Amazing Indian food and great service. The quality of the meat is always exceptional and dishes tasty. We regularly eat here and it never disappoints.

Good Indian food - By an Indian

Came on a Tuesday night and it was quiet but the perfect evening. The service is second to none and the food is incredible. Everything from the poppadoms to the curries and the rice were perfect. Would recommend the pakoras, the Potato and cheese dumpling curry and the mysore chilli chicken but everything is nice. They are great with allergies and will do whatever spicy level you want! Have been lots of times of the years and it’s great!

This was our first Indian meal out as a family (we have been previously as a couple) and we had a great time. Service is exemplary, great selection of beers and the food is amazing. We all enjoyed what we ate and what I particularly like is that you can choose the heat of each dish so the menu is very flexible. Relatively easy to park in the evening for free down a nearby road or get the train as it's directly opposite the station. We'll be back for sure.

Never ceases to amaze me. A regular visitor. Is there a better Indian restaurant outside of India? Awesome. So lucky to have this on our doorstep.

No disputing the food but the prices have suddenly hiked up to the point where it out weighs the the flavoursome food....having been back many times not sure we'll return

The starters were flavoursome, we had the gobi 65 and chilli paneer. However given the price of the dishes I was expecting larger portions I.e. more paneer and less veg in the dish. We had the malai kofta for mains which had a good consistency but was lacking any flavour. My roti was dry and had a similar consistency to a popadom unfortunately. The garlic naan was better but again could have been more garlicky which would have helped compensate for the flavourless mains. Staff were attentive and accommodating and the service was good given it was a busy Friday night.

We were met by the most beautiful humble family … this is a family business, which they are rightfully very proud of. The food was exquisite.. authentic, lovely layers of spicing and excellent quality ingredients The service was excellent Definitely the best Indian food I’ve had ( and I’ve had a lot) If you go, you won’t be disappointed

Newbury's best Indian restaurant. I particularly recommend the Gobi 65 - but had an all-around awesome selection of vegan curries!

Had a great at Chilli's this evening, treated by two close friends. Great attentive service, food was very good indeed. Not expensive. Atmosphere was a little lacking. Maybe decoration, background music or something else might just raise the wow factor. Many thanks.

Fantastic vegetarian meal (palak dal and aubergine curry with roti) and enough to take home for dinner tomorrow! The aubergine curry was incredible - you could really taste the fresh ginger.

The chana masala is incredible one of the best i have had also the vegetable pakoras are to die for highly recommend they also are able to make certain dishes vegan if you have any dietary needs will be back for sure!!

Disappointing. Generally the food was good but the vegetarian side dishes are presented, and priced, as separate vegetarian meals. They are not; they are side dishes like any other Indian restaurant. The service was a let down. One of our party had a hair in her dish; the young waitress was unable to deal with this. A nervous giggle was all she could manage. Not her fault; clearly the waiting staff are not trained. But if you put a 12.5% service charge on the bill you need to be better than this.

Disappointed with last night’s meal, very bland, uninspiring, and over priced for what we received (popadoms, mixed starter, 2 mains, one rice and 2 large kingfisher beers = £78). *Popadoms - only came with two very average out of a jar (and poor quality) mango chutney and a long-life off the shelf mint raita, no onion salad and/or lime pickle. Worrying start. *Mixed Starters for two - was just a bit weird, it was the most Anglo-Indian plate I’ve seen, one stodgy samosa cut in half, 2 soggy battered bits of fish, two mushrooms, a pile of fried chicken and peppers and two more artificial tasting dips straight out of a bottle - all extremely disappointing and frankly unappetising. *Mains - we chose one Special Chili’s Chicken dish and one Lamb Rogan Josh and one Pilau rice. The redeeming factor is that the meat in both dishes were good and succulent, but the Rogan Josh was tasteless, utterly bland, and the chicken dish was slightly better with a stronger garlic taste. We asked for them to be hot and, at best, they were medium spiced. The rice was tasty but an unappetising brown in colour, and when served on a brown plate, quite literally all the items together seemed to just camouflage into the background. There was no sign of any vegetables - peppers, chillies, okra, mushrooms, or anything in either dish, just meat and gravy - considering they were north of £14 each it was, I’ll use that word again, very uninspiring. The restaurant itself was okay as was the service, but based on the food alone I will not be heading back due to the overall very disappointing experience - have they lost their chef?

