Post 10km brunch with fizz for 4. Friendly & accommodating welcome. Slight variation to breakfast order which was accommodated without fuss. Food was delicious, thank you chef & waiting staff 🙂 Beautiful location overlooking the harbour

Visited with a group of friends on 20th February 2025. There was a promotion running in February offering a set menu: 2 course = £22; 3 course = £30. The man who greeted us stated the set menu was only available at lunch. There was nothing on the website that stated it was only a lunchtime set menu and it was not stated when the reservation was made. This was embarrassing to my friend who made the booking and was made worse by the condescending manner of the staff member when it is more an issue of flouting trading standards. The food we ate was good, and the actual service staff were friendly and efficient. However the overall bad experience means I would not return. There are plenty of better places to eat in Bristol that don't try to treat you like a cheapskate.

Great place location. Food was ok (this was the barbecue option at the weekend) but smoky sat on the pontoon terrace but that was more than made up for by the great atmosphere and really helpful friendly staff. The was a wedding party in so they were very busy but they still bent over backwards to ensure we had a good time. Well done guys. Totally LGBTQi friendly. 👍

Had a lovely meal. We sat outside with the BBQ so it was rather smokey... Connor was excellent, attentive and friendly. Could tell they were very busy.

Very pleasant evening spent overlooking the water with friends from abroad, they were able to sample some lovely food they normally don't have access to. Nice place for a special treat!

This restaurant is a classic example of substance over form. Ticks all the boxes .. fancy menu, £50 steaks that don’t come with chips or veg (£7 supplement each). Fair enough if you walk out feeling special but no, far from it. I’m not a snob but staff were on a par with kfc - avoid if you’re not on a corporate card .. and even then !

We held a birthday party for my wife at this wonderful restaurant and everything was perfect, food and service. Highly recommended.

Hermosa ubicación con excelentes vistas de todas las idas y venidas en el río. El ambiente es bueno, pero todos nos sentimos bastante frío - no estoy seguro de si fue debido a corrientes de aire o aire acondicionado. Terminé poniéndome mi chaqueta gigante. Nuestro camarero Leo fue muy atento, pero ten en cuenta que todas las comidas vienen con la "recomendación" de que también compres una guarnición, ya sean papas fritas, papas o verduras, lo que aumenta el costo de la comida. Los comedores de carne y pescado estaban contentos con su comida, pero la ofrenda vegetal (una tarta de alcachofa de Jerusalén) estaba cerca de ser quemada y se consideraba que era apenas comestible. Esto, sumado al hecho de que pasas por enormes trozos de carne en una caja de vidrio al entrar al restaurante nos hizo darnos cuenta de que el verdadero enfoque está en los comedores de carne y hay poca concesión hecha para los vegetarianos. Algunos nos preguntábamos si el lunes es la noche libre del chef principal. Estábamos probando el restaurante para un evento familiar más grande y hemos decidido continuar la búsqueda.

The chap in the white shirt behind the bar was very condescending. We were not asked how we wanted our meat cooked and my mums was too raw. We were not given a dessert menu or asked if we wanted coffee. Altogether very disappointing

We had a roast, beef and pork. Was all right but nothing special, had better in local pub. Pork was bit dry, beef portion had only two thin slices. Staff confused with taking the order, not everything was served, long wait for drinks, all these with only three tables occupied (including ours). Average coffee. Be prepared that you are paying extra for the nice view (from first floor restaurant), not necessary for outstanding food.

We went pre-theatre early. Riverstation was basically empty, so service was fine. Sat by the window overlooking the floating harbour. Was lovely watching Bristol. Had a lovely Cuban Colada cocktail. Heritage Beetroot appetizer was v tasty with several interesting elements which worked well together. Pork chop main was disappointing, with the star being the fennel garnish. Overall a nice experience, but the food was not stellar.

La mayor parte de la comida era luke - caliente en el mejor de los casos y generalmente más - salado. Un plato estaba demasiado cocido y seco. Far from the best in Bristol. We went to dinner and were disappointed. The chef has over thought the menu and portion sizes do not align with price point. Issues: We each had different dishes listed on the menu. The waitress was unfamiliar with the dishes in the menu and ended up questioning our choices. The Scallop starter was served service style but no mention was made on the menu of this and to compound it was covered in crushed ice "as a granita"! Why you would do this when there are mushrooms in the dish which will aboard the moisture and cucumber still baffles.

