Jaffran Indian Restaurant And Takeaway in Isle of Wight

Very delicious and good service.

The food is authentic, a great choice of menu. You can dine in and bring your own drinks. This is a very popular takeaway service that also delivers. Jaffran is very popular with the locals and holiday makers. It's open every evening during the main season. Closes on a Tuesday out of season. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. Children are made very welcome. However, not many children visit the restaurant. You can have any type of meal on the menu, as a vegetarian meal. The owner, manager, and all the front of house staff are extremely helpful, friendly, and accommodating. You can your choose your meal to match your taste. All you need to do is ask!! Accessible wheelchair access, with disabled parking spaces outside. There is a large car park across the road and a small amount of parking outside of the restaurant. Jaffran's is busy all year round, which speaks volumes. If you love and Indian meal, you will love this place, and the price.

Wanted to visit this restaurant for a dinner over the Easter weekend. We didn't have a booking, however, when we entered the restaurant shortly after it opened (around 5:15 PM) it was completely empty so we thought, we might be lucky and get some food. How wrong were we! I usually don't write negative comments but what followed next was quite insulting and should not be repeated - hence I write a public review for everyone to see and for management to consider. The conversation: Me: Hello! Can we have a table for 2, please? The employee: Do you have a reservation? Me: No, but it's just 2 of us. We are here to eat something quickly. The employee: We are fully booked. Me: But the restaurant is empty and it's quite early in the evening. We won't be long. The employee: It doesn't matter it's empty, we are fully booked. Me: Nobody is here. We are here now. The employee: It doesn't matter they are not here, we are fully booked. Me: OK, I guess you do not need to earn some extra money then. The employee: (angry now) I don't need your money. I have enough money. Me: Good for you! And left... The employee was an indian man with grey hair. I am not sure if he is the owner or just an employee but this behaviour as a service provider is totally unacceptable!

It's a BYO, and the food is good! The owner is very accommodating. Will return.....

Very helpful and friendly manager. Was very accommodating with Menu and excluding things. The food was delicious and we didn't have to wait for a very long time despite being ten of us. The children all got treats after dinner which was a nice touch. We all enjoyed our food and found the potion size very generous.

A disappointing takeaway. The English girl that took the order had a very poor telephone manner and knew little about Indian food. The curry itself was passable although I expect some some potato in a vindaloo. Cheese naan was a disgrace with barely a sniff of cheese in it. Onion bahji was tasteless and chewy. Will not be returning.

This is usual the best place for a curry, but today they either changed their chef, or their ingredients. The Danzak was not full of flavour like it usually is. The naan bread was doughy like a deep crust pizza base. It’s usually thinner and slightly chewy. Disappointed.

Fantastic food, lovely service.

Ordered our first takeaway from here and got it delivered Feb24, it was very tasty and would definitely recommend the food, our only constructive criticism was the Tarka Dahl was too salty but everything else was fantasticly tasty. Will def get a takeaway again or maybe go for a sit down meal.

I went in for a takeaway chicken Dansak and pilau rice, plus naan bread on Wedsnesday 13th December and unfortunately there was a big cover in (26 people) No worries said the staff and was told my wait would be no more than 20 mins. As promised my meal arrived on time and also while they were serving the mains of the large party... impressive! Once I got home the meal was absolutely superb and plenty of it, in fact I had the leftovers for dinner on the second day! But best of all (in hindsight) I had left my wallet at the restaurant but didn't realise for two days that it was missing. The owners had stored it along with my hat until I got in touch, when I got there all my cards were there including my driving license and about £45 in cash! A totally reliable honest establishment, and with great food to boot, I'll be coming back again!

We were a lively family of 15, dining on Saturday evening at Jaffran. The service and meal was excellent and we will definitely be returning. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the restaurant caters well for young children. The bonus is that it’s a BYO, with no corkage charge, so it makes the whole dining experience EXCELLENT VALUE. The staff and genuinely lovely and everyone had a fantastic time.

We visited friend’s in Freshwater and fancied a meal out. The food was lovely and fresh with great flavours! You bring your own booze which is reminiscent of the 80’s Indian restaurants. Great evening will be returning on our next visit!

Has to be the worst cooked lamb we have ever had.. Overcooked! Very hard to chew and cut . I don't take any delight in giving negative feedback but this has to be said. I spent £28 on two starter's and a main meal. This meal was bought to celebrate our last night on the Isle of Wight, but ended up spoiling the night.

Visited Jaffran twice during a week's holiday on the Isle of Wight on both occasions it was to collect a take away meal, hence no rating of the atmosphere. That said the decor is good and it was busy on both occasions so no reason to suspect it nothing but good As to the food, this is excellent - good menu choices with a decent selection of milder dishes as well as more spicy offerings. My wife reported her mango based chicken dish to be fabulous and my lamb patia was superb - clean tasting and generous portions Subsequently tried a Biriani that was excellent as was sag aloo on both visits. When collecting my meals the food was well packed for easy transport. Will visit again next time we're in the area.

Food very good worth visiting

Lovely little Indian restaurant that will surely develop a great reputation if they keep delivering quality food like we had this evening. Could not fault any of it - delicious and good value. They do not do desserts or hold an alcohol licence, but we knew that so it's 5 stars for what they do offer. Recommended

Very busy Friday night but the owner managed to fit us in without a booking, No alcohol licence so took a can of beer,, Food was tasty and very reasonably priced, many chefs specials along with the classic restaurant meals.A good all round experience.