Watery bland tasteless food. The delivery came with two smashed up popadoms that I had paid for. Onion bhajis were cold. The rest of the £60 meal for two was watered down slop. Will never order from here again

Fantastic curry house near Newbury train station. Great menu selection, where you can customise the heat of every menu item depending on your preference. Food was first class. Good service and pleasant decor. Highly recommended

Went for a family get together of 11 and we all had a fantastic meal, great service, ambience, nothing was too much trouble and the staff were very friendly - would highly recommend a visit - very reasonably priced for the quality of food too.

Best Indian food we've eaten since living here

This was our first visit to Chilis in many years - it always used to be good but didn't know if anything had changed. The gentleman who took our phone reservation was extremely polite, and the welcome when we arrived warm and smiling. The menu is pleasantly different from the normal standard sauces, with a page of main specialities and another of vegetarian options. Within reason, depending on the dish, they can be supplied mild, medium, hot etc. It was a nice change not to be automatically offered papadams (although they are available) - too often they spoil your appetite. All of our starters were delicious, as were our mains. The chicken was tender and high quality, the sizzling prawns generous, and the dal makhani, made with black lentils, just delicious. The bill includes a 12.5% service charge which another reviewer commented on - maybe a little steep but on the other hand the service was immaculate and again friendly and informative, so we didn't begrudge it. Overall, the total bill was very reasonable given that we went away full and completely happy. We look forward to returning, sooner rather than later.

First time visiting, recommended by a friend. We were staying at a local hotel in Speen called the Hare and Hounds. We ate there most nights but wanted a change of pace. The food was excellent. The service was also acceptable. We would recommend this place to others.

Good food and pleasant service. My second visit. The draught beer was off so bottles were offered. I was a little taken aback by the bill - a 12.5% non-optional service charge applied to the whole bill, making the beer bottles £7.43 each. This is Newbury not London. It was too embarrassing to raise this at the time as I was with somebody, so paid as asked. But it left a sour taste. The bottles should have been charged at the draft beer price (which I assume and hope was less than £7.45) and the service should have been optional. The bill even invites a top up. This is Newbury not the US.

We really enjoy the fresh food and wide range of curry dishes here just by Newbury station. Have spoken to chefs before about the fruit sizzlers and finally decided to give it a try. Absolutely delicious and very different from other choices - top dish! On table we also had fish and prawn curry plus the weekend special byrianni. Simple starters included pecora and cauliflower Gobi

I ordered a vegetarian Cauliflower based starter in Chilli's via Uber. I got a Chicken piece in it. It is against my belief system of not eating meat. An Indian restaurant should know this more than anyone else. Thoroughly disappointed. Wont be ordering from here again.

23/09/23. Hidden little gem, service, staff and food quality is outstanding. The price is very reasonable, and on our visit averaged £30 per head including drinks, may vary depending on what dish/s you have. Definitely worth a visit.

1hr until poppadoms - 1hr 45 mins deep and still no mains - barely anyone in the restaurant, doesn’t make sense

Good place near railway station

Excellent food, I have tried almost all veg dishes which are absolutely super. They prepare the dish as per your request and flavour. Tandoori mushroom is a must try. Overall I have been there 4 times in last 2 months and every time their taste was consistent. I would recommend this Indian restaurant.

Bryani was good and the staff was friendly.

The tables are a little packed in. But that's because they can fill them. Good specials. Big portions. The "hot" curries are just bearable. I found you tasted the ingredients more if you had the medium. The Chicken biryani medium was a bit too uniform taste throughout. The Prawn Malai curry medium was too liquidy. mushroom rice excellent and well presented. gongura chicken very nice indeed. Good vegetable rice. Big portions.