Riverstation is located in a wonderful little spot on the harbourside, which made for a beautiful view on a sunny afternoon. The staff were incredibly friendly, especially our server Leo. He was very helpful with our order and made us feel welcome as soon as we sat down. The food was fantastic, flavourful meat and vegetables for a perfect Sunday roast. It arrived piping hot with a side of delicious gravy. There was a variety of options for our lunch but we went for the chicken as well as the beef, which were both incredible. Excellent service and delicious food 😋

Our party arrived up to one hour later than we had booked, and the restaurant staff were so accommodating! It all worked out fine, and we had lovely food in beautiful surroundings.

Visited for dinner and can’t rate The Riverstation highly enough! Enjoyed a drink on the terrace in the sun overlooking the harbour first (excellent Aperol Spritz) before enjoying a fantastic meal upstairs. My wife had the burrata and asparagus, followed by the buttermilk chicken with truffle fries, while I had the trout to start and the spring lamb for main. All of it was sensational, perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. The star of the show, however, was the Muscovado Tart! I’m not usually a dessert person but this was incredible and well worth the calories!! The staff were lovely, highly attentive without being intrusive and compliments to the chef and his team for producing a very high class dining experience. Will definitely be back!

Beautiful setting on the river, a sophisticated menu and a lot of space

Beautifully cooked medium-rare Chateaubriand, good crunchy chips, and a very fresh salad, simply but beautifully dressed, all washed down with some decent red wine, with a view over the harbour. What's not to like?

We had a really lovely rendezvous with friends on the balcony overlooking the water and view. With delicious food and drinks we enjoyed a great time in a wonderful venue.

Exceptional menu and the food was spot on. Great day to have a lunch out in the deck. Their cheese board and charcuterie is amazing.

The go to for either a casual lunch, or a very nice dinner. Their dry aged steaks are of absolute top quality. The setting is perfect to show off Bristol if you are not from the city.

We had a coffee in the terrace. A bad coffee - they made it twice for me but that made no difference. The views paid off. The staff could work on their friendliness and warmth when dealing with customers but maybe we just went there at the wrong moment. I would go again though for the location and views.

There was a slight issue with our booking, however Connor quickly put us at ease and handled this with subtlety and professionalism and went on to ensure that we had all we required for a relaxing and enjoyable evening. The food was lovely and the service from Connor was exceptional.

Had a truly lovely experience at Riverstation. The atmosphere on the riverside terrace, especially in the sunshine, is absolutely charming — a perfect spot to relax and take in the view. The food was beautifully prepared and full of flavour, with thoughtful presentation and a well-balanced menu. What stood out just as much was the service: attentive, polite, and genuinely welcoming. There’s a clear sense of pride and professionalism among the team, which made the whole visit feel even more special. A wonderful place to return to, whether for a leisurely lunch or an evening out.

We had the best Mother’s Day lunch overlooking the Harbourside. Served by the lovely Connor who paired the best red with my roast beef. It was delicious. It’s been a mainstay in bristol for over 25 years for a good reason!

It was a fantastic experience from start to finish, friendly welcoming staff and the Manager Andrew was very good at putting me at ease as I was lunching on my own. The food was second to none. I had a steak which was very good, exactly how I had requested it to be cooked, I would definitely recommend you trying the place out you will not be disappointed. Can’t wait to go back and try something else off the menu.

Firstly, the views from the restaurant overlooking the river are beautiful, even more so on a sunny day. The restaurant itself is really lovely and decorated beautifully. The food, wow! We had focaccia & olives to start, cote de boeuf to share and tiramisu and a rice pudding for dessert. The steak was ordered medium/rare and that is exactly what we got. We have tried a lot of steak places in our time but we both agreed this is one of the best we have ever had. We loved being able to see the steaks in the dry ager too. The service was good and staff very attentive. We will definitely try the Riverstation again next time we are in Bristol. I can imagine it’s great to have a drink there in the summer out on the balcony.

