Spice Indian Cuisine in South Lanarkshire

I have been to this restaurant many times and have had serval takeaways delivered . This will honestly be the last . I ordered a takeaway to b delivered Mushroom pakora - disgusting and half the portion size from the normal . Mixed Tandoori - Dry hardly any meat an no sauce I did complain to just eat they did not want to know . Never again .

We eat dinner every week, find consistency of food and service. We go as a couple or family. In Hamilton the best south indian dishes you can find here.

Pleasant staff, excellent service and excellent food. Great value for money with plenty choices on the lunch time menu that we choose from.

I live near Bradford, a city that offers the best currys in the UK (sorry Birmingham) so I know what I'm talking about. The food, and I only loosely call it food, that this place offers has no right to call its self a curry. I ordered a lamb bhuna and my wife ordered Chicken tika masala. The two dished that was brought to us were nothing like the standards we ordered. my wife's plate was basically some chicken portions covered in a thick, mushroom soup like sauce that had been spiced up. Mine was lumps of not very tender lamb covered in exactly the same sauce that was dolloped onto my wife's plate. Both dishes tasted exactly the same, they were accompanied by soggy frozen chips and naan bread that was clearly out of a packet. The food arrived too quickly to have been cooked fresh. I was starving but could only manage half of my food and my wife ate very little. To sum up it was disgusting. Don't go to this wreck of a restaurant, the sooner it goes out of business the safer we'll all be.

Was staying nearby and friends had been here previously so short walk down the road, got seated and ordered. Menu was either set menu or they have an a la carte menu - just ask. Had a rogan josh and menasar (?). Had never heard of the second one. Both were very tasty and good prices all in all. It’s. Bit rough around the edges but the food is ultimately why you would order here

I love Indian food and have eaten in many all over the UK and I must say Spice in Hamilton is the best Indian restaurant I have ever eaten in. A lovely relaxed atmosphere with very friendly staff combined with a tantalising menu of the most delicious Indian food. If you are in the area you must visit and experience Spice for yourself.

having passed this place on previous visits to Hamilton, decided to give it a try, the waiter who seated us was polite if a little offhand. the menu was a set offering, which was fine with us, although limited choice. our food was nice, nothing mind blowing .

My husband and I went for lunch. He had chicken chaat which he thought tasted strange as if it had been reheated. I had chicken tikka which had 3 bits of chicken and a bland sauce. My husband had chicken tikka chilli masala which was supposed to be the hottest on the menu. He asked for extra hot and it was completely bland with no spice. He had 3 small bits of chicken in his dish. Complete waste of money.

Last night my wife and I had pre theatre menu at this restaurant, our first and last visit. There is limited parking at the rear around 10 cars. Not too sure where you would park if full. Greeted by smiling waiter and shown to our table.. Our order was delivered quickly I had a pint of lager my wife tap water with blackcurrant. Our meals were OK nothing startling. Chicken pakora, Chasni chicken, Tikka chicken. Reasonable priced £15.95 which included ice cream. All other sundries naan bread etc. were extra. It’s when we got our bill that the price for water & blackcurrant which shocked me. £3.75 for tap water and a dash of blackcurrant, how on earth is this reasonable. I complained and was passed from one waiter to another but they all shook their heads and said that’s the price. As there were other diners watching and listening my wife decided to pay the bill. So, parking poor, food no more than OK, their charge for tap water and blackcurrant absolutely outrageous means we will not be back.

Had lunch in Spice on 24 th Jan 2023 and we really enjoyed it. We both had pakora to start, obviously freshly made and absolutely delicious. My chicken korma was really lovely, tasty chicken and a delicious sauce. My husband had the chicken tikka masala which he also thoroughly enjoyed and the best peshwari naan ever! Thanks must go to our lovely waitress Caroleena (? sp) a very pleasant, helpful lady who we enjoyed chatting to very much and a definite asset to the team.