Excellent taste, ambiance and great service. I strongly recommend this restaurant in UK. This will not be my last visit for sure!

There aren't enough stars to rate Chili's highly enough! Places are about people and Chili's has the nicest staff - really good people. Food once again was incredible, madras fish and then the biryani which quite simply was WOW. Thank you Chili's for being so great.

I've had MANY thousands of curries on my time on earth. This was without a doubt one of the best I've ever had. Highly recommend the Aubergine curry and the Vegetable curry. I would eat here everyday if I could.. Thank you for a delicious meal. Hope to visit Newbury and come back again one day.

Excellent hospitality, lovely attentive staff, very comfortable seating. The food was terrific, really flavoursome, great portion sizes, very good heat. A really wonderful evening all in all, will definitely be back and highly recommend to friends and family

Food is absolutely superb, tastes home cooked.

Fantastic food. I’ve been to India more than ten times and this is the most authentic Indian food I’ve had in the UK. Absolutely delicious. Some negative comments on here about the naan breads being thin - these are authentic Indian breads, not the rubbish we are told is Indian that are all puffy and thick. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the service was great. Absolutely fantastic - we will definitely go back again!

Got this for takeaway and it's by far the best Indian I've had in Newbury. All dishes were superb and we're clearly cooked fresh to order! Very friendly service on collection.

Well let’s start on a positive, the staff were very pleasant, and half the food was delicious, however the other half wasn’t nice , the dishes were not really as described going from past experience from other restaurants, the butter chicken was not, the rice wasn’t what I ordered, the starter was not worth half what they charged £18 the popadoms were great, though the dips were from a jar, my biggest moan is they charged £3.45 each for a can of coke and £5.95 for a bottle of thatchers gold, I can understand a company doubling the price of a product but not trebling it, also there prices are far to high, £7.95 for a tiny portion of potato and spinach sagalo, I definitely would not recommend purely because of the prices, Definitely not going back

We booked to eat here whilst visiting Newbury. Very easy to reserve a table and amend the time without any fuss at all. The staff were very welcoming, warm and friendly. Nothing was too much hassle and we were helped to choose our meals when we weren’t sure what to order- so much choice! The food was delicious. A fabulous, family run restaurant. Highly recommended.

The food here was absolutely delicious. We visited yesterday evening - poppodoms to start and I ordered the Gongura Lamb (a southern Indian speciality) for main. We shared lasooni naans, rice and pakoras. Flavours were out of this world - highly recommended!

Visited to celebrate a birthday. Chili's offer outstanding authentic Indian food, fresh and beautifully cooked with lots of flavour. We were very happy with the Chicken Biryani. Tasted great. Prices reasonable too. Will visit again.

The restaurant was very pleasant, it was cozy and clean. I tried both lunch and dinner, the food was excellent and incredibly varied. The hotel team has always been friendly, patient and helpful. That impressed me the most. I suggest everyone to try this restaurant. And also they provide party and birthday bookings. So if your looking for good party buffet food, I strongly recommend chili's.

Chillis is a good choice among the Indian restaurants in Newbury. The food is not so great to taste but the lack of other good Indian dining drives us here. The side dishes are oily for my eyes and veg. Rice doesn't feel like veg rice as its just plain masala rice with little beans, corn and peas served on top. It can have more vegetables. The rotis and naans are good but must be eaten hot otherwise loses its taste.

Me and my family went to this place for our special get together on Friday dinner. As we are all vegetarian ordered kadai paneer, aubergine curry, qongura paneer and dal makhani. Which were excellent. We will be back

Average. Deciding on a small get together and fancied an Indian, and this place is highly rated across google and trip adviser. It was nice, but nothing more than average, really don’t understand the hype (sorry). Service was nothing more than average too? Between the 5 of us we had a great selection too, and tried multiple dishes.

Favourite Indian restaurant, always has the best food

Chili’s is by far the most authentic, best tasting Indian in the Newbury/Thatcham area! The food is all freshly homemade, you can pick ur own spice level based on your palette. The owners are super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend to dine in or order takeaway to try out.
