We were given a recommendation to eat here after work and it was a good one. Even mid-week, it was getting busy so I’d recommend booking. My favourite dish was the broccoli. I will definitely eat here again.

Myself and two friends visited on 2nd June and had a long, lazy dinner here. The food was sensational. We ordered so many dishes I don't know where to start but highlights were the salmon, the mushrooms on toast (special), the hummus and bread, the sweet potato, the broad beans and the halloumi with some amazing watermelon. All totally moreish. The desserts were not as strong as the savoury but still pretty good. The service was excellent. The restaurant decor was not very glamorous but with food this good, who cares! We will be back.

We visited this restaurant during the upfest weekend with family and had a delicious meal. The menu has a varied choice and we had a mixture of meat and vegetarian dishes all of which were very tasty with creative flavours. Friendly efficient service.

The great things were marred bad by some quite big culinary errors. This is to say, the lamb kofta was heavenly, while the flatbreads and Turkish wine tasted fantastic. However, the breads were soaked in oil, which totally greased up my fingers whenever I went to dip them in the hummus. In the same vein, the olives were floating in far too much liquid. It was also overall on the pricey side. Good overall but choose your dishes wisely.

We've lived round the corner from Souk Kitchen for a while now but only recently visited. It's got a warm atmosphere with friendly staff who made an effort to chat. The menu was varied with good veggie options and lots of specials on the board too. I particularly loved the sweet potato dip (I can't stop thinking about it!!) and my boyfriend loved the lamb. Even though it's tapas they give you a reasonable sized portion and we thought it was good value. It was also fun trying out different wines from around the world. Puddings could be improved. We'll be back!

We had a pre theatre dinner last night with kids. The restaurant feels really clean and well spaced, staff were attentive and friendly. The food was amazing! Really unusual and tasty, we had 8 dishes between 4 and it was the perfect amount. We had the belly pork, steak, mackerel and duck pie to name a few and they were all delicious. £140 for 4, couple of beers, glass of wine and food so really good value for food of this quality.

I've been loads of times and the food quality has always been great. Real depth of flavours which you always dream about creating yourself but always seem to fall short. Their sister restaurant Kuch probably does THE tastiest takeway in Bristol - well worth checking out.

La comida fue hecha por un chef muy talentoso, sabía realmente delicioso y tenía platos muy creativos (¡quién hubiera pensado que el halloumi y el melocotón sabrían tan bien!) Y se presentaron muy bien. Es más caro que una cena normal, pero debería serlo porque la comida es de un nivel mucho más alto, ¡y el chef debería ser recompensado por tales talentos! Fue perfecto para una comida especial. Definitivamente lo recomiendo :)

I feel quite sad about my experience with Souk Kitchen on Valentine's Day. It was my favourite restaurant and now I have quite a negative view of it. My partner had booked for valentine's Day a few weeks ago over the phone. They were fine on the phone and said great see you then. We arrived on time for the booking, and when we got there they said they they had given our table away as we hadn't confirmed our booking and paid the deposit. They said they had tried calling and left a voicemail, but my partner's phone is rubbish and we showed the waitress that he hadn't received any missed calls or notifications about it. We explained that over the phone they didn't say anything about a deposit, or ringing to confirm the table, and we would have happily done this when we originally booked. We weren't expecting a call and as we booked it fine over the phone, you just assume everything is going to be fine when you turn up! We asked if they could do anything and they said no and weren't very helpful at all. We were made to feel really quite silly and I felt very bad for my partner who thought he had set up a nice evening for us. It's a real shame as he booked it for us as it was my favourite restaurant. I guess it's just one big miscommunication, but just a tip to others to make sure that you get all the info needed when you call up and book. I really wish that the restaurant had just let us know about the deposit when we booked it and all would have been sorted. I'm sure it was a one off, but it has really put me off the restaurant and I won't be visiting again.

Este es un lugar encantador con un ambiente agradable, en su mayoría un servicio amable y comida deliciosa y diferente.Nos detuvimos para tomar un café y un almuerzo ligero. Tenía halloumi y pera con avellanas y mi madre tenía falafel de remolacha con verduras en escabeche y aderezo de tahini.Ambos estaban realmente deliciosos. What a great lunch! I can’t recommend this Greek/Eastern Mediterranean restaurant highly enough. Really tasty food with a great tasty twist. Descriptions defy the experience. Great also to have a fresh mint tea that is made with.. yes, fresh mint!