Service for takeaway was very good very nice girl polite and helpful, but went down hill from there this was my first and probably my only visit ,food was very bland and sauce quite watery and not very spicy garlic nans seemed to be shop bought and not home made also veg pakora seemed to have a burnt taste as if it was reheated several times for my first experience I felt it was expensive and not value for money will not be returning

The food is good, but not the best in Hamilton. When ordering using their own app our order is frequently lost. Tonight was the second time we've ordered using the app (in advance with plenty of time), however when we phoned 25 mins after delivery should have been received, they noted they hadn't even started cooking it. This was almost 3 hours after ordering. This has now happened every time we have used the app. Terrible service for orders. Would not recommend.

Two stars because the lamb korma was decent but the chicken chasni tasted frankly strange - sweeteners? And the people on the phone & delivery…? Trust me, two stars was gracious.

A group of friends booked for dinner to celebrate a birthday. The staff were very friendly, attentive and service was great at all times. I hate to give any kind of negative review however although the food was fresh it was bland and lacked flavour. My dish was meant to be hot when it was more like a chicken tikka masala. A friend asked for a dish to be extra hot and it wasn't. Wouldn't rush back.

My friend Steve and i had dinner at this restaurant on the 24th June 2021. The restaurant has quite an impressive building, and is very clean inside. The food is really quite good, and very tasty, and the service is first class. On the night we visited, the restaurant wasn't very busy, and that's a shame, as it deserves to be busier, based on its location, food and service. This wasn't our first visit to spice, and it wont be our last. Sorry, but I didn't take any photos on this visit.

Have gone here often for takeaway and enjoyed it . Tonight we waited over an hour for our takeaway due to some mix up and our order apparently not being put through to the kiitchen . When they realised the mistake they did not even offer my husband as much as a glass of water although he’d been waiting all,that time . Not even an offer,of something small like a nan bread or something . We certainly won’t be back . The place was in a complete uproar with bottles everywhere on all the tables . Arrived at 8ish Sunday evening, we were the only table, service was friendly & prompt, ordered drinks, pint of beer, glass of wine & a coke.Shared stater Lamb Tikka was delicious & fresh, 2 mains Chicken Tikka & Chicken Karahi , side orders cheese nan & chips couldn’t fault the meal at all !, portions were average......like to have seen a little more for the value/cost.Bill £54, bit pricy for our taste, would return for the lunch, pre-theatre or a takeaway.Had the cost been less 5 stars would had rated.

We popped in for an early dinner to be greeted by a friendly waiter, shown to our table and had our drinks order taken. For starters we had spiced onions and poppadoms which were lovely and then we opted for the chicken tikka chasni with rice for main - it was absolutely delicious. So flavoursome and the chicken was cooked beautifully. I also had the garlic nan which was amazing. The best I’ve had in a while. Really enjoyed my meal here and will definitely return.

Following The Accies marvellous 2-1 win at Fir Park myself and my partner went to Spice for a nice meal .We had poppadoms that came out with just 1 dip (onions). My partner enquired as to why there were no other dips to go with the poppadoms and asked for a mint dip and mango chutney.Imagine our surprise after an ok meal to be charged £7 for dips. That’s right. £7 for dips. For poppadoms.The service was average so we left without providing a tip.

Happy Staff, who try there best to find a dish that meets your needs, I had the chicken tikka massala and would recommend.

Ordered a takeaway and went to pay for it only to be told it was £2 more than the advertised prices on their website. I will not use this restaurant again.

We recently stayed with our daughter in Blantyre again and couldn't wait to order another take-away meal from this restaurant! As before, the food was excellent, the delivery on time and exactly as we expected from our first meal!

Visited this restaurant this evening 3rd September but was disappointed at the change in service and quality of food never had a problem in the past but definitely nowhere near as good as before.. Waiter didn't have much knowledge on the food and found ourselves repeating our order 2/3 times...

This was my first time in Spice. There were three of us and we went for the 3 Course Lunch Menu @ £9.95 each. On arrival, the previous guests were just leaving , we were approached by a waiter who did not even smile and sat at the first table in the completely empty restaurant, near the door which was drafty. He took the drinks order quickly, a pint, a half pint and a Diet Coke. The first thing I noticed was that the walls are ‘greasy’ and in need of painting. When the non smiling waiter brought them there were 2 pints and a Diet Coke! We asked to move which he done quickly and wordlessly. As we moved another diver arrived. The food itself was good and the rest of the decor including the toilets was nice. I was a little taken aback though when the bill came, the charge for 2 pints, a Diet Coke and a Peshwari Naan was £15.50 I would recommend decorating and some staff training.

