Lovely food. Really sensitive to the different allergies we had in the group, and really nice staff. There was a bit of a long wait for food but it was really delicious when it arrived so we didn’t mind.

Service good. Cobra beer 600ml only £5.75. But. Lamb inedible, very tough. Both our table and the one next to us complained. We received replacement chicken dishes very quickly. For the bill we were going to be overcharged for another beer and wine. Had I not noticed we would gave paid and left the island. In defence for the bill, there was a party of about 20 people so that would have its challenges on the staff. Would I est there again, yes I would, but quality of lamb would be a query.

Centrally located in the heart of Cowes, the food is good. Took a party of 16 there last week and the on line booking was quickly accepted with no advisory’s. We had to wait close to an hour and a half for the food to arrive and when I chased it, I was told that I should know that it would take that long because we were a large group and that everything is freshly cooked. Another large group was in the restaurant and it was clear they were the priority. There were no other diners. They offered a plate of complimentary onion bhajis before I complained, so were obviously aware of the issue. Plus a complimentary glass of Baileys at the end. So if you go as a large group, beware and perhaps when accepting the booking, the restaurant should advise that a wait of 90 minutes is the norm.

Spice central is always our ‘go to’ restaurant for a delicious Indian. Abdul and his team cannot do enough for you. The chef is excellent and the service is second to none. Once again we have enjoyed a delicious curry. We had naga chicken curry (my favorite) saag aloo, chicken dhansak, chicken shashlick & mushroom rice. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough. Definitely the best if you are visiting Cowes without a doubt. And they deliver.

Booked this weeks before our stay in Cowes so we had a guaranteed first night meal. The best curry we had for a long time. My son who is the pickiest eater going had the Chicken 65 starter and said they were the best wings he'd ever had! He did note the chicken korma was a little lacking in flavour but I had the pistachio korma and that was great. Husband had the jalfrezi and said it was really nice and full of flavour.

The food here is really worth the visit. A particular shout out for the chicken tikka which was served succulent and sizzling and the naan which was soft and pillowy. The beer (Cobra) was unexpectedly good value for a restaurant and they even had King Cobra which is rare. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful without being overly attentive.

Decided to treat our Dutch family to an Indian meal, we decided on Spice Central, which proved to be an excellent choice. The popadoms rate amount the best we’ve ever had, and all the dishes we chose complimented each other and tasted great. We will certainly be back. Such a shame the restaurant moved from Yarmouth, which is on our doorstep, to Cowes, which involves a 30 minute drive, though it is certainly worth it.

Absolutely disgusting, booked a table for 6 people to celebrate our wedding anniversary whilst on holiday, had an email confirming that we had a table a couple of days prior to our visit. We arrived on the Thursday evening and advised we had a table booked, my friend asked if they had a high chair as stated on our booking the MANAGER told us we were in the wrong restaurant and that it was down the road, feeling a little embarrassed we were in the wrong place we walked down to road to find that there was not another restaurant with the same name, so we went back and shown the manager our email confirmation and was again told this was not the restaurant we were looking for and given an address. We came out the restaurant again to see that on the track and trace app in the window was the exact address that we were at and a place were we had booked for our anniversary, the manager clearly just didn’t want a child in his restaurant. He was very ignorant and rude, all over a high chair. Absolutely disgusting. Please don’t book this place if you have children.

The food was absolutely great, tasty and proper portion as well. We asked for halal meat and they were uncertain whether or not they had any options and this was frustrating especially because on the website it said “halal”..the service was ok all together expect for the loud chatting between them and constant banging of cutleries and squeaking trolleys being carried around the restaurant. I also would have expected Indian music which unfortunately was replaced by some sort of loud commercial one. I would go back for the food but not for the service, sorry.

Utterly pathetic experience from the very beginning when the disinterested bearded waiter of Bangladeshi origin who lacks any politeness gave us the takeaway menu when we actually sat down for dine-in, to the very unprofessionally cooked dish when they passed off some coconut based sweet curry as butter chicken curry ( I think that’s what was left off their kitchen when I entered the restaurant 45 mins before their closing time). To top it all, the same bearded waiter lied to us saying the keema naan is has filling of minced lamb, whereas the smell and colour of it strongly suggested it was beef. The bombay butter chicken tasted sweet like sugar syrup! A bunch of unprofessionals run this restaurant. Avoid this like plague if you do not want to be scammed.

A great location set in the heart of Cowes. Service is ok but a little relaxed and food ok if a little bland. Whilst the restaurant was reasonably busy, you could t help smell the waft of bleach. We chose mainly vegetarian options that didn’t ignite the tastebuds and the Tadka Dhal and Saag were mediocre at best. The menu is too vast on selections and try’s to cater for both North & South cuisine.

