We came for dinner, which was lovely. Our waiter, Ben, was very attentive and polite. The food was good so would recommend. Slightly more expensive place in the area but enjoyable mean, nonetheless.

Went here with small family group after a funeral. Pub itself is pleasant. Table staff were fine and food was OK. Pretty much standard pub grub. Prices reasonable. However we were never asked if everything was OK with our meals, which is pretty unusual and showed a lack of any real concern for customer service. What soured the experience particularly was the smart alec attitude of the girl behind the bar. When I went to pay she was clearly disinterested and when I attempted to make a little bit of conversation simply by saying something like "do I just tap my card here?" her response was an abrupt "it's contactless" in a pretty sarcastic tone as if I was an idiot. Very unprofessional and rude. We will not be returning

I booked in here for a night this week. Not stayed here for several years but was looking forward to it after a pleasant visit last time.. Very nice room, clean and tidy and plenty of room. Nice big flat screen tv and plenty of tea and coffee. Food and service in the restaurant was very average. Was seated straight away but took 15 minutes to take my order or bring me a drink. Food was average at best, burger mediocre and the onion rings were just a soggy shrivelled up mess.

We stayed at the Snowy Owl Inkeepers Lodge for three nights in August. We booked two rooms for a family of five. The family room had a spacious double bed and a pull out sofa bed. The double room had one king bed. Both rooms were basic, but very clean with clean showers (although the family room had a bit of a bad smell coming from the drains). Rooms were cleaned well every day. Kettle in room. Bathrooms are modern and clean. The rooms were great for what we needed - a base to stay while visiting family locally. There was no iron or ironing board in either room which was a bit frustrating and in order to talk to a staff member you have to go into the pub so it’s a bit of a trek. I made do with a crumpled shirt for the day. Also I think the room could have been better if there was a mini fridge to keep cool drinks. We stayed during a bit of a heatwave but we opened the windows and the airflow was ok. No air conditioning. Overall I’d say the rooms are pretty basic, but really clean and very very quiet. There was no noise whatsoever from the adjoining pub and we all slept very well. The pub itself is really nice and we had a Sunday lunch of 10 family members. Food was delicious and service was really friendly and quick. I would have given this hotel 5 stars but I think the rooms need an iron and a fridge!

Once upon a time this was a good place to eat, with reasonable prices and decent sized servings. Now it has a limited and overpriced menu, especially if you are not a lover of seafood or smoky food. The sandwich I had tasted fine, but was the smallest I have ever seen, accompanied by seven chips and a single pea shout. The premises are nice. The staff were joyless, no doubt as they must walk many extra miles needlessly going to and from the tables. We were asked if we had enjoyed the food, but before we could answer our server was half way back to the bar.

The food was mediocre at best , the ‘sea bass fillet ‘on the menu was very over cooked and dry, the veloute was a white sauce, broccoli overcooked to a pulp, mash was tasty. The prawns in the Marie rose cocktail were totally tasteless and watery but the lettuce was good and crunchy. The steak and chips were both ok tho’. I would not recommend. The service was fast and interesting.

We had to book at very short notice due to family emergency. We have been wanting to stay here for a long time as it looks lovely so we took this opportunity to book B&B. Check in was simple and the lady was very friendly and informative. We were given room 18. It was a late arrival so we missed the evening meal so after dropping cases off we headed to the bar. Not many were in the bar and the young man serving was occupied elsewhere. After several minutes he came across and took our order. It was obvious we were interrupting him and it was a chore to serve us. We were going to have a few drinks but after we finished we went to the room as we didn't feel welcome. We went to the room. It was very tired and needs substantial renovation. My wife and I had a shower. After her shower 1st the floor was extremely wet

Sunday lunch with friends booked for 2pm. We were shown to what can only be described as the best seat in the house, a table with open views of the country side next to a roaring log fire. The staff were all dressed in Xmas attire, no I hadn’t slept in for 2 months, they were promoting the launch of the Christmas Menu. 4 roasts ordered, 2 lamb, 2 beef. The server, Ben, was excellent. The meals arrived after about 25 mins and they all looked, and tasted, delicious. Excellent quality throughout and all come with a small jug of gravy mmmmm we also had a side order of cauliflower cheese, careful, one portion was enough for 4 of us. 3 desserts ordered, no Eton Mess available, but the trio of ice cream, banoffee pie and sticky toffee pudding went down a treat. We’ve had a couple of bad experiences in similar pub chains, but this was probably one of the best Sunday Lunches we’ve ever had, no wonder the place was packed ! We will definitely be back.

