Lina Tandoori in West Berkshire

I recently visited this Indian restaurant in Pengburn, and I have to say, it was absolutely fantastic! The staff were extremely friendly, and the service was top-notch. The food was incredibly delicious, and the atmosphere was very welcoming. I highly recommend this restaurant and will most definitely visit it again!!

Second time visiting Lina Tandoori when writing this review, it definitely won't be the last time I visit! What a gem of a find this restaurant is. I first came across Lina Tandoori based on recommendations from a friend, I'm so glad they did recommend it as it's quickly become my favourite Tandoori. I have never had a better naan, they are absolutely delicious. Every dish on the menu impresses! On our second visit, we brought friends with us and they were hugely impressed too and hope to bring family to this restaurant in the future. The staff are all so friendly and kind. It is clear that the chef is passionate about what they do, making time to ask how the meal has been. Thank you Lina Tandoori for another excellent meal!

Very lovely restaurant with top notch food and staff.

Got to the restaurant at 6:40 after working in Pangbourne. Was surprised at how busy it was for a Tuesday. Seemed to be lots of locals in eating and waiting for takeaways. Phone ringing off the hook. Managed to get the last table and glad we did. Really lovely family run restaurant, everyone waxing lyrical about the food and obviously many returning customers. Food was delicious, beers were cold, popadoms and chutneys fresh and very reasonably priced. Ali the owner was very friendly and welcoming and very proud of his restaurant, family etc and rightly so. Seems to be a bit of an institution in Pangbourne and I would happily make the 50 minute journey to go again.

Honest the best Indian takeaway away I have had in a VERY long time. The lamb Jalfrezi was perfect. The lamb literally melted in you mouth! The naan bread as well was so perfect, I cannot wait to come back and I will be soon!

A Flavorful Feast: A Must-Try Curry Meal! We have recently moved to Pangbourne and really wanted to try Lina Tandoori for some time. Their curries are absolutely fantastic! My husband had Jalfrezi—a spicy, tangy delight that immediately woke up the taste buds. The sauce was rich but not overpowering, with the right amount of spices. I have opted for Dupazia, which was equally delicious. The tender lamb was cooked in aromatic sauce, making it the perfect contrast to the fiery kick of the Jalfrezi. The onions in the Dupazia added a lovely sweetness and crunch, which balanced the dish perfectly. For a side, I couldn’t resist the Sag Aloo, which was a brilliant choice. The spinach was wonderfully cooked, with a perfect blend of spices and soft potatoes that melted in your mouth. Of course, no curry meal is complete without naan, and the naan here was superb. It was soft, fluffy, and perfectly charred on the edges. It soaked up the curries wonderfully, making every mouthful even more enjoyable. If you love flavorful and authentic curries, I highly recommend giving this place a try! Definitely one of the best curry experiences we’ve had in a long time.

A fantastic little restaurant serving very good quality food. I say 'little' because there was about 20 of us and we virtually took over the whole restaurant! We had a combination mix of starters, all the usual stuff, Poppadum's, Samosa, Onion Bhaji & Chicken Tikka, etc. The main course was delicious! I went for the Tandoori Mixed Grill, WOW! I had a job to finish it (but I did!). If you want to experience a 'proper' family-run Indian restaurant then this is it. You will NOT be disappointed. We'll be back again, Ala, I hope we weren't to noisy!

My partner and I popped in here for dinner with our small dog post a nice long walk after reading the positive reviews. We were not disappointed. The service was fantastic, nothing was too much, and the young lady that talked us through the menu was ever so helpful. The food was simply sensational, the best Indian we've had outside of India, absolutely 10/10, we already can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. Would 100% recommend!

A real "small & friendly" hidden gem. Went there last night to meet a friend and we had a lovely meal. The nan breads in particular are some of the lightest, nicest ones I have had anywhere! The staff are so friendly and you can tell it is a family run business because they try so hard to make sure you have a nice experience.

This is without doubt one of the best curries I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating. Chef Ala from Bangladesh has absolutely created a destination curry house that probably deserves a Michelin star in all honesty. I’ve eaten at multiple Michelin starred curry establishments and whilst they were obviously very excellent, I believe that the Lina Tandoori would compete with the very best. Chef Ala is also a very keen marathon runner and doesn’t add any artificial flavourings or colourings to any of his dishes. He believes in great FRESH food. I asked how he gets his rice so perfect…. Rather than just tell me, chef took me into the kitchen to teach me how!! A masterclass. Can’t sing its praises highly enough and I will be back at every opportunity. Wonderful!

