Oh my what a pie! Probably the best steak and ale pie I’ve ever had. Pics of half eaten pie (I couldn’t wait) and lasagne. Great food, great draught beer and great service. Key lime pie for pudding , perfection.

Never been before but loved it. Good food, friendly staff and atmosphere. Will definitely go again!

After visiting Pagham for many years, visiting local restaurants, we decided for a change that we would go to the Bear Inn for lunch. I had the fish and chips which was incredible. All the meals we had were brilliant. The staff are so friendly and helpful. We will now go here as our number one choice in Pagham. For the staff - we found the unicorn toy!!

Fabulous Sunday Roast Had a Sunday Roast here today with friends and we were really impressed Everything on the plate had been thought about and tasted delicious, one of my friends is vegetarian and gluten free and the catered for it superbly I loved the circled note on the roast menu that there was a free Sunday lunch for the doggy customers - what a lovely way to use up leftovers rather than put them in the bin - very impressed The staff were amazing, friendly, efficient and did everything with a smile I wished we lived nearer I would frequent The Bear more often

Had a lovely meal tonight (gluten free menu was amazing) for my mum and dad's 40th wedding anniversary followed by live music and games of pool , lovely family friendly atmosphere,staff and locals were brilliant with my teenage boys ,thank you guys for a lovely evening. Highly recommended.

My wife and I arrived for a booked Sunday lunch and had a drink at the bar, 7p whilst we enjoyed our drinks we were aware of a dog consistently barking in the restuarant whilst sitting under a table. The dog was barking so loud with no one from the management taking much notice that we felt we would have to leave before we sat to our table as it would not be the peaceful Sunday lunch we had hoped for. When I drew this barking dog to the management's attention and said we could not stay for lunch the reply was "I don't blame you" is this the way to keep customers returning? I also thought dogs were not allowed within the dining part of a restaurant

Lovely food best we've had for a long time well worth the money.

Food well presented and tasty. Convenient for local holiday site. Generous portions A very nice meal. The only comment I would make is that my chicken was not as described on the menu. It was supposed to be a chicken breast, but it was actually a leg. However,, for me this wasn't a problem, but may be for anyone who doesn't like meat on the bone.

There were 6 of us for lunch. Staff very welcoming unlike the pub/hotel we went to last week up the road. The menu is so varied it’s difficult to choose something. Two of us had the steak and ale pie which is the best I’ve ever had with delicious gravy. I had mashed potato and it came with cauliflower cheese, swede and broccoli. Delicious. Two other friends had lasagne which they said was the best they’d had. Remaining two friends had scampi and chips. For pudding some of us managed to find room to eat some. We had treacle tart, sticky toffee pudding and chocolate fudge cake. All of which were delicious. Locally I would recommend that the Bear is the best restaurant, pub and has the friendliest staff. Five stars

Had a wonderful meal with great food, service and atmosphere

Walked in to the Bear on a Thursday night 19/09/24 without booking, was greeted by Paula, who without any hesitation said she could accommodate us for a meal. The food was delicious and very flavoursome, Paula was great and very efficient. Will definitely be returning soon for some more great food. Thanks Paula

Came down for the weekend ended up going to see the live music of Sharon lamley ! Such a beautiful atmosphere, becks and the team are great! Will defo be comming back soon xx

Great homemade food , large portions , friendly atmosphere , excellent staff. Homemade steak ale pie best one I’ve ever eaten packed with steak that melts in your mouth . Excellent key lime pie delicious . Will definately be back .

Wow! Amazing food, staff and beer! The portions are not shy! The burger was out of this world! The staff were very nice and looked after us well! Will be coming here more often! Worth the 2 hour journey!!

Clean premises, polite staff, pleasant surroundings. Excellent home cooked food with a good variety of dishes at a reasonable price. Hot plates, fresh vegetables and good portion sizes . Thank you to all concerned.

Honestly the best meal out our family have had in a long time! The Food was absolutely delicious and you could tell was homemade and they gave generous portions too, whoever the chef is, is doing a great job! Staff were very friendly and polite and never took too long to be served from start to finish. Even went home with little complimentary chocolates! All was a great price and the place had a lovely real pub atmosphere. We would definitely go there again!