Stayed here for 2 nights whilst exploring the area. Every member of staff was helpful, friendly and approachable and nothing was too much trouble. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. Nice sized bathroom. The only snag was the shower door only opened so far as it opened against the toilet - it wasn’t an issue and we managed to use the shower comfortably but if you had issues with mobility or were of a larger frame you may struggle. There wasn’t anything to hold on to getting out other than the heated towel rail so if you do need something to hold onto that’s the only part you may struggle. We stayed on the ground floor (10 rooms on the ground floor I believe) so unsure if there is a lift / how accessible the stairs are. If you have any mobility issues I would recommend requesting a ground floor room. There was a huge tv in the room (I appreciate you don’t go away just to watch tv) but this made the football (hubby) more enjoyable and meant we could relax in bed watching a film without having to strain our eyes. Housekeeping were fantastic. On arrival the room was spotless. They tended to the room after the first night (we mistakenly assumed there would be no housekeeping unless requested due to Covid) and treated everything with care - I liked how they kindly organised my make up on the dressing table :-) There is a large onsite car park with plenty of space. Even if the restaurant gets busy you will be able to park your car. We dined at the restaurant both evenings. We did book tables in advance for each night. We requested a specific table type the 2nd night and this was provided for us. The first night our waitress was Courtney - she was super friendly and very attentive despite being really busy. The food was delicious and there was a good choice of drinks available (despite being a reduced menu). The 2nd night was much busier so service was a little slower but totally understandable. We had the steak on the 2nd night and it was the best steak I can remember having in a long time! Our waiter again was very friendly but he was rushed off his feet so we didn’t see as much of him as we did Courtney. We had breakfast the first morning - it isn’t included in the stay and is an additional charge. The menu is quite limited (as in a small list of options) but there is still something for everyone. We opted for the cooked breakfast £8.99 per person (cheaper than ‘chain’ hotels and cooked by a chef). Food arrived after a little wait however it was freshly cooked so this was understandable. The sausages were lovely however the bacon (streaky) wasn’t my thing on a breakfast. Overall really tasty - we didn’t opt for it again on the second day simply because of my fussiness meaning I ask for a lot of items to be removed so it wasn’t the best value for money for me. Would highly recommend both the hotel and restaurant and cannot wait to stay again!

We were so impressed with this hotel. The family room was super clean and comfortable and we all slept well. The customer service has been second to none, and nothing has been too much trouble. The lady at breakfast was especially helpful and friendly and obviously takes a lot of pride in what she does. We will definitely be back!

We arrived at the snowy owl to be met by a flustered person behind bar, we had paid for breakfast added on our 3 nights stay but she told me if we wanted breakfast we would have to pay extra in the bar, wish we had known we wouldn't have booked, the room was really dark and cold the heating wasn't working we asked for a heater which the cleaner gave us with no problem. In the snowy owl bar the food wasn't very nice and expensive. Staff in bar was not really that polite and very slow service. We were very disappointed with our stay

My family and I recently spent a 2 night stay at this accommodation. Having paid £170 up front for the stay we were extremely disappointed to have no hot water throughout the stay, the room was either too hot or too cold and the internet hardly worked in the room at all. The main issue however was the lack of hot water which I had flagged after the first night but was not put right. Honestly said Ive travelled throughout the world but always have had hot water wherever I have stayed. This recent experience would put me off visiting again. Thats a shame as its a nice property and well situated for Northumberland.

We went as a group of 6 to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday. Despite there being a balloon and table decorations there was no reference made by anyone serving us. The restaurant area was cold&draughty. As it is December, Christmas lunch was on the the menu. It was virtually cold when it arrived, the carrots hadn't even been peeled, sprouts cold and pig in blanket extremely salty. The roast potatoes were dry, only the parsnips were nice. The turkey was mediocre. The sirloin steak, for an extra £4, having asked for well done, was almost cremated! The Christmas pud was dry and a very small amount of brandy sauce. Our Waiter, Oliver was most attentive, however, 2 ladies who brought food were anything but friendly. We have eaten here in the past and enjoyed our meals so felt totally let down on such a special occasion. We won't be eating there again!

Stop in for lunch with the family, found a table and were greeted with a menu.A substantial menu including vegetarian options, you would be a picky eater to not find something to eat from the menu. We had the special of lasagna, the Mezza plate for 2 and the pate plate. The lasagna was piping hot rich and very tasty and the chips were the best I have eaten in the region. The mezza plate was substantial just for 2 and the pate was gold. No complaints about the service, food or environment. Will definitely be back when in the area, it’s also worth a drive.

