Took chips out of the “ready” pan and refried them to heat them back up whilst I was watching. Then proceeded to serve me them recycled chips.

Yummy and Friendly, good value.

Delicious food, best we've had in a while. We'll definitely be back! Well cooked, piping hot. The fish was freshly cooked for us (very crunchy crisp batter and but fish not overcooked), chips were plentiful and drinks were very reasonably priced. It's cash only like most chippies these days. The couple are friendly and kind. (I hope you make JHJ in Sept) x

Nov 23: Tried again, 5yrs after initial review...nope! Would not go back. Chips were awful, fish not much better and expensive - over £10 for fish n chips!! Place seemed clean enough but service wasn't great, no smiles and very little customer interaction. Only accept cash, no card or contactless. Back to Coney Hill chippy from now on! Nov 19; Only been a couple of times, had battered sausage and chips - didn't feel too well both times so haven't been back. Chips were nice though and the service was fast n friendly. Place looked clean enough. Would give them a go again but maybe avoid the sausage next time.

Small chips for £2.00. Massive portion and amazing taste!! I tend to eat at a different chippy but would advise eating from here from now on! Definitely will be going back soon

Used to go here as a kid so even though its changed hands you still get good service and value especially on a budget could'nt finish all chips . Only issue was people with no masks on fortunately not peak time so could keep distance still recommend though

I'd thought I'd tasted the best chips in the shire until I was passing when hungry one Saturday afternoon, chequers chippy and decided to give them a try. I'm glad I did as they surprised me . The price is tempting enough let alone the gorgeous food. If I could give them 6 I would . First class fish freshly cooked and not one bad chip and plenty of them. Going back to the price I mentioned. This visit was an order for 3 people and was nearly £7 cheaper than the last chippie I visited . Definitely recommendable in my book . Will be going back in the near future. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Over priced for the standard of food, the oil needs changing for sure. I would advise not going on a busy night as standards slip. Disappointing

Hats off to this chippy! Coming from Bristol with a huge selection of good chip shops, this place is on top form and puts its place on the map for Gloucester in my eyes. The fish batter was crispy cooked fresh with good thick fleshy cod which just about fitted in the box. Served with a wedge of lemon. Chips were cut to perfection. Clean environment. As for prices it’s around 7 or 8 quid. But worth every penny.

Miserable woman behind the counter, didn’t crack a smile, chips had definitely been warmed up. Cheapest sausage I’ve ever tasted. Cheeseburger tasted vile. Won’t be returning.

As a regular customer I can say that this is a great chip shop, some of the best fish and chips I've had. They've drastically improved the selection and quality of their food recently, as well as the takeaway itself.

Always used Chequers chippy in the past but hadnt been there for a while. Was really pleased to see the place had been refurbished and it looks brilliant new equipment etc. We had the small fish and chips and it tasted great well worth a visit.
