Been here before and it was fine. However the staff they have now are incredibly Rude.

Lovely local bar and restaurant. Food was good. Highly recommend the pizzas and loaded fries. Toilet facilities weren't great and could do with sorting. Staff were helpful and service was quick.

Nice venue. Good selection is drinks. Quite a fun atmosphere, especially in the summer. Food can be a little hit or miss. The Nachos are good though.

I love this friendly bar. It's a perfect position to sit outside on a sunny day but just as cost in winter. Good choice reasonably priced wine. Can sometimes run out of beers when really busy

The food was fantastic (lovely selection of beautifully handmade burgers, quality ingredients) and they worked hard to accommodate my wife's egg and milk allergies.. very impressed. Beer & service good too. Recommend booking a table (phone after 5pm) just in case.

Southside is a great place, it only gets 4 stars though, because it isn't open that often.

Delicious burgers and decent selection of drinks, small and compact, good for couples and small groups.

A good place to get a bun and a burger (mine was very nice and chips excellent) but the atmosphere lacks a little love and warmth. Candles would have been nice. Plus the cutlery was minimal - just a fork and a napkin. I like to remove the top of my bun and eat with a knife and fork Danish style. It was busyish the evening I was there but i imagine it's handy for locals. At the end of the day it's about the food which was great!

Decent bar. Food is nice. Opening hours can be a bit all over the place and sometimes they run out of certain items and take weeks to replace them.

Se detuvo a tomar una copa. El personal es amable. Buenos cócteles. La comida se veía y olía increíble. Muy bien decorado.

Over priced & indifferent service

Me encantan las hamburguesas en Southside y diría que son uno de los mejores en Bristol, patty perfectamente sazonada, increíbles rollos de brioche y grandes patatas fritas y ensalada que acompañan a la hamburguesa. Muy recomendable, especialmente el trato de los miércoles Burger & Pint por diez dólares.

Apareció para una cena temprana. Gran cerveza de barril y realmente disfruté las tapas interesantes. Coliflor frita del sur era deliciosa

Best chips in this part of town. Burger deal on Wednesday and tapas on Thursday amazing value for money - quality food and friendly upbeat staff! Will be visiting soon :)

Lovely local independent bar serving great cocktails, beers, largers. Good choice of freshly cooked food, small plates & family friendly food in evenings. Sunny spot to sit outside.

I was dragged to Southside 2 weeks ago on a chilly Thursday night after a rather long & difficult week. Well I was soon feeling much more cheerful! We ordered from the 3/4/2 Tapas : lamb Kofta (absolutely fantastic) Falafel (very tasty & hot!) with sourdough bread & olive oil with chips ( Devine so crunchie) all washed down with a cider for me & craft ale for my husband. Food was fantastic, service prompt & friendly. I will be back very soon. Thanks Southside!!

Good food, good drinks selection and nice staff, little cramped inside though

This is a good little bar. I would have given it an excellent rating up until my last visit. Previously we had had small plates (aubergine and pomegranate, chargrilled courgette and fried chickpeas) that were fantastic. On our last visit we learned there was a new chef and the menu had changed. The chips are still very good but the garlic mushrooms I could cook myself and the carrot dish was unpleasant with large chunks of hard carrot! Hoping the menu changes a bit as I do like going there.

A great bar with nice atmosphere and typical modern hipstery food! When we ate there the menu was mostly burgers. My girlfriend had a chicken burger with gorgeous cheesy chips and I had a falafel wrap with hummus, harissa and an amazing fennel and yoghurt coleslaw. Good beer selection - Brooklyn on bottle and Paulaner, Estrella Damm and Bristol Beer Factory on tap. Of particular note are the onion rings - essentially tempura tobacco onions. Delectable! Recommended.

Good cocktails and helpful staff

One of our favourite place around south Bristol.Always good atmosphere with good music in the background and good food. A place where you want to be to feel good!

Good atmosphere, guests beers, cheap burger deal on Wednesdays until 9 pm. They have heaters for the outside area as well as being partially sheltered from the rain, if there is rain. Toilet could use some work but flushes fine.

