I took my family to this restaurant last night. Staff were very pleasant and restaurant looked great. All was going well until my son’s rib eye was served. The medium rare was well done. As was mine. My wife’s duck curry was served lukewarm. Both were returned. I would have expected that all 4 meals be returned in order that they could be re served hot and we could eat together. At the end, the manager proactively offered free deserts and tea coffee. My kids had 2 deserts, but my wife and I declined. The actual food was good but the £170 experience was a waste of money as 2 of us ate at a time. My son is coming to university here and i thought this could be come a regular place to visit, but honestly when a restaurant can’t cook a steak correctly or serve warm food that’s a major issue.

Have never visited an Ivy but was visiting daughter at Uni and wanted to treat her for her birthday, family travelled up. Venue and decor lovely and staff very welcoming and made us feel special. We sat in the lower conservatory type area which was lovely and bright and not too cramped. Food was lovely, the sour dough bread was amazing, served warm as a starter with olives. Was worried the portion sizes would be small but we all left happy and full. They unexpectedly produced a choux bun with a candle for my daughter which was a nice gesture. Overall, it was expensive but we had a lovely time and was worth it for a nice occasion.

We visited for the afternoon tea, having been given a voucher. £33.75 each I believe but our voucher covered it entirely. My wife is gluten intolerant so had forewarned them but it still took 45 mins for our food to appear, whilst later arrivals had already been served. Not copious quantities but sufficient. The berry accompaniment for the gluten free food was literally still frozen. Service was polite but a little less than efficient. Surprised that the food was supposed to all fit on a small table - elsewhere I've had side tables. No hot water for the tea. Atmosphere ok but the background music was not to my taste. We've eaten better food, served in better surroundings with more efficient service than this - albeit the price was lower at the Ivy. Ok if you're looking for just tea time eats but not as a "destination experience " like the Ritz, Dorchester etc

Went for afternoon tea and the place is amazing for it! The atmosphere is delightful, the staff were pleasant, although communication was a little lacking. We ended up repeating our order multiple times, waiting for things to arrive, only to be needing to ask again. But all in all the afternoon tea selection was a good amount and filling, and also delicious! We definitely enjoyed ourselves.

A spot of lunch at The Ivy Clifton Brasserie in Bristol was an absolute treat. In an attempt to summarise the style and character of The Ivy, the best thing to do is pay reference to their website from which the following extract is taken; “The Ivy Grills and Brasseries offer extensive all-day menus featuring the best of modern British dishes in a relaxed dining atmosphere. Each Grill and Brasserie is sophisticated yet approachable, casual yet polished and can be found in carefully selected locations both in London and beyond.” After considering how best to describe our ‘Ivy’ experience I quickly realised the words from the website was sufficient. Modern dishes, relaxed, sophisticated, casual yet polished is a perfect description of this place. The staff provide a first class and professional service all set within this classy and rather British environment. Beautifully presented drinks and the food was just perfection of which I strongly recommend the crispy duck salad as a main course. What a great place to spend lunch and feel part of something quite special. If you find yourself in Clifton, this place is a must but you must book well in advance.

Attended for the first time with family and my 18 month old. Had the set menu. Starter was lovely. Really enjoyed the chicken skewers. Main also was good. Had the ragu. Dessert was nice (frozen berries) but it was meant to come with a hot white chocolate sauce and it didn’t have this so it was basically a bowl of frozen berries and sorbet and so it was very cold! I like berries and so didn’t bother me much but for the price you pay you should have what is listed on the menu! It tasted great even without the hot sauce. My main issue is that the staff were miserable!!!! I’ve never been somewhere where the waiter didn’t even say hello.they didn’t offer a children’s menu. When My baby dropped a spoon and I appologised and asked for another I got a nod. It was really strange! They were otherwise attentive. But zero communication 😂 maybe it was just the waiter we had. But overall. A lovely evening. The actual building itself is stunning!

Lovely lunch menu with a good selection to choose from. The food was beautifully presented. I had phoned ahead and paid £32 for a celebration chocolate cake to be brought to the table at the end of the meal as a surprise. I checked on arrival and yes it was all on the booking but the waitress came to our table and announced what type of cake we wanted and when should she bring it to us which spoilt the surprise. Anyway the cake was lovely and we laughed it off and then we were charged again for the cake when the bill arrived. I asked for a refund and was eventually given it but the staff didn’t apologise and we were meant to feel like we were causing trouble.

Staff were great, however my steak was over cooked and the burger was dry. The worst part was the interior noise level. The music was more like a club night and loud not low fine dining music, which then increased the noise from the tables conversations, which on a table of 6 meant we couldn’t hear each other, has put us of going again. Shane as we have been there numerous times. They have also shortened the bar, which is fine but they had customers sat in bar chairs all night which meant you couldn’t get to bar while waiting, they need to move them on as it ruins it for others.