Read the most recent review from Blighty and clearly he is a curry aficionado and knows his onions. Well, his papadums for sure! We had a lovely meal but at 95p each plus similar for pickles we declined the obligatory opening gambit of “2 popadoms each?” A quick wander of the bustling city centre afterwards revealed 75p to be the more usual price. Again, total rip-off for what they are but it’s the overall price and experience customers should keep in mind. So, Spice Central gave us a lovely curry night and sure you will enjoy yours if you choose them. Just don’t arrive too tipsy and go mad on poppydims!

This is a nice restaurant to visit.Good atmosphere, lovely food and attentive staff. The only down side…A minor irritation really…..why charge 95p for a papadum that costs less than a penny? I really do not get it…and then on top charge 95p for the pickles to go with it….£1.90 for one papadam and some pickle…little greedy things let places like this down.Manager please feel free to reply and try and justify it…as they say…” do not try to defend the indefensible”.Apart from the greediness,if you can put that aside this restaurant-produces great food and I definitely recommend it"…………..but bring your own papadums.

Arrived with high expectations having read other reviews. I usually prefer not to leave a review at all after a bad experience preferring to praise after good experiences. Having been seated and taking drinks orders we waited a while for the starters, not a problem but when my Tikka arrived ... 2 pieces were so tough and chewy I couldn’t eat them. Everyone else enjoyed theirs so I didn’t complain. We then watched as the staff ran about trying to squeeze as many tables of people in as the could ... and again a long wait for mains. They arrived and my curry was once again tough...the chicken had definitely been cooked from frozen or part frozen ... some pieces were ok some not. I couldn’t eat it. The staff asked and I told them my thoughts politely and the offered an alternative which I declined. We then sat with our dirty plates and empty glasses being completely ignored until my husband asked for the bill. I wanted to walk out ... they did remove the cost of the tough curry but it ruined our first night and I’d never go back again RUDE!!!

This restaurant has been through a number of owners in the past 8 years and was not recommended. However we decided to give it a try as most of our Cowes favourites are closed. We were very pleasantly surprised. The meal was excellent, delivered within a few minutes of the requested time, and was hot when it arrived. I cannot find anything to fault- although note there is a bit of a problem with their website as one menu category, Sides, is missing. There was also a 30% discount which made everything taste even better. I don’t know what planet tge previous reviewer lives on, must be planet-1952.

We have just had a delivery from here, and wow! First off, it was 25 minutes late after already waiting for 50, to find when we opened the bag that we had a meal missing from the order, and some things we didn't order in there. Then we get to eat it... the chicken was tough and near unedable, the sauce was split in half (oil and colour), and the 'tikka' paneer was cold, dry tastless. Had it not been for the current 30% discount we would have paid £61.70 for this pleasure. There was 3 main meals and some sundries! Now if the meal had been nice I'd have looked past the price, but how they think they can get away with charging those prices with the quality being so poor is beyond me! We will go back to Cowes Tandoori next time who have never let us down!

One of the worst service experiences ever. The attitude on the staff was appalling. They made us feel like they were doing us a favour by serving a meal. Rude while taking our order - saying "Hellloo?!" when one person had not realised it was his turn to say an order. They forgot one dish and when we pointed it out there was no apology - the server just said, "do you really want it, or shall I cancel it off the bill?"When the bill came they had added a dish they hadn't served us. When we told them they said, "you're already getting 50% off your bill!" (eat out to help out). This was the second time they deflected our complaints with this, and then the server tried to laugh it off and told one of our party to "calm down".Food was fine, average. But the service made the whole thing just bizarre in the worst way. Avoid.

Booked a table for 8.30, turned up at 8.30 and the restaurant seemed very busy for the 25 people that were meant to be in at any one time. Table wasn't ready, we were sat on a large table that had been reserved for another party, offered no drinks or menus. After about 5mins a party of 4 arrived, this resulted in my partner and I being relocated on the non-existent seats at the bar. At this point I was ready to leave but my partner was hungry, so I had a little winge about being offered some drinks and a menu. I was promptly dismissed and left to stew at the bar for 5mins.Once we were seated, the service was good, our order was taken and we were quickly provided with our food, which was all very nice.Laying the table with cutlery and crockery before bringing our food to the table and meeting the staff acknowledged request of no coriander garnish would have resulted in a better experience too. I understand they were busy, but being 2nd best twice without being offered a drink or menu is inexcusable. Pity, otherwise very good.

The staff at Spice Central were very friendly and said my order would be ready within 15 minutes, (and it was ready in 10). The pilau rice was very tasty and not all clumped together. But the star of the dinner was the Chicken Jalfrezi. OMG, it had the perfect amount of heat (spice), plenty of chicken, onion and peppers, in a very tomato based sauce, and not drowning in oil. It was absolutely superb—by far the best I have ever eaten!!! My compliments to your chef and your entire staff. Thank you Spice Central!

