Curry Cave in West Berkshire

The food was fantastic, tasted fresh, spicy and rich. Lots of dishes to choose from with a great range of flavours. Busy, which is always a good sign and the staff were fun, attentive but left you to your meal to enjoy. Best in Newbury at the moment!

The best curry in newbury, without a doubt! The bhuna is incredible. The waiters were a pleasure and always on hand for any requests. It made the beer go down much easier!

A first time delivery from Curry Cave will be a last time as well. My Chilli vegetable was tasteless with a mixture of under cooked vegetables (most of them) & mushy broccoli. My wife's vegetable korma on the other hand tasted all right but hardly any vegetables in the sauce. The garlic naan didn't taste of garlic and was very thick & undercooked. The pilau rice was nice! It was delivered well on time.

I've not been out for Indian since Jaipur sadly closed in early 2023 after the pandemic and was wary of finding my new go-to restaurant. I needn't have worried, Curry Cave is exceptional! Balance in the world has been restored. Keep it up guys.

Had a takeaway delivered. All great apart from spending £9.95 on the Seafood platter ..do not bother hardly anything to it, tiny!!...and it was all so soggy! waste of money. gutted

The food was actually very very nice. There was 6 of us and had no complaints at all. It was a Thursday night and averagely busy which I think helps. But yes nice guys and great food. I will be returning

This is a rather pokey place with food which is very poor. 3 out of 4 of us who dined yesterday had a bad night. It's very pricey with 3 pieces of chicken as a main course for both a tikka and another chicken dish. They then charged an extra £1.90 for a small pot of mint sauce and mango on top of the menu price. Sauces with the popadom are very pricey too. Rather moody and arrogant service and staff wizzing close to the table on their way to the kitchen which is located just past the latrines. Poor layout. this place was fairly ropey before the refurb and no better now. Never again.

I was outraged when I ordered from curry cave, the food came 40 minutes out of the time I specifically ordered, and it was cold! I will not be eating here again!

Ordered for delivery have done 3 times in the last two weeks and never was bad but tonight it took an hour and a half and was stone cold rang to complain to be greeted with we don’t do charity we’re not sending you free food! Joke of customer service

The best curry and food we have had and the service and welcome was excellent. Now we have discovered it we will be back soon.

This isn’t a place we would have tried as we walked past but it was the only place open and I’m glad we did. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was very good. I’ve only given 3 stars for atmosphere because we were the only ones there that early in the evening The tastiest food I’ve eaten in a long time, highly recommended

Take out. Positives. The chapattis were the best I've ever tasted. Ask for flat rather than thin as they didn't understand the word thin! The seafood platter was incredible. Saag Baji good. Poppadoms crisp and fresh. Negatives. Mint sauce tasted a bit strange. I like dry curry like shashlik, kebab and tandoori. I asked if they did something dry but different, I also wanted firey hot. and he suggested garlic chilli chicken with the sauce to be separate which I thought was kind. It was like chicken in sugar s o thick and sticky it was awful and the sauce tasted like tomato soup, absolutely disgusting. There was absolutely no chilli in this dish and I had to chuck it as it was so awful 😞 it's a shame the telephonists are in such a hurry to get your order in without a care for the customers needs. Still I've learnt my lesson, just go for the ordinary, choose your number and that's it, shame.

Absolutely the best curry we have had locally, if not the best curry we’ve ever had. Fresh spices, delicious dishes and very fresh. Unlike some each curry was completely unique and beautifully presented. Will be coming back again and recommending to friends and family.

Absolutely fab! First time ordering, the team were friendly when we collected and the food was delicious. Garlic chicken, balti, bhuna, tikka masala, all incredible and the rice was just great! Fluffy and a lovely flavour, mushroom rice was a big hit. Naan were also spot on, they are my favourite part of a curry and were wonderful. Would absolutely recommend the curry cave and they are now our go to for the area!

Overall food is very good.. Dine in experience was OK..Take away is always good.. Would surely recommend this restaurant for people in newbury...

Awful! Took an absolute age for my food to arrive and when it did there was hardly any meat in my dish - chicken curry 65. Garlic Naan was dry and not at all garlicky. My started was the mixed starter and that was the worst! Incredibly oily and fish items overdone and tastes as if they had been reheated multiple times. It’s relatively new so maybe it’s teething problems or no chef that night?

I had an exquisite dinner with Shahi Malai Tikka. Definitely an unique dishesh available from curry cave, hardly tasted else were. Highly recommend if you like grilled dashes.

Fantastic curry, 4 of us ate and shared and all 4 main dishes were very very good. All best Indian I have had in newbury. Also just had a a takeaway. Was ready for pick up on time and family all agreed it was our new favourite takeaway. The prawn puri started was fabulous.

Ordered on JustEat A very tasty, hot, well-packed meal :) I got plain naan, vegetable curry, chana masala, and pilau rice. The bag used contained a thick paper (not sure what to call it tbh) but it added stability to the bag, the containers were well-stacked and care was taken to prevent any spillages :) The chana masala and vegetable curry were absolutely incredible, both were well seasoned and the curry had a very good vegetable selection. Best chana masala I have had in years. Recommend both dishes 100% The rice was fluffy and the naan bread was well cooked. They could have been more flavourful though and if they were I would have given a 5 start review. Very good meal overall, a strong 4.5, almost a 5. Very close to a 5 honestly. A place I will order from in the future.

Nice takeaway, took about 20 mins from ordering to pick up. Really good sides. Shashlik was great with lots of veg. Korma was nice but not traditional, very cardamon heavy - just expect that. Lots of spring onion in mushroom rice. Overall, would order again.

What a find, I visited with a group of friends purely by chance as we were down the road and I'm so glad we did. The staff are really passionate about what they're doing and that shows in the food because its excellent. There is a varied menu compared to a lot of local restaurants and some great special dishes. I'll be ordering for delivery soon to see how their food "travels" and I'll be back in soon too. Great work guys!

Food was nice however at the end of the meal I noticed that the dips from my table were topped up at the bar and taken to another table. This is absolutely disgusting, once raised with staff they were very rude. Also found a piece of brown paper bag in my rice?! Would not recommend.

We were looking forward to trying this new restaurant that had good reviews. Very disappointed all round, service strange one, tables crammed in, decor done in one day, toilets less said the better. Food was average. Lamb was fatty and not tender and chicken dry...

I said yes thinking included as complimentary- went in to collect and charged £49.95 which thought was expensive for 3 mains 3 naan bread and one rice! After eating checked the menu and was over charged so rang to discuss. I asked for the manager who checked the till and went through the order and agreed £45 said he’d give a £5 voucher but as the food was mediocre I asked for refund. Apparently he was too busy to process that then and would call me back after 10pm. At 11.30pm still no call! I emailed this morning asking them to confirm the refund will be processed but as of now not heard a word from them. Customer service is seriously lacking and would not recommend them at all. Will be ordering from Chillis and Curry House again from now on

Ordered a pick up for a Friday dinner- clearly the best Indian food in Newbury! Food was ready to be picked up in 20 mins. Highly recommend the Malai chicken tikka (so succulent and juicy, thank goodness it’s not the overcooked dried up chicken that is sold elsewhere in the name of tikka). The Handi Adraki chicken curry was really good too- best part was the chicken which seemed to have been cooked in a tandoor before being added to the curry! Yummmmmmm… welcome to Newbury Curry Cave- we needed you!