We held a networking dinner for c.20 clients/contacts in the private room recently, which got brilliant feedback from our guests: - Staff were friendly and the service was smooth, never waiting long for food or drinks. We liked that they were quick to bring more jugs of water. - The venue itself was lovely and multiple guests commented on how nice the space was. The room was a great size for our group. The table setting was beautiful without being over-the-top. - The food was fabulous and again, something our guests commented on. A noticeable step-up from the usual big event catering. Behind the scenes, the team (especially Emily) was brilliant - clear and fast communication, and very accommodating with a few last-minute changes. A big 'thank you' from us and our guests, Emily and team, for a brilliant event - we'll definitely be back!

We came for a late Sunday lunch. Service was friendly and welcoming, the view is lovely of the river and swans etc and the food was delicious.

We went for Sunday lunch to celebrate a birthday. The views are beautiful and we had a great table which comfortably seated 5 of us. As the children were hungry we started with some bread and olives which set the meal off nicely. We all opted for a traditional roast as our main course, beef, pork and chicken were chosen. The meals arrived promptly, were nicely presented however the biggest disappointment, for me, was the roast potatoes as they were not crispy at all. At least there was a generous amount unlike the solitary roast carrot that was included on each plate. The meat was nice and again a generous portion but my beef was rather tough. The gravy or jus, if we are being accurate, was rather watery and not as flavourful as I would expect. The service was excellent and the dessert was the most delicious part of the meal but it’s a shame the main dish was not up to the standards I would expect from dining out.!

Stopped off for breakfast drawn in by great views from the restaurant. Wasn’t all that busy but service was a little slow. Once ordered food came out quickly but eggs and mushrooms were over cooked. Coffee was good and would have stayed for another if it would have come out promptly. Sadly wouldn’t rush back, will try Harbour House or Mud Dock Cafe next time.

The perfect place to entertain visiting family. (Including two young teenagers who never sulked once!!!) The food was well prepared and presented. Our server actually arranged with the chef to modify one of the dishes for us. Staff were friendly but very professional without being too formal! No negative comments from any of our party - including the trenagers.

We've been coming back to River Station for the best part of 25 years - at least it feels that way. It's not changed much and is a standout restaurant - we've never had a disappointing meal. Everything is now much more expensive but it's always good value. Cooked and served by a young, professional and caring team this would be our number one restaurant. We had three courses and a bottle of wine for £130. Making a reservation is easy and it's great all year round.

A place that offers a must-try menu, a real culinary experience, with excellent value for money and generous portions with exceptional taste, all with impeccable service that makes you feel truly welcome! The outdoor area is also beautiful, with an enchanting and suggestive view. 100% worth trying!

The lamb was absolutely stunning, best lamb I've ever had. Great location, right on the water and great service. We will definitely be back again.

Misleading A board outside advertising fixed price menu that ends hours earlier

Nice venue, menu is ok - nothing to write home about - but the services is below average, despite asking for a fast turnaround food took more than 30mins to be delivered with little to no apology - in fact a bit of an argument about whether we had or had not told them!

It’s such a beautiful place, and the food is tasty! I ordered seabream (with truffle fries) and amoretto tiramisu. All are delicious!

Well presented and very tasty food, good knowledge on wine paring.

OH MY GOODNESS WHAT AN UNDERRATED GEM! I was expecting my food to be alright and the wine to be all right but absolutely everything was phenomenal. The tables should be packed on a Saturday evening compliments to the chef it was absolutely incredible. I will be back here to impress people cause my god it's gorgeous. Absolutely fabulous food i had a chicken dish which I thought would be very meh but the flavours popped it was an explosion of culinary genius!

Misleading advertisement. Didn’t state that set menu was between 12 and 6. You need to make offers much clearer.

Andy, Leonardo and eryna were fantastic! Leonardo answered every single question we had with ease. Eryna gave us perfect service attentive and friendly and Andy made our meal here just perfect with his clear communication, friendly service and happy to help attitude there was no request too strange or too out there that Andy couldn't handle. Honestly felt like home coming to the riverstation as all of the staff were friendly and informative and welcoming. This is my favourite spot in town for food and drinks!

At Riverstation by the shore, The flavors sing, you'll ask for more. Yet staff are cool, a frosty guise, With distant stares and quiet replies. No hot sauce here to fan the flame, Just dishes worthy of their name.