We visited for lunch after tramping over Northumberlandia. It is a huge restaurant with lots of little adjoining rooms and areas. We found it very dark but managed to get a window table so that we could read the menu. We chose from the special lunch menu. The pates were excellent with innovative sauces. The bread seemed a bit hard at first but matched the pate perfectly. We had the chicken pie and lobster fish cake. The pie was huge, excellent pastry and lots of veg. The fish cake was quite small but with a lovely sauce. It came with new potatoes, and given that there was also potato in the fish cake we felt that there was something of an imbalance with so much potato. Nevertheless we thoroughly enjoyed our meal, which left no room for pud. Service was prompt and friendly. Highly recommended.

Dissappointing meal that caused us all to have dessert just to fill up. I'd selected the venue for a family tea but it's not somwhere I'd choose again. The service was good and quick, dinner came within minutes of ordering. However it was warm and lacking in content. The extremely large Yorkshire filled half of the plate and little effort was made to fill the rest. We all selected the triple meat portion which in total added up to the size of a chicken fillet. Not great for a family of meat lovers. There was no mash either but I'm guessing the three roasties were meant to fill you up.

Here with my parents this lunchtime after a nice visit to Northumberlandia. We all ordered drinks and sandwiches which all came with French fries. Drinks were fine although no local ales unfortunately. When the food arrived the French fries were tepid like they'd been made about 30 minutes before and were left to stand. I don't ever send food back as I don't care for microwaved or reheated food or worse. My partner was asked if everything was ok with the meal once again when she asked for the bill and mentioned the problem. The manager came over and asked why we had not said the food was cold earlier. I don't want to have a poor meal ruined even more by having to complain about it. I find it strange that a restaurant does not know whether it's food is hot enough or not and needs to ask their guests about this. I would imagine food temperature is part of kitchen training.

We loved this place as soon as we walked in to find a selection of smaller beamed rooms to eat in. The staff are really friendly and helpful. We chose the 2 course set menu and both had a rump steak sandwich with chips, filled by creme brûlée. We have to say that the steak was a bit stringy although it tasted good, but the chips were excellent as was the brûlée. The atmosphere was very pleasant but the incessant pop vocal “music” although fairly quiet, got a bit irritating by the time we left as it does in most restaurants these days. (We don’t think vocal pop music is necessary anyway if we are trying to have a pleasant conversation). Despite this we will come back in due course.

There's a great value set meal option at £21 per person for 2 courses or £25 per person for 3 courses and that includes drink options, which could be a bottle of wine or a combination of beers/soft drinks, so options for everyone. There's a choice of around 5 starters, x9 Mains and x5 Desserts something for all tastes. Nice country pub vibe, lots of lovely dining areas in this spacious pub with x2 beer gardens. I thought it was great that a variety of dishes are offered for starter, main and dessert. I ordered the burger which was nice but I didn't enjoy the raw cauliflower salad that came with it. It was quite small for the price and I feel that it should have been served with some chips as I was still a little hungry afterwards. Yorkshire pudding burnt around the edges and gravy also had burnt flavour. Beef okay but the whole meal was tepid . The fish was mainly batter and grey in colour did not appear to be fresh. The waitress was very accommodating and asked if we would like to order something else, we declined the offer and she passed on our concerns to manager and kitchen. We were offered a complimentary dessert but just requested the bill. 20% was deducted from the total. Can't fault the service but it is unfortunate that our waitress had to suffer the complaints. We waited 45 minutes for a pate starter and then another 30 minutes for ham, egg and chips, then another 30 minutes for rhubarb crumble, in total we were there for over 2 hours just for lunch. The food wasn't even worth the wait, I asked for a non brioche bun for my burger and nobody said that this wasn't possible so I got served what I didn't really want. There was no check on our meals and when we asked for sauces we were presented with nearly empty, sticky bottles of ketchup with a sticker on the bottle of when they were opened. When I went to pay the bill the waitress was going to charge me for a different table until I pointed it out, wish I hadn't as it was £10 less than my bill but I didn't want to cause any trouble. The whole experience was such a massive let down as we always used to come here for nice food but now we will be going elsewhere in future. Its obvious that something has gone wrong, if they have cut hours in the kitchen or the waiting staff its going to severely damage their business and reputation, maybe its too late because the cracks are beginning to show......