Sabores realmente sabrosos y auténticos. Esperábamos entrar en Per y Kor, pero este lugar era realmente bueno.

Came for brunch with my friends and it was delicious (even the drinks were amazing). Lived in Bristol for 3 years and I am ashamed I hadn't been here until I was back visiting friends. Feel as if I have missed out on 3 years of amazing brunches. Good value and great service.

Hands down the best food in Bristol. Get lots of small plates to share as a starter because there are just so many great dishes to chose from. In particular, the falafels, hummus, roasted cauliflower, and halloumi (lots of veggie options).

We asked them to just provide us with mezze 75% veggie and the rest meat. What a lovely meal! Thoroughly recommend.

This was the first time that I had been to this restaurant and I was a little wary about Arabian/Persian food. I need not of worried - the food surpassed expectations and the service (and staff) was excellent. Would recommend a visit.

I've known about this restaurant for some time and always heard positive feedback and read great reviews. I decided to go tonight (Saturday) because the weather has been stormy and thought it would be a ray of sunshine. As a lone diner I planned to be there for 5.30pm prompt, opening time, to get in and out before the masses arrive. Had already studied the menu and been visualising my meal all day along with the tasty wine.

Visited yesterday for a family birthday. I dropped off a cake in the afternoon, and they couldn't have been more accommodating. When we returned for dinner, we had a lovely table, with the roof open above us, and not at all too warm in the heat we've had this week - I had though all the glass might create a greenhouse effect, but was pleasantly surprised.

Lovely atmosphere and food - the meze are superb and the serice was excellent. We would go back when we are in Bristol.

I’d love to say I knew what everything I ate was, but I can’t. And that’s my ignorance. But it did not matter as the food was delicious excellently cooked, well presented and tasting beautiful. A little heat running through the dishes which was warming in the open top restaurant area.

I've been to souk based on a friends recommendation. We were greeted and seated immediately even though they were busy. We've had the Shakshuka and the zaatar topped bread and it was delicious! Good food, fantastic staff, highly recommended.

We came as a large group, and had the mixed mezze to start which were all excellent. the cauliflower and prawns were the best.

I have visited here for brunch twice now. Most recently I had ‘the Local’ - my table agreed it was best full English type dish they’ve had in a while. Delicious middle eastern flavours added to it. Perfectly spiced potatoes, runny poached eggs, proper sausages...

After walking past this restaurant a couple of times we finally went in and weren’t disappointed. The menu has something for every taste and I highly recommend the mezze plates, they are also matched well with a good selection of beers.

I just really love this restaurant. The food is always so delicious and the portions very generous. The mutton dish is always my go to and never disappoints. I recently celebrated my birthday here and the staff were really attentive and accommodating. Can't fault it!

We were in the UK to celebrate a family birthday and booked a table for eight adults and five youngsters, ranging from eighteen months to twelve years old.....on the 23rd of December! A pretty tall order, to expect prompt service and total satisfaction amongst such a varied group and on such a busy day; however, we were very pleasantly surprised. The toddlers were occupied with "colouring sheets" and were well catered for with a special menu and we two vegetarians had plenty of choice....the Persian cauliflower can be recommended. Although service was not overbearing, it was patient and friendly.... and amazingly, we were all served at more or less the same time. No small feat on a very busy day of the year.

Visited with friends for dinner this weekend, and every plate delivered to our table was left clean! The dishes are all full of flavour and freshly prepared. My husband and I are vegan, and it was easy to find suitable things to eat on the menu (although the staff were also happy to adjust other dishes for us to make them vegan). The staff are always very friendly and helpful. One of the best places to eat out in Bristol!

Was there for lunch and enjoyed everything we ordered. A lot of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food is on the menu cooked with lots of herbs and spices to enjoy. I really liked this place for a simple yet delicious lunch.