Awful very over priced food. Had the audacity to expect a tip

We spent our New Year’s Eve at River Station in Bristol, and overall, it was a lovely evening. The restaurant itself has a fantastic atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. A special mention goes to our Ukrainian waitress, who was outstanding. She went above and beyond to make sure our experience was memorable and made us feel very welcome. The food was excellent in quality, but for the price of the set menu, the portion sizes could have been more generous. By midnight, we still felt a bit hungry, which was a slight letdown considering the occasion. One major disappointment was the entertainment. When we booked through Emily Badman, the Events and Sales Manager, we were informed that Denise DeMille, a semi-finalist from Britain’s Got Talent, would be performing. However, on the night, a different artist played, and we were not notified of this change beforehand. This was especially frustrating since our group of seven had been looking forward to Denise’s performance as part of the evening’s appeal. Despite these minor setbacks, the overall experience was fantastic. The ambiance, staff, and food (though portion sizes could improve) were all wonderful. We highly recommend River Station for special occasions, but a bit more transparency about entertainment changes and adjustments to portion sizes would make the experience truly exceptional.

What restaurant in 2024 cannot cater for vegetarian customers? I understand that you may want to offer an oldschool meaty Christmas dinner but for goodness sake have a back up plan so that my vegan friend can at least have some potatoes and gravy with his nut roast (which was smoosh) and carrots (also smoosh for some reason). Nut roast & carrots do NOT make a Christmas dinner! It is little effort to do this, and it's not as if you weren't pre-warned. Also you're in Bristol ffs, you really have no excuse! You ruined his work Christmas meal. You're an established restaurant with good food, have a word with yourself and do better.

We visited on Christmas Eve. We had booked for the Christmas set menu and we’d even phoned a couple weeks before to ask if this menu was going to be available on Christmas Eve and we were told yes. When we got there were however we were only given just a regular menu and some of the options we had been eyeing online weren’t there especially options for the vegetarians and pescatarians in our group. Also worked out more expensive overall. There was no apology or explanation for the Christmas menu not being available. The food was alright. I had the pork rack and tbf it lacked flavour. Pretty bland and I had to add salt and pepper and I’m normally someone who finds most things salty enough. Some of my group ordered the lamb belly and the size of the lamb was tiny - portion I would give a 6year old child at home not even exaggerating here. If you choose to go here, be careful because whatever menu you see online, will likely end up being very different from what they print out on the day and there’s no warning for this. I paid £50 for my share of the hill which was an elderflower presse, sharing bread and olives between three people, pork rack, chunky chips, red wine jus side and and a treacle tart pudding. So I guess it’s reasonable but for Bristol, I would’ve got better tasting food elsewhere for that price.

We had lunch in the Pontoon bar. The food and service were great. The restaurant upstairs was expensive for a lunch and was empty on Saturday. Presumably it's busy in the evening. Very nice Viognier.

Last year, 2023, you will see my review was faultless as it was brilliant. This year it was appalling and now after three visits and with such a poor experience, I will not return. Food was bland and nothing special at all, I had the steak which was cheap, hard to cut and no taste to it, with some veg that was badly presented and small in quantity. Unlike 2023 the waiting staff were not to standard and made the evening feel like a fast food venue. Desserts were bland and nondescript, overall the food was poor. The venue was rammed and very stressful and not comfortable at all with the bar full of drinkers and made a really special occasion unpleasant. As usual ‘top dollar’ charged, when a visit to Burger King would have been better, tastier food and a better atmosphere.

30 of us attended Riverstation for our work Christmas dinner last night. This had taken some organisation prior to visiting and Emily at Riverstation was helpful, professional and polite in helping organise this / accommodate diners with various food allergies/ intolerances. We had a fantastic meal/ evening. The food was delicious, hot and brought out all in good time - so all 30 of us were eating the same course at the same time. There was plenty of time given between courses and people managed to mingle with their colleagues. The staff were polite & helpful throughout, clearing the tables regularly and checking in if everything was okay. The team also accommodated a guide dog with a generous space, water and food bowl. This was a relaxed evening with colleagues with a lovely ambience/ atmosphere, very nice food & the team at Riverstation helped the evening go smoothly. All colleagues commented that they had had a lovely meal and enjoyed their evening. Thank you Riverstation for all your hard work last night, which was very much appreciated.

