The service was incredible and the food just the same! I have allergies and really appreciated the care and time the staff spent making sure I could eat a variety of things / gut check the ingredients lists. They even brought out their allergen binder and let me go through it to confirm I was comfortable to eat!

I have been going to the Pontoon Bar for many years: the new menu is disappointing so will probably give it a miss for a while until the menu changes again. Service fine, space was nearly empty (3 or 4 tables occupied) so atmosphere not great. When the pontoon bar did basics well eg savoury tart, veggie burger, steak and chips it was much better as it catered for a wide range of tastes so more attractive when meeting groups of friends.

Casual dining on the ground floor is charming. Good food from a short menue and cheerful atmosphere. In the main first floor resaurant, it is a bit more formal and posh. Surely the best sunday roast in Bristol! The Riverstation has been firm favourite in Bristol for years, but when push comes to shove, Sunday roast which so often disappoints, really hits the spot here. Really good service and a convivial atmosphere.the Try their roast beef. Sublime.

A group of 3 attended for a meeting up leisurely lunch. Disappointed with small number of unrealistic choices on the lunch set menu so felt forced onto the a la carte. The prices here have risen markedly although the quality of the imaginative dish (we all had the chicken) was very good and a substantially sized portion. Perhaps reflecting that we were there on a Tuesday lunchtime, the restaurant was very quiet which dulled the ambiance Service was attentive enough without us feeling pressured but then time was not an issue for us on this occasion. I suggest some lighter, less complex but good quality dishes on the lunch set menu at its current price would make the experience more attractive.

An eclectic menu, we arrived for a light lunch just after 12 noon, both ordered same dish from the menu, disappointed hadn't got it! Having noticed the breakfast menu which finished 15 minutes earlier, we were cheeky and ordered off the breakfast menu. Staff happy to serve us from the breakfast menu. We sat inside, by the window overlooking the water, very pleasant.

I'd been to Riverstation probably 8 or so years ago so took a punt on inviting 4 colleagues to try it out for dinner. We were not disappointed. Although there were a couple of items not available, the options left were perfectly fine. Bear in mind that this is a heavily meat-driven menu although there are several alternatives as well. The wine list is a sensible size (i.e. not too long) and the prices were in line with those for the food - not silly. The presentation on the plate was very good and, other than the odd bone, we cleared every dish. The scallop, mackerel and duck breast starters were excellent and the venison was terrific. The service was very attentive. We somewhat overindulged on the drinks - hence the elevated cost - but you pay for excellent food. I'll certainly go back next time I'm in Bristol.

From the moment we arrived and the waiter left us standing for ten mins whilst he set up tables and then rudely asked who we were, we regretted our lunch venue choice. This man gave no eye contact, was not happy to be there and then when serving our drinks spilt a third of my diet coke over my partners lap. There was no apology and he ignored what he had done, not even offering to top up my drink that was now partly on the table and my partners jeans. Unfortunately the experience just got worse with the worse food we have had out in Bristol over the past few years. We ordered chicken, which was a leg, with barely any meat and the triple cooked chips had been reheated in the microwave. Soggy and more like chunks of mash. My mum paid £40 for lobster which was overcooked and shrank to barely any meat. This meal was expensive and KFC would had been a lot nicer. We rebooked here after having a lovely Sunday lunch last year, but we will never book here again! The waiter definitely needs more training in costumer service and the chef needs training on how to cook food properly. Even if they paid us to return we would not after this.

