The place we ended up in, was rammed and such a great atmosphere, had the infamous pipe dream, well two of them, don't remember much after that.

For some odd reason, unbeknown to me, i was subject to really rude service. Tried to speak to the employee and the manager but was laughed at. It's all very strange.

Loved this place. Had a few drinks in here and played some quiz game. Lovely staff and good location.

Absolutely banging roast. Pork belly is ludicrously tasty! Compliments to all involved.

Sunday roast Lovely lamb, full of flavour and quality, crunchy potatoes, hot and yummy I would loved some green vegetables as very little If that changes the score would be 5*

Had a lovely Sunday mixed roast yesterday consisting of lamb, pork with crackling and beef and the usual vegetables and roast potatoes. Tasty and generous portions - see photo, this is good value at £20 for a Bristol venue. Lara and Emma were great at service and the bar. Bonus was when my son and his girlfriend settled the bill as a treat! Will definitely return!

Everything was great! The food was really yummy, and the service couldn't be better. It's very rare to find attentive and friendly waiters/waitresses but here everyone is great. The waitress even grabbed us some coffee from next door and tried to accommodate us so we could stay longer. The cocktails are awesome too, id say one of the best bloody mary i tried. Its always great to come here and i will be returning soon. Thank you!

Today's experience has been incredible. As usual the food was delicius and the cocktails too. The team was very attentive. The waitress who brought us coffee from somewhere else is a GOAT. Thanks guys! We will be back very soon.

Great roast! The lamb was delicious, my partner got the mixed and the pork was overcooked and slightly burnt on one end, which is the reason for the 4 instead of 5. Everything else was yummy though and the staff were lovely and even made us some cocktails that weren’t on the menu. Good value, nice roast :)

Beauts Sunday roast for my birthday !!! Tushi’s roasts are some of the best around bris, portion sizes are generous and it all tasted so good! Service is so attentive, Lara and Sam looked after our table so well, such a great team here. X

Heard the burgers there were supposed to be amazing, they were good so no complaints at all, definitely worth trying but I wouldn't categorise them as amazing. People serving we alright, friendly but didn't check if there was anything extra we needed. Atmosphere was dead.

I was on business and my colleague saw great reviews on TripAdvisor so we gave it a whirl. GREAT burgers ! I'm not generally a 'burger person' but I ordered a smash budget, my colleague ordered the burger with blue cheese.. both exceeded expectations, lovely! I had an issue a few days later, I realised I had been charged twice. Once I contacted the team, this was dealt with really quickly and refunded. An honest mistake, but handled really well. Highly recommended, and I'll defo visit again next time I'm on business!

Fantastic roast dinner, despite being fully booked they even squeezed me onto the bar. I had the vege roast, not a weak link on the plate, the yorkie was nicely crispy to soak up all the lovely flavours left in the gravy. Look forward to the next (I may book next time)

Really difficult to find a good roast these days but this one was yum! Nice to have chicken as an option as lots of places don’t anymore.

We arrived and they didn't have our booking but were really quick in accomodating us!! Drinks were quick and the staff were really friendly and relaxed. Food was outstanding, and served with lots of gravy! The leekes gratin was delicious! Would 100% reccomend! My only negative was that the guy serving us drinks pulled his facemask down to talk to us which really defeats the point of the mask.

Had the hot wings and they are literally my favourite ever. Very reasonably priced here and great service. Don’t know who the mugs are leaving bad reviews.

Pedimos una comida para llevar (31 de enero de 2020) a Smoke and Glaze, quienes corren dentro de Pipe y pantuflas (nuestra guarida habitual). Nuestros amigos nos dijeron que se suponía que era la mejor hamburguesa de la ciudad. Acabábamos de completar Veganuary y, como regalo, elegimos la hamburguesa Hot chick (x 2), patatas fritas y alitas, y me decepcionó mucho. La comida se entregó después de que el conductor había entregado un pedido anterior. Así que tardó un poco en llegar a nosotros. Ambas hamburguesas, papas fritas y las alas estaban muy frías, el pan de la hamburguesa estaba tan empapado que la hamburguesa se vino abajo y no era comestible. La poción de papas fritas era miserable, y por el precio, ambos sentimos que nos habían estafado.Odio dejar esta reseña ya que soy un gran promotor de independientes en Bristol y solo comeré en restaurantes independientes. La calidad puede ser mejor en el lugar, sin embargo, ambos estábamos decepcionados y, por lo tanto, no volveremos a comer pronto.