Food not as good as it used to be, balance of flavours not quite right. Service under pressure from a huge party made a minor mistake with the order but apologised and did not charge for an item given as a misunderstanding. Service generally good.Always a pleasant place to visit

Absolutely fantastic time at The Riverstation last night for our annual Christmas Dinner. Emily, Renato and all the team made our works party go so smoothly and the service was outstanding. I have held our party here for at least the last 5 years, and we come back time and time again because of the service, the ambience and the amazing food! Would recommend to anyone :)

We all had the set Christmas menu. The beef couldn't be cut, given steak knife, still no good. Meal was replaced, still no good. Turkey not too bad. Had a long wait for Cranberry and Horseradish sauce, had nearly finished meal by the time it came, and that was because I ate slowly trying to wait for it. For some reason starters and deserts were served on the smallest plates they had. Crumble had to be sent back as wasn't hot, and not much custard. Appeared to be only 2 staff, who had to work at the bar and serve the meals. Management should organise this better.

We returned to River Station for a second time, hoping to enjoy some drinks. Unfortunately, the lady working behind the bar was quite rude and unhelpful, Her colleague even shouted at us from across the room. This experience was disappointing, especially since we had a relaxing visit in 2023 that prompted our return. Needless to say we promptly left and took our business elsewhere.

The service was incredible and the food just the same! I have allergies and really appreciated the care and time the staff spent making sure I could eat a variety of things / gut check the ingredients lists. They even brought out their allergen binder and let me go through it to confirm I was comfortable to eat!

I have been going to the Pontoon Bar for many years: the new menu is disappointing so will probably give it a miss for a while until the menu changes again. Service fine, space was nearly empty (3 or 4 tables occupied) so atmosphere not great. When the pontoon bar did basics well eg savoury tart, veggie burger, steak and chips it was much better as it catered for a wide range of tastes so more attractive when meeting groups of friends.

Casual dining on the ground floor is charming. Good food from a short menue and cheerful atmosphere. In the main first floor resaurant, it is a bit more formal and posh. Surely the best sunday roast in Bristol! The Riverstation has been firm favourite in Bristol for years, but when push comes to shove, Sunday roast which so often disappoints, really hits the spot here. Really good service and a convivial atmosphere.the Try their roast beef. Sublime.

A group of 3 attended for a meeting up leisurely lunch. Disappointed with small number of unrealistic choices on the lunch set menu so felt forced onto the a la carte. The prices here have risen markedly although the quality of the imaginative dish (we all had the chicken) was very good and a substantially sized portion. Perhaps reflecting that we were there on a Tuesday lunchtime, the restaurant was very quiet which dulled the ambiance Service was attentive enough without us feeling pressured but then time was not an issue for us on this occasion. I suggest some lighter, less complex but good quality dishes on the lunch set menu at its current price would make the experience more attractive.

Often visit here, today just for a beer. We always sit in the lower bar right by the glass wall overlooking the waterfront, or outside on the terrace. Great atmosphere.

I love this place because of the spot closed to the river, the view is lush everywhere you look at. It's surprisingly quiet and perfect for meeting up with your partner, family and friends.

We had a lovely meal in the restaurant area upstairs. We were seated at a table by the window with views across the harbour which was nice. The food was delicious and the service was warm and efficient.

I'd been to Riverstation probably 8 or so years ago so took a punt on inviting 4 colleagues to try it out for dinner. We were not disappointed. Although there were a couple of items not available, the options left were perfectly fine. Bear in mind that this is a heavily meat-driven menu although there are several alternatives as well. The wine list is a sensible size (i.e. not too long) and the prices were in line with those for the food - not silly. The presentation on the plate was very good and, other than the odd bone, we cleared every dish. The scallop, mackerel and duck breast starters were excellent and the venison was terrific. The service was very attentive. We somewhat overindulged on the drinks - hence the elevated cost - but you pay for excellent food. I'll certainly go back next time I'm in Bristol.

An eclectic menu, we arrived for a light lunch just after 12 noon, both ordered same dish from the menu, disappointed hadn't got it! Having noticed the breakfast menu which finished 15 minutes earlier, we were cheeky and ordered off the breakfast menu. Staff happy to serve us from the breakfast menu. We sat inside, by the window overlooking the water, very pleasant.