What a great find: amazing Middle Eastern cuisine - the best grilled halloumi starter ever, moist and tasty, served with Greek honey, toasted walnuts, and capers. Sensational mains: dish of the day was herb polenta with slow cooked tomato sauce, summer greens and grilled lamb kofta, really tasty, and beautifully presented. Chocolate date dessert a bit dry and chewy but otherwise faultless.

Each dish is really rich in flavour and looks beautiful, good middle eastern staples alongside dishes you wouldn't find in your average Lebanese place, would recommend ordering lots of little ones. Knowledgable staff, decent value, great treat restaurant.

Stumbled across this place on a Sunday. Great find. They do a fantastic Virgin Mary. Shakshuka was pretty good a little too sweet for my taste but couldn't fault.Unfortunately only downside was it was extremely hot sat at the front next to the glass. We would have stayed longer but is was slightly uncomfortable.

What a fantastic restaurant. The food was fresh, tasty, interesting and divine! Came with my 2 children who loved it and ate everything on their plates. Cannot rate this highly enough and good value for the quality of food. Superb.

Always wanted to try this place as I've walked passed it a lot. The staff were great and there was a good variety of mezze with an authentic taste. The only downside was the the flatbread was a bit solid once itd had cooled down but otherwise really good.

Flavour explosion! Many cheaper eats around at the we went to eat, everything basic on the table until the food arrived. My mind and mouth went to heaven and back. Loads of spices without the heat, plenty of options for those who like the heat though! Going back soon!

If you look at the menu online, which I always do to choose which restaurant to go to, you will be more than disappointed when you arrive at the restaurant. First, they don't have 1/3 of mezzes listed online (no falafels, hummus, and anything interesting). They told us that they ran out of "shakshouka", which in reality is not possible, because shakshouka is made out of eggs, and they were serving all the remaining dishes with eggs! They could have said we ran out of peppers, or tomatoes if that was the case.. We talked to the restaurant manager, who was kind and told us that the menu online was a sample menu, but this doesn't justify that you need to choose from the remaning 6-7 items from the menu. They also have a lack of staff, only one waiter and the restaurant manager was working on sunday. When we arrived, there were 6 tables empty and we were asked to come back in half an hour. When we arrived and were seated, it took us 10 minutes to get the menu and 10 more minutes to catch the attention of the waiter, who in turn directed us to the restaurant manager. Overall, it was a waste of time!

I've eaten here several times, as well as Soukkitchen in Southville, and I've never been disappointed with the food. The menu varies over time and they have a "specials board" so you can easily find something you will like. This time I ate with my 2 sons, both in their early 20s, and we split some of the tapas type starters and each had a main course, all of which was tasty. And there have been many times where we have ordered a selection of tapas which was equally satisfying.

Found this place by accident and it is a gem, delicious food, great flavours and great service. Choose six mezze dishes and each one was delicious, food choice if wine too.

Firstly let me say our recent experience of the Souk kitchen was not a negative one at all, far from it. The food choices are extremely varied but, on our experience, all are extremely tasty, well presented and not overly expensive. The location and ambience are also enjoyable as is the wine list. Our experience was let down on two fronts. One was an extremely loud group of ( presumably drunken ) women. The other was the service in the restaurant. The former is, I guess out of the restaurant's hands - even though the table were at banshee level - once we asked to move that issue was resolved. The service though, was not. One we had ordered we were left to ourselves. No one checked on our experience or happiness with the food, I had to go to the bar to get extra milk for our coffee and asking for/paying the bill was a drawn out affair. I understand Saturday nights are busy and also that the restaurant doesn't want to be over-bearing with its service, however, I would hope for better next time. Yes we will be back, however we may try one of the other Souk Kitchen locations for comparison.

My fiancé and myself were looking for somewhere new to eat and we stumbled over this great place . The food is incredible and very reasonably priced . The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed and informal . I would highly recommend this treasure for a fab meal out .

The welcome, service and food was all lovely. Something to suit all tastes, beautiful flavours and presentation. The only reason I held back a star is that we asked for a bottle of 'house red'. No I KNOW the mark up on wine is how they make their money, but we received a nice, but ordinary Cabernet Sauvignon - for which we were charged £22.50. For a 'house' wine, I felt that was too expensive. Having said that, we would visit again, but not buy wine.