This, for my wife and i was an aniversary lunch and I have not been to riverstation for some time but had heard its reputation put it up there amongst the best. Overall the meal was generally lovely. Cooked to perfection and presented in a simple but delicious way. The staff were attentive and whilst at times the service between courses was slow, we were in no real hurry so it worked for us. We had some food for the table. Starters mains and puddings and so pushed the boat out on this occasion. In terms of any feedback i would offer. My wife thought the chicken dish she had was grossly overpriiced for its content which basically consisted of a battered, over fried chicken leg smothered in sauce to disguise its inadiquate proportion. It was mostly drumstick with very little meat and quite dry despite all the sauce. We made these points to our waiter who was quick to fix the issue. In my opinion this dish would be better as a chicken breast, boneless as this would be better value overall. My steak at £45 was at the edge of acceptable for that huge price tag. But it was a special occasion so there you go. However the sides were underwhelming. A beautifully stacked, Jenga style, of literally 6 or 7 chips, triple fried and some small bitter green peppers that were crunchy and no more than barely cooked. We left most of those. I opted for the red wine Jus reduction as a sauce which was inedibly salty due to to the level of reduction and quite thin in its volume. The Marmite mash was a winner though. Really tasty. Finally i have to say the puddings were something to nothing. A small slice of lemon pie with burnt merangue and a couple of rogue raspberry halves trying to make the huge amount of sauceless empty space on the place Look less obvious. Overall a lot of money for an average meal. It was a bit like buying an expensive car only to discover that it had brown velour seats and a 1970 cassette player. I would go back but be more critical at the time and certainly not as a special event meal such as it was for my wife and I. 6/10.. could do better. Oh and before I forget, a glass of Malbec at almost £13 is outrageous!

We attended a Jazz night and paid £20 for the music. We also ordered a plate for two. The food was delicious, and the service was lovely. The music was okay, but we didn’t feel it justified the extra charge. The atmosphere was nice, and the restaurant itself is charming. However, we didn’t enjoy the dessert—the chocolate polenta was too greasy. In the end, we paid £180 for the meal, including a whisky and a glass of wine, plus £20 for the music, bringing the total to £200. We felt that the price was not justified by the overall experience. The day after, the restaurant manager called me and refunded the £20, which was very nice of them to recognize the issue. Thanks to this gesture, I will now give them 4 stars ⭐️.

We had a Sunday lunch here yesterday. My husband and I both chose the Porchetta. The meal arrived fairly well presented. However, once I removed the Yorkshire pudding, it exposed the Porchetta. The Porchetta was literally a coil of fat - it wasn’t cooked well at all - no crispiness and just several centimetres of pork in the middle, of a load of fat. It was disappointing that someone in the kitchen had thought this was acceptable to send out to customers, when it would have been totally inedible. We mentioned it to the waiter and the meals were taken back to the kitchen, to be cooked correctly. However, just the fact that this happened is extremely offputting and disappointing in a fairly expensive restaurant. We have had far superior Sunday lunches elsewhere. The waiting staff were pleasant but they seemed extremely short staffed with just the two of them. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this place.

This should easily be a four star restaurant but, from my experience, the service and a few other things let it down. Let’s start with the food though. Good menu choices and good to see some steaks hung to mature in a display cabinet. The scallops starter I had wasn’t paired right I don’t think - the sauce was too strong for the gentle sweetness of scallops. Next to the steak - well, it was very good produce but, my medium rare came as medium and when 35% of your overall steak is fat, you feel a bit hard done by given the price of the steak. The fries were also disappointing. Soft on the inside but soft on the outside too, so no crispness to them. And the salad leaves the steak came with were just a waste of time, no seasoning or dressing on them. A saving grace for the steak though was the red jus, which was amazing. What bumped the whole experience up mind was the cheesecake, which was by far one of the best I have had. So to the service. We had a table for 8 booked for lunch and we arrived to an empty restaurant, which was fine. Not sure why they couldn’t find our booking (they did eventually) and someone tried to seat us at a 6 table despite us confirming we needed a table for 8. We had to chase placing a food order and getting the bill, so we were left too long at times. They didn’t have enough menus printed for that day, and the drinks order took too long. As a table for 8, with mainly only soft drinks, the bill at over 700 was a lot for an overall experience of a 3 star restaurant.

We've been regular visitors to the Riverstation for years, usually to the Pontoon bar, but this time we'd received a Sunday lunch gift voucher for the upstairs restaurant. Someone came to take our food order but we said we'd like drinks first. When they eventually came we ordered bread and olives to share followed by a roast beef lunch for each of us. Having waited a considerable time for the olives and bread we were just about to call a waiter to find out where they were when he arrived with our main courses. We complained that we hadn't had our starter yet so please would he take it off the bill. A short time later the manager came over to apologise and offered to bring the starter for no charge but we declined as we were just about to start on the beef. It didn't appear to be very busy, there were a couple of larger parties there but the staff didn't seem very focused. We paid at the bar as no-one came near for us to ask for the bill. It's the first time we've left the Riverstation without leaving a tip. It's our view that standards are slipping. All in all it was a disappointment and, while we may be back for the Pontoon bar, it's unlikely we'll return to the restaurant.

