My wife and I had a three course meal in the bar and the food, service and staff were wonderful. I would highly recommend a visit

Sunday lunch was OK here, but there was very little atmosphere and the staff - whilst perfectly pleasant and attentive - weren't fully on the ball. E.g. we had to ask for a wine list, salt and pepper, sugar for the coffee etc. That said, the roast dinners were tasty and the portion size good. It was a bit over priced given it was slightly disappointing.

Great food, great service and at a surprisingly reasonable price. The menu also had interestingly diverse choice of items which was nice to see, with the vast majority of the products local.

We just turned up early evening without booking - Paul showed us in and took our orders - he was extremely pleasant and polite - he informed us that we were early so there may be a little wait - actually the service was quick and attentive - the food was delicious- we had the Sunday roasts - cooked to perfection!! Reasonably priced - relaxed atmosphere- a very enjoyable evening. Paul appeared to take pride in his work and went out of his way to make our dining experience enjoyable- thank you Paul!!!

The atmosphere was very welcoming and the staff were polite and attentive, the food was very nice and the whole experience was very positive. The only downside was that there appeared to be a large number of customers with Groupon vouchers. From what I gather these only gave a reduction in the price and did not cover the whole cost of any of the customers in the restaurant during our visit. I would prefer that these so called deals were dropped and a fairer priced menu was set. I am sure that with the quality of service offered such incentives are not really necessary.

Our meal at the Snooty Fox was very disappointing. My starter of smoked salmon cubes was so tiny it was an utter disappointment and the pate my husband had was completely tasteless. Also the table hadn’t been set up properly even though it wasn’t busy. We had to request cutlery and napkins as it seemed to be overlooked by the staff! My main course was nothing special but the other main course of sausage & mash consisted of 2 small sausages on top of mash and nothing else not even veg! All for £13.95 - the other mains were about £1.00 more but a least you had a proper meal including veg. A very disappointing visit to a local restaurant and unfortunately we will not be going. back.

We arrived for lunch, mid week at 1. Only one other couple dining. We were asked what we wanted to drink while actually taking off coats prior to sitting. The rest of the service was not so rapid! On wanting to leave and pay it was necessary to stand at the bar and shout into the kitchen, although we had requested the bill 5 minutes earlier. The waitress was very pleasant. The food was OK, although not exceptional, Veg were VERY firm.

Never been before though lived nearby for years. What a lovely cosy bar/restaurant. Had a fantastic lunch. All courses served were beatifully presented and absolutely delicious. The waitress (it was a Tuesday) was a lovely friendly person, an asset to the place. Have booked again for a Sunday with friends. So nice to find somewhere with full menu for Sunday not just roast dinners though they do that as well. A definite firm favourite for us now.

Four of us ate in the bar on the bank holiday weekend. The menu looked great, what followed was not!I asked for some salad leaves instead of pickles with my goats cheese starter. The waiter informed me the kitchen had no salad. I asked for a bread roll and was advised I'd have to wait 10 minutes. When the roll arrived I asked for butter which came as a pool on the plate. Two of us had the fish and chips. Soggy batter and worse chips in ages.I'm sorry to say that this lovely hotel has gone downhill in recent years and any comments to staff or management are met with indifference. I suspect they are only interested in wakes or weddings.

A very pleasant place to drop into for quiet conversation and a well served meal or light snack. Particularly recommend the Sussex sausage sandwich which goes down very well with a pint of beer. More extensive meals are also served in the Snooty Fox,but as the tables are rather smll we tend to use it for bar food at lunch time. If you like an Old English atmosphere this place has it in spades

We are regulars - mainly for the beer and cappuccino - and drive past three pubs to get there. Staff are excellent and good atmosphere; no booming music and very seldom screaming kids. Every time we have eaten, it has been excellent. On this visit, their wonderful duck was nowhere to be seen, so ordered scampi and chips. How can they make scampi taste THAT good?