Went in for a light lunch on a Sunday and had some lovely courgette fritters. It looked very appealing with lots of colours. I had the lemon and mint spritzer to drink with it which was a bit too sweet for my taste so not as refreshing as it could have been. The service was a bit slow but all the servers were very friendly when we talked to them.

We keep returning to Souk Kitchen as the food is divine. Such fresh and inventive flavours with a seasonal menu that offers something different every time. The 'tapas' style dishes are fantastic and offer great variety and taste. One of my favourites has got to be the grilled halloumi with mango, what a taste sensation!There is a nice and relaxed atmosphere with great service and authentic decor. Already looking forward to my next meal at Souk Kitchen!

Lovely little cafe restaurant with a nice atmosphere. The food was tasty and interesting and there were so many things I would like to go back and try. Watch out for lots of garlic though!

Cosy, individual, well decorated restaurant located on a side street off whiteladies road. My previous review outlined the really terrible service we had and I had not intended to return (although I do go to the north street branch). However it was a birthday meal for a friend so I could hardly refuse !This time the service was fantastic - from everyone - so really pleasing. We shared mezze to start which was absolutely delicious - particularly the halloumi, flat bread, hummous and grilled broccoli. I had the lamb chops for a main which didn't work for me - I was hoping the lamb was pink but it was practically raw. Too embarrassed in front of a large table to send back but in hindsight I should have done. The accompanying olive, artichoke and feta side was too oily (the chops also had an oily marinade) and it needed cous cous or rice to balance out. You'd never be able to eat that many olives. The feta was used very sparingly - I had one or two small pieces. Souk kitchen also does a great selection of soft drinks (such as the delicious elderflower and rose spritzer garnished with rose petals I had). There also a food specials board in addition to the main menu. I would return but I'd order a different main or just mezze.

It is like going abroad without having to fly! All very exotic and new to me. This is a really interesting place to eat - it has a delightful "out-door" terrace which has 2 benefits - the sun streams in and one cannot hear the music! I will certainly be back - I wish I had chosen the soup the partner had.

Great selection of food. Came here as a family of 4 - ordered every mezze on offer to share and try, could not fault a single one. Great honest food, don't be fooled however - my eyes were definitely bigger than my belly here.

We ordered all of the specials, and couple of dishes off the al la carte. All of the dishes were delicious, we especially liked the deep-fried brocolli, and the chicken kebabs. The Bloody Mary with Harissa was a spicy addition to the meal, and the wine list is short and interesting, with wines I'd never seen before.

I met with an old friend for lunch on a Sunday. The service was friendly and informal, the menu was comprehensive. My friend and I shared several plates of food, and amendments were made after recommendation and without hesitation. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. We shared Tabbouleh, duck with leek and yoghurt, halloumi, and a mackerel dish. Each mouthful was delightful, and my concerns about spices (I am anosmic and find spicy dishes a challenge) were non founded. I thought the relaxed pace of service fitted our lunch and the rest of our day brilliantly. I will definitely be trying the Souk Kitchen in Southville Bristol soon

Let me explain - the food is great, the staff are great - but service is slow and then putting 2 extra bottles of wine on the bill I am sure was accidental - others in the group were less generous. Every Saturday a group of us go out and try a new restaurant is this wonderful city of ours. We have been eyeing up the Souk Kitchen for a while although was warned about the service in Clifton but we thought we would give it a go. The table was not ready for us - they must learn time management because we sat at other tables for 10 minutes - we were given menus but would have been a nice touch had they offered and served drinks earlier. Now as I said the food was excellent - go for the chicken kebabs with rice. When the food was brought out they brought out a soup of the day which no-one had ordered - the meal that was ordered arrived later which meant that one of the group was left staring at the others. Getting an order right is pretty fundamental!!Would we go back - nope but we will give their Southville outlet a go. We always tip 10% if we have a good experience - this is probably the first time in the last 12 months we did not.Pick up your game - you were not that busy, if you are then explain and it will be understood

We have visited for lunch on several occasions. The food is always great and the service is friendly.The Soukitchen serves Middle Eastern dishes, mezes, snacks, mains and deserts. It's difficult to pick favourites as we've enjoyed everything, from delicious lamb sausages to grilled fish or halloumi. The lunch special is always good value with a main and a drink. I love the rose lemonade. There's always a great selection of specials on the blackboard, so choosing can be tricky. Vegetarians a very well catered for.The Sunday roast is superb. I never usually eat a roast in a resturant as they rarely come close to anything we make at home. These are a little bit special-crispy roast potaotoes, a choice of meat and a great selection of veggies, with a middle eastern twist. It works well.It can get a little loud during Sunday lunch, so not somewhere to go if you want a quiet chat over your meal, but if you can stand the noise give it a go. You won't regret it!

