The Beach Cafe in Arun

Our favourite coffee stop. We combine an energetic walk along the sea front with a stop here for coffee, hot chocolate, brunch or cakes It's always busy but there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Today we sat outside. We never have to wait long and there is an outside takeaway stall. The location is fab - right on the seafront, with uninterrupted views across the beach.

I visited this restaurant with a friend for lunch. I had the fish and chips which was the best I've eaten in years. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Restaurant ambience was cheerful and welcoming. Lovely experience. They are dog friendly (as is the whole of Littlehampton). God willing I will return, for the fish and chips alone!

A very popular and busy cafe, even in off season. Staff are very efficient and pleasant even when very busy. Food is excellent.

Really pleasantly surprised at this dining venue. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with a smile and quickly shown to a table. The waitress provided menus and enough browsing ti.e (as it was my first visit). The waitress was patient and helpful whilst we made our choices. Coffee was good and the scrambled eggs with sourdough toast was great. Frankly I am looking forward to my next visit when I hope it will be warm enough to sit outside and enjoy the marine vista. First time visit to the beach club whilst looking for some breakfast. I was warmly welcomed by the staff who found me a table on the seafront side. I chose the beach club breakfast which was more than substantial. The butchers sausages are excellent and the scrambled eggs were a rich yellow colour and light and fluffy. The team are polite, friendly and attentive. A great place to eat drink and relax. I'll definitely be coming back again. Thank you

Brilliant nite at The Beach, 80s with Mark A Wright. Staff lovely, very friendly, service excellent. Food really lovely, good portions. Friends had Scampi /chips I had freshly made proper Pizza, delicious!! Atmosphere fantastic, staff dressed up 80s style. Lots of people dressed up, dancing. It Rocked !! Fabulous venue. I visited this location for the first time and was disappointed by the service. Upon arrival, I received a frosty greeting from the staff, which I overlooked. After waiting patiently at my table for five minutes without any service, I approached the counter thinking it might be counter service, but it wasn’t. There was no apology or acknowledgment, and I felt like a burden rather than a valued guest. The staff member with short red hair was particularly rude and unwelcoming. I hope improvements are made to customer service moving forward.

The staff is very friendly and helpful all the time. The food is very good with Lovely views outside to the beach and watch the world.

First time I've visited here. Really lovely cafe, right on the beach front with a fantastic view of the beach. Only stopped for a coffee, but the food looked wonderful and it was very busy. Staff really good and professional in there service.

A quaint beach side cafe serving food & drinks with a lively atmosphere

Came with some friends for lunch and upon being seated a waitress with short hair and glasses took our drinks order and told us she would come back and take our food order later as the menu was about to change from breakfast to lunch. We didn’t mind this at all but the waitress very quickly returned and we politely asked for a couple more minutes. She then returned after 20 minutes and told us there was now a 40 minute wait for food to which one of my friends replied “oh well we have been waiting” only for the waitress to loudly and passive aggressively say “EVERYTIME IVE COME OVER YOU HAVENT BEEN READY”. Shocked by the rudeness, we decided not to escalate the situation and instead made our orders. We then noticed a different waitress started serving us after this who was very polite. The food was very mediocre and definitely not worth the price and on top of that we got stung with an £11 service charge which is absolutely ridiculous considering the unprovoked rudeness of the waitress we had before. Wont be coming back

Great place to stop for hot drink & sit outside on a sunny cold Sunday morning but They need extra staff manning the takeaway at busy times. 2 staff is not enough!

Had a most disappointing lunch. Ordered fish finger sandwich which had been under the heat lamps, consequently making the bread hard and dry. Mentioned it to the waitress who didn't seem concerned as it was almost closing time. Will definitely not use this cafe again.

Must explore places during summer, plenty of activities for all ages including rides and mini golf. Plenty of paid parking available

Having recently taken part in a festive market hosted by the beach club, I can highly recommend! The venue is open and welcoming with a beautiful view of the sea. In warner weather you can enjoy the seating outside. The menu had a good choice of food and drinks and the staff were so helpful and attentive. The evening was wonderful with shoppers, carol singers and fairylights.