Just been to this awful place stood for ten minutes before a member of staff even acknowledged us and we're told to find a table and that was it. We sat for a further 15 minutes at the table we found ourselves before my partner went to ask for a menu where a very rude member of staff told her to sit back down and someone would be over with a menu. ANOTHER 10 minutes later and still nobody had been over with a menu or even acknowledged we were still sat there even after 25 minutes! During this time other people had came in and staff had given them menus and taken their ordered and taken other people's drinks orders in between. After asking for a menu once again we were told to sit down and someone would be over but amazingly nobody came again! I can Honestly say this is the worst place I have ever been with awful staff and service and I'd advise anyone to stay away and stick to willow farm or the pavilion!!! After a god awful 30 mins waiting in this shoddy place we got up and walked out and will happily never return.

This was the worst steak sandwich ever and very disappointed we were! It is served up in a dry bread, with no onions or relish and we just couldn't chew it. I'm sure there must be some dishes that are ok, but having been twice now, its so hitty missy. Waste of good money.

Location was great as we had friends that lived local. Staff excellent and the service in the bar/restaurant very friendly. The double room was clean and spacious. The only reason I gave this inn 3* was because the bed was most uncomfortable.. had the worst 2 nights sleep! Not enough support and the springs you could feel every time you moved. Very disappointing. The continental breakfast was very nice and plenty to eat. You could request a cooked breakfast. Sunday roast was excellent. I would stay here again if they replaced the beds.

Our rooms were pleasant and clean. Throughout our stay the manager was quietly attentive, polite, patient, efficient and concerned that all was to our satisfaction. The staff were (with one exception) cheerful patient and efficient. We had a family dinner for 14 on Sunday evening and all went well (one member of the party was miffed that all the Sunday roasts were 'off' - but they'd had an exceptionally busy day). On Monday afternoon the r3ception and buffet for 30 after the funeral, was in a reserved area and was fresh, varied and plentiful. As the afternoon wore on into late evening the mood of the mourners lightened (helped perhaps by the free bar) and I wish to apologise to other diners on behalf of our party for the rising volume and occasional crescendo of laughter as 'good times' were recalled. The four cask beers were in good condition and there was a good selection of Gin and Whiskys - what more could one want?

It was manic as soon as we walked in people standing infront of your table drinking beers ordered a beef Sunday lunch the beef quality was shocking microwaved im sure or prepacked beef, roast potatoes tasted deep fried Yorkshire pudding was barely cooked, I understand it was busy however the quality of the food was not good enough the beef did not taste from a fresh cut of meat, had no choice wether it was to be pink or well done? Food was brought over and we had no cutlery, mint sauce was served on a saucer, won't be returning

Booked online dead easy, greeted by a young boy behind the bar who showed us to the table and said it was 'no bother mate' not the usual polite welcome we have been accustomed to over the years. Our waitress 'Sylvia' who looked after us from start to finish was on the other hand extremely friendly and very attentive. I always order the roast beef and on this occasion wished i hadn't. It was virtually impossible to cut and not very nice to eat. The roast potatoes were sat in puddles of grease on the plate and the veg was terrible too. To complete the poor show the yorkshire pudding was like the rest of the food luke warm and the bottom was soggy and greasy. The rest of the group thoroughly enjoyed their roast turkey dinners and the bill only came to £50 for 4 people including soft drinks which is pretty good nowadays for Sunday lunch. The restaurant is still nice inside and the service in general very good, so what has happened to the food? Will I return to find out? Probably but not anytime soon.....

After our meals which were nothing special we asked for bill ,we noticed everything was priced separately after asking about it we were told the special two course menu didn't apply on a Saturday, so why give us that menu in the first place.this is a lovely venue shame about the service .

Very disappointed at my visit here today (Sun 16th July 2017) with my elderly parents. Upon entering the teenage staff seemed disinterested and nondescript; informing up there weren't many tables - yet the place was nearly empty (16:00ish) - we found a table with no problem at all by ourselves. The meal - well had the pork and all I can say is don't bother. The roast potatoes were burnt and greasy, the pork was 3 thin slices, the Yorkshire pudding soggy and undercooked, the green veg looked like it had been awaiting serving for at least a few days - not great. Then to our amazement, a young waitress came over to our table and asked my father if she could have the mint sauce which had been next to his dinner in one of those little individual ramakin dishes - we couldn't see exactly but we think she gave it to another customer; we presume they had run out - WOW.Feeling hungry and optimistic, we opted for pudding and I asked what the 'Chocolate Ale Pudding' was. I was told it was ale chocolate cake with ice cream - WEL IT WASNT - it was a very small piece of chocolate cake with what can only be described as frozen iced lager in the form of a sorbet; however it was melting and watery and disgusting. My honest opinion - don't even bother with this place - I know a better greasy burger van with a zero star hygiene rating!

