Spencers in Cheltenham

Have had full English here before and it’s good value and friendly/efficient service. But stopped in for a breakfast bap and was charged basically the same price as the full English. It wasn’t even very good and sides of coleslaw, crisps and salad very random. They’ve lost my custom unfortunately.

A master class in 'how it should be done'! This cafe surpasses all others in terms of first class service, speed, quality and value for money. It is the perfect example of how to run a business; no other like it!

Without a doubt, the best breakfast in Cheltenham. We come regularly and think it is fantastic. Service and quality of food is top notch!

Haven't been here for 20 years and called in today. Had the breakfast special which was absolutely fantastic and a great mug of tea. Lovely staff. It's a 10 from me.

What had happened to this place. I haven’t been here for a while and as I was in Cheltenham thought I would get some breakfast. Bacon sandwich the bread was wet and soggy. The bacon and egg baguette tasted horrible. Not sure I will use again. Come on Spencer’s you are better than this

Great selection on the menu from a breakfast to a dinner with excellent desserts also. Staff very helpful and polite and friendly. Service was quick food piping hot could ask or a better service. First visit to the establishment but next time in Cheltenham this will be a priority to visit for food regardless on time of day

This is an inexpensive restaurant in the heart of Cheltenham. It is ideal for a quick bite, while on a shopping trip. The staff are really friendly and helpful, and you don't have to wait too long too be served. The menu caters for all tastes. My wife had a coronation chicken sandwich. I had the same as a baguette. It was reasonable in price. I would have liked mine a little more spicy, but it was OK. We had a pot of tea for two, and it was no trouble for the waitress to add more water when asked. We would definitely go again. We would have had a desert, but didn't need one-perhaps next time.

Would NOT recommend this place in the slightest. One member of staff was very over the top. The food was absolutely awful and my partner actually felt slightly poorly after. The cottage pie is NOT homemade! It was awful and the chips were FOUL! Gravy poured all over the food too with no option given of where you would like it. The quiche and salad was just ok with little taste. The decor inside is very dated and wallpaper hanging off the wall and cello-taped on the walls. Not a great place in the slightest and I would not return. We refused to pay for the cottage pie as it was awful and not eaten and then I was changed more for the one main meal I had! I questioned the bill at the end and the guy making the drinks was very very rude and not helpful with the receipt. He only said we would see it after we paid and was still charged more.

I am really impressed as fussy eaters this cafe really did a good job! Service was welcoming and quick. The lady serving us is lovely! Food came out hot and cooked to perfection! I will definitely be back! I am also impressed that they gave me the choice of mayonnaise or vinaigrette on my salad as normally it’s put on before coming out. I would definitely recommend coming here best cafe I’ve been to in a while. Thank you guys for the great service.

My friends and I popped in for brekkie on a Sunday morning. It was perfect for us, really quick service, options for all tastes on the menu. I can recommend the waffles, delicious! Cheap, cheerful, tired decor but that didn’t bother us.

Missed this place a lot! Our first meal after lockdown. They set up the place perfectly with separating walls between tables so it’s really safe and professional! We always love coming here, welcoming, friendly staff and huge selection of food, always fresh and tasty.

Looking for somewhere to eat whilst looking round Cheltenham and saw a sign with Spencers Cafe and followed the arrow. When we got to the cafe we were amazed how many people were going there too. We went inside and it seemed full but managed to find a table in the second room. We had no longer sat down when the waitress came with a menu and asked what we wanted to drink. Two minutes later another waitress came with the drinks and took our order. We did not have to wait too long for our meal and when it came it was presented really well and it was delicious. It has been a long time since we have been in a restaurant/cafe where the service has been so good, the girls serving were lovely and couldn't do enough for you and the presentation and food was really good too. Well done Spencers Cafe for having such a good team. Would recommend to anyone when visiting Cheltenham. Thank you for a good experience.

Popped in her today for lunch with my son (my 1st ever visit) and what a lovely lunch it was, very good and varied menu and very reasonable prices, when the food arrived I was surprised at the size of the meals ( couldn’t actually finish it all, though I did try!!) will definitely be going back and would highly recommend

Vinimos aquí cuando pasábamos y parecía ocupado. No estoy seguro de si él era el dueño, pero nos ayudó con la silla de paseo y fue muy servicial, ya que probablemente lo hubiéramos dejado y seguido en lugar de exprimirnos. Cotswold Friends a small group of retired people go out once a month for breakfast and made our second vist of year to Spencers and we all enjoyed the breakfasts very much and the service was excellent

Lovely atmosphere, staff and food. I came here as my friend was home from Uni and he recommended we go here for lunch. Food was excellent, delicious and left me feeling happy and full! I ordered a Bacon and Brie sandwich which came with coleslaw, salad and crisps and also ordered a side of chips- came to about £9 which is excellent value.