Absolutely the best Indian Restaurant in the area. I’ve been here many times to dine in and for takeaway. The food is always excellent, the service friendly and familiar and the atmosphere welcoming. 100% recommend here to anyone who loves a delicious curry

Well working away from home on Valentine’s Day they managed to squeeze me in to dine and what a great experience. Staff extremely welcoming and polite and the food was absolutely delicious. Also Ali what a star showed me his scrap book, curry awards , half marathons and just generally a great guy with great family around him. Will due to be back in the area for work and will certainly frequent this great place. Thanks guys.

This is a small and unpretentious restaurant, tucked away near the centre of Pangbourne. Just 7 or 8 tables, no frills or fancy decor - just great food, cooked by someone who cares. It's a family affair - Dad is the chef, his son is the sous; and his daughters run front of house (including busy takeaway orders). This is reflected in the service - which is attentive and friendly. They genuinely want you to enjoy your meal. The food is some way from that offered at more "generic" Indian restaurants - freshly prepared and cooked to order. Onion bhajis are light and crisp; the naga chicken is fiery but with subtle and complex flavours underlying the heat. The coconut rice is simply the best I've had . This place is going to be one of our regulars in the future.

Popped into this lovely restaurant whilst my wife had an appointment nearby. Made to feel so welcome by Ala Uddin & his staff, even though I was on my own on a busy Thursday evening. The food was simply outstanding. The king prawn puree was beautifully cooked, the sauce being tangy & spicy but not too hot. I followed this with the Chicken Rezalla, a dish I had never tried before. A great balance of spice, garlic, ginger with very tasty chicken. I love spice but not too hot Bangladeshi food & this was perfect. This was nicely balanced with pilau rice & a very lovely plain naan. The caramel ice cream cleaned the palate perfectly. As I'm not a big eater, they kindly packaged up what was left, so I could take it home. My son enjoyed the food as much as I did. Living a little way from Pangbourne disappointed it has taken me so long to experience the delights of this fabulous restaurant - I will be back very soon. Visited Lina Tandoori on a Tuesday night. Probably the best night as it was quiet. So was able to chat with friends without having to raise our voices to be heard. Lima is a lovely Tandoori. The host was amazing, went above and beyond our expectations. The food was really good. Full of flavour. Not greasy and 12 hours later I've not had a bad belly. Portion size was a little on the large size. But my god it was so good. Would I go back again? Absolutely. From the moment we stepped into the place. The host made us feel extremely welcome and important. This has to be the best Indian I have had in many years. A hidden little gem of an Indian restaurant. Hence I'm leaving this review. Think this will be the place I will visit once a month as I'm not local. But I will be back again soon. So if your in the Pangbourne area and fancy quiet Indian food. Then I'd highly recommend visiting Lina tandoori

Ate here before music event at Pangbourne Working Men's club. Parked in the "shoppers long stay car park" just off Whitchurch Road. Free in eve. (Pangbourne Wkg men's car park charges). So food was tasty enough, kind service - we sat downstairs - interior is very basic. We personally wouldn't go here for special event, but good enough for mid-week meal - they were busy with take-aways too.

A hidden gem in Pangbourne. One of the best curries I have ever had.

My family and I have been using Lina for many years and have a huge amount of respect for Ali and his family. The food is amazing and I strongly recommend eating their chicken shashlik, all the food is incredible. There is always a positive atmosphere with excellent service in the restaurant if you choose to dine in. Definitely get down there and try it you for yourself, I guarantee you will be coming back for more.

Small family run business really welcoming and friendly the food was excellent I travelled from London to try this curry house out and I do not regret it I'll be back again definitely I would definitely highly recommend this place

When in after a days training at Porsche Reading, And made welcome as soon as I walked in, the food was outstanding,the quality of the meat on the tandoori mixed grill was the best I’ve ever had. Will be definitely going back when next in the area👍

A proper Indian restaurant, great selection of dishes all cooked for you. It's not about speed it's about flavour. Delivered in spades. All portions are generous, I opted for a set menu for one, thinking it will be a number of smallish dishes, no, it's full size helpings. Thankfully as you can also get takeaway, my leftovers came home for another day. The only tiny problem was a lack of low alcohol beer, as a nominated driver you need it. Curry without beer is not a thing! Quickly sorted with a trip to the Co-op as the team had no objection to us drinking somewhere else's ale. What a sensible approach. That makes it my favourite Indian restaurant.