Visited on a Friday night. Food was ok but overpriced for what it was. Also lots of noise coming from adjoining ‘function suite’. Biggest disappointment was from the staff who were not at all welcoming. Main server (Danny) didn’t smile once and acted as if he was doing us a favour serving us! Won’t be back.

Pre - theatre £13.95. Chicken pakora for starter was delicious. I had Lamb Bhoona, £1 extra for Lamb. Side order of garlic nan was tasty. I think they shouldn't be charging full money for kids under say 10 or 12. Pink turban in wishaw is a great Indians and they let under 10's eat free on their buffet. Guy who served us was spot on.

Popped in again on Saturday for Lunch. Food as always superb. Danny deserves a special mention, always ask how you are and is extremely courteous. The 3 course lunch mention is exceptional value at under a tenner. Range of starters and mains to suit all tastes. Will be back again soon.

Great Lunch Deal, 3 courses only £9.95. Food exceptional and Staff very welcoming. I regularly visit and the food quality and consistency always Superb. Waiter from Pollockshields very courteous and helpful.

We arrived on a Friday night without a booking but were seated right away.

This place is on the edge of town, in the College/Business area. It has it's own limited parking. Although well appointed, it's not a welcoming place. The starter of chicken chat was good. The main was too hot to eat and the chicken appeared not to be fresh. The Nan was doughy. Ice cream is ice cream. A tenner for linchpin simply wasn't worth it.

Really lovely Indian food. Beautifully cooked and well presented. All requirements met with no fuss. The staff however were a bit off hand and seemed to be in a rush to get orders and move on to next task. It would have been good if they had all been like an older waiter (with glasses). who actually took time to chat and smile.

Still one of the best food is always consistent and very tasty can’t fault it always perfection and staff treat you exceptional well looking forward to my next visit

Perfectly acceptable curry house with few pretensions to being anything else. We had an acceptable meal and paid an appropriate price. If you are in the vicinity, don't be put off but I wouldn't travel too far.

Tried Spice for the first time last night.I had read reviews on trip advisor,they were a mixed bag.I found the staff in Spice to be quite attentive.The food was nice but I have definitely had better.I had heard from friends that Spice was really good so I felt a little disappointed.

We visited this restaurant for lunch today 03/01/19 and came away very disapointed. Although the quality of the food is very good its the staff that let the place down. The waiter today couldn't crack a smile if his life depended on it and a please or thank you would have been nice. When bringing the food it was almost thrown at us and would have probably broken my daughters phone had it been put down any harder. Even when i paid my bill and gave it to the man behind the bar not even a thank you or anything from him. If anyone wants some good food but doesnt mind ignorance and a lack of gratitude then this place will be good enough for you, but i think i will some other restaurant where the employees are more civil.

A group of 25 Celtic supporting friends from East Kilbride had our annual Hamilton v Celtic day out. Previously experiencing disappointing quality and service at the actual Hamilton FC hospitality at the stadium we opted to try something different this time. We booked the after match hospitality package at the nearby Spice Indian restaurant and were blown away with the value for money. The bottles of beer were on the table awaiting our arrival along with the spiced onions and poppadums. Service was efficient and timely. Large platters of mixed pakora were produced all tasting fresh hot and delicious. Shortly followed by the main courses, again hot delicious and ample portions. The manager was highly visible and very attentive. One or two of the waiters could have had a more positive demeanour but in fairness it was very busy with a restaurant full of supporters. All in all this was a very good experience and one which we will be looking to make a regular return to.

We used to visit another indian restaurant not too far from Spice, I am sure you know the one I am talking about and while there food was lovely, Spice knocks it out the park for both flavour of the dishes and value for money - Would recommend to anyone looking for an indian in South Lanarkshire to visit Spice.