Back up from a glorious week at the Cheltenham festival and like past years stop at Spencer’s for Breakfast and it just gets better the food is brilliant and Richard and the staff are outstanding from the minute you walk in their a fantastic welcome and to you leave heartfelt goodbye the breakfast is also fantastic I don’t think Spencer’s can be beaten god willing we can return next year thanks again Richard and all the staff from Valerie Julie Nicola and myself

Spencer's is a regular haunt for us, whenever we want a good value meal while shopping in Cheltenham. Just a short step from the high street this busy cafe serves delicious cooked-to-order meals at an affordable price. Ok, so the tables are crammed in close to each other, but the food really is good, and there is something of a family atmosphere. We usually have the "kebab": loads of marinated chicken breast pieces with rice, pitta and salad - fill up for under £8. (NB: This is NOT a kebab shop - this is just one item on a varied menu.) Amazing deserts too. Check it out!

Wonderful experience at this café on both occasions we have visited, right from the warm welcome as we went through the door to the moment we left. Service was prompt and food came to table quickly. Staff are alert to the customers - noticed very quickly that my son needed a straw for his drink and brought it over and interacted with him. We had food and drinks for 2 children and an adult and bill came to just over £19. Portions were generous and well cooked. We will definitely return again and highly recommend a visit.

Have visited a few times over past year or so. This place is popular and busy, lots of waiting staff but you don't wait long at all for food, even if it is really busy. Food is great, see my pic of eggs and avo hollandaise on muffins.. OMG delicious. Well priced too.

On our annual Christmas shopping trip to Cheltenham we chanced upon Spencers Cafe.What a fortunate find! There is obviously a policy to greet people and make sure they are happily settled.Service was prompt and friendly, I would describe it as 'relaxed efficiency'! I reviewed Spencers last year but feel I need to do it again. My mates and I come down for the racing every November. This year we ate in spencers every night.

Don't get to Cheltenham much but when we do we always make time for a visit to Spencers . Food is well priced and always tasty and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. I had scrambled egg on toast with bacon & hubbie had poached egg & bacon, yummy.

Came across by chance, due to lovely weather and overlooked cafes suddenly stand out due to Al fresco Dining.

Just visited with a friend for something to eat before the England game with a friend. Ordered fish and chips with a salad as advertised in their menu. However was very disappointed when the meal arrived and the chips were missing. Apparently it was my fault for asking for a salad even though it clearly states it comes with the fish and chips. If you want fish and chips probably best avoid and go to a fish and chip shop.

Popped in for lunch,always good food here and great friendly service.Portions are good value to.Service is quick sometimes they are a little too quick to clear your plate when your other friend has not finished otherwise a great place and always go there when in town.

Stopped in Cheltenham 26/05/18 on way to Taunton as M5 was saying severe delays. Parked car and saw this very clean place. Staff very friendly and helpful. Menu looks lovely, toilets clean and now the but my burger was ok but wasn't fresh it was a cheap frozen burger with not so nice cheese slice. My wife,s ham sandwich was on cheap white bread your chatprging a premium price get decent bread , granddaughter tuna salad was fresh and looked good. Mayo /tomato sauce were either lidl or aldi but definitely no flavour made the burger worst . Think I,ll try elsewhere next time

I have been here a few times and the food is great. I have never tasted fresher salad in a cafe before. It appears to be freshly made rather than poured out of a packet. The lasagne is one of the best I have tried. Staff are all very friendly and polite. Food arrives in good time. Also it is great value for money.

I've reviewed Spencers before, a while ago, but as we went back this weekend I thought it was only right to review again. Yes, it's still the best cooked breakfast we've ever had.

Very nice cafe which takes us back to what cafes should be like however 10 notes for breakfast just shows the state of play in another 10 years. With a fair selection of food to suite most peoples needs and the layout to please most peoples needs I will be back sooner rather than later.

We have visited many times and have always received a good value for money meal. Firstly the staff are very effective and efficient. You receive a warm welcome and are shown to a table and they’re always ready to help and accommodate you if you need it particularly if you have a disability or small children. The beverages are served almost instantly and the hot food comes out fairly quickly afterwards. Yes, the hot food is hot and not warm as in some establishments.

Just off the high street this is a good find. An independant coffee shop with food as well. You won't need to walk far to the shops, they are all around !!

Went down to Cheltenham races with my friends for the weekend. We were their 3 nights and ate in Spencers every night. Staff are nice and friendly, food is very good. Prices are excellent and the portions are more than generous. I would recommend stopping in here for something to eat if you are visiting Cheltenham.