Visited here for the first time with family.The restaurant is very small.The staff are friendly and made us welcome.The menu is good and varied.The starters,mains,sides etc were all tasty and enjoyable.Portion sizes were good.I do think that the food cooled down very quickly and having eaten at many indian restaurants where they place hot trivets on the tables to keep food hot unfortunately this is not done here which is a shame. For desserts we had ice cream which had obviously been allowed to thaw or defrost and then re frozen so disappointing. Very disappointed also with the toilet just one toilet for customers extremely small sink watered down soap.

Great service, really good curries too

Stopped for a spontaneous takeaway. Everything was delicious and fresh. On the more expensive end for a takeaway but definitely worth it for a treat.

Absolutely delicious food, and ever so fresh tasting. Great service as well 😊 chicken Dhansak was one of the best we’ve ever tasted, and the Tandoori King prawns were fabulous.

On a quiet Monday night, we were made very welcome by Ali and his wife. The food was all excellent, as was the service. Ali insisted on showing us the kitchen, and also a book of his awards and lifetime achievements, of which he was justifiably proud. All in all a great experience. I will return.

Came here as I was staying at the George Hotel across the road. Ali who greeted me was a very nice guy. The food came out very quick and the portions were more than enough. Would definitely return if I stay in Pangbourne again.

We stopped by Lina Tandoori on our way back from a day out walking the Thames Path. The food was excellent, despite the accommodations made for the local area: paneer replaced by melted cheese, spice fire level a notch below typical. But the flavours were excellent and the ingredients were fresh. We had the chicken tandoori, which arrived sizzling, chickens korma and masala, bhindi/okra, mushrooms, peas (with aforementioned cheese rather than paneer), aloo gobi/cauliflower. Service fantastic.

This restaurant was great! We were visiting from out of town and stopped in for an early dinner. We got the chicken tikka masala and Lucknow chicken, as well as some poppadoms and the meat Samosas. The owner is incredibly personal and clearly passionate about what he does, which is definitely reflected in the amazing quality and taste of the food. This is some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had! I will be eating here again when I’m able to come back.

Our 1st visit to Lina Tandoori. Wow Ala and Arif have a great restaurant and are very attentive to deliver quality food to our requested needs. We had king prawn dansak, lamb dansak, sag and onion bhajis lemon and mushroom rices etc. The spicing and quality of ingredients was exceptional we have eaten Indian cuisine around the world and this was such a wonderful find….. Recently dined at Lina Tandoori for the first time - a very pleasant experience! I had booked a table in advance, which was ready for us on arrival. We were attended to quickly, and ordered our drinks and some poppodoms. These were super fresh when they came out, still warm, and we all loved the dips/chutneys! Our main dishes/sides were all piping hot when they came out. I had the Aloo Gobi, which was perfect for me - nicely spiced but not spicy! The garlic naan was also very flavourful. Everybody enjoyed their meals. The only small problem we had was the sun coming in through the window at the front of the restaurant, blinding a couple of us at times while sat at our table! The staff were all warm and friendly. The atmosphere was very personal, with the restaurant only having a handful of tables. Despite this, a nice atmosphere was still cultivated, which the Indian music complimented. A lovely touch was a couple of visits from the chef himself, shortly after arrival and to check all our food was okay. Its so nice to see a chef take real pride in the food and service they provide! This made the experience all the better, making it feel even more personal. We all agreed we would come back to Lina Tandoori, and will recommend it to others 🙂

Me and my friend came in for a takeaway the service was absolutely amazing, very friendly. Food was 10/10 we had a prawn biriyani and butter chicken and both dishes were packed with flavour. Definitely recommend!!

We booked a table very late one Friday evening as we were travelling from home to London. There was no problem at all with booking this later. It is a small family run restaurant and we met the owner and his two children who were working there. Food is really delicious - a lot of options to choose from. If we were passing through again, we would definitely revisit. Highly recommend!

Easily the best Curry in the area. Ali is a fantastic chef and a lovely man. Thoroughly enjoyed the king prawn puree starter, garlic chilli chicken, mushroom pilau and keema Nan I ordered washed down with a glass or two of Cobra. Fully recommended.
