Lovely lunch of gluten free toasties today. Came with salad, coleslaw and crisps. Dogs welcome. Knocked one star off as we wanted a gluten free cake but they were next to gluten containing cakes with no covers on to prevent contamination. They were in a separate area for cakes for those with dietary needs but I couldn't see that the utensils used for gluten free weren't also used for the other cakes in that section, some of which did contain gluten.

I was invited to a 60th Birthday Afternoon Tea at the Monk's Kitchen. What a wonderful place! Being a really awkward dairy intolerant (mentioned before my visit) I was treated like an absolute Queen! All the staff were absolutely wonderful, patient, attentive and genuinely pleased to see us and the Manager even found me some non dairy cream in his own time on his journey home. Honestly I cannot recommend this place highly enough, the food was absolutely delicious - the service superb and we waddled out with smiles on our faces. Thoroughly recommend!

Tucked away in what I guess are the old stables, you can find a light tasty meal, cakes, hot drinks. Not at all religiously themed if that puts you off. Whether or not you believe in any god or not that hungry, it is difficult not to be impressed by the amazing architecture built I believe just under 1000 years ago

I've not dined from the usual menu there, it was a charity event. The volunteers were amazing and the food tasty. I've walked through on many occasions, visiting Gloucester Cathedral. Small cafe, very comfortable, peaceful vibe. Visit the beautiful Cathedral and sit in the cosy Monk's Kitchen.

A nice traditional café with reasonable prices and friendly service. It's quite small inside. There are 2 entrances; one from outside the cathedral and one from inside, and both can be quite tricky to find. There are also a few Gloucester Cathedral themed gifts for sale in the café.

I was really disappointed at a tiny portion of quiche with an awfully crumbly pastry for £9.50. I advised the staff to let the chef know that their shortcrust was poor quality to be told that it is gluten free to cater for everyone. Shame you can’t just cook a good quiche. The coffee is also average and I wouldn’t go back. I think there are better places to eat and better coffee in Gloucester city centre.

I went into your cafe for the first time today - I ordered a cheese and onion toastie and a cup of coffee. I was given the coffee at the till and told that my toastie would be brought to the table. I sat down and waited around 20 minutes, by which time I had finished my cup of coffee. The food had still not arrived, so I asked if I could have a glass of water to have with my food. The waitress was incredibly rude and told me that I should have said I wanted my coffee at the same time as my food when I placed my order! I had never heard anything so ridiculous in my life! How am I meant to know this is what I ‘should have done,’ I felt so annoyed at the attitude of the woman. She then said I was the first person to ever make this complaint! Needless to say I will not be returning to this place again. The food is good but the customer service is appalling. 🙁

Wow! We were a group of 7 (3 kids inc) and we were all blown away by the quality and efficiency of how well the Afternoon Tea was. We had a slight hiccup but the staff were great at resolving it and it didn't hugely affect our experience or afternoon. We took a gamble going here and boy were we glad we did, my auntie and mum were particularly impressed and very happy to plan their next trip back already!! I called up to make the booking only the day before, made a few requests on types of sandwiches and scones, and it was just as Catherine had explained on the call, her suggestions were super helpful and appreciated too especially when ordering for kids. The cafe itself was nice and modern and cozy too, as we were quite a big group with kids we were a bit loud now and then (as you'd expect) and we did notice some of the other patrons were not too impressed with this so we tried to keep it down as much as we could. Clean toilets which I think were shared with the cathedral visitors too but enough and pleasant enough. I definitely recommend this and would definitely like to come back for the right occasion. Thank you again to all the team there today you made it a special time for us all xx

Was disappointed with our visit. Came here as I saw a post online saying it was toddler friendly and they had a little area with a sofa and toys but that must have been out of date as this wasn't the case. We came in after the main lunchtime rush (about 2.15) but had to wait in line for ages to order. There was only one poor lady on the till also making all the drinks etc. A lot of options were unavailable, no paninis or brown bread for example. Poor selection of dietary restriction friendly options (only one vegan cake which was a blackcurrant crumble). My dairy, egg, soya and garlic allergic boy couldn't have anything at all from the menu, not even bread (not totally unusual but disappointing all the same). Food when it came was bland - edible and fine but nothing to write home about. The toilets weren't great (smelt strongly of urine) and baby changing room felt dirty. Wouldn't return.

Perfect for a traditional treat. When I want a quick drink and cake I bypass all the national chains and head here. Drinks, both hot and cold, are the standard fare though the pot of tea is always my choice as it makes two good cups. They're not stingy with the milk either. However, the cake selection is varied and always a little different from other places. I usually find something I've not had before. For one small family celebration, we ordered in advance: cream tea and sandwiches for five people. Generous portions, presented beautifully. We just about managed it all. Prices are about right for a city centre café but nothing can match the interior decor and the general vibe of the place. The old pew seating might look comfortable but always numbs my nether regions after a while. YMMV. Call ahead, if you can, as it can get crowded, especially in Summer.

Have to say I was disappointed today. Had soup, charged more than displayed price. Small portion and could have been hotter. Asked for white bread got brown and only one butter portion. They have gluten free options!! There were 6 different gluten free homemade cakes to choose from, which made me feel like a normal person who can actually CHOOSE what to eat, rather than a sad celiac who usually just has the option of a packaged gf brownie. The gf Victoria sponge was amazing, the best I've had since my diagnosis. They have separate tongs for picking up gluten free cake, (though the server almost forgot to use them and needed reminding, I think he was just in a rush.) This shows a pretty good awareness of allergies, so I have hope that their kitchen practices are good too. Overall, delicious cake for a bargain price in a gorgeous location- what's not to love?

Dreadful cream tea. Microwaved scones which as a result became too soft to have as part of a cream tea. Could they have said there will be wait while the scones could be warmed in the oven to warm up and be crispier ? I assume they have one as they serve baked potatoes. The preparation was sloppy just like the scone. Very poor indeed.....