We were on holiday in Freshwater and decided to try the food from the local Indian restaurant, Jaffran. The food was delicious and the service was good. There were plenty of tender chicken chunks in all the dishes we had and the flavours were great. We will definitely return on our next visit to the island.

Damn excellent curry! Chicken Tikka Masala first class, King Prawn Jalfrezi perfection, and Darjeeling Dom absolutely bang on! Great portions and service. 5 Stars!!

This is a rather good Indian restaurant with welcoming staff and great food. It’s BYO so come prepared (or Sainsbury’s over the road ). Informal and relaxed vibe.

Ordered a chicken pasenda and did not arrive must of ran away the person on the phone was rude aswel although the rest of the food was OK first impressions not great also make sure u ask them to repeat the order as they have two menus

Couldn't order takeaway because the waiter put the 'closed' sign on the glass door straight into our faces this Sunday night at 9:10pm. Very annoying and rude!

Disappointed with the lack of chicken in our chicken tikka massala, and the lack of prawns in our prawn korma. ( 5 small pieces of chicken and 7 very small prawns. Delivery was on time and it tasted good, but please put more meat/sea food in your dishes as this cost you at least 2 stars.

Lovely curry and very friendly service

Superb Indian restaurant in Freshwater Village. Staff and waitress were very helpful and friendly 🙂 came here in the week and had no problem getting a table but weekends I would book as it gets busy. Had the prawn puri and mixed kebab for starters, very tasty 😋, mains had chicken shaslik with salad, chicken tikka jalfreizi with mushroom rice, aloo gobi and a garlic and chilli with corriander nan. Absolutely delicious food highly recommended. We were stuffed. There is no alcohol served on premises, but bring your own wine, beer etc, no corkage charges. Fabulous food and good friendly service definitely be back soon.

Whenever we’re on the Isle of Wight we always make a trip to Jaffran. The menu has a wide selection of dishes (traditional and specials) and we always enjoy the food. Service good and waiters very friendly. BYO element helps keep the cost down!

Great value local Indian restaurant with efficient, friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Honestly one of the best curries we've ever had. We were over from mainland for the isle of wight festival and their food was better than our local place near home. Just the right amount of spicy for us. Thank you.

It now has an updated menu with a wider range of dishes. It is still really good food with good service at reasonable prices. It does not sell alcohol so take your own. There is no corkage charge.

Wow - well, I don't know who cooked our food but it was completely tasteless. Blindfolded you would never have known it was Indian food. I can't believe the reviews of this place - they are either excellent or dreadful. Perhaps there is a chef who only works one night? I have been eating curry very regularly for decades and this is the first bad one I have ever had. No redeeming features. Extremely greasy too. I could not recommend to anyone at all. Expensive considering the poor quality. Still can't quite believe it was that bad.

The food, and that is what is important, was excellent. The waiter was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable when explaining the menu when asked. Bringing your own drinks makes the meal very affordable. Every dish was a delicious experience. Highly recommended

Rang up for a takeaway New Years Eve, given a time of one hour, turned up on time and it was there ready for us.

Was not sure what to eat and my wife suggested an Indian curry. What a find, great food and service. You need to take your own alcohol, as they don't have a licence. OK for me as I don't drink.

We are regular curry eaters and often have one while on holiday, with mixed results! The food in this restaurant was excellent. We had a mixed kebab to start and all the components were very tasty, great mix of spices, lovely fresh and crispy bhaji...

Disappointed. I was hungry otherwise, I would leave without eating. I and my 7 friends were on holiday. the waiter (perhaps the owner) may be understood that we were tourists. I just don't want to mention what happened but just wanna say this is not the way how restaurants make their policy. Very disappointed.

Food was okay, some curries had more flavour than others but the naan bread was lovely. NOT BABY FRIENDLY - they have no high chairs. Staff need a bit more training, I think some a new recruits.

Ignore the ridiculous 1 star reviews. Just have a read of them and you’ll see what’s going on. I would recommend you Eat-in. We had a fabulous meal. We’ve had plenty of great curries in many different restaurants and this was just as good as the best. Great service. Great veggie options too for one of our party. Great value too compared to some. Bring your own booze too and no charge. Really pleasantly surprised this place. It deserves so much more than its current Google rating. 5 stars from us and very much deserved.

Oh my goodness. The advice to ignore the 1 star reviews was spot on. Great value to eat in. We swapped some chicken for Paneer at no extra charge. Sauces were fantastic. Service was great, and yes if you want alcohol you have to bring your own (with no corkage charge). Fabulous service and food. Thank you.

We had a takeaway Indian from Jaffran last night. We aren't local to the area so took a chance. It was THE best chicken jalfrazi I have ever had! The rest of the food could also not be faulted. Definitely recommend

Terrible food, have tried them twice in case the first was just bad luck...watery, tasteless dishes and very greasy. And just reading as of today (04-07-22) they have been given a 1 star hygiene review... ashamed to say I tried them a second time.

Glad we didn't follow the silly 1-star reviews. We turned up to order a takeaway, asked if the wait was too long and we were told 20 minutes max, and they kept their promise. The food was delicious, and no, I don't have to be Indian to recognise great food, in fact I am very picky when it comes to great quality food, and the portions were spot on. The food was good but customer service was very bad and rude. He doesn’t know how to deal with a customers and table service was he don’t want to serve us. He was kind of throwing the plate on the table.

Being an Indian I generally don’t visit Indian restaurants in UK unless they are really authentic however as my mom visiting us she was really keen for Indian food and we visited Jaffaran and loved it. Excellent service and amazing food , far beyond our...