Disgusted at the way I was treated and refused a disabled parking space !! We were attending a family birthday party which was being held at the spice, Bothwell Road function suite. Upon entering the car park I was told by an employee that I could not park as they was another party planned also and the spaces were required. I was told that I would need to park at Caird street and walk back to spice.

My husband I go here for lunch about every Saturday love the food good choices great value for money.

I gave Spice a try tonight as we usually order from Bombay Cottage, but we wanted a change. Terrible service. Waited for 1hr 30mins for a delivery on a “supposedly” quiet Sunday night. Food was cold and rice dry.

If you are a curry coniesure then this is the place for you. The staff are very friendly & knowledgeable about the menu. We got pakora for starters and it was magic. As for the curries, well all the bowls were empty. They were absolutely amazing. Been before, but will always come back. If you try it you won't be disappointed.

We ate here on the long drive to Loch Lomond, a good place to stop to miss the rush hour traffic, and good food too. Poppadums with a huge bowl full of red onion relish to stat, then a chicken shashlick in spicy sauce for me and tarka Dhal and cauliflower bhaji for my wife. All pretty tasty, though not over keen on the bright red colouring.

Back for the Umpteenth time, great food and service as always. Lunch superb value and plentiful. Sauces authentic and done to suit taste. Spiced onions a must as side .Waiters very polite and pleasant, one from Pollockshields "Top Man".

Came in on a Friday afternoon for lunch and they do set 3 course for 9.95 x I had garlic mushrooms which were lovely and my partner had mixed pakora which was a big starter but he enjoyed immensely. He had chilli garlic chicken and I had chicken karahi both which were hot but lovely and tasty and the garlic Nan was home made and really set the meal off. Finished the meal with nice plain ice cream which was a good way to quell the heat from our mains. Fast pleasant service in comfortable clean surroundings x definitely a winner and we will be back x

Went here with my partner to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Food was lovely. Pity the same couldn’t be said about the man who served us. He was very ignorant and when I mentioned my partner had nut allergy he didn’t seem interested. Quite expensive. Maybe that why they only had 4 tables in on a Friday night

I was working away & Met up with a colleague for a curry. He had been recommended this place.... on arrival we asked for poppadoms & pickle tray. We were fetches poppadoms & lime pickle..... I asked do you not do mango chutney, yoghurt, onions & a chilli sauce. We was told no. So thinking this just be their thing we ordered a starter to share which was quite nice... then the main arrived & it’s the worst curry I’ve ever tasted. You can see from my reviews I love curry & never criticise unless it’s deserved and believe me this deserves to be highlighted... the chicken in the curry was poor.... it tasted as though it had been frozen, the rice was very greasy, the naan was average.... I never leave food but I couldn’t eat this food and left food on my plate. Don’t waste your money going here....

Popped into Spice on Saturday around noon for lunch with my 7 year old grandson after an early morning cinema trip. We ordered from the 3 courses for £8.95 lunch menu. I went for the onion bhaji to start and the chicken pakora for the wee man both were good sized portions,hot & freshly made and came with a chilli sauce with a good kick. For mains he had the chicken korma which is all he ever orders and I had the chicken tikka with boiled rice and a plain naan to share,again great portions and delicious,no complaints. Finished off with a tea and coffee and a wee biscuit on the side for just over £20 for 2. Been to Spice numerous times over the years as its local to me and no doubt will return. Lovely restaurant,good food,staff are polite and prices are reasonable.

Spice is a restaurant much loved by local diners. This is an establishment that is recognised as a place where you can by guaranteed a good meal. And yes indeed the food is good. My partner and I enjoyed a lunch time menu and throughly enjoyed our meal. The problem is that presentation of the food is dated as is the choice of menu that whilst offering very popular dishes does not to sell the wonderful modern cuisine of Indian cooking. Neither my partner nor I are restauateurs or remotely qualified as food critics but for us the decor seemed sterile which does not add to the ambiance of the restaurant, it lacks a warmth and intimacy that other similar establishments convey. We'd have no hesitation in returning to Spice because we enjoyed our meal but for us this is a restaurant that could and should step up its game.

This place has beautiful decor and food to match, The staff are friendly and attentive to your needs, The Chicken Korma is to die for and Nan Bread is so fresh.

