We took a chance after reading good reviews. We were blown by service and the ambience. Charlotte served us so well. The owner Miska came over to help also. Very friendly place and the tapas excellent. Not expensive either.

This place is about as Spanish as a budget caravan park in Bognor Regis, and somehow manages to be even less exciting. The food is staggeringly uninspired, hovering between bland and outright regrettable. Take the so-called “Spanish” sardines: proudly touted as authentic, they were revealed to have traveled from Spain in the least culinary way possible—a tin can—only to meet their tragic end dumped lukewarm onto a sad puddle of balsamic vinegar. If there’s any claim to Italian authenticity in that ingredient, I’d wager it’s as dubious as this restaurant’s supposed Spanish roots. An insult to cuisine on both sides of the Mediterranean. Save your money and try somewhere else.

Great find...staying briefly in Gloucester & this tapas restaurant was opposite our accommodation, Premier Inn at Gloucester Quays. Fabulous food, and service.

We recently discovered this amazing restaurant next to the now-closed Beefeater, opposite the Premier Inn. It is compact with Bar and limited tables indoors but has tables outside under umbrellas so good for the summer. The interior is warm and inviting. You feel like you are somewhere on holiday and not in the miserable UK! The food is very authentic Spanish Tapas - a good variety of small dishes to cater to all tastes. They have premium draught Estrella and other good beers, wines and spirits. Service is quick, friendly and very personal. They accept cashless including Crypto which was a surprise, simply paying on the way out. Prices are mid-range, but still good value for great healthy food. They have amazing crepes and specialty dishes to try. Not found anything I didn't like yet. Really happy to discover this little gem in Gloucester.

We enjoyed some excellent breakfasts and coffees during our recent stay in Gloucester Quays. Pavol and his staff go out of their way to provide you with a first class dining experience. Highly recommended.

Just behind the Premier Inn, diagonally opposite the Costa drive-through. Came here for lunch with a friend. She is coeliac so needs to be careful when eating out but there are plenty of gf options on the menu here. We both enjoyed the savoury crêpes and the friendly service. Looking forward to going back

We had a very late lunch here and it is a lovely place to spend time in. The service is very good. We selected three tapas each plus drinks. Absolutely delicious. Among standard tapas dishes, the meatballs came in a thick homemade tomato sauce and the fried potatoes had a lovely dip. Special mention should also be made of the artichokes and the cauliflower done three ways. We'd not seen those on a tapas menu before and they were outstanding. Good selection of drinks and wines - this is a place you could just pop into for drinks. Others were having coffee and a dessert - the sweet looked amazing. It's not often you get somewhere as good as this next door to a Premier Inn.

I absolutely love Spago it is my favourite place to eat in Gloucester, I started visiting Spago on my own and instantly I felt the comfort and friendly environment. The food is always delicious and I am never disappointed. Sometimes when I go out for food I feel like I waste my money but here you will never feel like that. Catching up with friends, family couples or solo I highly recommend this spot. The coffee is delicious, and the breakfast especially starts your day good. I can’t honestly say all dishes are beautifully presented! The tapas is lovely and always tasting great…. As you can see by my pictures I am a regular! Pablo and his wife are always so welcoming, the Italian girl is so friendly and always smiling, their positivity and smiles go a long way! You will not regret visiting this place, it’s a clean chilled cosy environment you will not be disappointed. Make this your go to like me(:

For us, Spago is the best restaurant in Gloucester. From the lovely, friendly staff to the the highest quality of ingredients serving the most stunning of dishes this place is an absolute gem. Easy parking, close to Gloucester Quays and other bars and restaurants, it's no surprise that Spago is the place for both locals and visitors. Give it a whirl - you'll be delighted you did.

Love ❤️ this local family run place … quality, freshly made food. Hands down beats any of the plethora of samey chain restaurants at Gloucester quays. Lovely friendly staff. Tapas is delicious and authentic AND if you like banana and peanut butter, their special ‘bananutter’ pancake with caramel sauce is heaven on a plate !!! Thoroughly recommend for brunch, lunch and evening meals … plus look out for their special theme evenings … they are not to be missed !

An absolute hidden gem. And family owned and operated too, not a chain! My favourite place in Gloucester (UK). A fabulous (and slightly different) menu, covering sweet and savoury crepes/pancakes, superb tapas and some delicious homemade desserts. I went for the egg and avocado crepe with a side order of spanish sardines which were absolutely superb, dressed with a chilli oil and some pickled red onion slices. The perfect light lunch, not cheap but excellent value and quality and beautifully presented. Probably the best coffee available in Gloucester too, the flat white (served with a home made cinnamon biscuit!) was just about perfect. They also have an excellent wine list, although I didn;t indulge as was working! Tucked away at the back end of the Gloucester Quays, opposite Costa Conme (no comparison!) so not obvious to find, but when you do, you'll be glad you did!

First class meal. The tapas is as good as any tapas restaurant in Spain. Actually, it's probably better. Would definitely recommend. Thank you for a very enjoyable meal. Will definitely be back

And oh-boy the Crepes were great and the Tapas excellent. Wish I could give 6 stars to emphasis how good everything was. The crepes were cooked, sounds silly, but they weren't the flabby things that you often get given, the option of fillings are imaginative, and really tasty. The Tapas was sublime, the Gambas was the best hot prawns I've ever been served! The service was excellent and atmosphere and experience was such that we returned the following night to experience a wider variety of the menu. Don't be put off by this unit being temporarily separated by a "development site" from the main Bakers Quay eateries, it has it's own parking, and is so convenient if you're staying at the Premier Inn.

3 of us staying at Premier Inn very close and spotted Spago. Went in quite late asked if still serving Tapas waitress checked with kitchen and with a very welcoming smile said yes, and showed us to a table for four. Wonderful and such fresh tapas and a great variety. As mentioned in previous review, drinks (chose apple and mango) came in small bottles but very tasty and sufficient. Extremely warm and welcoming and helpful staff. All the Tapas tasted fantastic especially empanadas also had some house special tapas - delicious. Also super homemade bread. Would definitely go again when visiting Gloucester. Thank you all.

Ambiance The restaurant looks gorgeous, very cosy and warm looking, modern and fun. Welcome When we arrived, I must say I didn't feel welcomed by the chap. I'd like a friendlier hello, but that might be me. He showed us to our table for 2, and I do not jest when I say it was 4cm from another table for 2. The waiter walked off and I asked to sit at another table. There aren't many tables for 2 at all. If you are in a two, just be warned that you will hear everything of the people next to you. And vice versa. We sat on a table for 4 which was very well lit and comfortable. It took a little longer than necessary to take our drinks order. Most nonalcoholic drinks on the menu are about 200ml. Which are really mixers, not decent drink sizes. I ordered a ginger ale, (which doesn't mention a size on the menu) and it too was a measly 200ml. Served without ice it only half filled a tumbler. The food order was taken by the friendly waitress. We wanted a tapas but they didn't have any left but took a recommendation for a different one. Food Incredible. Gorgeous tapas, very small plates (tapas is my favourite food so we have it a lot). But very good quality. We had pork and apple. The pork was as long as my finger, and cost about £8/£9. But everything was well cooked and tasty. Our bill was about £50 for lunch, 5 tapas, a ginger ale and spanish grape cider. Overall, a bit pricey, but very good food.

Had a family get together before Xmas and it was just perfect. The atmosphere was so warm and welcoming and the food delicious. Will definitely be returning. The only slight issue was the jug of sangria which I didn't find particularly good value. Small jug for the price. Absolutely loved everything else.
