I ordered a large pot of olives from the counter, I pay and its not until Im home that I see they've barely filled the pot more than halfway! At £6.80 a large pot I feel I have grounds for at least mild dismay. Nice treatment of a regular customer.

Had a pastrami (half) baguette this morning. Incredibly sparse filling with the pastrami doubled over so that it looks like there is more filling than there actually is. Could honestly taste nothing but bread. Will not be revisiting.

Cat & Wheel is a cozy pub with a friendly atmosphere, perfect for a casual drink. I visited on Tuesday and enjoyed the free pool (also available on Mondays), which was a great bonus. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and there’s a small £5 deposit for a pool cue, which is fair. Overall, a relaxed spot with good vibes and decent facilities.

went here today whilst on a walk , it was just before 4 on a sunday and couldnt see any signs up to check the times. As hospitality workers we know how annoying it can be to ask for drinks just before closing, so we just wanted to check they were still open- lots of people sat in the cafe but no one ordering so they could have well be on their way to close. When asking if they were still open, the server with red hair sneered at us ‘what do you expect its a full cafe’ and was laughing and it was just unnessecarily rude to dog someone up like that , we were just trying to be helpful. Other than that coffee was lush it was perfectly fine- i dont ever write reviews but you dont need to be rude to customers who are being harmless

We came for drinks as we are locals to the area - we were not attempting to do the 10 before 10 challenge at all. After 3/4 half pints my partner and I went outside for a cigarette and were accosted by an elderly lady who told us she was the owner. Despite telling us we were okay to go inside and finish our drinks she followed us inside and harassed our table, attempting to force us to leave. The friends that I was with had gotten another round while we were having a cigarette and one of the young male bartenders accused us of lying and being drunk unruly guests after only 3/4 drinks and despite the venue being packed with university students. Overall a very negative experience and I felt me and my partner were stereotyped for being effeminate while having a cigarette because the manager was quite pleasant until that point. Would not recommend when there are many more accepting pubs that offer the same special cider.

Over the past few years we have always been accommodated very well at the Cottage Inn, however… Last Friday we booked a table on site at the bar for Sunday lunch, two persons and four dogs, at 2:15pm, booth in the corner. When the confirmation email came through it said 4:30pm…. Went back in on the Saturday and the manager said “Sorry, must have been a mistake, we can do 3:30pm, nothing available earlier…”. We double-checked it was the same table and she confirmed. We agreed, no problem. Turned up on Sunday 3:30pm, went to our table which had a sign on it “reserved 15:30 4 people”. We assumed it was ours so sat down ready to order. The manager then came up to us and said that we couldn’t sit there as it was reserved for four people. We were to go on a high table with the four dogs. When we said we booked it two days ago and we even came in the next day to confirm time and table, she was adamant that we could only have the high table, and she insisted she never said it would be the booth in the corner… Suffice to say we left feeling very disgusted. Where has customer service gone in this country? It was a nice, warm, sunny Sunday afternoon. Lots of people around looking for food and drinks. Is it just greed that makes people treat customers like that???