I visited the Snooty Fox bar on a weekday a few days before Christmas, as a party of four. The bar was quiet, and the service was average for a quiet day. We sat down for lunch at our table, but were told by one waitress to order our drinks at the bar. A few minutes later, another waitress came over and asked us for our drinks order. We ordered our drinks and food, the starters came relatively quickly. We ordered 2x garlic prawns and a salmon mousse. We asked for bread and butter, and the waitress asked 'what do you want the bread and butter with?' to which we laughed and said 'everything!' The salmon mousse lacked salmon flavour and was hard - not mousse like at all. When the main courses came, one had to be returned as the vegetables were hard. The waitress said 'they were al dente' but they were more raw than al dente. We declined desserts based on our experience of the previous two courses, we ordered coffee which was also disappointing. The cappuccinos lacked froth and tasted very strong - almost undrinkable. We then had to wait about 15 minutes before we could pay our bill because the only person working by this point was showing other guests around the venue.Overall a very disappointing visit across all aspects, we won't be returning.

Very nice pub meal in the Snooty Fox bar. Pie & mash. The food was not overpriced either. Drinks seemed a bit expensive though, & the overall meal came out quite expensive.Unfortunately, when we were part way though paying for our evening, we were then told that we had to pay a gratuity. No one minds paying a tip for good service but we were a bit taken aback by being asked for one.So in summary, good food, good service, but beer a little dear and a mistake by management costs the overall score a couple of points.

What a shame! As regular visitors and locals we have enjoyed eating here for over a year. The table was not set properly. The waitresses seemed untrained and unsure of what to do .Our meal was cut short with hordes of people viewing the venue for a wedding whilst trying to eat our lunch. It was not the dining experience you would expect and sadly we all left without finishing our meal disaster! The Manager on duty Luke was completely ineffectual and appeared only interested in the possible wedding booking. We really like supporting our local restaurants/ businesses but sadly we will not be returning anytime in the near future.

Really nice hotel, nice decor, good atmosphere, situated in a quaint country village. Staff were friendly and efficient. Food was very good. The only downside is the wifi or lack of wifi in the hotel - travelling on business - I need access to wifi in my room. Wifi is not a luxury - it's a utility - I had to keep going down to reception to work - a big pain. This would be a very easy issue to resolve.

We ate as a group of five on a weekday. The restaurant was not open and we ate in the bar. There was little by way of friendly or relaxed ambience and I found the setting somewhat dated. In the nearly two hours we were there, there was only one other couple who called in for sandwiches and a drink. Service was friendly and efficient if not particularly welcoming. When I eat out I normally look for something a little different - perhaps something I would not have at home. However, none of us found the menu particularly inspiring. Soup, mackerel, goats cheese tart, cod, plaice, gammon, burger, sausages, steak,etc.......There was limited availability of some starters (eg ham croquettes). The scampi was far from top quality and the batter on one cod had been so overdone it was almost solid. Some of the strawberries in my 'Eton Mess' had seen better days!Based on some of the other reviews perhaps we were just unlucky on the day however based on this visit I would not recommend or return.

As we needed cheering up we drove off the main highway through Findon village and stopped at this nice looking bar/restaurant - part of a country hotel. After a poor greeting we were served drinks and a lunch menu was produced. The service improved after that. We both opted for the home made beef and mushroom pie and it was good. As we had deserts and coffee at home we paid up and left, the hospital forgotten so it served bits purpose.

Having never visited before and checking here before I visited I was a little worried but I understand there is a new owner, new menu and new kitchen staff so maybe that is why things have improved so dramatically.I will definately visit again and if its as good second time as first it will become one of our 'great places to meet up'. Marked Atmosphere and Bar scene as average as it was a function so can't say if normally good or bad.

The bar has been stripped of any atmosphere with table tops badly marked and requiring a coat of varnish. No tables were laid with cutlery. The bar was deserted when we arrived at 12 noon and remained so until we left after 1pm. We ordered a SirLoin steak, rare, from the main menu and a curry from the chalk board specials. There was no curry. instead we asked for muscles, a special. No muscles. Then the whole specials menu was wiped clean. Fish and chips instead from the main menu. The Hadock was no more than a thin slice with nice batter. At £9 not expensive but the portion was dry and minuscule. The steak should have been rare but was dry, wafer thin and "well done". It was accompanied only by chips, flat mushroom and tomato all ok, but no salad or other vegetables. At £13 it was not expensive but a poorly prepared meal not cooked as requested. Petite fois were offered as an apology and arrived but were shop bought and sickly. The room was cold on arrival with a cheap electric imitation wood burner standing in front of a real wood burner stove. We had to ask for some heat but the room never really warmed up made worse by the cold soul less atmosphere of a deserted restaurant/bar. The waiter was nice enough but fighting against a poorly performing chef and management seemingly incapable of creating a decent eating experience.
