely amazing,the best Indian food I have ever had. I've could not fault the service or food. We felt so welcomed and the staff were so chatty and lovely .already putting I'm my diary the next visit. Will fully recommend this restaurant for a really nice time out

The food was absolutely superb, it came very quickly after ordering and tasted very fresh. The onion bhajis were especially nice! Spoke to Ronnie, the front of house who explained some of the cooking techniques, top man! See you soon!!

In brief:- Very engaging warm welcome, arrived quite late in the evening and they were super accommodating.- Presently I’m eating plant based I gave him my preferences and I asked for a recommendation and it was probably the most consideration I’ve had from someone talking through options. They ended up making me something off menu that they thought would tick the boxes.- The food was really good! We were so pleased we went there and only disappointed we couldn’t make it a regular as we aren’t typically in the area.- Service was 5*

We come here very often because not only is the service wonderful, the food exceeds expectations every time. We’ve had takeaways that have been superb and often treat ourselves to a dine out because the staff are so attentive. Excellent night at Spicemaster - hadn't been before but Ronnie and team really welcoming and accommodating. Food delicious, even the prawn curry listed as hot was actually HOT unlike many restaurants so husband very pleased. Really enjoyable evening will definitely go back.

Brilliant buffet plus poppadoms cobra beer 5 star night Ronnie was fabulous totally enjoyable evening service was fast and efficient would recommend this restaurant to anybody and all for just £28.

We were visiting my son and unfamiliar with the area I searched tripadvisor for Indian restaurants. I came across this establishment and after reading the reviews decided it was a must try. Well we were not disappointed. The staff here are delightful, so welcoming and friendly. The food was gorgeous, authentic and exceeded our expectations. So pleased to have found this little gem.

A truly excellent restaurant, the service was second to none. Attentive and friendly, also gave us helpful advice about the curries they do and spice levels etc. the chicken chilli Masala was incredible. I have been looking for a curry house for while. I live in caversham and saw the Facebook Add and given a try at spice master. The food is so delicious. Also the people who works at the front house is amazing and have a good knowledge of curry.I would definitely recommend them. If you want to have a good meal then the master is the best

We ordered some food for the first time from Spice Master as we wanted to try somewhere different. The manager was very welcoming and even gave me a complimentary bottle of cobra to take home with me. The food was lovely and there was plenty of it. This is the best Indian takeaway we have had and I will definitely get it again

Yet again as normal i had the most amazing food freshly cooked and super tasty. First class customer service and nothing is too.much trouble. Spent ages on the phone, it even felt like I was the one having to convince them to take my money at times. They phoned back for me to pay rather than take it when I first asked to do it.When it finally arrived at our house it felt like it had all just been thrown together. The only thing we enjoyed was the starter, everything else was gross.

We hadn't been there for many years so thought the quality of food could have changed but sadly it hasn't. Wouldn't go there again.

My girlfriend took me for dinner at Spice Master for my 21st birthday, voted the top Indian restaurant in Reading. She had secretly planned to let the restaurant know it was my birthday. To my surprise they tactfully played Happy Birthday over the speakers as they brought a delicious (free) ice cream dessert and offered us drinks on the house! Prior to this, the service from the two waiters was wonderful, they offered pop Adam’s to start, suggested good menu recommendations (with the opportunity to send it back if we didn’t like the waiter’s recommendation) and the curries, rice and naan bread were delicious. The service was quick, thought it was quite empty at 6pm on a Tuesday night. A brilliant birthday memory.

Always exceeds expectations. Been to many Curry houses in Reading and this is by far in the shortlist to revisit. Fresh crisp pints with flavoursome food and as always the service and recommendations are what take me and my family back again and again.

Probably the most disappointing Indian I have had in a very long time. We made the effort to go to Spice Master based on the excellent reviews however at best this for me is a 1 star establishment. The service was slow and the food was bland and underwhelming. I can only assume they had a bad night but I won’t be returning.

My friend and I 'thought' we had reserved a table, alas not but they managed to accommodate us. Not only were they super friendly and efficient but the food they brought out to us was amazing, so tasty, all washed down with a great Rioca. So impressed, and we both will be going back as soon as this bloody lockdown is over - takeaway service from there till then!

The food was great but the service is what made our meal so extra special. The restaurant was very busy, yet the staff were extremely attentive and worked incredibly hard to keep everyone happy. We had 6 different dishes, all equally tasty. The dishes are obviously cooked fresh. The waiter went out of his way to find out what kind of dishes we enjoyed and tailored the menu to suit us. All staff were friendly. We will definitely be returning.

Brilliant meal last night! Most people were having the Sunday buffer, but we opted for the menu! Not disappointed, we shared a starters & main course, with a side dish & rice.Good portions, well presented, very tasty food!The waiter questioned whether we wanted “madras” hot, as this was our first visit!! We booked a table for four on Friday 9th October for a family dinner. The staff were welcoming from the moment we arrived and throughout the evening. The food was amazing and hot not ‘warm’. Would highly recommend!!

Found this place via a Google of best curry in Reading and was not disappointed. Will be back again. Very good mixed grill and some lovely veg dishes. I’m not going back to IKEA in reading without stopping here after.