Se trata de Smoke & Glaze que opera dentro del pub. He ordenado a través de deliveroo. Las hamburguesas sabían como el mar muerto. . . La comida más salada que he puesto en mi boca por mucho! Además, las hamburguesas estaban recocidas, por lo que el proceso de masticación fue largo y definitivamente no fue agradable. Tuve que beber agua sin fin para calmar mis papilas gustativas después de esta invasión de sal. No gracias.

Very dissapointing all round experience, the food was cold and lacking in any flavour / substance, the staff were rude and seemed annoyed that we were there. Would not go back.

En este pub de diseño típicamente inglés llama la atención lo bien que se come los domingos al mediodía, donde hacen unos asados tanto de cordero, como de ternera, pollo y cerdo, con su completa guarnición de verduras, que están para chuparse los dedos. El precio es más que razonable para un plato combinado de esa calidad; la única pega es que la cantidad de carne es un poco escasa. Merece la pena si estáis por alli un domingo al mediodía.

Mi compañero y yo fuimos aquí después de encontrar un trato en sus hamburguesas en la aplicación de culebreo. Al entrar, el lugar está bien decorado y tiene un ambiente confortable. El personal del bar fue muy amable y educado. Pedimos nuestras dos hamburguesas y algunas alas calientes, ¡y quedamos muy impresionados! Siempre acude a Pipe and Slippers para tomar algo, pero nunca había comido allí hasta el otro día. Tenían una oferta en la aplicación Wriggle o 2 hamburguesas y 2 bebidas para 15, así que mi amigo y yo decidimos ir. Era tranquilo en el ambiente y el ambiente siempre es bueno, el personal es amable y la música que tocan es excelente también. Pedimos nuestras hamburguesas, conseguí la hamburguesa de pollo con algunas coberturas y mi amigo pidió la hamburguesa de ternera con bistec. (por cierto, es un combo genial) ¡Nos compraron rápidamente y eran muy sabrosos! Las patatas con las que fueron servidas también eran adorables. Sin duda lo recomendaría y volveré ya que quiero probar el asado ya que me enteré de que están bien. También gracias por crear el cóctel de sueño, es revolucionario.

Ordered food from here on deliveroo they are aka "smoke and glaze" on there. Took 2 and a half hours for them to prepare it the rider got here quick but it still arrived soggy and stone cold inspected it and the holloumi fries were awful burgers were over cooked didn't even bother eating it All for £35 disgusting.

I defy anyone to find a pub or even restaurant that does a better Sunday roast. Had roast lamb in garlic & rosemary. Classic! Veg (5!) all cooked to perfection, lovely roasties and a yorkshire which is crisp on outside and soft inside . Rare...

I feel like I should write a review of this little gem of a place that we came across while visiting Bristol. The kitchen is from what I was told rented by various people as a "pop up business" well we had lunch on Saturday at 2.30ish... PM ;) I had an amazing sandwich crumbed chicken thigh with peanut sauce (it had a better name but I have forgotten it) the chips where the nicest I have had in a long long time! we also had a fab Can of green tea that the very friendly chef recommended (Arizona green tea with honey) WOW then she mentioned a company that she is also part of that sells desserts "OOWEE" so of course we got one :) it came served in a jam jar it was too die for "white choc moose with honeycomb crumble" :) we left feeling like we wished we lived nearer so we could enjoy it every day :) apparently she is on just eat and deliveroo ..... But they don't deliver to Chester :( go eat here, I promise you will not be disappointed :) I took a dessert menu so here's a cheeky pic ;)

I have to disagree with the last 2 reviews for the food from the Gourmet Sandwich Club, I happily drive half way across Bristol just to come and eat here! The Steak and Cheese Sandwiches are I actually now have a thing for spinach since having this in with the salad in my sandwich! Everyone I have recommended Gourmet Sandwich Club to has tried it and thinks it is just as good! You won't have room for dessert but I recommend getting one anyway.... to take home!!