Went for Sunday lunch. Was so disappointed for an established restaurant. Plate was full full of frozen roast potatoes, frozen yorkshires, frozen french beans and watery swede. Meat was appalling. Two of us had chicken. It was like a de boned leg deep fried and the beef was two inches per slice and no flavour. Obviously not from a beef joint. Need to up their game at £30 for the beef and £25 the chicken. Absolutely a disaster. So many good establishments around at the moment delivering home cooked roasts. Do not visit

I ordered the chicken Milanese, which said came with a Parmesan salad .. however was a few shavings of cheese & 3 sprigs of lambs lettuce. Food came extremely quickly which makes me think it wasn’t freshly cooked if I’m honest. My recent visit to The Ivy Clifton Brasserie was truly a memorable experience. The building itself exudes elegance and charm, reflecting its historical roots as a former bank. This adds a unique character to the dining atmosphere, making each visit feel special. The menu offers a delightful array of dishes. The afternoon tea is a standout, served in a setting that makes you feel like royalty. For those seeking comfort food, the shepherd's pie is a must-try, rich in flavor and perfectly prepared. Seafood enthusiasts will appreciate the blackened cod, which is cooked to perfection, while the linguine offers a tasty option for pasta lovers. Dessert was an adventure in itself, with the chocolate bombe providing a spectacular end to the meal. The ambiance of the restaurant is further enhanced by soft candlelight, adding a touch of romance and intimacy to the setting. Overall, The Ivy Clifton Brasserie lives up to its beautiful reputation, combining aesthetic charm with culinary excellence. The restaurant itself is beautiful, clean, and exudes a refined atmosphere. However, I’m giving four stars because the service could have been better. We often had to look around and wave to get the staff’s attention for things we needed, as they weren’t proactively checking on us. At a restaurant of this caliber, I would expect much more attentiveness from the staff to match the exceptional food and ambiance. That said, I would still highly recommend The Ivy for the quality of the cuisine alone. If the service improves, it could easily be a five-star experience.

Eaten and had drinks at the bar here. Nice atmosphere. Food was 'Ivy' which is you know what to expect - just good. Atmosphere is better. Prices 3 £. I think it will be a 5 next time.

I booked the Ivy because of its reputation. This is the first time I have been to an Ivy restaurant and was expecting something special. I have come away feeling a little disappointed with the food. The service and the atmosphere was absolutely excellent. I chose to have fish chips and mushy peas and was very disappointed because of the amount of salt that had been added. The chips were covered and inedible and the fish had salt sprinkled on the top of it. Why?? I appreciate it’s a chef’s prerogative to add salt when cooking food, but surely it should be the diner’s choice whether salt is added to the outside of the food. I did mention this to the waitress when she collected the plates and I was given a complimentary cup of tea and my friend had a complimentary coffee. The dessert was superb - would highly recommend the Chocolate Bombe. For those of you watching your salt intake, please be aware.

Incredibly average. I must admit I didn’t expect a lot from a chain restaurant but the Ivy brand does have a hardcore following so I hoped that’d count for something.. turns out not. Our table wasn’t ready when we arrived so were asked to sit at the bar, fine if there were a seat, which there was not, so effectively us and other diners were kept in a holding pen awaiting actual human comfort such as a seat. Eventually we were sat to our table and the waitress couldn’t have provided less effort, we ordered water she filled it to the rim and dribbled it onto the table. The food, so basic, I had seabass for main with what could’ve actually been mash potato from a sachet, plus about 4 strands of samphire, it was not the quality you would expect from a higher end chain at all. The venue is nice, the decoration etc is lovely and the busy atmosphere was good so it did have that going for it. Overall an incredibly average experience and I wouldn’t come again.

Another visit: Nov 2024: Same scores (food, service and atmosphere). The music remains pumping which, we felt (again) is unnecessary and intrusive. Very pleasant surroundings. Food better than I had remembered. Service first class (thank you Sacha). Not cheap (forget the '£50-60' bit from last time). Previous visit:Busy Saturday night. Very enjoyable meal. Great atmosphere (although the background music is a bit relentless).

Thank you Valentina & Greg (his first night, what a gem. Lovely to see staff being trained properly) for looking after us expertly on Saturday night & triumphing in the face of adversity when the tills went down. Food was delicious & the stairs to the toilets amazing. DFTFT xxx

Every now and then it's nice to eat out somewhere a little more upmarket and the Ivy did not disappoint. The service was amazing from arrival to leaving and the wait times despite some large parties was minimal. The food was perfectly presented and cooked as requested and really was nice, best mash I've ever had! I would highly recommend this venue. The only negative and it's no fault of the place but the lack of nearby parking. Aside from that, zero complaints.

The food and general service is always top notch, but what isn't acceptable is the lack of care with the bills. Both times recently they not bothered to apply any offers and charge you full price for everything. Their excuse is the tills don't apply the offers for them, but to just knowingly ignore that is terrible. Please all triple check your bills as they certainly won't. The fuss at the end totally spoiled the evening.

Had a really disappointing experience at this cafe. The service was incredibly slow from the moment we walked in. We had to wait for our coffee for ~20 minutes, and it only arrived after our food was already served. Asked if could move to another table, and the waiter said they would check but never came back with an answer.

I got a chicken kebab made with love! I came in right as they were closing and they were kind enough to make me a sandwich even though they didn't have to at a fair price. So good and delicious
