Soprano's in Portsmouth

Just had the lunch offer at Sopranos and it was absolutely delicious . I had crostini with houmous ,salad and tomatoes followed by blue cheese risotto with courgette and pine nuts £13.95 I loved every single mouthful . Finished off with gorgeous tiramisu. Went with friends and shared a cold bottle of blush Pinot Grigio . Outstanding

We had the garlic bread with cheese, chips and 2 pastas (diavola and cannelloni) , the food was excellent and the service quick and attentive.

I was so disappointed on our meal , we as family went for Friday evening meal . Starters took 40mins and more and they were awful. One of the waitresses was very rude , plunk food front of us , pushing in to lay table , no excuse me or politeness. I had special of day ,looked awful and did not taste very nice . One of us had pizza , when it came had ingredients missing and was not sliced either .nice waitress asked us if everything ok? one of us said it is all prety awful , and she just smiled and left rather asking what was awful.I been using sopranos for years , never in past had any problems until Last year .We booked a table for Saturday, we had family coming down from London, When got to restaurant, they had no booking and did not make any effort to rectify the error so on Saturday night we had to look for another restaurant.

What a perfect Italian restaurant we both had specials pasta and catch of the day both excellent my other half’s pasta was delicious I had sardines to start could have been by the med Really good attentive staff and pretty good value

If you're looking for a place that serves up great pizza and salads, with a welcoming vibe, then head straight over. Very accommodating with lovely fresh ingredients. Will definitely visit when next in Portsmouth.

There was a time when a trip to Sopranos was highly anticipated. The evidence of this visit suggests those days are gone. There is much to like about the restaurant. The staff are excellent, and the starters are fine, if not remarkable. Things went downhill with the pizzas. Our party of 3 all ordered pizzas. They used to be wonderful things, wonderfully crisp and fluffy base, stretching over the rim of the plate. The pizza bases were flat and very uninspiring. The topping was fine, but the impression was more Iceland than Italy. A really big disappointment, which is a huge shame. Not sure why this should have happened, but I cannot recommend the place on the evidence of this visit.

Beautiful king prawns with plenty of garlic served with the best Aioli I have ever had was a very good way to start the meal. It was followed by a lovely rump steak salad. Wonderfully fresh and the steak soft and pink. Profiteroles ended and great lunch. Remains the best restaurant in Portsmouth.

Fabulous night food amazing, starters delicious especially the sardines. All mains delicious and the sweets too. Our waitress was a delight, excellent service she had a laugh with us and what a great personality she has. Price was good £50 pp but there was quite a bit of alcohol involved. Highly recommend

Popped in for a anniversary meal we were not disappointed as per usual the meal was outstanding my wife had a rump steak salad which was melt in the mouth. I had a pizza which was one of the best I've ever had this restaurant in my view is the best in Portsmouth

The venue is delightful and the staff even more so We have had a fabulous meal here this evening. So tasty and very authentic Italian We turned up a tad early for our booking and everyone was so obliging We had a pizza, a risotto and a pasta dish as we visited our grandson who is studying nearby. This place came on a personal recommendation and we have been thrilled throughout. We would absolutely recommend this restaurant without hesitation Are we coming back? You bet!!

Had lunch in a group of 9 , to celebrate a friend’s birthday . Have eaten here many times before , the food and service have always been fab. On this visit it was all exceptional . Tommy the owner was fantastic friendly and jovial. The service was up to its usual friendly high standard and the food was delicious . Some of my friends requested changes to the dishes that they wanted , such as no cheese in the pasta sauce , extra and different toppings on a pizza , etc , etc all requests happily accepted and executed . The place was very busy in fact booked out . At no time did the service falter or the food suffer as a result of being so busy . There was a constant stream of people walking in to try and secure a table for lunch , but they were not successful. Surely testament to Sopranos , well deserved reputation . I had taken a cake with me , which Tommy said just leave it with me , it will go into the fridge until you are ready and I will put the candles on it and bring it out . When we were ready , I popped over to Tommy just inside the kitchen . There he was working on the cake to tidy it up . In transit ( my driving to blame) , it had become quite damaged and he was putting it back together in a very professional and patient way . I apologised to him and suggested that as it was my fault and they were so busy i should try and put the cake back together at the table . He was lovely and said of course not, you go back to your friends and chill, I will carry on here and no one will ever notice . He was right, the cake came out perfectly , he had worked his magic . Nothing was too much trouble for him and his team. This is an example of a local independent restaurant that never fails on any level. They know what they are good at and they do it well. Thank you to Tommy and the whole Sopranos team for a lovely time.