An unassuming place but right on the beach with friendly and efficient staff even when rushed off their feet. Great for breakfast, bacon just right with tender flesh and crispy fat, perfect poached egg, fresh sourdough and meaty sausages.

Very disappointing experience for us today! We didn't stay long enough to try the food we were intending to order.

The staff here are amazing. They are so kind, so helpful and so friendly. You can tell that they all really like and appreciate us each other which makes for a really happy, relaxed, calm environment! Bring on our Boxing Day visit!!!

I had a coffee here a few times so decided to try breakfast. My friend had the larger breakfast and I had the one below it. Food was cooked quickly and piping hot! Very, very tasty. Service was very pleasant. The views are excellent being right on the seafront. I imagine in summer it does get busy. We were there around 8am so there was plenty of space but it was starting to get more visitors during our breakfast. The only negative is the prices were a little steep compared to others but you are paying for the quality of food, location and lovely environment so I'd say worth it in the end.

An extra star goes to the view. Not much on the menu so ordered a tuna melt, decided to pay £2 extra for salad. I wish I'd photographed my £2 salad, good grief! Laughable. It was very much past its best and consisted of a small handful of wilted leaves from a bag...that was it. I said I wouldn't be eating it as it was basically dead, so asked for it to be removed from the bill. When we came to pay I didn't get given a paper bill, was told the total and that the waitress couldn't take the £2 off, but instead just didn't add service charge so we had "saved £3.20", absolute cheek!! I'd have made a bit more of this, but didn't want to embarass my friend so I paid and left. Service charge is optional, not guaranteed. Don't serve dead salad

We have been regulars since this cafe opened. Sometimes it’s great and sometimes it’s dire. Food ok - standard cooked breakfast but the manager’s reluctance to let us sit at one of the empty tables we asked for was frustrating. The table I wanted was apparently “reserved” although no-one arrived to sit there the whole time we were present having our cooked breakfast. The other table I requested, where we have sat many times before, I was told that we would have to share because they were designed for 6 - however two of those tables were being used for two people. I just felt unwelcome and as if I’d been cheeky asking to sit at specific tables. The lady who did take our order was friendly. We usually tip well but today asked for the standard amount already added to the bill to be removed. Such a shame - popped out for a nice Sunday breakfast to celebrate December and just felt like I was a complete inconvenience. A smile and a welcome was all that was needed not You can’t sit here, You can’t sit there etc. It’s a cafe on the beach not The Ivy.

What a gem of a cafe. Prompt , polite and friendly service. Piping hot delicious food. Lovely sea views. Clean toilets and dog friendly area too.

We pre-booked a table for breakfast .arrived in time and ordered..a lot of faffing around and un necessary questions ..then had to wait over 30 mins for it to arrive and only then after asking how much longer .we where told they were rushed as we had all come in at once ?? Pre booked table 4 people ?? Very poor and then tried to charge 10 %service charge .they should have given us 10% off for the excessive wait ..there was no more about 10 other people there and all ready served ..too much chat and not enough customer service ..at a cost of over £60 for 4 not some where we will be going again ..

Went for breakfast after park run. Was very busy.. staff still did an amazing job.. the food was fabulous 👌. Parking easy. Good value for money

This place is fantastic - truly a wonderful place, in an amazing location, with a plethora of options for food and drink.

We ordered 3 starters for two, grilled fish and a chicken burger, cost about £60. Only the burger was on the photo, but it was beautiful. Very tasty. I highly recommend the king prawns as a starter. Very cosy establishment, adequate staff and quite adequate prices. 9/10

Very busy restaurant. After waiting for a while, I had to ask if someone could take my order. From then on, I was not disappointed. The food came quickly, and it was cooked very well. The portions are good for a decent price. The staff was attentive. Would definitely recommend it!