Oh dear. I remember this place from many years ago when I often came here with work colleagues. It's a shadow of what it was. We were in the bar. The setting is good but the place was empty. Having eaten the food I'm not surprised. The food all looked tired. My crab stir fry looked as though it was yesterday's heated up. The same applied to the main course. My companion fared better but she was hungry and young and would probably have eaten anything. I had to ask for some bread and I had the impression that someone had had to scrape the barrel to find some cold rather hard bread. The bill didn't disappoint! Over 100 pounds. Scandalous and I won't be going back.

Arrived on time for a 5pm reservation with an unknown couple at an otherwise empty restaurant. Rather than dealing with us separately we were ushered to our separate tables together. Seems there might have been a private party elsewhere on the premises. We left 100 minutes later, leaving 5 couples behind still dining, and £78 out of pocket. During this time we had a single glass of beer, 3 of the tiniest, slightly overcooked hasselback potatoes ever seen, a rather nice plaice and a pork chop with bland kimchi cabbage, the stem included which was inedible. No time for dessert or coffee as we had another engagement, even though we had been sitting with the menu undisturbed for 10 minutes. The couple who arrived at the same time as us seemed to fare better as they did get their desserts. It's your decision, but I'll not cross the threshold again. Left feeling very disappointed and still hungry.

We came for a celebration dinner using a voucher for £100 for two. The restaurant wasn't very busy but we got seated directly next to other diners who were quite loud, so multiple times we felt like we had to pause our conversation while they were interacting with the waiter. The view over the river was very pleasant. Food wise, extremely hit and miss. The entree of mussels was delicious and the desserts were very well presented and well balanced in terms of flavours. However, the bread and butter for the table were respectively not tasting fresh and too cold and hard. And both of our mains (chicken supreme and pasta) were quite underwhelming, with the pasta specifically feeling like it's missing sauce. Overall we had a pleasant night but for the price point the evening did not feel special enough.

We visited the Riverstation as a group on the 18th May. All meals we're prebooked and therefore things should have run smoothly. The meal commence with Bread and Olives for the table. Our table had six people on it and we got four (half) slices of bread and no olives, when ask for a further two slices of bread we were told we would be charged for an additional portion! The serving of starters was slow and this continued through the further courses with many finished eating before others had been served. The 'pound signs' had obviously been the restaurants main priority as it was quite apparent the meals had all been precooked and warmed as necessary, burnt cauliflower showing the tail tail signs. I paid an £8 supplement for what was three small pieces of sweaty cheese probably about £1.50 worth. All our party left disappointed, totally unsatisfactory.

Such a disappointing experience for my husband's birthday dinner on Saturday night. We were running a bit late due to taxi delay but I phoned ahead to advise and they were happy to accommodate. We arrived and were seated at a window table as requested so that was good; took a while to take our drinks order but again this would not have been a big deal had it not gone downhill from there. Over 30 minutes to get a our starter; 1hr45m in there was still no sign of our main course. Not one member of staff advised us of or apologised for the wait or offered us drinks refills, until we complained. I asked to speak to a manager, who then took ages to come over the first time and said he'd come back as soon as we'd finished the main. We ate fairly quickly as by that point we had been in the restaurant over 2 hours. The plates were cleared after about 10 minutes; again we received no apology, no check in as to whether our food had been ok for us, no offer of drinks or dessert (not that we would have stayed for those!). I had a table booked at another venue for drinks and entertainment at 10pm which I had to cancel as we were still in the restaurant. We waited another 20 minutes after our plates had been cleared and the manager was doing anything but coming to sort things out with us. I would have been expecting at least the mains to be removed from the bill but wasn't really happy to pay for any food after the terrible service, attitude and food not worth the over 2 hour wait. After he continued to ignore us, I'd had enough so I got up and made my way to the exit. He watched us pass him and didn't even say a word. The restaurant had my phone number and email address from my online booking but I am still yet to receive any communication regarding my experience or the fact I had to walk out without paying (or sit there all night being ignored!). If they had contacted me, I would have paid for the drinks. I don't expect perfect service every time; issues are unavoidable. What I do expect, is for them to be handled appropriately and efficiently and this was far from it. Such shame as the setting, location and atmosphere were great.