Amazing delicious home cooked food. Very attentive staff and good choice of menu especially for the kids. The onion rings and chunky chips were to die for! Will definitely visit again when we are next down on holiday.

Superb service, friendly staff and beautiful food! We arrived with 15 mins left til the end of lunch service (lunch is 12pm - 2pm and dinner is from 5pm) we didn’t know but this absolutely wasn’t a problem. Seated in the restaurant area and the waitress was really helpful, explained they’d had a very busy lunch and let us know before we looked at the menu which dishes they had sold out of it. Perfect, because there is nothing worse than finding out once you try to order! Average wait for food but it was well worth it, the food was 10/10. Husband had the homemade pie… never seen a pie so full of meat. He was in heaven! Boy had the Bear burger, which he proclaimed as the best burger he’s ever had (and he’s a teen, he’s had lots of burgers!!). My dish was the Chimichurri chicken burger… gorgeous. Great portion sizes, lots of fries and coleslaw and salsa. Just lovely. If you’re in the area and not sure where to go (there’s 3 pubs all very near each other), pop into the Bear Inn!

Had a delicious meal (1x lasagne and 1x chicken burger). Portions are really generous and the food was delicious and fairly priced. Lovely staff too! Thank you.

Duck parfait is really good, nice little pieces of toast Chicken burger with cheese & chorizo is delightful Key lime pie is outstanding, chocolate pieces in the biscuit base, tasty & creamy

Visited with our grandsons while staying at Church Farm. Traditional pub with excellent ales. The menu offered a reasonable number of dishes but not too many. We ordered the beef steak pie with mash and fresh vegetables. The boys had chicken goujons off the children's menu. The pie was first class, filled with masses of beef and had both a top and bottom crust. The mash and vegetables were well cooked and tasty. The boys enjoyed their goujons and chips. The boys had chocolate ice cream for afters that they demolished quickly. My wife enjoyed the Baileys cream filled profiteroles as did I the apple and berry crumble. Competively priced well above average pub food. I would certainly return next time am in the area.

Good food and service. But this is only the second place I have ever been charged for soda water in over 50 years of drinking and eating in pubs. I spent over £70 on food and drink only to be changed.60p for my wife's Soda water. Sadly we will not be returning if customers only drunk soda water I could quite understand.

Friendly pub, only had drinks, looked at the menu and only one dish for vegans.....

Very nice food and good service. The only reason we will not be returning is that they charge.60p for a soda water. I am almost 70 years old and this is only the second pub I've ever been in that has charged for soda water. I could understand it if that is all customers ordered but having spent over £70 this is penny pinching sadly we will not be returning.

Great food, great menu and value for money

We have eaten at the Bear Inn 3 times as newbies to Pagham. Each time the food has been excellent and plentiful. We will be back. Katrina & Carl Golding

Lovely friendly pub..🥰 with great hosts.

My wife & I visited on a Wednesday lunchtime and sat in the beer garden in the back as the weather was lovely, we had the quiche, we requested to have chips rather than new potatoes, this was no problem for the kitchen, the food was very tasty and we will come back very soon.

Amazing roast dinner!! Have eaten here before and always been really happy with the food so decided to try the roast... did not disappoint! Really good selection of veg, delicious crispy roast potatoes, really succulent roast beef and lashings of gravy (we also asked for more which we were brought in a gravy jug)... Will most definitely be back!

Nice pub, good selection of beer and other drinks. We didn't eat, so can't say anything about the food. A good range of dog snacks available from the bar, which was nice. We found the little garden at the back, which is a delightful sun trap.

Lovely surroundings, friendly staff, varied menu, fair prices, desserts a bit overpriced. Food excellent and plenty of it. Beer prices good. Comfortable seating. 2 starters, 4 mains, 3 desserts and 4 drinks £106. £26 per head. Definitely return.

Great pub food with a good menu. Service was excellent, thoroughly recommend.

We tried to get food at 1.50 pm but were told the kitchen had closed . But on all the details it clearly says food until 2 pm . Another group of 4 people had exactly the same thing straight after us you would have thought they would welcome the business . It food is only until 1.50 pm put this rather than 2 pm very disappointing .