Our first visit to this Italian restaurant situated in a prime location with other eateries nearby. We arrived at 7PM with the restaurant virtually full. The ambience felt good but slightly noisy, as all the tables were very close to each other. Our waitress was excellent and very accommodating, but the quality of the food on the other hand was not. The spaghetti with meat ragu sauce lacked any real flavour or depth, my main course of pollo parmigiano was dry and again the accompanying sauce lacked any flavour. My wife chose the cannelloni with again a sauce lacking flavour. Somewhat disappointing, but we will return one more time just in case the chef had an off night!

Very nice Italian restaurant. Friendly efficient service, decent variety in the menu (they even do a putanesca, I don’t find that often), tasty food. Quality.

Booked Sopranos, wow what a find, from the minute we arrived we was made very welcome, the food was very fresh and cooked beautifully, couldn’t fault the restaurant in anyway, if we was to return to Portsmouth we certainly wouldn’t hesitate in booking Sopranos again. Very reasonably priced and big food portions.

Small restaurant attentive staff. Excellent food, we were a party of ten the meals all arrived together, there was a nice gap between courses. We were not rushed in anyway. Birthday cake came out with coffee with everyone singing happy birthday. Would highly recommend everyone throughly enjoyed their meal.

Great restaurant, excellent service, warm and friendly welcome and comfortable seating with a relaxed atmosphere. The sharer starter is always our go to to start and has somehow managed get even better since our last visit with added potatoes with onions and halloumi! We had a selection of pastas and pizza and the stand out this time was the pasta of the week with chicken, tender stem broccoli with a creamy pesto sauce! It was amazing! All food was perfect, can taste the fresh quality ingredients and care put into each dish! This sets this restaurant apart from many others!

On our trip to Portsmouth we found this little gem of a restaurant, which seems very popular with the locals. Tip to all Book. Luckily we had it was a Tuesday and fully booked. There's a nice selection of drinks and the menu had enough dishes to choose from and I'd say there is something for everyone even if you don't like pasta. We both had bolognaise and it was superb freshly cooked not overly rich but just enough. Good food, great company.

A popular restaurant recommended by word of mouth and I can see why. It was wonderful, we were lucky to get a table so would advise to book. Great service. An intimate environment in a great location. My starter was goats cheese brushetta and it was devine. My main was salmon pasta and it was really tasty and a great portion. My partners steak was excellent. We thought it was good value for the excellent quality.

Le patron regarde alors son portable et nous dit voir notre mail mais ne pas avoir lu ses mails. Incroyable. Aucune solution proposée si ce n’est d’espérer une table sans certitude. Un vrai commerçant !!!

This restaurant is really good, the staff are friendly and helpful, the price reasonable and the food is outstanding. I had the seafood risotto and it was one of the best I've had in ages. The sorbet was also excellent. I had a main, a dessert and two soft drinks and the bill was under £25. I thoroughly recommend Sopranos.

Tidy, simple and tucked away just off the seafront, this bright and friendly establishment has a great vibe - with amazing food! Service was prompt, police and helpful with plenty of choice on their menu. Recommend booking to avoid disappointment

Soprano’s is a perfect place to spend time with your friends. The prices is affordable, and both the pizza and the pasta was top! But the waiting time for the food was too long.

Just so happened to book the place next door until we looked at Sopranos menu. It looked great.So we managed to get a table and honestly, it was wonderful. The staff were the very best. My mum wanted black currant and soda , they went to the shop to buy black currant. The food, was just wonderful.We are so glad we found this place.