This was a disappointing experience, we had a table booked for a large group (13 people) where we pre-ordered Sunday lunch before our arrival for after the Bristol Half-Marathon, where we were all looking forward to Sunday Lunch. - After arriving, we had to wait for over an hour before our food arrived when we had already pre-ordered. - When food arrived, the starter was forgotten for one of the guests so this was brought at the same time of the mains. - One of the beef dinners was plated without any potatoes. - For a number of guests, the dinners were cold which meant they had to be sent back. From my experience, I would say this is on the pricier side for a roast dinner and does not live up to expectation. On the plus side, the restaurant is in a nice setting but overall, this was a disappointing experience. From the reviews of this restaurant, it may seem it was an off-day but nonetheless it was a disappointing experience for the 12 guests and I.

Yesterday (Sat) evening-Food excellent when it came -but took too long to be served with anything-even drinks(which were different to our order) Not sure what happened but not enough staff for sure. Disappointing for our group.

Food and service both good, but the setup in the outside area isn't quite right. The tables are very close together, so you essentially feel like you're dining with strangers if you're sitting outside and it's busy. This is fine, but you need to play music or something so you can't hear every word being said on the table next to you. It makes for a very awkward atmosphere.

I always love this restaurant, it delivers nice food at sensible prices in a fantastic location and the staff are lovely. They couldn’t have been more helpful to us whilst we were celebrating my mother‘s 90th birthday. Thank you for making our day special.

It’s a lovely setting overlooking the river, but it’s a little overpriced for the quality of food that you get. We went on a Saturday night at 7:30 pm and they had already run out of two dishes. The cauliflower starter was tasty but massively overcooked. The chicken supreme was well presented but the chicken was overcooked and dry. The staff were lovely and the service was good too. It’s a shame about the quality food as we won’t be rushing back

Went early Wednesday evening- very quiet. Menu selection looked good, but had run out - Oysters, risotto, steaks (only sirloin & bavette on). Vegetarian options very limited (Chose starter as main). Trout was fish - excellent. Dingley Dell pork tasted very good, but dry (slightly overcooked). Sauces & extra veggies very, very tasty. Overall, meal, service & view was very good. I can understand mid-week, they might be unable to serve the odd dish, but not 5-6. Unfortunately had to score down, not on quality, but on menu - choices/out of stock.

The food was good, which is obviously important, but the service wasn’t up to the Riverstation’s usually standard. Drinks took ages to arrive / didn’t appear. Waiter didn’t write down our order (which makes me nervous) and as a result it was wrong when it arrived. Staff were pleasant but inefficient. So the whole dinner was quite hard work. We enjoy the food so will be back, but hoping for better.

I got a chicken kebab made with love! I came in right as they were closing and they were kind enough to make me a sandwich even though they didn't have to at a fair price. So good and delicious

What a find, it’s been here for years, why haven’t I eaten here before. It’s fantastic. Great food, great drinks and a fab service. It deserves every one of the five star rating. Highly recommended for breakfast or lunch.

Went for lunch with my 2 sisters. Had the larger tasting menu paired with the wine flight. Every course tasted heavenly and pairing was great. Philip the sommelier was at the top of his game 🤓, each pairing was explained in detail and so were the courses. I will definitely go back with a lot more friends. Oh, the sourdough bread & butter made in house was to die for 😋😋😋😋

We had been advised to try out Oz Restaurant by several friends and we were not disappointed. We were made to feel welcome the minute we were through the door and nothing was too much effort. The restaurant itself is modestly furnished - more like a bistro - but that added to the charm. The menu offers a god range of dishes and everything we had was full of flavour and well presented. We chatted to the owner who said they use local food as much as possible and organic where available and in season. Finally, the price was also modest. We will be going back