Popped in there a couple of times, and its always decent atmos, decent beers, and lively. Plus, outside is a little sun trap. The food is really simple but very tasty, reasonably priced and ive seen them badly done at other supposed hipster type bars. Lamb stew was really good in particular. Staff are also friendly. Overall, very cool little bar!

Love this place, lovely food, cosy size, nice wines and laid back friendly staff. Ask about their burger and drink deals. Not many cool places as you go up the Wells Road so this is a welcome addition. Great chips and slaw.

Quality, satisfying food, small but perfectly formed menu, friendly staff.

Fantastic food, nice selection and made very well. Very slow drinks service, inconsistent cocktails. Took a very long time to make a handful of drinks. Even simple things like gin and tonic took five minutes. Nice for a meal with a drink, not great as a cocktail bar (which it claims to be)

Great feeling hipster bar. Had breakfast here ages back, was good. Also been for Wednesday burger /beer offer £10. Burger was good quality with fantastic thick chips cooked to centre.

I'm a bit confused by the ratings for Southside, I think it's a friendly and welcoming venue and have even visited solo. As a local, I frequently visit with friends and have always found the staff to be helpful and chatty. The burgers they serve are one of the best I've ever had! The prices are very reasonable which makes it a venue to come back to time and time again.

What I love about this bar is that I get the feeling that I've had a night out even though I've stayed local. The cocktails are delicious, my favourite is the Thai daiquiri which is a nice fresh twist on a classic. The wine list is also very good and more often than not I go for the house which still tastes like a quality wine. The food menu is a combination of small tapas style dishes or more filling burgers. Great ambience, friendly staff. Definitely my favourite local spot!

I went here to meet a friend for a few post work cocktails, I loved it! Lovely fresh & interesting takes on old classics. I especially enjoyed the espresso martini, good strong coffee & decent booze! I didn't get to try the food but it looked great when I saw it coming out, would definitely go back for a burger! Service was quick & friendly too!

Let me say from the outset that I had not read the poor ratings before I went and glad I didn't. We went because my wife, a qualified chef had previously eaten here with a fussy friend and enjoyed it. We both eat out a lot, enjoy trying different things and different places. We both really really enjoyed the meal we just had. Meat platter, king prawns, slaw, curried parsnips and roasted cauliflower. We were served quickly and by friendly staff, were never rushed and the food came freshly cooked and prepared. If you want fine dining with tablecloths and refinery OK this is not for you. If you fancy tasty food, freshly cooked with some wonderful flavours and good sized portions this could be your ticket. Really enjoyed it.

Great burger and drink deal on a Wednesday

Waited ages to be served only to be really disappointed with the food when it arrived. Serving fries in a tiny enamel cup is pretentious! It's tiny and cramped. It's cold. Drinks are expensive. I think the only reason people go there is that there...

Went on a very quiet night & waited 10 minutes to receive our menus then got up & found them ourselves, only to discover that half the pages were missing in one of them. Waited another 10 minutes while the manager stacked some shelves, talked...

We enjoyed sitting outside and watching the world go by Wells Road. Lovely food and nice cocktails. Gets a bit cramped during busy hours though. But nothing you can do about that.

If I have one suggestion for the charmingly compact Office, nestled just off of the Wells Road, it would be that if you're going to serve cocktails, you need to be able to get a good one whomsoever of the staff makes it. (They're a little bit variable at the moment.) That said, their food offerings are nothing short of spectacular for such a small venue, and are well-sourced and imaginitively presented, and The Office has a delightfully laid back ambience, especially on the way home after a hard week's work.

A real gem of a place in an area not otherwise particularly well populated by good bars. We stumbled upon the Canteen having moved into the area... it is so discrete that it took us a week to notice it! Having spotted the place we have become hooked. They serve a small but well chosen range of beer, wines and spirits but what I really like was the perfect dry martini served by the wonderful Gemma. When she is there in charge of the bar you really shouldn't be drinking anything other than cocktails. The food too is excellent... a selection of tapas, dips and nibbles ranging from the familiar to the more unusual. Comfortable seating inside and a small outside area, can get busy so I'd recommend larger groups to book themselves a table (and do it soon!).