We have been here twice, so it must be nice :-) The 4 stars are because the service seems a little off-handed - always having to ask for the little things that should have been on the table. It is better than you will imagine stuck out towards the end of the promenade. They have indoor, deck, and upper deck seating, so you can be as 'on the beach' as you want. The menu is 'casual' meaning nothing unusual nor pricey. Everything we have eaten has pleased us. If you are staying in the area, they make good use of the great location by holding yoga classes, surf lessons, quiz nights, and themed events. (I am a fan of places that use their asset to the max to everyone's benefit). Go for it - maybe the service is just living at the coast, and wouldn't take much to be right on the money.

New to me but open Mondays so tried it out. Great wrap flavours and sea views in a storm were impressive. Staff attentive but not enough tables for two for my liking. Guilty of being so good they are very busy here! Liked it and will go again.

We only popped in for coffee, a seating area is available for dog owners. Very good coffee, with delicious food options. Can't fault the outdoor or indoor seating with the fabulous views. Cheerful and welcoming staff.

This is such a nice venue but the chefs really let it down!! We get a lot of visitors since moving here in April and started to often bring them for breakfast. At first it was a little slow, things arriving at different times but the last 2/3 time have been very bad. The staff agreed and gave us discounts but it’s putting us off going back. Last time, we had 3 beach breakfast, mine was gluten free and it turned up without sausages (everywhere has gluten free sausages these days) no substitute of extra anything else so my plate looked sadly smaller than the others and the gluten free toast was cheapest white but burned . One of the plates had one and a tiny scrap of bacon instead of two nice Pieces. Our friend ordered poached egg on toast, it finally arrived just as we were finishing eating and the eggs were thrown on, broken and not cooked. We sent them back and waited…………eventually said don’t bother as they had to travel home. The two times before that were very very slow, I had cold eggs and my friend had very hard poached eggs. No one came to ask if all ok couldn’t change it or get anyone’s attention. We’d love to come there regularly but feel it’s having trouble getting good food out in our experience .

A very nice restaurant right on the beach, good menu for all with a large drinks selection. Table service with pleasant staff. Booking recommended especially on warm sunny days. There's also a roof-top seating area which is very popular.

Never going back again. Not for the first time we went here on a relatively quite week day evening for drink and food. Once again it was only when we came to order we were informed that half the menu was not available as "the delivery had not arrived today" What we did order (when it eventually arrived) was luke warm and looked like it had been thrown together. Its apparent that a vast majority of your staff don't know or care what is not available on the menu, and confirming that in the first place

shocking service from start to finish. Visited today with my sister for what should’ve been a quick drink. The cafe was not even half full however all the wait staff were just stood around chatting, it took 20 minutes to be given a drinks Menu and another 15 for the drinks to arrive, we then had to ask for the bill which of course required more standing around chatting before it was bought to us. We found the staff rude and dismissive. The cakes were dry and the hot drinks were cold. Disappointed, do not waste your time visiting!

Lovely place just felt there are two different companies . One in side and outside. Inside you getting better service then outside. Outside is unkind staff, and they are using dirty cloth to clean coffee machines. What didn’t look very hygienic. Coffee was cold 🥶 and breakfast couldn't bring over as they can't read ticket number.

Chilled atmosphere, good food, excellent staff and a surfing/kite surfing vibe that is new and unique to Littlehamton (LA). Recommended for foor and drinks after a day on LA beach, excellent in the summer, cosy vibe in the winter, great place to watch the liters and relax with coffer or a cocktail.

Wonderful location & building but let down by excessive staff with poor attitudes, poor food quality, ridiculously long waiting times (1hr) and atrocious customer service at dealing with issues. An arrogance air of *c’est la vie* runs through its core which is so very sad because there’s wonderful potential. Update - Following the response from the owner (2yrs later) I’ve read some additional reviews over the last few months to reconsider leaving it up, and sadly, there have been several still mentioning the rude older lady who served us, she appears to still be there interfacing with the public when she shouldn’t be. So sorry, it stays up and we will visit in May when we are next down and hopefully we can remove the review after a better experience.