This is an excellent cafe/restaurant to visit for a relaxed meal in Clifton. Just off Whiteladies Road it offers a variety of freshly prepared dishes - including a good choice of vegetarian dishes - all of which are a delight to the eye and are also delicious to eat. We chose four Mezze dishes (2 from their regular menu and 2 from the specials for the day. Our only regret was that neither of us had room to try their very tempting cakes.The staff were friendly and helpful but unobtrusive. The fact that the food is freshly prepared means that it is served at a leisurely pace but it is well worth the wait. It is very good value for money and just looking at the food makes you feel that you will be doing yourself good when you eat it.

My wife and I decided on a spontaneous visit to the Souk Kitchen based on a good reputation. The place was full inside, but they have covered tables at the front so we took one of those despite being a bit chilly. However, we were soon moved inside as there was a cancellation.The whole experience was superb. We chose 4 meze dishes between us and they were all truly fresh and delicious. I finished with a fine chai tea and my wife had a Turkish coffee. This is definitely one of the very top places to eat in Bristol if you like exceptional food in relaxed surroundings.

Pleasant environment and the staff were helpful and friendly, although they did appear to be a little harassed. On reflection we found our food a bit disappointing and not as good as previous experience. We had several plats from the meze two of which were dry and not particularly enjoyable and some pork that was dry and a bit tough. All 5 of us had a pleasant evening but will think twice before going again.

The menu is full of tantalising treats as is the specials board and all the food is beautifully cooked and presented, with plenty of colour & texture. It is the perfect place for an early spring dinner where feta, beetroot, mint and chicken skewers kick your taste buds out of winter comfort food and on towards summer eating. I had the salt & pepper squid to start and then a filo brick stuffed with vegetables accompanied with a beetroot type sauce, all of which was absolutely delicious. I totally recommend coming here for a casual dinner and the service was great too.

I went with work colleagues as part of my 40th celebration and the choice of venue did not disappoint. The food was lush and I will definitely go back.

We had a really tasty meal between three. We liked the selection of food available on the menu but the specials were also a good addition. We ordered around 6 small plates and 1 main and there was plenty for us. Really liked the geek wine on the menu!

Not been here before and had a fantastic meal. We hadn't reserved thinking it wouldn't be necessary for mid week but I'd recommend you do if you want to go - we got the last table. Service was great and the food was sublime. I had chicken skewers and my partner had the moussaka. Rarely have I enjoyed a chicken dish so much. The setting is relatively sparse leaving your focus on your company and your food. This is my new favourite place.

Visited here today for the first time after friends had raved about the place. Always a risk of being let down after such a build up. We were not disappointed. Great atmosphere, lovely food. Not cheap but good quality and the customer demographic were 30-50, discerning, not short of cash, educated. It was clear the place had earned a good reputation. The humus and chickpea was gorgeous with the flat bread side, as mezze. We had the lunch special of chicken skewers which comes with a drink (£1 more if alcoholic). Good choice. Service not the fastest but the food was definitely worth the wait.There was a slight air of snobbery as if they knew they were good and didn't have to try and serve or please. After eating the food I guess it is an arrogance well deserved, like a Michelin Star French Restaurant. Tucked down a side street off Blackboy Hill, it was quiet, sunny, friendly, relaxing and slightly chic in a hippy kind of way. Well worth a visit. We will be taking more friends there for sure.

If huge portions of beautifully cooked food are your bag then you would be well placed to dine here. They were very knowledgable and careful for gluten free customers too. Glutarians. Glutards? If you're avoiding the gluten you'll get treated like a 'normo' here. Nice cakes too. Service extremely friendly and accommodating.