I have given the Pipe and slippers 2 stars only because the staff were helpful and friendly. The food was simply dreadful and we ended up leaving it. There were only sandwiches on the menu and I ordered Halloumi which was ok , and my husband ordered steak and bacon which looked like minced cat food with a bit of dried streaky bacon on the top. Both had a lot of spinach greens as a salad inside. Our hand cut chips were greasy, limp and inedible. It seemed as though they had been cooked in oil that hadn't reached the right temperature. It wasn't cheap either and I have had far better from a van at the side of a layby. It looks a good drinking pub and good for socializing, but I would advise against eating there.

We Waited over an hour for food, everyone got served before us who ordered after and when it came (over an hour later) only 2 meals out of 3 arrived and they ran out of cauliflower cheese (paid extra) but didn't think to tell us until I asked. Staff were a bit rude and just stood there asking who we ordered with.. Ummm you!! There was a couple next to us who also complained and they said would never go back and a group of 4 also only 2 people got their food. Ended up leaving.. Starving!!! We were very much looking forward to the roast as we have eaten on a Saturday and that service was better. Very disappointing :(

Having previously enjoyed the Sunday roasts at their sister pubs, the Lazy Dog and the Windmill I was expecting good things from the roast at the Pipe and Slippers. They'd sold out of the lamb, which was fair enough considering we didn't eat until around 5pm, so I went for the beef instead, which was delicious and well worth the £11, I'll just have to make sure I go earlier in the day next time. Bar staff were friendly and the food was pretty quick without being rushed. Will definitely be going back for another roast!

Came in here for a couple of drinks last week and chatted to the bar staff over a pint at the bar. They were a friendly bunch and we had a laugh. The smoking area was cosy and well sheltered too.

Small, alternative but the same as everywhere else on Stokes Croft, and ultimately overrated. Served me a Tequila Sunrise in a stein and had the nerve to charge me an extortionate rate, its orange juice, tequila and grenadine not Merlin's Elixer. The place for you think Nick Grimshaw is a good laugh and want a beard like Tom Hardys eventually but have to get a proper job first. Bouncing staff allowed a dude to attempt to assault me and get at my boyfriend and his mate. Plenty of other places around the area to get good drinks with tres more chill.

Without doubt the best Sunday Roast I have had the pleasure of eating! Succulent and flavoursome chicken that melts in the mouth with a very tasty selection of vegetables that you could eat on their own. All cooked to perfection by the amazing Tucha, this is what a roast should taste like. I almost forgot the most excellent puddings! Save a space, especially if there is a crumble on the menu....yummy!

My whole family have been to the Pipe and Slippers on a regular basis to eat Tucha's amazing roasts. They are literally the best roasts I have ever had anywhere in Bristol. She serves pork, beef, chicken and lamb, all organic, with the best organic vegetables locally sourced. Not just any boiled old vegetables, they are cooked in very tasty sauces and the meat just melts in your mouth. I highly recommend these roasts. The decco of the Pub needs a little attention, but that does not stop us going there at all.

The pub itself is fine- bar staff a bit unfriendly but I guess that's up to them on how they want to be seen.We went in on a quiet Monday night for food, menu was limited- just 'Gourmet Sandwiches'. I wouldn't say gourmet was a good way to describe the greasy mexican chicken sandwich. The chips were soggy, covered in burnt rather than cooked onions. Generally just disappointing.Wouldn't return - better options available within 2mins walk.