Went here to today with my hubby for lunch. It's our wedding anniversary we had a fantastic time.The food was wonderful and the staff team were just brilliant. Will definitely be coming back!

Lovely place for a drink and a nibble on a nice sunny day. It's easy and quick to order at the kiosk and friendly staff at the counter. The local beer they have on draft is really good and the cheesy chips were amazing

Just been to the beach cafe, it was busy but not full to capacity. They found us a table. We waited a while for a waitress, who when eventually came forgot the menus. We ordered our drinks, one cappuccino 1 tea and 1 latte. And then our breakfast order. Our drinks came after 15 mins, tea by the way I always find is stewed in the cafe, but I never give up, the milk jug needed cleaning badly. No sugar or teaspoons available. Waitress came over and said they had run out of almond croissants would I like something else, I choose the overnight oats with fruit compote, which never turned up! My mother had a croissant we had to ask for butter and jam. Husband had beans on toast which was good. They charged us for the croissant we never received. I always feel let down by this cafe, it’s badly run and not too clean, why was there a whole lot of empty cups on the countertops? They need a good manager. It’s so badly run and needs a good clean. I work opposite at the wave cafe, and we would never present the cafe like this. So very disorganised.

Outside service slow , got the order wrong, no apology and all we ordered was coffee! Cafe behind by the pond much better.

I had the Carne tacos. They should be ashamed of themselves. You can't even call it food. Two little tacos with some shredded meat mixed with coleslaw and some coriander leaves. Just horrid. Tasteless apart from bitterness. Either improve them or remove them from your menu. 10 quid thrown down the toilet. Won't be coming back.

We come here regularly, the staff work so hard, was a glorious afternoon and the place was packed. The service was great as always, we had a burger and nachos sat outside and both were delicious. Great location with superb food. We love coming here, keep up the good work!

I am underwhelmed. Arrived for lunch and told it would be a 30 minute wait. Three people in our group. After 40 minutes one pizza arrived. Took another 10 minutes for the fish tacos and sandwich with chips to arrive. There seemed to be no sense to the order in which food was being brought outside with one table of 4 complaining that they had been waiting for an hour. The food was average. Lots of use of the dreaded deep fat fryer and limited healthy lunch options. The poke bowl salad on the table next to us looked unimaginative. There are so many amazing vegetarian poke bowl recipes and ideas. I don't plan to visit again until there is a healthier lunch menu.

What a location! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by super friendly and professional staff. The food was excellent as was the local beer selection! Highly recommended, especially for the watersports enthusiasts and beach lovers.

Funky cafe directly overlooking the beach waves, serving breakfast, pizza, salad bowls, nachos, tacos, burgers and sandwiches. Everything was presented nicely and well cooked. Reasonable & good quality kids meals. Dog friendly inside & out. Fish tacos need more fish & filling generally (one small gujon each is not enough) - the meat ones looked far better.

Spur of the moment to pop in on our walk for a drink and something to eat. Food is reasonably prices and very tasty. Service was very good, will be popping back again

What a lovely addition to the area much needed in my opinion. Really fits into the seafront setting and is clearly popular. We popped in for breakfast with coffees and the food was very tasty and decent drinks too. Staff plentiful and friendly. Would happily recommend and revisit when in the area. Lovey views out to the sea and on the day we visited it was really windy and the surf conditions impressive for the kite surfers and others, great to watch from the large windows!

Very busy so it’s best to park across the road! Rather expensive for what you get you’re paying for the view which today was grey ! lack lustre service from well meaning non professionals. The average age appears to be 90 which explains the toilets being in such a disgusting state .the Bench seats are all Badly stained ( I don’t want to know ! ) And the whole vibe is great looking restaurant in a great location which has fallen on hard times and now just serves fried everything for the incontinent! Health inspector, decorator, new menu. In that order. TOP TIP. If you miss out using the loo you won’t be put off the food.
