South Sands Cafe in Torbay

As we could not find any place selling chips on this side of the Goodrjng  Beach we walked on the other side at stopped at the South Sands Cafe. The staff was friendly and helpful in taking our order and showing us where the condiments were. The prices for their food is reasonably priced and it was worth that little walk from the main area on the beach.

Stopped here today after a walk on The beach and the breakfast naps were great . The chap was friendly too and we brought a sausage for the dog for 80 pence and he loved it . Good price on the bar drinks too and a varied choice with a fabulous view of the beach and the riviera . Would come again

Perfect spot for some light bites watching the train steam past! We enjoyed salt and pepper squid, halloumi fries and some cold cans. Service was great, friendly and swift. As you look out over the bays, you could anywhere along the Amalfi (minus the aperol!)

I had Cod Goujons and chips at this cafe and it was lovely. Beware of Seagulls though because they hover around and will pinch your food if you are not careful!

We recently spent quite a lot of money in this establishment catering to a party of 10 whilst on Goodrington Beach. One of this party is a 3 month old baby. I went to the kiosk to ask for a pot of hot water to warm the baby’s bottle. He fulfilled my request but asked if I had spent any money there during the day. This remark made me feel uncomfortable and the result was that we spent our money in the shop up the hill- where the owner- Tony- is lovely and can’t do enough for you. What is the world coming to?

We live in Goodrington, so are Obviously Reguler to This Beach, hence June 1st we went for The View of Paignton Airshow, I took a Picnic as knew This Takeaway would be very Hectic. Come 2.30pm a Cuppa, Slush Puppie, etc was needed, so we queued a very Nice Spanish Lady Family in Front of us, came her turn to be Served and The Very Rude Person serving refused her Said she was in The Wrong Queue, MY Goodness it would of not taken her long to Serve The Ice Cream to her, Actually The Member of Staffs Off Handedness and Attitude was Terriable(Obviously in The Wrong Trade). Yes she served us, But took my Time as had my 2 very Polite Grandchildren were with me. OK perhaps She was having a Off Day, if so Go Home.

It's a great venue and it was a sunny day - that's a good start. The food was okay - but we found the service unfriendly. Rather disappointing. It's also a shame when many of us make a concerted effort to recycle cans that there is no recycling facility.

Ate here most days on a four day summer break as it's so conveniently situated right by the beach. The food is well above usual standards for a cabin and the staff were so bubbly friendly and polite - seeming to very much enjoy the holiday vibes and providing a good selection of options and service with a smile.

South Sands Cafe seems perfect, situated as it is at one end of the deservedly high-rated Goodrington Sands. Plenty of outdoor seating, with the sun shining high in a summer sky, we eagerly awaited our lunch. My 10 year old son had one bite of his cheeseburger before announcing it inedible; my wife's cheese and spring onion baguette met the same verdict, with it being filled with a gooey mush instead of grated cheese and slices of spring onion. And although my Bigfoot hot dog was tasty, my biggest disappointment was the coffee. I love Lavazzo, but when a regular cappuccino is a small cappuccino topped up with hot water, you ain't gonna get what you expect. Great location with superb views. Just make sure you only order small coffees and Bigfoot hot dogs.

Came here in 2014 with the family, and have only just been able to return to Goodrington again for a week's holiday. Well worth the wait! Everything remains basically the same, thank goodness, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, and the owners obviously subscribe to that ideology. Coffee, snacks, beer, cider and wine all available at good prices, plenty of tables, the steam trains chugging past, great beach etc., etc. Only moan is that the egg & bacon baps finish at 11.00am. too early for me!!!!! Next trip to Goodrington, and of course The South Sands Cafe, being planned now.

As "Locals" we are frequent visitors to Daves Cafe. The coffee is 1st Class and the menu caters for all tastes. Most important is the cheery welcome we always get from Dave the proprietor. :-)

average staff very friendly and chatty food wasn't very impressed with cleanliness was fine but wouldn't rush back over priced for what you have

This unassuming beach cafe is situated at the southern end of a lovely long beach. It has outside seating within feet of the sand. The proprietor and his assistant were friendly and very professional. My wife had a delicious fresh baguette stuffed with assorted sea food, whilst I indulged in an equally tasty baguette dripping with chicken and bacon. Each was served in a clean gull proof white bag with unlimited serviettes. The menu was extensive and suitable for all ages. Hot and cold drinks, fresh or bottled, ice-cream from Yard Farm, everything one desires on a beach holiday and at very reasonable prices. The premises looked cared for and spotless. We sat, ate and dreamt of past times when we had the energy to run and jump as the children were at this heavenly place. Try it for yourself, you will not be disappointed.