Been here three times, never disappointed. The standard of the food is amazing. I had the seabass with smoked salmon risotto with asparagus and roasted vine tomatoes. Served on hot plates so thee meal was hot to the last mouthful. Heaven on a plate. Adding to the experience lovely staff.

Saturday night out with a friend. Band playing. Football on a big screen. Great atmosphere albeit a tad loud. Quick and friendly service at the bar, as always, will defo come again.

Not great, Sunday roast was cold. Meat was processed food, vegetables were tasteless but aunt Bessie potatoes were OK. Way over priced will not be going again.

4 of us booked in for an early meal on a Thursday evening & first time visit to The Bear. Dining in separate restaurant from the main bar. Choice of specials & regular menus. Two of us had the duck, one a steak & one mushroom stroganoff. All were hot, delicious and to be recommended. Service was wonderful & we felt very welcome. Quietly busy so we could chat easily. Highly recommend & will be back.

Visited The Bear Inn on valentine's day evening. It was a set menu, but great options and food was delicious and served very promptly even though the place was fairly busy. Friendly staff, great service. Will definitely visit again

Had a lovely welcome and gave us a table 2 had half barbecue chicken and chips etc which was a large portion of food excellent value for money. Noticed other meals which was the same good size. Very lovely restaurant area this was our 2nd visit whilst in the area and both times excellent if you want good food and good portions then I would highly recommend also has a large car park opposite on other side of the road.

Went for food tonight with a few good friends amazing proper home made food will definitely be going back food portions we're great didn't even have enough room for dessert lol would definitely recommend.

Arrived at this pub with my dad brother and son was greeted with a wonderful bubbly bar lady great service great laugh happy for us to play pool and darts good discount between 3-5 at the bar we will be back we as a family live local and have had many nights and family events here in the past today was a great welcome on a wet and horrid day thankyou after our tackle shop visit was closed haha cheers x

Very nice place for drink a on Sunday afternoon

Food and service is fantastic but we don’t like dogs in the restaurant. One was behind us and kept coming to one of our chairs causing one of our party feeling unable to finish his meal. Another nearby stood and shook itself and one had its paws on the table!! Surely this can’t be hygienic especially as two of our party have asthma!! On a previous visit, six people with two dogs came to the table next to us and put a mat down at the end of the table for the dogs, blocking any entrance for the waiters and when one of our party who is disabled with a walking stick tried to get to the toilet a woman on that table told him to go the other way, which was impossible because of the way the tables were located. Eventually the dogs were put under the table. On each occasion there were four of us and sadly it is unlikely that that we will return for food. Such a shame because we have dined there many times over the last two years. We are not anti dogs as we have previously been dog owners, but would never dream of taken them to a restaurant. We have no objection to dogs in the bar area but sorry not in the restaurant.

Just a pint and some vino before we we need our way home! Ok pub! Prices were a tad more than other pubs we tried in Pagham but good choice of drinks!

We drove to Bognor Regis to visit my daughter for Xmas. We were hoping to get a meal and chat at the bear, but the landlady informed us that the kitchen was closed. She then proceeded to ring the neighbouring pub for us to see if their kitchen was open, and booked us a slot! Amazing service, as we had to shoot off to secure our table before their kitchens closed, so we weren't even able to buy drinks from her establishment before hand. Brilliant service. Thank you so much. I think the landlady's name was Sam. 🙂

Had a Xmas meal with 15 colleagues .The food was exceptional.,brilliant presentation and the turkey roast was perfect nothing over or underdone .chef is amazing cant wait to go back

This evening we had our Christmas Party at the Bear Inn what a fantastic night. Food was amazing, 5 star service, disco and lots of laughter, can't thank you all enough for such a wonderful night

Every aspect was on point! A the whole pub looked beautifully festive, and we’d booked the whole restaurant for our private party. The service was superb, fabulous atmosphere, 35 of us ranging in ages mid 20’s- late 50’s. We opted for two course, either starter & main or main & pudding on pre orders, excellent choices cooked to perfection & served to the table plan with no mistakes. The bear gave us choices of live singers or a Dj & We opted for a DJ who organised a great playlist and had the party rocking till midnight! Highly recommend this venue to supply the full Package tailored to your every need! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Had a Sunday lunch which was very nice but when it came to the desserts it was a different matter. We had crumble x3 which we thought was expensive as we had with one small dish of custard for all 3 which was nowhere near enough. The other dessert was a meringue which turned out to be supermarket bought with a few bits of fruit and a couple of spoonfuls of whipped cream which was charged at £5.95 again expensive. Plenty of other eateries near by so will not be go back.