It’s a little bit Faulty Towers in respect to the service and you are never sure of the status in respect to illegal immigrant staff (or not) and food hygiene ratings but it’s the only place on the island that I will go for a curry. Plenty of choice, especially if you ask for something ‘off menu’ and I have always left looking forward to the time I next return. As I write this I understand that they have just been closed down for non-payment of rent, but this is Saffron/Spice Central/new name TBC, so you know they will be back and I for one will be waiting on their doorstep ready to order my favourite once again.

Good food, absolutely diabolical service. We were a party of ten, we were seated quickly and then the wheels fell off. We waited twenty minutes before we were asked what drinks we wanted. After we finally ordered the drinks came out quickly but then came the next ordeal. We waited another half an hour before our food order was taken, then waited another hour for the food to arrive. The restaurant was quite, only about fourteen other people in the restaurant. We won’t be back!

We walked through the town mid evening looking for somewhere to eat.We chose this place as it looked nice and from what we could see the food being eaten looked good. What a great find!!!!!My partner always eats Lamb Biryani and he said this was the best he had ever tasted. I tried some of the lamb and it was so tender and melted in your mouth and the accompanying vegetable curry looked fabulous.I myself like to try different dishes and opted for the chefs special of Murgh Madhuri. The chicken was plentiful and cooked to perfection and not over done, something I have experienced in the past. The accompanying pilau rice (included in the price - a rarity) was light, fluffy and tasty too.Service was excellent. Attentive but not in your face.We will definately return when next on the island and have left recommendation in our holiday let. Thanks again Spice Central from the couple from Kendal, Cumbria (man on crutches)

Totally love this place, hence why we keep going back. Great service and elegant food. The Thalis are so flavoursome and big it’s hard to finish, so doggy bag it is. Looking forward to Elvis next month.

Chicken tikka deserves a special mention but everything we ordered was pretty good. The staff were friendly and attentive even though we'd turned up without a booking and dangerously close to closing time.

Having arrived in Cowes late evening off a boat we went straight to the High Street for a bite to eat and decided that curry would be easy as it was still relatively early and we wouldn’t need to book. The restaurant looked pleasant from the outside so we decided to give it a go as there were a couple of families inside also with kids and it didn’t look too busy. On arrival we were shown to a table quickly. A couple of bits of cutlery were missing and one of the knives was dirty on our table for 4 - we put this down to the table being relaid hastily during an earlier busy period. We were offered popadoms and drinks immediately. The popadoms were excellent, really fresh with a good mix of accompaniments. There were only two staff working front of house, one of whom seemed to be doing the lion’s share of the work during what was now quite a busy restaurant. My husband helped himself to a menu to browse as we hadn’t been offered one on arrival and one didn’t seem to be forthcoming after another 10 minutes and we couldn’t find a member of staff to ask. Once we had ordered though, the food arrived quite quickly. The kids had the ubiquitous korma which was very tasty. I had the garlic chilli chicken and hubby had a dopiaza. The chicken was tender and both dishes were good, pretty standard but not outstanding. We were keen to leave once we had eaten as it had been a long day and everyone was tired but we couldn’t get the attention of the waiter as he was chatting at the bar area. In the end, I left with the kids to pop to the nearby Sainsbury’s but even this didn’t attract his attention and it was still a while before hubby got the bill. I would have given the food a 4 star rating but overall, the evening was a bit of a mixed bag. We would happily go there again but just not if we were in a rush.

We placed an order for collection this evening as we had family visiting from the mainland. We’ve ordered from Spice Central before and never had any issues. Unfortunately, the Goan fish curry was missing so I called to ask if this could be delivered, which it couldn’t as they don’t do deliveries and I was told that there wasn’t the staff to help us.

Visiting the area for Cowes week. Was served by Chris who was a absolute gentleman. Great food and great service would 100% recommend to anyone in the area and look for a solid Indian.

For context: We live in a region where we have access to very good Asian food so when on holiday, we lower our expectations as we accept that the quality is unlikely to equal what we're accustomed to.

Delicious Indian cuisine and also halal food. During 3 days stay in Sandown, we enjoyed dinners at Mumbai bites. We tested several menus and all meals are yummy and tasteful.. Thanks..

It was very disappointing that the service and the way they talk to customers is so rude. I would never walk into this restaurant again.

I came into this high end Indian restaurant with high hopes and was ultimately let down. The Paneer tikka starter was a hit and I would really recommend it. However the Tikka Masala is abysmal as my wife and I have never had this dish so sugary. It’s also red and doesn’t taste like a tikka masala with a lack of cream and overall flavor. You’re better off getting a Gelato if you want something so sweet….