As I like the food and the beer I had been willing to let this one go, but our most recent (and most dire) experience with her has left a bad taste in my mouth, literally! It was a quiet day at the pipe. I was greeted with a sheer lack of vibes from a member of staff as per usual. Upon placing our order for our food and receiving my change, the young lady very blatantly passed wind quite loudly... Naturally I was thrown off, but then to make matters worse she just looked me dead in the eye until I walked away back to my table.. It was truly one of the most awkward exchanges and very confusing for me. At first I felt sorry for her and wanted to say not to worry about it, but after staring me down I'm certain that she did it as if to exclaim how much she couldn't care for my order and that I was wasting her time?It's strange as as per usual she seemed to be really friendly and having a great time with the guys as the bar but as soon as she is confronted me or any other customer she does not greet them with the same friendlyness.I'm sure we will eat here again one day but I will be sure to place my order with the other more friendly members of the team to avoid being put off my dinner!As the original review was removed after a bit I hope that this review won't be ignored as it was a truly hideous and unnecessary that left me feeling disgusted. Aside from flatulence there is a serious problem with your employees attitude towards customers.

I visited here a few years ago and had a good experience. Presentation was good, food was good and nice enough staff.Took a friend here recently as we were in the area and I suggested the Pipe after my last positive experience here.The bar staff were uninterested and mopey despite a busy bar. We ordered food together and our meals came out within 15 minutes of each other. I had to ask when the next meal would come out and the barman replied with "soon" lacking any form of apology or enthusiasm.It finally came out with half of the advertised contents missing! It was only bread but that took another 10 minutes to come out after I had to ask at the bar for it. My food also contained contents that I asked for not to be included but I couldn't be bothered to complain for the third time.The pub was quiet and the bar staff were sitting around whilst we were waiting for our late/wrong food orders.The best thing about the meal were the chips although you only receive less than a handful. This place has obviously gone downhill since my last visit which is a shame.

Really good roast dinners from a roast dinner eating co-lab.We eat a lot of roast dinners trust but our most recent favourite has been the dutty pipe. It's not for well to do yuppys n that in there but if you're young-ish/a bit rough,don't expect everything your tiny mind can muster at the drop of a hat and you like nice grub then you'll likely be pleasiantly surprised. Good portion sizes, creamy leaks, nice crispy pork, rare tender beef, lovelily seasoned and all for less than a tenner which quite frankly piersses on local competition.Reduce your gravs a bit more and you're truly smarshing it.

We went here yesterday for Sunday lunch. A group of 10 people,5 adults and 5 children(ages from 12-2). The food was lovely, but we were not made welcome. When the booking was made, we were told we had to be exactly on time or else the table would be given away...The pub was only half full and we were on time! The woman host was not happy to have children in her pub,and told us to not let them run around. They weren't -they were on their way out to buy sweets with one of the adults! The reason for this... After the main, we were informed they did not do puddings! And as the main was not overly large, some of the adults and children had room for pud! On a good note, the service was good and one of our servers (a young guy) WAS friendly and helpful.

Was on the banksy walking tour when we fancied a roast and followed the reviews to this pub. I had the chicken, portion size huge and very moist. My partner the pork belly and best she's had. Nice relaxing vibe. We''ll have to come back to Bristol just to spend more time here and to try their Pipe Dream cocktail.

I had a really good night at the Pipe and Slippers entertaining work colleagues a few months back and with nothing much to do I took the wife and kids to the Pipe for a Bank Holiday Sunday lunch. I've had Sunday lunch at a Michelin starred restaurant on a couple of occasions and the food in the Pipe is as good. The decor is half way between a mad 60's french cafe and a library in some crumbling stately home and with interesting reggae tunes on the sound system, friendly staff and a great Sunday lunch for a tenner what's not to like?Seriously, I can't understand why they don't advertise - The Pipe and Slippers is definitely punching above it's weight.

After being shown this place by a friend when I first moved to Bristol I instantly couldn't get enough of the laid back hip fresh vibe that was flowing throughout the venue. Live music great food and great cocktails! Try the famous pipe dream. But beware 3 is the limit and there is a good reason for it. Go have a try you won't be disappointed.

Had a Spanish engineer fly in to fix one of our machines at work. He wanted to visit a traditional English pub for dinner so we took him to the Pipe. We all had burgers (probably the only thing on the menu he understood!). Anyway he said it was the best burger he'd ever had. I think I'd agree! Un-fussy friendly bar staff, chilled music and friendly clientele. A hidden gem!