Fantastic food fabulous staff very helpful

We were staying at church farm down the road and wanted to go out for a pub lunch. This place was AMAZING! We phoned up the day before to book a table for 8 people. We had our dog with us and it was great that we were allowed to take him into the restaurant area with us too. The welcome was lovely and service was great throughout. The food was our of this world, it was so tasty and all freshly cooked. We had starters and mains but they also do a variety of desserts too. I would 100% recommend this pub

Popped in on the off chance, luckily they fitted us in because the food was excellent. Two had the fish and chips, one had scampi and I had the chilli, thoroughly enjoyed by all of us

Hi. I had Thehome made Chilli it was really nice.The staff were really good and very attentive.I’d recommend to friends and family.

We ordered half a chicken and steak pie ,both soon arrived .The chicken was ok but I do not like small little bits of chips , I prefer whole chips not like the small bits I had .The steak pie was large with mash and veg ,the meat could have done cooking a little more to make it more tender.

The food was excellent and good value. The only thing that let it down was that there were a number of flies trying to land on the food whilst we were trying g to eat. Apart from that I would highly recommend the food.

Visited Saturday evening, wonderful meal, food was exceptional, the pork belly was amazing and my sister had the lamb and this was also incredible.

On Friday 18th August at 13.00pm went to the bear pagham.we are regulars at this pub.but today the guy behind the bar had a terrible attitude.i asked what lager do you have instead of Stella and kronenbourg.he looked at me and said I don't know I don't drink.then just walked away and served another customer.he really had terrible attitude towards hes customers.i hope the bear sort this out otherwise will land up losing regular customers.the women who served are food was very polite and food was good.

Really friendly and lively pub. Couldn't believe how busy it was, but with a great atmosphere. Nice mix of people from different age ranges. Good drink selection and the food looked good too, although we didn't eat. They stop serving quite early, and would recommend booking a table. They had live music on Friday night, which was ok. Plenty of outdoor seating. Would definitely recommended!

Booked here for a Saturday night meal welcomed by friendly staff the food was really nice the cod was large and thick and very nice along with the other meals scampi, ham egg chips etc , it’s really nice pub grub and will return when next in the area

Another amazing meal at The Bear. We always book on a Saturday evening when we come down for a break as they have entertainment. The menu choice and quality of food is fantastic and everyone enjoyed there meal. I had the rib eye steak and it was cooked to perfection. The menu selection is wide and varied which is sometimes a concern but here is good as everything we have ever had is nice. I would highly recommend this place and we will always come here as the food is fantastic, the service is great and the singers good.

First time back in 50 years! Still a great homely pub food was fantastic homemade burgers steak pies looking at other tables all meals excellently presented and large portions.Staff very efficient to our needs will definitely return .Won’t leave it so long this time.5stars

I couldn't manage a pudding 😫 I had the Whitebait starter and the Steak pie ( which was described as "a large portion") with mash and vegetables. A lovely meal in nice surroundings and the service was excellent. I'd recommend this pub.

Absolutely amazing meal there. The dressed crab was amazing - my 90 year old aunt loved every morsel of it I had ham egg and chips and that was well cooked My husband had the steak and he thoroughly enjoyed it Well presented The staff were friendly and welcoming

The best food along the south coast….. absolutely delicious, traditional homemade food. The standard is exceptional, the variety of flavours in this local cuisine really brings home your traditional favourites…. Very generous portion sizes, your struggle to leave a clean plate. Finished off with a great selection of wine to complement the meal. Highly recommend if you’re in the area of simply looking to go for a drive and find a country hotspot. Also near the beach to walk off your afternoon meal. A real hidden gem.