This place has gone done the drains rapidly lately. It was virtually deserted on a Saturday night and we soon realised why. Staff seemed unhappy.Do not go there, many better restaurants around!

Me and the wife stayed 2 nights as we was visiting Newcastle for a night and this hotel was £70 cheaper than staying in the city. The accommodation was perfectly adequate for the price we paid The rooms are in a separate part to the pub but only a couple of meters away and there is lots of parking. The pub part is more a very large restaurant with only a small area crammed in next to the door for somewhere just to enjoy a beer they obviously make lots more money having more tables than seating. The rooms where clean not the Ritz but ok for a night or 2 with a very very noisy power shower. We didn't book breakfast but was informed a complementary continental breakfast was thrown in which was great as we had free coffee fruit cereal croissants toast and if you fancy a full English it was about £7. The place is very remote just off the A1 about 2 miles outside cramlington so a car is needed as we found out there are no pavements to walk on into the village or for a bus into Newcastle city and found ourselves walking on a grass verge down a duel carriageway to find a bus into the city. The buses into Newcastle once you've navigated the main road are great value and very frequent at only £6 return and last bus is about 10 at night. I don't think we would stay again as it was a bit to much out of the way but if your into that or need to catch a plane at Newcastle airport it's fine .

I visited this place a good few years ago and did not think much of it, however my wife and I were passing the other day and decided to give it another go hoping things might have improved. We did not enjoy the visit. To be fair, the staff were good. The barman and waitress were friendly and polite but the place felt a bit dark and dingy. They may be going for a "cosy" look but it just felt drab. We were there at lunchtime and both had beef sandwiches, the beef was chewy and not nice at all. The desert was ok - chocolate brownies, but I had to go to bar to remind them that we were waiting for it. Again the staff were fine about it, but I think overall the food is poor value for money and the place feels cold and drab.

My partner and I had eaten at the snowy owl last year, on our last visit to see family. Food was nice so we decided to book 2 nights stay before going to a concert at the Sage in Newcastle. Hotel is in a beautiful setting, right next to Northumberlandia , which we wanted to visit. Partner went to check in, which is situated in the bar area. a young barman gave him the room keys and directed us where to go. When we got in the room, it was obvious there had been a mix up, as we were given a twin room, we had booked a double! So my partner returned to the bar. After 15 minutes he came back with another room key, this time it was for a double room. Apparently they were in the process of going over to a new system, so they didn't have all our booking details. My partner did get a free breakfast as an apology, as the they tried to charge us more than we had already paid when booking online. When we finally did get into our room, it was a lot bigger than the twin, the room was nice but the bathroom was quite grubby. The grout around the shower cubicle was black in places, and had a nasty smell of mold. The room overlooked the rear car park, but not noisy at all. The mattress cove was badly stained and had multiple hairs stuck to it...Yuk!We were meeting family for dinner, so we decided to have a drink and sit in the bar. Whilst we were waiting for them to arrive, the barman that had checked us in was talking very loudly to his colleagues and was using some choice words. Although there was only us and another two couples in the pub at that time,5pm, I would have preferred it if he had kept his voice down and opinions to himself! We placed our order for food once our family members had arrived. Food was quick to come out but unfortunately, my partners mother did not enjoy hers, she had the steak, which was overcooked and very chewy. I did complain to the manager, who apologised and took her meal off the bill. I really enjoyed my Chicken Caesar salad, and my partner enjoyed his food too.We were expecting a lot more than what we experienced whilst staying at the Snowy Owl, the drink and food are expensive. especially the wine by the glass, the rooms, are overpriced and not decorated to a high standard to reflect the price and the exterior. Although I did enjoy seeing Northumberlandia and the beautiful surroundings this area has to offer. We won't be staying here again on our next visit.

I visited Snowy Owl with a friend for a midweek evening meal. The menu choices for a healthy option were very limited but I opted for crispy duck salad priced at £12.25. Our meals arrived quickly but my salad consisted of a bowl of leaves 2-3 ribbons of carrot and cucumber and 7-8 small pieces of fatty duck. It was quite tasty but highly overpriced for the amount of duck and variety of salad.