Food excellent quality, flavours, choice. Sharing platter to start gave a good mixture of things to try. Lamb and Chicken tikka were both sizzling and tender. Friendly efficient waiting staff. Like the decor. Toilets could be better. Refuse to return to Bombay Cottage after several experiences of terrible service there- Spice is far better!

We had a 21st birthday meal in the private function room. The food was excellent and the waiters couldn't do enough for us. Despite having almost 50 people there, we couldn't fault anything. Thank you very much, Spice!

We love Indian food and have ate many places but spice is the best ever. Each time we have went the meals were great. I won't order anything else than lamb tikka because it is amazing. Went for our valentines meal and they went extra mile by handing you a rose. Be back soon

8 of us went for pre theatre meal before going out for drinks.I must admit an Indian meal was not something I would have chosen but I thoroughly enjoyed it.Chicken pakora for starters portion a lot larger than expected and very nice.Chicken tikka masala for main just enough rice and the sauce very nice but not a lot of chicken however enough to be comfortable to finish. I have not visited this restaurant for a while, as not impressed with last visit. However attended a birthday dinner on Friday night as part of a party of 9 what a difference. The food was fantastic, service excellent, restaurant busy but atmosphere was great.There was another large party as well and the waiters were great ensuring everyone had a good time and wanted for nothing, even joined in singing happy birthday.Will be back again soon.

Arrived Sunday about 4.30pm and no one in the place.Ordered vegetable pakora which was nice. I ordered chicken karahi ,which I have eaten in lots of indian restaurants for longer than I care to remember !When it arrived the chicken was as tough as old boots I had a hard job trying to cut it ,the sauce was burning the back of my throat and it had an strange taste,it tasted much like extra chilli powder had been added or too many cloves.I only ate one piece of chicken and could not eat the sauce .When the waiter asked if oeverthing was alright I told him about the meal which he could see I did not eat he said he would speak to the chef.The naan bread was also undercooked ,pale and doughy.The bill arrived ,brought to the table by another waiter who had not served us,it was obvious the waiter we complained to did not want any hassle,they charged us the whole amount for the meal,no discount no apology ! Have eaten here many times for both personal and business and personally I think they for me are the best in the area, personal choice i might add. Service depends on staff, a friendly smile more would help but doesn't distract from the food, I love the peshwari nan.Plent of tables though would book at weekend, i prefer an early eating time to visit as its much quieter time to go and parking is easier to find at the back of the building. Great for family or couples and theres a handy pub across road also owned by owners. Good for larger groups as have been many times with large groups and there function room is private and excellent for this.Worth a visit.

Got a good deal for Ladies day tickets at the racecourse and a set meal at Spice so we settled in to get some food before un-successfully betting on some horses.( Not all of us were down at the end though...)Been a while since we'd eaten here and the food was great. Whilst working in Hamilton we decided to revisit this Indian restaurant. Whilst it was never great for ambiance or service it has previously served reasonable food. The food today was awful, the chapati was burnt and hard and when I mentioned it to the waiter he simply lifted it and took it away. No replacement was offered and it was still included on the bill. The rest of the food was pretty bland. I won't be back.

We went here for a works night out a while ago and were the only people in the place - but the staff still dealt with us as if we were an inconvenience.Foolishly we thought it may have been a bad night so returned again. We won't be back. The food was fantastic but the service was shocking. Surly disinterested waiting staff with the exception of 1 young waiter. Had to search for someone to serve us drinks and as for water - the desert would be easier.Quiet restaurant and no wonder - 13 of us spending a lot of money and won't return.

Visited the restaurant for lunch on Saturday. On entering the car park we where unsure if it was open as there was no sign of life, the place has dark curtains draped so that didnt help. I quickly rang the number & they where open so in we went. Staff where pleasant and efficient. We enjoyed the set lunch menu which was varied and 3 courses for £8 something. We had chicken chaat & chicken pakora to start followed by chicken korma and chasni with boiled rice and naan to share. The naan bread was one of the best I have tried. Preferred the korma to chasni felt it was more flavoursome but enjoyed both. Great value for money. Been before this visit and will most definitely be back.