We had booked a table in the evening and were very impressed with the COVID measures in place.The restaurant is quite small but they had managed the tables for social distancing very carefully, with very good ventilation.I was relieved that the prices for food and drink were still reasonable, so many places have put their prices up resulting in the final bill bring a heart stopper.My husband had the risotto with hake, salmon & prawns, it was one of the most tastiest meals he had ever eaten.It is always advisable to book, as it is one of the most popular restaurants in Portsmouth.

3 of us had dinner at Sopranos on 22nd June. We sat outside (on the pavement) as we had our 2 dogs with us. This was important to us. Unfortunately this did mean that at times we felt that we were out of site, out of mind as the service wasn’t consistent!We had an anti pasta starter which was average size but very tasty.I had a gluten free penne bolognese which was nice but nothing special. My daughters had Penne con Pollo e Parma (one regular pasta and one gluten free) - they both said their meals were excellent.

We have missed eating at Sopranos and it was as lovely as we had remembered after lock-down. As always the staff were friendly and efficient and the food was amazing value and the best Italian food for miles in our opinion. Do visit it's the best in Southsea!

I love Soprano’s, they never fail to deliver each and every time I have been there. The service is exceptional, friendly and they’re very attentive. But the best part of it all is the food. I visited there today with my 12 year old and he had pizza and I had the ciabatta steak sandwich. They nailed it. Every time I’m in Southsea/Portsmouth I will visit Soprano’s. If you’re in the area too don’t choose anywhere else, you won’t be disappointed.

We’ve visited this restaurant many times and will continue to and recommend it highly. Tommy, Sandy and all the staff are always so welcoming, the food is always freshly cooked and tastes amazing, it’s very good value for money & has a fantastic atmosphere every time, what more could you ask for?! Whenever family or friends visit they insist on going here, I certainly don’t need my arm twisted... thanks guys, you’re all amazing.

Four of us from the same family bubble were so delighted to be back at Sopranos on Saturday which we had booked ages ago. The mussels as always were superb as were the pasta dishes and risotto. Thank you as always.

Popped into this restaurant for a pre-ferry meal and wasn’t disappointed. Overheard another customer asking for the tagliatelle carbonara with added chicken and asked if we could also have it. Not a problem was the answer and the result was excellent. Thought that the chef might add a few bits of chicken but I was wrong there was loads which made a very good dish fantastic. If you are looking for a good restaurant with good food and friendly staff then give this lovely place a try.

Me and my mum went here for a lovely dinner! We had two starters and two pasta dishes. All of it was amazing! The timings were perfect and the staff were lovely. We were able to take our garlic bread home. I would recommend to anyone in the area! :)

I have been visiting Sopranos for the past 20 years and since re-opening I have visited 4 or 5 times and I have been extremely impressed. The food as always has been top notch. I'd recommend lasagne, the steaks and the prawns specifically. The Covid measures have been superb and has not reduced the enjoyment of the place. Keep it up!

Aparecí para almorzar en una visita no planificada y quedamos muy contentos y contentos de haberlo hecho. Teníamos lasaña y un especial de pasta semanal con pan de pizza de ajo para compartir, absolutamente delicioso. La lasaña era casera y deliciosa, llena de carne y de buen tamaño, la pasta semanal especial también era deliciosa y de buen tamaño. Buenos precios también, competitivos con otros y definitivamente volveremos. También me encantó la bolsa de dulces que venía con la factura, me encantó ese pequeño detalle diferente. Recomendaría.

El servicio fue excepcional con nuevos juegos de cubiertos para el entrante y el plato principal, un cuenco para los dedos para los músculos y un tiempo de espera corto para la comida que estaba muy caliente cuando llegó a la mesa. Los camareros estaban atentos en todo momento y el restaurante era hermoso por dentro. We had an excellent meal here! Best Italian restaurant in Portsmouth in my opinion! We had the goats cheese bruschetta and garlic mushrooms to start. Both full of flavour and perfect starters. The mains were spaghetti al frutti di mare (seafood pasta) and risotto alla pescatora. Again wonderful dishes. So full of flavour. The Sicilian wine was excellent. Very friendly staff who looked after us very well.

Family-run with a delicious menu - fish of the day is also a treat. Try the sardine starter or anti pasti, yummy!
